| 1 | Synthesis of Porous NiO Nanocrystals with Controllable Surface Area and Their Application as Supercapacitor Electrodes显示文摘We report a facile way to grow various porous NiO nanostructures including nanoslices,nanoplates,and nanocolumns,which show a structure-dependence in their specific charge capacitances.The formation of controllable porosity is due to the dehydration and re-crystallization of β-Ni(OH)_(2) nanoplates synthesized by a hydrothermal process.Thermogravimetric analysis shows that the decomposition temperature of the β-Ni(OH)_(2) nanostructures is related to their morphology.In electrochemical tests,the porous NiO nanostructures show stable cycling performance with retention of specific capacitance over 1000 cycles.Interestingly,the formation of nanocolumns by the stacking of β-Ni(OH)_(2) nanoslices/plates favors the creation of small pores in the NiO nanocrystals obtained after annealing,and the surface area is over five times larger than that of NiO nanoslices and nanoplates.Consequently,the specific capacitance of the porous NiO nanocolumns(390 F/g)is significantly higher than that of the nanoslices(176 F/g)or nanoplates(285 F/g)at a discharge current of 5 A/g.This approach provides a clear illustration of the process-structure-property relationship in nanocrystal synthesis and potentially offers strategies to enhance the performance of supercapacitor electrodes. | Xiaojun Zhang Wenhui Shi Jixin Zhu Weiyun Zhao Jan Ma Subodh Mhaisalkar Tuti Lim Maria Yanhui Yang Hua Zhang Huey Hoon Hng Qingyu Yan | 2010 | Nano Research2010,3,9: | 24 |
| 2 | Olive leaf extract inhibits lead poisoning-induced brain injury显示文摘Olive leaves have an antioxidant capacity,and olive leaf extract can protect the blood,spleen and hippocampus in lead-poisoned mice.However,little is known about the effects of olive leaf extract on lead-induced brain injury.This study was designed to determine whether olive leaf extract can inhibit lead-induced brain injury,and whether this effect is associated with antioxidant capacity.First,we established a mouse model of lead poisoning by continuous intragastric administration of lead acetate for 30 days.Two hours after successful model establishment,lead-poisoned mice were given olive leaf extract at doses of 250,500 or 1000 mg/kg daily by intragastric administration for 50 days.Under the transmission electron microscope,olive leaf extract attenuated neuronal and capillary injury and reduced damage to organelles and the matrix around the capillaries in the frontal lobe of the cerebral cortex in the lead-poisoned mice.Olive leaf extract at a dose of 1000 mg/kg had the greatest protective effect.Spectrophotometry showed that olive leaf extract significantly increased the activities of superoxide dismutase,catalase,alkaline phosphatase and acid phosphatase,while it reduced malondialdehyde content,in a dose-dependent manner.Furthermore,immunohistochemical staining revealed that olive leaf extract dose-dependently decreased Bax protein expression in the cerebral cortex of lead-poisoned mice.Our findings indicate that olive leaf extract can inhibit lead-induced brain injury by increasing antioxidant capacity and reducing apoptosis. | Yu Wang Shengqing Wang Wenhui Cui Jiujun He Zhenfu Wang Xiaolu Yang | 2013 | Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,22: | 21 |
| 3 | An EcoCity model for regulating urban land cover structure and thermal environment: Taking Beijing as an example显示文摘Urban land-use/cover changes and their effects on the eco-environment have long been an active research topic in the urbanization field. However, the characteristics of urban inner spatial heterogeneity and its quantitative relationship with thermal environment are still poorly understood, resulting in ineffective application in urban ecological planning and management.Through the integration of 'spatial structure theory' in urban geography and 'surface energy balance' in urban climatology, we proposed a new concept of urban surface structure and thermal environment regulation to reveal the mechanism between urban spatial structure and surface thermal environment. We developed the EcoCity model for regulating urban land cover structure and thermal environment, and established the eco-regulation thresholds of urban surface thermal environments. Based on the comprehensive analysis of experimental observation, remotely sensed and meteorological data, we examined the spatial patterns of urban habitation, industrial, infrastructure service, and ecological spaces. We examined the impacts of internal land-cover components(e.g., urban impervious surfaces, greenness, and water) on surface radiation and heat flux. This research indicated that difference of thermal environments among urban functional areas is closely related to the proportions of the land-cover components.The highly dense impervious surface areas in commercial and residential zones significantly increased land surface temperature through increasing sensible heat flux, while greenness and water decrease land surface temperature through increasing latent heat flux. We also found that different functional zones due to various proportions of green spaces have various heat dissipation roles and ecological thresholds. Urban greening projects in highly dense impervious surfaces areas such as