| 1 | Olive leaf extract inhibits lead poisoning-induced brain injury显示文摘Olive leaves have an antioxidant capacity,and olive leaf extract can protect the blood,spleen and hippocampus in lead-poisoned mice.However,little is known about the effects of olive leaf extract on lead-induced brain injury.This study was designed to determine whether olive leaf extract can inhibit lead-induced brain injury,and whether this effect is associated with antioxidant capacity.First,we established a mouse model of lead poisoning by continuous intragastric administration of lead acetate for 30 days.Two hours after successful model establishment,lead-poisoned mice were given olive leaf extract at doses of 250,500 or 1000 mg/kg daily by intragastric administration for 50 days.Under the transmission electron microscope,olive leaf extract attenuated neuronal and capillary injury and reduced damage to organelles and the matrix around the capillaries in the frontal lobe of the cerebral cortex in the lead-poisoned mice.Olive leaf extract at a dose of 1000 mg/kg had the greatest protective effect.Spectrophotometry showed that olive leaf extract significantly increased the activities of superoxide dismutase,catalase,alkaline phosphatase and acid phosphatase,while it reduced malondialdehyde content,in a dose-dependent manner.Furthermore,immunohistochemical staining revealed that olive leaf extract dose-dependently decreased Bax protein expression in the cerebral cortex of lead-poisoned mice.Our findings indicate that olive leaf extract can inhibit lead-induced brain injury by increasing antioxidant capacity and reducing apoptosis. | Yu Wang Shengqing Wang Wenhui Cui Jiujun He Zhenfu Wang Xiaolu Yang | 2013 | Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,22: | 21 |
| 2 | Isolation and Characterization of Bacillus Amyloliquefaciens L-1 for Biocontrol of Pear Ring Rot显示文摘Considering the heavy losses caused by pear ring rot(Botryosphaeria berengeriana) disease, the potential biocontrol agent against B. berengeriana was isolated and characterized in this work. Bacteria, isolated from pear orchard rhizosphere soil, were screened for the biological control of pear ring rot caused by B. berengeriana. Among them, strain L-1 showed noticeable inhibitory activities against B. berengeriana and six other commonly occurring postharvest pathogens. Molecular methods indicated strain L-1 was Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. The potential of strain L-1 as an effective biocontrol agent was further estimated. Results showed strain L-1 could successfully colonize in pear wounds, its colonies reached 142.35 folds on 4 days post inoculation, and maintained at a high level during storage. In addition, strain L-1 caused abnormal hyphae growth of B. berengeriana,and its inhibitory percentage against pear ring rot reached 76.55% in vivo on 11 days post inoculation. Strain L-1 significantly induced the peroxidase(POD) and catalase(CAT) activities and delayed the accumulation of malondialdehyde(MDA) in pears. What's more, strain L-1 did not impair the fruit quality. | 3 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 4 | Modeling the radiation balance of different urban underlying surfaces显示文摘An urban net all-wave radiation parameterization scheme is evaluated using annual datasets for 2010 recorded at a Beijing urban observation site.The statistical relationship between observed data and simulation data of net radiation has a correlation coefficient of 0.98 and model efficiency of 0.93.Therefore,it can be used to simulate the radiation balance of Beijing.This study analyzes the variation in the radiation balance for different underlying surfaces.To simulate radiation balance differences,we set four pure land-cover types(forest,grass,roads,and buildings).Keeping all other conditions inputted unchanged,we model the radiation balance by changing the land-cover type.The results show that the effects of different underlying surfaces on radiation differ,and that there is much upward long-wave radiation,accounting for 84.3% of the total radiation energy falling incident on the land surface.The annual averages of net radiation for the four land-cover types are in the range of 38.2-53.4 W/m2.The net radiation of the grass surface is minimal while that of the roads surface is maximal.Additionally,with urbanization the net radiation values of common types of land-cover change,such as conversion from forest to roads,grass to roads,and grass to buildings,all have increasing trends,indicating that net radiation usually increases with urban sprawl. | CUI YaoPing LIU JiYuan HU YunFeng WANG JunBang KUANG WenHui | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,9: | 9 |
