| 1 | The 2016 Summer Floods in China and Associated Physical Mechanisms:A Comparison with 1998显示文摘The characteristics of droughts and floods in China during the summers(May–August)of 2016 and 1998 were compared in great detail,together with the associated atmospheric circulations and external-forcing factors.Following results are obtained.(1)The precipitation was mostly above normal in China in summer 2016,with two main rainfall belts located in the Yangtze River valley(YRV)and North China.Compared with 1998,a similar rainfall belt was located over the YRV,with precipitation 100%and more above normal.However,the seasonal processes of Meiyu were different.A typical'Secondary Meiyu'occurred in 1998,whereas dry conditions dominated the YRV in2016.(2)During May–July 2016,the Ural high was weaker than normal,but it was stronger than normal in 1998.This difference resulted from fairly different distributions of sea surface temperature anomalies(SSTAs)over the North Atlantic Ocean during the preceding winter and spring of the two years.(3)Nonetheless,tropical and subtropical circulation systems were much more similar in May–July of 2016 and 1998.The circulation systems in both years were characterized by a stronger than normal and more westward-extending western Pacific subtropical high(WPSH),a weaker than normal East Asian summer monsoon(EASM),and anomalous convergence of moisture flux in the mid and lower reaches of the YRV.These similar circulation anomalies were attributed to the similar tropical SSTA pattern in the preceding seasons,i.e.,the super El Ni?o and strong warming in the tropical Indian Ocean.(4)Significant differences in the circulation pattern were observed in August between the two years.The WPSH broke up in August 2016,with its western part being combined with the continental high and persistently dominating eastern China.The EASM suddenly became stronger,and dry conditions prevailed in the YRV.On the contrary,the EASM was weaker in August 1998 and the'Secondary Meiyu'took place in the YRV.The Madden–Julian Oscillation(MJO)was extremely active in August 2016 and stayed in western Pacific for 25 days.It triggered frequent tropical cyclone activities and further influenced the significant turning of tropical and subtropical circulations in August2016.In contrast,the MJO was active over the tropical Indian Ocean in August 1998,conducive to the maintenance of a strong WPSH.Alongside the above oceanic factors and atmospheric circulation anomalies,the thermal effect of snow cover over the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau from the preceding winter to spring in 2016 was much weaker than that in 1998.This may explain the relatively stronger EASM and more abundant precipitation in North China in 2016than those in 1998. | Yuan YUAN Hui GAO Weijing LI Yanju LIU Lijuan CHEN Bin ZHOU Yihui DING | 2017 | Journal of Meteorological Research2017,31,2: | 11 |

| 4 | The Tibetan Plateau Surface–Atmosphere Coupling System and Its Weather and Climate Effects: The Third Tibetan Plateau Atmospheric Science Experiment显示文摘The Tibetan Plateau(TP) is a key area affecting forecasts of weather and climate in China and occurrences of extreme weather and climate events over the world. The China Meteorological Administration, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly initiated the Third Tibetan Plateau Atmospheric Science Experiment(TIPEX-Ⅲ) in 2013, with an 8–10-yr implementation plan. Since its preliminary field measurements conducted in 2013, routine automatic sounding systems have been deployed at Shiquanhe, Gaize, and Shenzha stations in western TP, where no routine sounding observations were available previously. The observational networks for soil temperature and soil moisture in the central and western TP have also been established. Meanwhile, the plateau-scale and regional-scale boundary layer observations, cloud–precipitation microphysical observations with multiple radars and aircraft campaigns, and tropospheric–stratospheric air composition observations at multiple sites, were performed. The results so far show that the turbulent heat exchange coefficient and sensible heat flux are remarkably lower than the earlier estimations at grassland, meadow, and bare soil surfaces of the central and western TP. Climatologically, cumulus clouds over the main body of the TP might develop locally instead of originating from the cumulus clouds that propagate northward from South Asia. The TIPEX-Ⅲ observations up to now also reveal diurnal variations, macro-and microphysical characteristics, and water-phase transition mechanisms, of cumulus clouds at Naqu station. Moreover, TIPEX-Ⅲ related studies have proposed a maintenance mechanism responsible for the Asian 'atmospheric water tower' and demonstrated the effects of the TP heating anomalies on African, Asian, and North American climates. Additionally, numerical modeling studies show that the Γ distribution of raindrop size is more suitable for depicting the TP raindrop characteristics compared to the M–P distribution, the overestimation of sensible heat flux can be reduced via modifying the heat transfer parameterization over the TP, and considering climatic signals in some key areas of the TP can improve the skill for rainfall forecast in the central and eastern parts of China. | 5 | Aggregation-enhanced emission and efficient electroluminescence of conjugated polymers containing tetraphenylethene units显示文摘Tetraphenylethene (TPE) is a popular luminogen characterized by aggregation-induced emission and has been widely used to construct solid-state emissive materials. In this work, two thermally stable polymers (P1 and P2) consisting of TPE conjugated to the 2,7-positions of fluorene and carbazole, respectively, are synthesized and characterized. Both polymers are weakly fluorescent in solutions but show greatly enhanced emission as the aggregate formation, presenting an aggregation-enhanced emission feature. Two kinds of polymer light-emitting diodes are fabricated utilizing P1 and P2 as emitters (EML) (device I: ITO/PEDOT:PSS (45 nm)/PVK:EML (1:1 wt%, 55 nm)/TPBI (38 nm)/Ca:Ag; device II: ITO/PEDOT:PSS (45 nm)/ PVK:OXD-7:EML (3:1:3 wt%, 55 nm)/TPBI (38 nm)/Ca:Ag). | 6 | Culture and Identification of Myoblasts Isolated from Duck Embryos显示文摘[Objective] Using embryonic myoblasts to research the formation and developmental mechanisms of skeletal muscle is becoming a research hotspot. This study aimed to establish a method of isolation, culture and identification of myoblasts in duck embryos. [Method] Pectoral and leg muscle samples were isolated from the embryos of Gaoyou duck at 13 d of hatching, then disassociated with collagenase and trypsin and purified via differential adhesion. The isolated cells were cultured in vitro and detected for the expression of Pax7 protein using immunofluorescence technique. [Result] Myoblasts were obtained successfully both from pectoral and leg muscles in duck embryos and these cells proliferated strongly and differentiated well. Immunofluorescence staining showed that more than 95% cells could express Pax7 protein. | 8 | A New Detecting Method for the Sequence Difference of CHD1 Gene on Sex Chromosomes Z and W in Domesticated Ducks of China显示文摘A new method for detecting the sequence differences of duck Chromo-helicase-DNA-Binding 1( CHD1) genes on sex chromosomes Z and W was established by amplifying DNA fragment length poly morphism,which aimed to solve some technical problems,such as the sex identification with nondamage,the misclassifc rate of artificial sex identification during embryonic period,and the injury caused by anal reversal identification method during neonatal period. The improved sex identification method was developed by DNA amplified fragment length polymorphism by using CHD1 gene sequence in bird. The sex identification PCR primers YPF/YPR were used,and the PCR product was cloned,sequenced and blasted; and the effectiveness and accuracy of this method were verified through living examples. 2% agarose gel electrophoresis was used to distinguish 495 bp CHD1-Z and 351 bp CHD1-W obtained by primer YPF/YPR. The female( ZW) displayed two visible bands; while male( ZZ) had only one single band. | 17 | Diffusion of a Nonvolatile Fuel Spray in Swirl Flow显示文摘The diffusion of fuel spray in swirl flow is vital for the combustion of diesel engine,however,the researches on this is still mysterious due to the obstacles on direct investigations on a real engine.The research of intake swirl in engine at present normally use CFD simulation or based on data analysis of combustion and exhaust emission,the specific mixing process of fuel in swirl flow still not very clear.In this paper,a rapid compression machine(RCM)with an optical combustion chamber was established with the mean compression velocity of 7.55 m/s.Three kinds of flow fields,including intense swirl field,weak swirl field and turbulent field,were conducted to investigate the diffusion characteristics of injected fuel,the mixing processes of fuel spray in the swirl flow fields were recorded by the high-speed camera.Experimental results show that the mixing of fuel spray in air consists of four stages:fuel injection,wall approaching,rapid diffusion and final diffusion.The fuel spray is firstly bended by the lateral flow of the swirl field,then liquid fuel is blown onto,and coats on,the sidewall.The fuel on the sidewall is finally enrolled into the chamber plenum afterwards in gaseous phase via the spiral arms(in swirl fields)or random routes(in turbulent field)At last the fuel disperses all over the chamber.The results give an intuitive observation and help better understand the air-fuel mixing process in diesel and direct inject gasoline engines. | Yanju Wei Jie Zhang Shengcai Deng Yajie Zhang Yajing Yang Hao Chen | 2021 | Energy Engineering2021,118,1: | 0 |
