Processes of coastal ecosystem carbon sequestration and approaches for increasing carbon sink显示文摘The oceans are the largest carbon pools on Earth, and play the role of a 'buffer' in climate change. Blue carbon, the carbon(mainly organic carbon) captured by marine ecosystems, is one of the important mechanisms of marine carbon storage.Blue carbon was initially recognized only in the form of visible coastal plant carbon sequestration. In fact, microorganisms(phytoplankton, bacteria, archaea, viruses, and protozoa), which did not receive much attention in the past, account for more than 90% of the total marine biomass and are the main contributors to blue carbon. Chinese coastal seas, equivalent to 1/3 of China's total land area, have a huge carbon sink potential needing urgently research and development. In this paper, we focus on the processes and mechanisms of coastal ocean's carbon sequestration and the approaches for increasing that sequestration. We discuss the structures of coastal ecosystems, the processes of carbon cycle, and the mechanisms of carbon sequestration. Using the evolution of coastal ocean's carbon sinks in sedimentary records over geologic times, we also discuss the possible effects of natural processes and anthropogenic activities on marine carbon sinks. Finally, we discuss the prospect of using carbon sequestration engineering for increasing coastal ocean's carbon storage capacity. | ZHANG Yao ZHAO MeiXun CUI Qiu FAN Wei QI JiaGuo CHEN Ying ZHANG YongYu GAO KunShan FAN JingFeng WANG GuangYi YAN ChongLing LU HaoLiang LUO YaWei ZHANG ZiLian ZHENG Qiang XIAO Wei JIAO NianZhi | 2017 | Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,5: | 6
Chinese expert consensus on conversion therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma(2021 edition)显示文摘Recent advances in systemic and locoregional treatments for patients with unresectable or advanced hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)have resulted in improved response rates. This has provided an opportunity for selected patients with initially unresectable HCC to achieve adequate tumor downstaging to undergo surgical resection,a‘conversion therapy’strategy. However, conversion therapy is a new approach to the treatment of HCC and its practice and treatment protocols are still being developed.Review the evidence for conversion therapy in HCC and develop consensus statements to guide clinical practice.Evidence review:Many research centers in China have accumulated significant experience implementing HCC conversion therapy.Preliminary findings and data have shown that conversion therapy represents an important strategy to maximize the survival of selected patients with intermediate stage to advanced HCC;however, there are still many urgent clinical and scientific challenges for this therapeutic strategy and its related fields. In order to summarize and learn from past experience and review current challenges, the Chinese Expert Consensus on Conversion Therapy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma(2021 Edition)was developed based on a review of preliminary experience and clinical data from Chinese and non-Chinese studies in this field and combined with recommendations for clinical practice.Sixteen consensus statements on the implementation of conversion therapy for HCC were developed. The statements generated in this review are based on a review of clinical evidence and real clinical experience and will help guide future progress in conversion therapy for patients with HCC. | Hui-Chuan Sun Jian Zhou Zheng Wang Xiufeng Liu Qing Xie Weidong Jia Ming Zhao Xinyu Bi Gong Li Xueli Bai Yuan Ji Li Xu Xiao-Dong Zhu Dousheng Bai Yajin Chen Yongjun Chen Chaoliu Dai Rongping Guo Wenzhi Guo Chunyi Hao Tao Huang Zhiyong Huang Deyu Li Gang Li Tao Li Xiangcheng Li Guangming Li Xiao Liang Jingfeng Liu Fubao Liu Shichun Lu Zheng Lu Weifu Lv Yilei Mao Guoliang Shao Yinghong Shi Tianqiang Song Guang Tan Yunqiang Tang Kaishan Tao Chidan Wan Guangyi Wang Lu Wang Shunxiang Wang Tianfu Wen Baocai Xing Bangde Xiang Sheng Yan Dinghua Yang Guowen Yin Tao Yin Zhenyu Yin Zhengping Yu Bixiang Zhang Jialin Zhang Shuijun Zhang Ti Zhang Yamin Zhang Yubao Zhang Aibin Zhang Haitao Zhao Ledu Zhou Wu Zhang Zhenyu Zhu Shukui Qin Feng Shen Xiujun Cai Gaojun Teng Jianqiang Cai Minshan Chen Qiang Li Lianxin Liu Weilin Wang Tingbo Liang Jiahong Dong Xiaoping Chen Xuehao Wang Shusen Zheng Jia Fan 无 | 2022 | Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2022,11,2: | 4