| 5 | Modified Pressure Loss Model for T-junctions of Engine Exhaust Manifold显示文摘The T-junction model of engine exhaust manifolds significantly influences the simulation precision of the pressure wave and mass flow rate in the intake and exhaust manifolds of diesel engines. Current studies have focused on constant pressure models, constant static pressure models and pressure loss models. However, low model precision is a common disadvantage when simulating engine exhaust manifolds, particularly for turbocharged systems. To study the performance of junction flow, a cold wind tunnel experiment with high velocities at the junction of a diesel exhaust manifold is performed, and the variation in the pressure loss in the T-junction under different flow conditions is obtained. Despite the trend of the calculated total pressure loss coefficient, which is obtained by using the original pressure loss model and is the same as that obtained from the experimental results, large differences exist between the calculated and experimental values. Furthermore, the deviation becomes larger as the flow velocity increases. By improving the Vazsonyi formula considering the flow velocity and introducing the distribution function, a modified pressure loss model is established, which is suitable for a higher velocity range. Then, the new model is adopted to solve one-dimensional, unsteady flow in a D6114 turbocharged diesel engine. The calculated values are compared with the measured data, and the result shows that the simulation accuracy of the pressure wave before the turbine is improved by 4.3% with the modified pressure loss model because gas compressibility is considered when the flow velocities are high. | 6 | Surface defect ordered Cu_(2)ZnSn(S,Se)_(4) solar cells with efficiency over 12% via manipulating local substitution显示文摘The environmentally friendly Cu_(2)ZnSn(S,Se)_(4)(CZTSSe) compounds are promising direct bandgap materials for application in thin film solar cells, but the spontaneous surface defects disordering would lead to large open-circuit voltage deficit(V_(oc,deficit)) and significantly limit kesterite photovoltaics performance,primarily arising from the generated more recombination centers and insufficient p to n conversion at p-n junction. Herein, we establish a surface defects ordering structure in CZTSSe system via local substitution of Cu by Ag to suppress disordered Cu_(Zn) defects and generate benign n-type Zn_(Ag) donors. Taking advantage of the decreased annealing temperature of Ag F post deposition treatment(PDT), the high concentration of Ag incorporated into surface absorber facilitates the formation of surface ordered defect environment similar to that of efficient CIGS PV. The manipulation of highly doped surface structure could effectively reduce recombination centers, increase depletion region width and enlarge the band bending near p-n junction. As a result, the Ag F-PDT device finally achieves maximum efficiency of 12.34% with enhanced V_(oc) of 0.496 V. | 7 | Interferon as a Mucosal Adjuvant for an Influenza Vaccine in Pigs显示文摘Interferon,a natural protein that is produced by a variety of cells during viral infection,activates the transcription of multiple functional genes in cells,regulates synergy among various signaling pathways,and mediates many biological functions such as antiviral activity,immune regulation,and cell growth.However,clinical research on interferon in livestock is lacking.In this study,recombinant porcine interferon(PoIFNα)was used as an adjuvant,in combination with inactivated influenza virus,to vaccinate 6-week-old pigs via nasal infusion.The transcription of target genes was then monitored and the functions of PoIFNαwere determined with respect to the activation of mucosal immunity.We found that a combination of low-dose PoIFNαand in activated influenza virus could significantly up-regulate the expression of immunoregulatory cytokines such as IL-2,IL-1β,IFN-γ,IL-6,and IL-10 by real-time PCR,suggesting the induction of a strong mucosal