commercial, transportation, and residential zones are especially effective in promoting latent heat dissipation efficiency of vegetation, leading to strongly cooling effect of unit vegetation coverage. This research indicates that the EcoCity model provides the fundamentals to understand the coupled mechanism between urban land use structure and surface flux and the analysis of their spatiotemporal characteristics. | 4 | Rare Earth Element Geochemistry of Late Palaeozoic Coals in North China显示文摘Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA) was done to determine the abundances of rare earth elements (REE) of 58 samples of Late Palaeozoic Carboniferous-Permian coals and related rocks in North China. Detailed study of REE geochemistry shows that the ∑REE of most coals studied in this paper is in a normal range between 30×10-6 and 80×10-6 with a mean of 56×10-6. The REE in the Taiyuan Formation in the northern part of North China are much richer than those in the southern part. This is due to the shorter distance to the source area in the north. Moreover, the IREE is in positive correlation to coal ash, especially closely related to the content of clay minerals <2μm in size. This reveals that most REE were carried by terrigenous clastic materials, especially fine clay minerals. In the coals the light REE (LREE) are much richer than the heavy REE (HREE), and the LREE/HREE ratio in coals generally varies from 2 to 8. | 6 | Identification of immunoreactive proteins of Brucella melitensis by immunoproteomics显示文摘Infection with Brucella causes brucellosis, a chronic disease in humans, which induces abortion and sterility in livestock. Among the different Brucella species, Brucella melitensis is considered the most virulent and is the predominant species associated with outbreaks in China. To date, no safe human vaccine is available against Brucella infection. The currently used live vaccines against Brucella in livestock induce antibodies that interfere with the diagnosis of field infection in vaccinated animals, which is harmful to eradication programs. However, there is as yet no complete profile of immunogenic proteins of B. melitensis. Towards the development of a safer, equally efficacious, and field infection-distinguishable vaccine, we used immunoproteomics to identify novel candidate immunogenic proteins from B. melitensis M5. Eighty-eight immunoreactive protein spots from B. melitensis M5 were identified by Western blotting and were assigned to sixty-one proteins by mass spectrometry, including many new immunoreactive proteins such as elongation factor G, F0F1 ATP synthase subunit beta, and OMP1. | 7 | Remote sensing-based artificial surface cover classification in Asia and spatial pattern analysis显示文摘Artificial surfaces, characterized with intensive land-use changes and complex landscape structures, are important indicators of human impacts on terrestrial ecosystems. Without high-resolution land-cover data at continental scale, it is hard to evaluate the impacts of urbanization on regional climate, ecosystem processes and global environment. This study constructed a hierarchical classification system for artificial surfaces, promoted a remote sensing method to retrieve subpixel components of artificial surfaces from 30-m resolution satellite imageries(Globe Land30) and developed a series of data products of high-precision urban built-up areas including impervious surface and vegetation cover in Asia in 2010. Our assessment, based on multisource data and expert knowledge, showed that the overall accuracy of classification was 90.79%. The mean relative error for the impervious surface components of cities was 0.87. The local error of the extracted information was closely related to the heterogeneity of urban buildings and vegetation in different climate zones. According to our results, the urban built-up area was 18.18×104 km2, accounting for 0.59% of the total land surface areas in Asia; urban impervious surfaces were 11.65×104 km2, accounting for 64.09% of the total urban built-up area in Asia. Vegetation and bare soils accounted for 34.56% of the urban built-up areas. There were three gradients: a concentrated distribution, a scattered distribution and an indeterminate distribution from east to west in terms of spatial pattern of urban impervious surfaces. China, India and Japan ranked as the top three countries with the largest impervious surface areas, which respectively accounted for 32.77%, 16.10% and 11.93% of the urban impervious surface area of Asia. We found the proportions of impervious surface and vegetation cover within urban built-up areas were closely related to the economic development degree of the country and regional climate environment. Built-up areas in developed countries had relatively low impervious surface and high public green vegetation cover, with 50–60% urban impervious surfaces in Japan, South Korea and Singapore. In comparison, the proportion of urban impervious surfaces in developing countries is approaching or exceeding 80% in Asia. | 8 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 10 | Kinetics of iron removal from metallurgical grade silicon with pressure leaching显示文摘In this paper, the kinetics of pressure leaching for purification of metallurgical grade silicon with hydrochloric acid was investigated. The effects of particle