Development of metal-organic framework(MOF) decorated graphene oxide/Mg Al-layered double hydroxide coating via microstructural optimization for anti-corrosion micro-arc oxidation coatings of magnesium alloy显示文摘An efcient and simple in-situ growth strategy has been discovered for the preparation of highly reproducible and continuous symbiotic ZIF-8-based anticorrosion coating by using graphene oxide(GO)/Mg AlNO3layered double hydroxides(G/LDHs) buffer layer as a new type of connecting carrier based on micro-arc oxide(MAO) coating of AZ31 magnesium alloy. The components of ZIF-8 were adsorbed and bounded to the surface of the G/LDHs buffer layer-modified substrates to promote the nucleation of ZIF-8,thus growing a phase-pure, uniform, and good symbiosis ZIF-8 membrane. ZIF-8 particles with different growth times compensate for the grain boundary defects of the G/LDHs coating precursor buffer layer to different degrees. The prepared ZIF-8-based coating has excellent stability and corrosion resistance. The results demonstrate that the G/LDHs buffer layer provides a new channel for the MOF-modified MAO substrate of AZ31 magnesium alloy. It also proves that it is feasible to build high-performance anticorrosive coatings with MOF materials. | Yanning Chen Liang Wu Wenhui Yao Jiahao Wu Jianpeng Xiang Xiaowei Dai Tao Wu Yuan Yuan Jingfeng Wang Bin Jiang Fusheng Pan | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,35: | 3
Biomolecule-assisted Solvothermal Synthesis of Bismuth Sulfide Nanorods显示文摘A simple biomolecule-assisted synthetic route has been successfully developed to prepare bismuth sulfide(Bi 2 S 3 ) nanorods under solvothermal conditions. In the synthetic system, pentahydrate bismuth nitrate was employed to supply Bi source and L-cystine was used as sulfide source and complexing agent. The morphology, structure, and phase composition of the as-prepared Bi 2 S 3 products were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),energy dispersion spectroscopy(EDS),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),selected area electron diffraction(SAED),and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM).The experimental results show that the nanorods have uniform diameter of 100-200 nm and length of 2-4 μm.The possible formation mechanism for the bismuth sulfide nanorods was discussed. | Jiasong Zhong Weidong Xian Lijun Liu Xinyu Yan Wen Cai Jingfeng Zhang Xiaojuan Liang | 2010 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2010,26,5: | 3
Effects of Epstein-Barr virus infection on the development of multiple myeloma after liver transplantation显示文摘Reduced cellular immune function in patients after liver transplantation easily results in many types of viral infections, such as Epstein-Barr virus.Epstein-Barr virus is a γ-herpesvirus and is related to many malignant diseases, especially epithelial and lymph tumors. The abnormal interaction of cluster of differentiation 40 with cluster of differentiation 40 ligand and expression of cluster of differentiation 40 ligand are considered closely related to the development of myeloma cells. This study explored the influence and mechanism of Epstein-Barr virus infection on the phenotype and biological behavior of myeloma cells after liver transplantation.Flow cytometry was used to detect coexpression of cluster of differentiation 40 and cluster of differentiation 40 ligand in 10 samples of freshly isolated multiple myeloma cells.Cluster of differentiation 40 and cluster of differentiation 40 ligand were coexpressed in sample Nos.5,8,9,and 10,particularly in sample No.5.Western blot analysis was used to detect the expression of the Epstein-Barr virus antigens latent membrane protein 1 and Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen 2 in the multiple myeloma cell line RPMI 8226 infected with Epstein-Barr virus. The antigen expression indicated that Epstein-Barr virus can infect multiple myeloma virus cells in vitro.Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction revealed upregulated expression of cluster of differentiation 40 ligand on the infected RPMI 8226 cells, which may be involved in the anti-apoptosis activity of the infected cells.Confocal microscopy showed that pairs of molecules of cluster of differentiation 40,cluster of differentiation 40 ligand, and latent membrane protein 1 were colocalized on the surface of the infected cells.CXC chemokine receptor 4 was upregulated on the RPMI 8226 cells after Epstein-Barr virus infection. The migratory ability of the infected cells improved in the presence of the chemokine stromal cell-derived factor-1α.Anti-apoptosis and migration are known important biological characteristics of malignant cells. Our results indicate the involvement of Epstein-Barr virus in the origin and development of multiple myeloma. The risk of multiple myeloma increases when Epstein-Barr virus infects B cells in the germinal center, which may result in an anti-apoptosis effect of B cells and an improved ability to migrate from the germinal center to peripheral blood. | ZHANG YeWei ZHAO HeWei HE Xia ZHENG SuWen WANG TaiHong YAN DongLiang SUN JingFeng LU Xiang WEN JianFei LAU Wan Yee | 2012 | Science China(Life Sciences)2012,55,8: | 2