innate immune response after administration.In addition,low-dose PoIFNαcan significant enhancing the transcription of genes encoding homing factors including CCR9 and CCR10(P<0.001),thereby resulting in the induction of higher levels of HA-specific antibodies(P<0.05),which can be determined by ELISA and IFA.Post-immunization challenges with H1N1 virus demonstrated that PoIFNot,combined with inactivated influenza virus,could alleviate clinical signs in pigs during the early stages of viral infection.These studies reveal low-dose PoIFNαas a potential mucosal adjuvant for influenza virus in pigs. | Lirong Liu Wenhui Fan He Zhang Shuang Zhang Liang Cui Meng Wang Xiaoyuan Bai Wenxian Yang Lei Sun Limin Yang Wenjun Liu Jing Li | 2019 | Virologica Sinica2019,34,3: | 3 |
| 8 | CypA Regulates AIP4-Mediated M1 Ubiquitination of Influenza A Virus显示文摘Cyclophilin A (CypA) is a peptidyl-prolyl cis/trans isomerase that interacts with the matrix protein (M1) of influenza A virus (IAV) and restricts virus replication by regulating the ubiquitin–proteasome-mediated degradation of M1. However,the mechanism by which CypA regulates M1 ubiquitination remains unknown. In this study, we reported that E3 ubiquitin ligase AIP4 promoted K48-linked ubiquitination of M1 at K102 and K104, and accelerated ubiquitin–proteasome-mediated degradation of M1. The recombinant IAV with mutant M1 (K102 R/K104 R) could not be rescued, suggesting that the ubiquitination of M1 at K102/K104 was essential for IAV replication. Furthermore, CypA inhibited AIP4-mediated M1 ubiquitination by impairing the interaction between AIP4 and M1. | 10 | Ultrasound-guided percutaneous microwave ablationfor small liver cancers adjacent to large vessels:long-term outcomes and strategies显示文摘Objective The aim of the study was to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of percutaneous microwave ablation(MWA) for small hepatic cancers adjacent to large vessels and to investigate the treatment strategies.Methods From March 2009 to July 2015,a total of 86 patients with 94 tumors underwent ultrasound(US)-guided percutaneous MWA,with pathologically proven or clinically diagnosed liver cancers measuring ≤ 3 cm in diameter and located ≤ 10 mm from a major vessel(n = 94).Regular follow-up after MWA was performed to assess treatment efficacy and perioperative complications.Results The complete ablation rate at 1 month after MWA was 93.3%(84/90).The 6-,9-,12-,24-,36-,48-,60-,72-,and 84-month local recurrence rates were 2.4%,2.4%,3.7%,6.6%,8.4%,8.4%,8.4%,8.4%,and 8.4%,respectively.There were no major complications.The perioperative special complication rate was 5.32%(5/94),including 3 cases of moderate liver function damage and 2 cases of limited sub-capsular hematoma.Conclusion Percutaneous MWA for small hepatic cancers adjacent to large vessels is feasible,effective,and safe with an acceptable rate of complications.The key point is to strictly follow operative indications and adopt proper treatment strategies. | Ruobing Liu Kaiyan Li Hongchang Luo Wei Zhang Tingting Zhang Meng Gao Wenhui Zha Xinwu Cui Youbin Deng | 2017 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2017,3,2: | 3 |

| 12 | Environmental Sustainability of Water Footprint in China' Mainland显示文摘Water footprint(WF)measures human appropriation of water resources for consumptive use of surface and ground water(blue WF)and soil water(green WF)and for assimilating polluted water(grey WF).Questions have been often asked about the exact meaning behind the numbers from WF accounting.However,to date environmental sustainability of WF has never been assessed at the sub-national level over time.This study evaluated the environmental sustainability of blue,green and grey WF for China’s 31 mainland provinces in 2002,2007 and 2012,and identified the unsustainable hotspots.Overall,the total WF increased by 30%between 2002 and 2012.The growth can be attributed to the increase of grey WF because the green and blue WF showed only a slight rise.Among all provinces investigated in 2012,eleven showed unsustainable blue WF(sustainability index SI<0),which were mainly located in the North China Plain.There were 12 provinces that displayed unsustainable green WF,and they were distributed in China’s southern and southeastern areas.The grey WF was not sustainable in approximately two third of provinces(19),which were