2A mussel-inspired supramolecular hydrogel with robust tissue anchor for rapid hemostasis of arterial and visceral bleedings显示文摘In recent years,the developed hemostatic technologies are still difficult to be applied to the hemostasis of massive arterial and visceral hemorrhage,owing to their weak hemostatic function,inferior wet tissue adhesion,and low mechanical properties.Herein,a mussel-inspired supramolecular interaction-cross-linked hydrogel with robust mechanical property(308.47±29.20 kPa)and excellent hemostatic efficiency(96.5%±2.1%)was constructed as a hemostatic sealant.Typically,we combined chitosan(CS)with silk fibroin(SF)by cross-linking them through tannic acid(TA)to maintain the structural stability of the hydrogel,especially for wet tissue adhesion ability(shear adhesive strength=29.66±0.36 kPa).Compared with other materials reported previously,the obtained CS/TA/SF hydrogel yielded a lower amount of blood loss and shorter time to hemostasis in various arterial and visceral bleeding models,which could be ascribed to the synergistic effect of wound closure under wet state as well as intrinsic hemostatic activity of CS.As a superior hemostatic sealant,the unique hydrogel proposed in this work can be exploited to offer significant advantages in the acute wound and massive hemorrhage with the restrictive access of therapeutic moieties.Ziwen Qiao Xueli Lv Shaohua He Shumeng Bai Xiaochen Liu Linxi Hou Jingjing He Dongmei Tong Renjie Ruan Jin Zhang Jianxun Ding Huanghao Yang 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,9:14
3Cold hardiness estimation of Pinus densiflora var. zhangwuensis based on changes in ionic leakage, chlorophyll fluorescence and other physiological activities under cold stress显示文摘Pinus densiflora var. zhangwuensis grows fast,and its drought and salinity resistance are better than Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica. We compared cold hardiness and mechanisms of cold hardiness between the two species, to provide a theoretical basis for promoting and applying P.densiflora var. zhangwuensis in cold regions. A cold stress experiment was carried out on 3-year-old plantlets of P.densiflora var. zhangwuensis and P. sylvestris var. mongolica after hardening at five temperature regimes, 5,-10,-20,-40, and-60℃, respectively. Some indices of needle samples for both species were measured, such as relative conductivity(REL), maximum photochemical efficiency(F_v/F_m), malondialdehyde(MDA), catalase(CAT), proline(Pro), soluble sugar(SS), and stomata density. REL and MDA values of both species after hardening had the same trend of increasing, but the trend was opposite in F_v/F_mvalue with increasing cold stress. Compared with P. sylvestris var. mongolica, the P. densiflora var. zhangwuensis had smaller increases in REL and MDA,and a smaller decline in F_v/F_mduring cold stress. Compared to the control, REL growth of P. densiflora var.zhangwuensis and P. sylvestris var. mongolica at-60℃ were 0.41 and 0.60, and MDA growth was 29.94 mol g^-1FW and 47.80 mol g^-1FW, and F_v/F_mdeclines were 0.08 and 0.27. Half-lethal temperatures(LT_50) calculated by logistic equation for P. densiflora var. zhangwuensis and P.sylvestris var. mongolica were-58.23 and-50.34℃,respectively. These data suggest that cold resistance of P.densiflora var. zhangwuensis is stronger than that of P.sylvestris var. mongolica. Cold-resistance mechanisms of the two species differed. In response to cold stress, P.sylvestris var. mongolica had strong osmotic adjustment ability because of higher Pro and SS content, while P.densiflora var. zhangwuensis had strong antioxidant ability due to stronger CAT activity. 6Advantages of targeting the tumor immune microenvironment over blocking immune checkpoint in cancer immunotherapy显示文摘Despite great success in cancer immunotherapy,immune checkpoint-targeting drugs are not the most popular weapon in the armory of cancer therapy.Accumulating evidence suggests that the tumor immune microenvironment plays a critical role in anticancer immunity,which may result in immune checkpoint blockade therapy being ineffective,in addition to other novel immunotherapies in cancer patients.In the present review,we discuss the deficiencies of current cancer immunotherapies.More importantly,we highlight the critical role of tumor immune microenvironment regulators in tumor immune surveillance,immunological evasion,and the potential for their further translation into clinical practice.Based on their general targetability in clinical therapy,we believe that tumor immune microenvironment regulators are promising cancer immunotherapeutic targets.Targeting the tumor immune microenvironment,alone or in combination with immune checkpoint-targeting drugs,might benefit cancer patients in the future.Tianyu Tang Xing Huang Gang Zhang Zhengtao Hong Xueli Bai Tingbo Liang 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,3:3