size, temperature, total pressure, and concentration of hydrochloric acid on the kinetics and mechanism of iron removal were studied. It was found that the reaction kinetic model followed the shrinking core model, and the apparent activation energy of the leaching reaction was 46.908 kJ/mol. And the apparent reaction order of iron removal with pressure leaching was 0.899. | 13 | Real-world study of surgical treatment of pancreatic cancer in China: annual report of China Pancreas Data Center (2016-2020)显示文摘Objective: In 2015, the Chinese Pancreatic Association of the Chinese Society of Surgery of the Chinese Medical Association launched a national multicenter online system for registration of surgical treatment of pancreatic cancer in China, called China Pancreas Data Center (CPDC). With continued effort, the CPDC has developed over time. Herein, we report the general results of the CPDC from January 2016 to January 2020 to present the real-world situation of surgical treatment of pancreatic cancer in China.Methods: The data of the CPDC from January 2016 to January 2020 were retrieved and analyzed in this real-world study, including the data on patient demographics, comorbidities, diagnostic modalities, neoadjuvant treatment, surgical procedures, postoperative complications and treatment, pathological examinations, postoperative adjuvant treatment, survival, and risk factors.Results: A total of 13,595 cases from 70 centers in 28 provinces were retrieved for analysis. This study reported the largest cohort of patients who underwent surgical treatment for pancreatic cancer in China to date. More cases were derived from the Eastern regions, among which Shanghai, Beijing, and Zhejiang ranked in the top three. The peak age of the patients ranged from 60 to 69 years. The ratio of males to females was 1.5:1. Overall, 64.3% of the tumors were located in the head and neck of the pancreas, and 35.7% in the body and tail of the pancreas. Of the patients, 23.0% underwent positron-emission tomography-computed tomography, 21.6% underwent endoscopic ultrasound, and 4.8% underwent preoperative biopsy. Two percent of the patients underwent neoadjuvant treatment, while 68.9% underwent R0 surgical resection (margin free of tumor cells). Of the latter, 78.6% of the operations were open procedures, 12.6% were laparoscopic procedures, 2.9% were robotic procedures, and 3.7% were converted to open procedures. The in-hospital mortality rate after surgery was 0.4%. The incidence of grade 2 and grade 3 postoperative pancreatic fistulas was 25.5% and 2.5%, respectively. The incidence of complications based on the Clavien-Dindo classification was 17.9% of grade II, 4.3% of grade IIIa, 1% of grade IIIb, and 0.6% of grade IV. Of the patients, 28.9% underwent postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. The 1-year, 2-year, and 3-year overall survival of these patients were 77%, 51%, and 38%, respectively. In the 8542 patients who underwent R0 resection, the 1-year, 2-year, and 3-year overall survival and disease-free survival were 77% , 54%, and 43%, and 68%, 49%, and 41%, respectively. The factors related to the prognosis of these patients were also identified after uni-and multi-variate analyses.Conclusion: The surgical quality, safety, and long-term survival of the patients in CPDC are similar to those of international high-volume pancreatic centers. | 14 | Synthesis,upconversion luminescence and optical heating of hexagonal NaGdF_4:Yb^(3+),Er^(3+)显示文摘An optical heater based on hexagonal NaGdF_4:Yb^(3+)/Er^(3+) is reported. XRD, SEM and EDS characterization results show that F^-/Ln^(3+) can not only control the phase composition, particle size and morphology, but also affect the effective doping concentration of Yb^(3+) and Er^(3+).When F^-/Ln^(3+) is 12/1, the strongest upconversion luminescence is obtained. Based on the luminescent temperature sensing behavior of Er^(3+),the photo-thermal conversion performance was investigated. The results indicate that the temperature of irradiation spot is linearly dependent on the power density, and the photo-thermal responsivity is determined to be 3.3K·cm^2/W. Also, it is found that the photo-thermal conversion efficiency can be regulated by changing the Yb^(3+) doping concentration. | 15 | Immune signature profiling identified prognostic factors for gastric cancer显示文摘Objective: Tumor microenvironment, especially the host immune system, plays a pivotal role in tumor initiation and progression. Profiling of immune signature within tumor might uncover biomarkers for targeted therapies and clinical outcomes. However, systematic analysis of immune-related genes in gastric cancer(GC) has not been reported.Methods: Expressions of a total of 718 immune-related genes were generated in 372 stomach adenocarcinoma(STAD) patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) database using RNA-sequencing data. Integrated bioinformatics analyses were performed to identify prognostic factors as well.Results: Survival analyses revealed 73 genes, which were significantly associated with patient’s overall survival(OS). Taken together with clinicopathological parameters, we established a predictive model, containing 10 immune-related genes, which were NRP1, C6, CXCR4, LBP, PNMA1, TLR5, ITGA6, MICB, PBK and TNFRSF18,with powerful efficiency in distinguishing