mainly located in China’s middle and northern regions and Guangdong province.More than half of China’s provinces showed trends of improved SI of green and blue WF from 2002 to 2012.However,the SI of grey WF decreased in almost two third of provinces.Poor levels of WF sustainability were due to water scarcity and pollution,which intensify the degradation of local rivers and ecosystems and make restoration more difficult.The results shed light on the policy making needed to improve sustainable water management,and ecological restoration of hotspot regions. | Junguo Liu Dandan Zhao Ganquan Mao Wenhui Cui He Chena Hong Yang | 2020 | Geography and Sustainability2020,1,1: | 1 |
| 13 | Involvement of insulin in early development of mouse one-cell stage embryos显示文摘Recent studies have suggested that growth factors and hormones play important roles in cell prolif-eration and differentiation during early embryonic development. In the present study, we examined the expression and localization of insulin in the mouse oocytes and one-cell stage embryos by quantitative ELISA, RT-PCR, Western blot and immunofluorescence. In the mouse oocytes and one-cell stage em-bryos, expression of insulin was uniformly distributed in the cytoplasm. We also examined the expres-sion, activity and localization of mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) and p70S6K. The expression of mTOR and p70S6K was not significantly different at the cell cycle of mouse one-cell stage embryos. mTOR and S6K were distributed evenly in the cytoplasm at G1, G2 and M phase phase, but at S phase, the distribution of mTOR and S6K was around the pronucleus. At different phases, the activity of mTOR fluctuated. We also used the PI3K specific inhibitor-Wortmannin to investigate the cleavage rate of eggs. The result showed that the rate obviously decreased. When the mTOR specific inhibitor Rapa-mycin was used, the first mitotic division of the mouse one-cell stage embryo was delayed. | 15 | Nucleoprotein phosphorylation site(Y385)mutation confers temperature sensitivity to influenza A virus due to impaired nucleoprotein oligomerization at a lower temperature显示文摘Mutations in viral proteins can lead to the cold adaption of influenza A virus and the cold-adapted virus is an important vaccination instrument.Here,we identify a novel strain of influenza A virus with cold sensitivity conferred by a mutation at a phosphorylation site within the nucleoprotein(NP).The highly conserved tyrosine 385 residue(Y385)of NP was identified as a phosphorylation site by mass spectrometry.The constructive NP phosphorylation mimicked by Y385 E mutation was fatal for virus replication,while the continuous Y385 dephosphorylation mimicked by Y385 F mutation had little impact on virus replication in vitro.Notably,the Y385 F virus showed much lower replicative capacity in turbinates of mice compared with the wild type virus.Moreover,the replication of Y385 F virus was significantly reduced in both A549 and MDCK cells grown at 33℃,when compared to that at 37℃.These results indicated that the Y385 F mutation led to cold sensitivity of virus.We further found that the cold sensitivity of Y385 F virus could be attributed to diminished NP oligomerization rather than any changes in intracellular localization.Taken together,these findings suggest that the phosphorylation of NP may be a critical factor that regulates the temperature sensitivity of influenza A virus. | Weinan Zheng Liang Cui Minghui Li Yun Li Wenhui Fan Limin Yang Jing Li Lei Sun Wenjun Liu | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,4: | 0 |
| 16 | Gradient-structure-enhanced dielectric energy storage performance of flexible nanocomposites containing controlled preparation of defective TiO_(2) and ferroelectric KNbO_(3) nanosheets显示文摘Next generation power system needs dielectrics with increased dielectric energy density.However,the low energy density of dielectrics limits their development.Here,an asymmetric trilayered nanocomposite,with a transition layer(TL),an insulation layer(IL),and a polarization layer(PL),is designed based on poly(vinylidene fluoride)-polymethyl methacrylate(PVDF-PMMA)matrix using KNbO_(3)(KN)and TiO_(2)(TO)as the nanofillers.The morphology and defect control of the two-dimensional nano KN and nano TO fillers are realized via a hydrothermal method to increase the composite breakdown