13Auto-intestine transplantation for pancreatic tumors with mesenteric root involvement:a systematic review and survival-based analysis显示文摘To analyze a long-term survival outcome of an auto-intestine transplantation(aINTx)for the patients with locally advanced pancreatic tumor and identify the potential prognostic factors,databases were carefully searched for the studies reporting the patients with a locally advanced pancreatic tumor which typically underwent aINTx.We performed a database search using PubMed,the Cochrane Library,EMBASE,and MEDLINE to identify multiple case series of the patients who had pancreatic tumors with mesenteric root involvement and underwent aINTx,to evaluate the treatment outcomes,and calculated the patient survival using the Kaplan–Meier method and Cox proportional hazard regression analysis to properly identify an independent predictor of the survival.A total of 9 retrospective studies with a total of 29 patients were included in our study.The calculated 1-,2-,and 3-year survival rates for the patients with pancreatic cancer and benign or low grade pancreatic tumors were 49.64%,22.06%,and 0%versus 100%,100%,and 80%,respectively.The corresponding median survival time was 13.4months and 84months,respectively.Moreover,when stratifying the pancreatic cancer patients undergoing aINTx on the basis of neoadjuvant chemotherapy(aINTx+neoadjuvant vs aINTx-neoadjuvant)there was a significant difference in the survival(P=0.01).The 1-and 2-year survival rates were 75%and 75%versus 34.1%and 0%,respectively.Corresponding median survival times were 24months and 10months,respectively.Our analysis shows the long-term survival benefit with acceptable morbidity and mortality of pancreatoduodenectomy and aINTx for the pancreatic tumors with the mesenteric root involvement that are otherwise unresectable by the conventional surgical techniques.However,from an oncological point of view,a larger study with the control group is required to determine its safety compared to less aggressive surgical treatment.Dipesh Kumar Yadav Xing Huang Qi Zhang Gang Zhang Xueli Bai Tingbo Liang 2021Journal of Pancreatology2021,4,4:1

16Explorations in Teaching Research by a Tutoring Institution in China显示文摘Purpose:This article focuses on rarely explored organizational practice of teaching research in China’s private tutoring industry.Taking a large private tutoring institution as an example,the article examines how private tutoring institutions understand and engage in educational explorations of standardization and informatization processes.Design/Approach/Methods:The article is based on a case study of one of the biggest tutoring companies in China.The study started with document analysis of the institutional history,supplemented by interviews with personnel who have worked in the institution since it was founded.Next,the researchers collected empirical data using mixed methods.Quantitative data were obtained from the user database owned by the institution.Qualitative data were collected directly by the researchers through interviews and participant observation.Both qualitative and quantitative data were analyzed from multiple perspectives.Findings:Teaching research in private tutoring institutions commonly differs from that in public schooling.In this particular case,it is technology-driven,student-tailored,and processstandardized.Utilized well,it can supplement the mainstream public education system and promote education innovation and equity throughout the country.Originality/Value:It is hoped that this article could give some insights into the possibility of the cooperation between formal schools and tutoring institutions in the areas of teaching research and other in-class and off-campus activities.The article can also draw public attention to the necessity and benefits of adopting technical methods in the teaching process.Yunfeng Bai Xueli Tang Xingfang Li Shunan Fan 2019ECNU Review of Education2019,2,1:1