satisfactory or poor survival of STAD patients. | 16 | Development and effectiveness of pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 system as determined by neutralizing efficiency and entry inhibition test in vitro显示文摘With the development of the COVID-19 epidemic,there is an urgent need to establish a system for determining the effectiveness and neutralizing activity of vaccine candidates in biosafety level 2(BSL-2)facilities.Previously,researchers had developed a pseudotyped virus systemfor SARS-CoV andMERS-CoV,based onHIV-1 core,bearing virus spike protein.During the development of a pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 system,a eukaryotic expression plasmid expressing SARSCoV-2 spike(S)protein was constructed and then co-transfectedwith HIV-1 based plasmid which containing the firefly luciferase reporter gene,into HEK293T cells to prepare the pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 virus(ppSARS-2).We have successfully established the pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 system for neutralization and entry inhibition assays.Huh7.5 cell line was found to be the most susceptible to our pseudotyped virus model.Different levels of neutralizing antibodies were detected in convalescent serum samples of COVID-19 patients using ppSARS-2.The recombinant,soluble,angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 protein was found to inhibit the entry of ppSARS-2 in Huh7.5 cells effectively.Furthermore,the neutralization results for ppSARS-2 were consistent with those of live SARS-CoV-2 and determined using the serum samples fromconvalescent patients.In conclusion,we have developed an easily accessible and reliable tool for studying the neutralizing efficiency of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 and the entry process of the virus in a BSL-2 laboratory. | Ren Yang Baoying Huang Ruhan A Wenhui Li Wenling Wang Yao Deng Wenjie Tan | 2020 | Biosafety and Health2020,2,4: | 5 |
| 17 | Construction,Characterization,and Chromosomal Mapping of a Fosmid Library of the White-Cheeked Gibbon (Nomascus leucogenys)显示文摘Gibbons have experienced extensive karyotype rearrangements during evolution and represent an ideal model for studying the underlying molecular mechanism of evolutionary chromosomal rearrangements. It is anticipated that the cloning and sequence characterization of evolutionary chromosomal breakpoints will provide vital insights into the molecular force that has driven such a radical karyotype reshuffle in gibbons. We constructed and characterized a high-quality fosmid li-brary of the white-cheeked gibbon (Nomascus leucogenys) containing 192,000 non-redundant clones with an average insert size of 38 kb and 2.5-fold genome coverage. By end sequencing of 100 randomly selected fosmid clones,we generated 196 se-quence tags for the library. These end-sequenced fosmid clones were then mapped onto the chromosomes of the white-cheeked gibbon by fluorescence in situ hy-bridization,and no spurious chimeric clone was detected. BLAST search against the human genome showed a good correlation between the number of hit clones and the number of chromosomes,an indication of unbiased chromosomal distribu-tion of the fosmid library. The chromosomal distribution of the mapped clones is also consistent with the BLAST search result against human and white-cheeked gibbon genomes. | 20 | Towards intelligent design optimization: Progress and challenge of design optimization theories and technologies for plastic forming显示文摘Plastic forming is one of enabling and fundamental technologies in advanced manufacturing chains. Design optimization is a critical way to improve the performance of the forming system, exploit the advantages of high productivity, high product quality, low production cost and short time to market and develop precise, accurate, green, and intelligent(smart) plastic forming technology. However, plastic forming is quite complicated, relating to multi-physics field coupling,multi-factor influence, multi-defect constraint, and triple nonlinear, etc., and the design optimization for plastic forming involves multi-objective, multi-parameter, multi-constraint, nonlinear,high-dimensionality, non-continuity, time-varying, and uncertainty, etc. Therefore, how to achieve accurate and efficient design optimization of products, equipment, tools/dies, and processing as well as materials characterization has always been the research frontier and focus in the field of engineering and manufacturing. In recent years, with the rapid development of computing science, data science and internet of things(Io T), the theories and technologies of design optimization have attracted more and more attention, and developed rapidly in forming process. Accordingly, this paper first introduced the framework of design optimization for plastic forming. Then, focusing on the key problems of design optimization, such as numerical model and optimization algorithm,this paper summarized the research progress on the development and application of the theories and technologies about design optimization in forming process, including deterministic and uncertain optimization. Moreover, the applicability of various modeling methods and optimization algorithms was elaborated in solving the design optimization problems of plastic forming.