Study on the effects of the different polar group of EPA-enriched phospholipids on the proliferation and apoptosis in 95D cells显示文摘EPA-enriched phosphatidylcholine(EPA-PC)and EPA-enriched phosphatidylethanolamine(EPA-PE)are newly identified marine phospholipids. The polar group of phospholipids is known to influence EPA-phospholipid activity. However, the differences in anti-tumor effects between EPA-PC and EPA-PE have not been reported. In this study,we evaluated the effects of two forms of EPA on the proliferation and apoptosis in the lung-cancer cell line 95D as well as possible molecular mechanisms. Our results showed that EPA-PC effectively inhibited proliferative activity and promoted apoptosis of 95D cells in a dose-dependent manner, while EPA-PE had no effect on cell proliferation, although it slightly promoted apoptosis.Western blot results showed that EPA-PC and EPA-PE upregulated the expression of PPARy,RXRoc,and PTEN,and downregulated the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.Furthermore,EPA-PC and EPA-PE induced the expression of the pro-apoptotic gene,Bax,and reduced the expression of the anti-apoptotic gene,Bcl-xl.Additionally,EPA-PC and EPA-PE promoted the release of cytochrome c and activated the apoptotic enzyme-cleaved caspase-3.These data suggest that the anti-tumor effect of EPA-phospholipids may be exerted via a PPARy-related mechanism.EPA-PC was more efficacious as compared to EPA-PE,which might be due to the different polar groups of phospholipids. | Yao Guo Qin Zhao Yingying Tian Yuanyuan Liu Ziyi Yan Changhu Xue Jingfeng Wang | 2021 | Marine Life Science & Technology2021,3,4: | 1
Estrogen intervention in microvascular morphology and choline acetyltransferase expression in rat hippocampal neurons in chronic cerebral ischemia显示文摘We observed dynamic changes in microvessels and a protective effect of estrogen on chronic cerebral ischemia ovariectomized rat models established through permanent occlusion of bilateral carotid arteries at 7,14 and 21 days. The results revealed that estrogen improved microvasculature in the hippocampus of chronic cerebral ischemic rats, upregulated Bcl-2 protein expression, downregulated Bax protein expression, increased choline acetyltransferase expression in hippocampal cholinergic neurons, and suppressed hippocampal neuronal apoptosis. These findings indicate that estrogen can protect hippocampal neurons in rats with chronic cerebral ischemia. | Zhenjun Yang Hongwei Yan Guomin Zhang Zhihong Chen Jingfeng xue | 2011 | Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,17: | 1

Highly Soluble Phenylethynyl-terminated Imide Oligomers and Thermosetting Polyimides Based on 2,2′3,3′-Biphenyltetracarboxylic Dianhydride显示文摘The properties of a series of imide oligomers were characterized according to their molecular weights, solubility, and thermal and rheological properties. This series of imide oligomers was synthesized via a two-step method using 2,2′,3,3′-biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride(3,3′-BPDA) and aromatic diamines as the monomers, and 4-phenylethynyl phtlialic anhydride(PEPA) as the end-capping agent. The imide oligomers based on 3,3′-BPDA showed excellent solubility in low boiling point solvents and low melt viscosity, which were attributed to their unique bent architectures. High-performance thermosetting polyimides were produced from these oligomers via thermal crosslinking of the phenylethynyl groups. The mechanical and thermal properties of the thermosets were studied using tensile testing, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis(DMTA), and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA). The 3,3′EPDA-based thermosets exhibited excellent thermal properties, with glass transition temperatures of up to 455℃, and 5% mass loss temperatures of up to 569℃ in air. The thermosets based on 3,3-BPDA showed superior thermal properties compared to those derived from TriA-X series oligomers. | MENG Xiangsheng LU Gewu LIU Xiuju MENG Qingjie SHI Junwei YUAN Hang KE Hongjun WANG Xianwei FAN Weifeng LIU Jingfeng YAN Jingling WANG Zhen | 2019 | Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2019,35,3: | 1