strength(E_(b))and the composite energy density(U_(e)).The asymmetric trilayered structure leads to a gradient electric field distribution,and the KN and TO nanosheets block charges transfer along z direction.As a result,the development path of the electrical trees is greatly curved,and E_(b) is effectively improved.And the Ue value of the nanocomposites reaches 17.79 J·cm^(-3) at 523 MV·m^(-1).On the basis,the composite Ue is further improved by defect control in TO nanosheets.The nanocomposite KN/TO/PVDF-PMMA containing TO with less oxygen vacancy concentration(calcined at oxygen atmosphere)acquires a high Ue of 21.61 J·cm^(-3) at 548 MV·m^(-1).This study provides an idea for improving the energy storage performance by combining the design of the composite dielectric structure and the control of nanofillers’defect and morphology. | Yan Wang Lili Zhao Ruicong Chen Wenhui Zhao Dengwei Hu Haoran Wang Bin Cui | 2024 | Nano Research2024,17,5: | 0 |
| 17 | Bias Analysis and Correction of Ground Surface Temperature Observations across China显示文摘Based on the ground surface temperature(GST)and snow surface temperature(SST)measurements during the period of adjustment from manual to automatic observation systems in China,the influence of observation methods on GST and its relationship with snow cover is analyzed.GST is corrected by SST,and the correction effect is evaluated.The results show that,during the parallel observation period,the winter GSTs from automatic observations are generally higher than those from manual observations,with the automatically observed national daily GST 1.18°C higher.The adjustment has a greater impact on GSTs at 0200,0800,and 2000 Beijing Time(BT)than at 1400 BT,and it has the greatest impact in Northeast and Northwest China,with deviations of 5.24 and 2.09°C,respectively.The GST deviation is closely related to the snow depth and annual snow totals.The average daily GST deviation increases at the rate of 0.66°C per 1-cm increase of snow depth when it is<15 cm,while it tends to be stable at around 10°C for snow depth over 15 cm.The GST deviation at a station is affected by its winter snow totals in Northeast and Northwest China,where the largest deviations are found where snow totals are all above 1000 cm.After the correction with SST,the mean deviation between the automatic and manual observations as well as the false trend can be effectively reduced.Following the correction,the mean deviation of daily GST decreases by 5.8°C,and its trend decreases from 1.87 to 0.65°C decade-1. | Yan CUI Wenhui XU Zijiang ZHOU Chunyu ZHAO Yihui DING Xue AO Xiaoyu ZHOU | 2020 | Journal of Meteorological Research2020,34,6: | 0 |
| 18 | Mid-infrared plasmonic silicon quantum dot/HgCdTe photodetector with ultrahigh specific detectivity显示文摘Highly sensitive photodetectors operating at mid-infrared(MIR)wavelengths are urgently required for the applications of astronomy,optical communication,security monitoring,and so forth.However,further promoting the sensitivity in conventional MIR devices for a higher detectivity is challenging.Among the potential strategies,integrating localized surface plasmon resonance with MIR semiconductors is a promising approach to developing high-performance optoelectronics.Here we demonstrate a high-sensitivity boron(B)-doped silicon quantum dot(Si-QD)/HgCdTe(MCT)MIR photodetector.Because of plasmon-induced hot-hole tunneling and enhanced light absorption,the hybrid photodetector exhibits a high specific detectivity of~1.6×10^(9)cm·Hz^(1/2)·W-1(Jones)and a high-speed response(~224 ns for the rise time and~580 ns for the fall time)at room temperature.Furthermore,the device achieves high-performance spectral blackbody detection with a peak detectivity of up to 1.6×10^(11)Jones at~5.8μm under a cryogenic environment of 77 K,higher than that of bare MCT.This prominent enhancement can be attributed to the further suppression of hot-hole cooling due to a reduced phonon population at low temperatures,which facilitates more efficient hot-carrier extraction and contributes to ultrahigh sensitivity.The plasmonic material-integrated MCT architecture can pave the way for developing high-performance MIR photodetection. | Yueying CUI Zhouyu TONG Xinlei ZHANG Wenhui WANG Weiwei ZHAO Yuanfang YU Xiaodong PI Jialin ZHANG Zhenhua NI | 2023 | Science China(Information Sciences)2023,66,4: | 0 |