Establishment of a CouplingModel for the Prediction of Heat Dissipation of the Internal Combustion Engine Based on Finite Element显示文摘The aerodynamics and heat transfer performance in the rear-mounted automobile cabin have an important influence on the engine’s safety and the operational stability of the automobile. The article uses STARCCM and GT-COOL software to establish the 3D wind tunnel model and engine cooling system model of the internal combustion engine. At the same time,we established a 3D artificial coupling model through parameter transfer. The research results show that the heat transfer coefficient decreases with the increase of the comprehensive drag coefficient of the nacelle. This shows that the cabin flow field has an important influence on the heat transfer coefficient.Themainstream temperature rise of the engine room increases with the increase of the engine load.It is proved that vehicle speed affects the amount of heat dissipation of the engine room internal combustion engine under certain load conditions. The article provides a more effective and fast calculation method for the research on the heat dissipation of the internal combustion engine and the optimization of the cooling system equipment. | Hongyu Mu Yinyan Wang Hong Teng Xingtian Zhao Xiaolong Zhang Yan Jin Shiyang Hao Jingfeng Zhao | 2022 | Energy Engineering2022,119,3: | 0
Effects of Dietary Protein Variations at Different Life-stages on Vocal Dominance of the African Clawed Frogs显示文摘How nutritional conditions during early development affect an organism’s phenotype at adulthood is still poorly understood despite a plethora of research on developmental plasticity. The'environmental matching'hypothesis predicts that individuals will have high fitness providing that their adult environment'matches'what they experienced during development. In contrast, the'silver spoon'hypothesis predicts that individuals who obtain better developmental resources will be generally superior. Here we tested these two hypotheses and examined the underlying hormonal mechanisms by manipulating the early dietary protein content of African clawed frogs(Xenopus laevis)for a year with a 2×2 factorial experimental design. We found that only a lowprotein food during development enhanced the vocal competition ability of male X.laevis, and that vocal dominance was associated with higher cortisol levels but not related with testosterone content. These results were not congruent with the'environmental matching'hypothesis or with the'silver spoon'hypothesis, suggesting the behavioral plasticity during development is more complex than our expectation in amphibians. | Yan CAO Jiangyan SHEN Xiaocui WANG Song TAN Ping LI Jianghong RAN Yezhong TANG Jingfeng CHEN | 2020 | Asian Herpetological Research2020,11,3: | 0
Epidemiological characteristics and clinical manifestations of pediatric patients with COVID-19 in China: A multicenter retrospective study显示文摘Importance:The Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)global pandemic poses a considerable challenge for pediatricians. Objective:This study aimed to identify the epidemiological characteristics and clinical features of pediatric patients with COVID-19 in China. Methods:This multicenter retrospective study included pediatric patients from 46 hospitals in China, covering 12 provinces and two municipalities.Epidemiological, demographic, clinical, laboratory, treatment, and outcome data were analyzed. Results:In total,211 pediatric patients with COVID-19 were included in this study. The median age was 7.0 years(range:22 days to 18 years).Approximately 16.3%of the patients exhibited asymptomatic infections,23.0%had upper respiratory tract infections, and 60.7%had pneumonia, including two with severe pneumonia and one with critical illness.Approximately 78.7%of the pediatric patients occurred in familial clusters. The most three common symptoms or signs at onset in children with COVID-19 were fever(54.5%),cough(49.3%),and pharyngeal congestion(20.8%).Only 17.6%of the patients presented with decreased lymphocyte count, whereas 13.6%had increased lymphocyte count.Among the patients with pneumonia who exhibited abnormal chest computed tomography findings,18.2%(23/127)of the patients had no other symptoms.Generally, the chest radiographs showed abnormalities that affected both lungs(49.6%);ground-glass opacity(47.2%)was the most common manifestation. The cure and improvement rates were 86.7%(183/211)and 13.3%(28/211),respectively.Only one patient with an underlying condition received invasive mechanical ventilation;none of the patients died.Interpretation:Similar to adults, children of all age groups are susceptible to COVID-19.Fortunately,most pediatric patients have mild symptoms or remain asymptomatic, despite the high incidence of pneumonia.Decreased proportions of white blood cells and lymphocytes are less frequent in children than in adults. | Yan Bai Liwei Gao Xianfeng Wang Lili Zhong Jingfeng Li Shenggang Ding Yuejie Zheng Jun Liu Yuxia Cui Lina Wang Mingfeng Han Jun Liu Xinping Jiang Min Jiang Junhua Li Ning Chen Yunxiao Shang Hourong Zhou Yi Xu Gen Lu Xing Chen Jizhi Xu Qihong Fan Yu Tang Jiang Wu Cen Li Xiaoxiang Yang Chunxi Chen Yonghong Yang Gary Wing-Kin Wong Adong Shen Tianyou Wang Runming Jin Baoping Xu Kunling Shen | 2021 | Pediatric Investigation2021,5,3: | 0
