142,573 cases of hepatectomy in China: a multicenter retrospective investigation显示文摘Hepatectomy is currently routinely performed in most hospitals in China. China owns the largest population of liver diseases and the biggest number of liver resection cases. A nationwide multicenter retrospective investigation involving 112 hospitals was performed, and focused on liver resection for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). 42,573 cases of hepatectomy were enrolled, and 18,275 valid cases of liver resection for HCC patients were selected for statistical analysis. The epidemiology of HCC, distribution of hepatectomy, postoperative complications and prognosis were finally analyzed. In the 18,275 HCC patients,81% had hepatitis B virus infection and 10% had hepatitis C virus infection. 38% of the HCC patients had normal Alphafetoprotein(AFP) level, and other 35% had an AFP level lower than 400 ng mL^(-1). In the study period, 97% of the hepatectomy for HCC were treated with open surgery, and 23.81% had vascular exclusion techniques. The operation time was(191.7±105.6) min,the blood loss was(546.0±562.8) m L, and blood transfusion was(543.0±1,035.2) m L. The median survival for HCC patients was 631 days, with 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival of 73.2%, 28.8% and 19.6%, respectively. 3Clinical effects of innovative tuina manipulations on treating cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type and changes in cerebral blood flow显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To determine the clinical effect,treatment times,and rheoencephalogram changes in vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis patients treated with innovative Tuina manipulations.METHODS:One hundred and twenty six cervical spondylosis patients(vertebral artery type) were randomly divided into test and control groups.Patients in the test group were treated with innovative Tuina manipulations,while those in the control group were treated with the routine Tuina manipulations according to the textbook of Chinese Massage for Acupuncture and Moxibustion majors.The clinical effects,treatment times,clinical symptoms,and cerebral blood flow were measured.RESULTS:The response to the treatment was 100% in the test group and 88.71% in the control group.Patients in the test group required(7 ± 4) treatments before recovery,while those in the control group required(15 ± 7) treatments before recovery(P<0.05).The clinical symptoms exhibited greater improvement in the test group compared to the control group(P<0.05).There were no differences in cerebral blood flow between the two groups.CONCLUSION:Both innovative Tuina manipulations and routine Tuina manipulations produced satisfactory therapeutic results in vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis patients.However,the innovative manipulation was more effective in improving the functional symptoms,although there were no changes in the cerebral blood flow.Quanmao Ding Mingru Yan Ji Zhou Lu Yang Jiang Guo Jun Wang Zhiyong Shi Yixi Wang Hongsheng Zhao 2012Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,3:24
4A structural view of the antibiotic degradation enzyme NDM-1 from a superbug显示文摘Gram-negative Enterobacteriaceae with resistance to carbapenem conferred by New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase 1(NDM-1)are a type of newly discovered antibioticresistant bacteria.The rapid pandemic spread of NDM-1 bacteria worldwide(spreading to India,Pakistan,Europe,America,and Chinese Taiwan)in less than 2 months characterizes these microbes as a potentially major global health problem.The drug resistance of NDM-1 bacteria is largely due to plasmids containing the blaNDM-1 gene shuttling through bacterial populations.The NDM-1 enzyme encoded by the blaNDM-1 gene hydrolyzes β-lactam antibiotics,allowing the bacteria to escape the action of antibiotics.Although the biological functions and structural features of NDM-1 have been proposed according to results from functional and structural investigation of its homologues,the precise molecular characteristics and mechanism of action of NDM-1 have not been clarified.Here,we report the threedimensional structure of NDM-1 with two catalytic zinc ions in its active site.Biological and mass spectroscopy results revealed that D-captopril can effectively inhibit the enzymatic activity of NDM-1 by binding to its active site with high binding affinity.The unique features concerning the primary sequence and structural conformation of the active site distinguish NDM-1 from other reported metallo-β-lactamases(MBLs)and implicate its role in wide spectrum drug resistance.We also discuss the molecular mechanism of NDM-1 action and its essential role in the pandemic of drug-resistant NDM-1 bacteria.Our results will provide helpful information for future drug discovery targeting drug resistance caused by NDM-1 and related metallo-β-lactamases.Yu Guo Jing Wang Guojun Niu Wenqing Shui Yuna Sun Honggang Zhou Yaozhou Zhang Cheng Yang Zhiyong Lou Zihe Rao 2011Protein & Cell2011,2,5:16
5Application of next-generation sequencing technology to precision medicine in cancer: joint consensus of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology显示文摘Next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology is capable of sequencing millions or billions of DNA molecules simultaneously.Therefore, it represents a promising tool for the analysis of molecular targets for the initial diagnosis of disease, monitoring of disease progression, and identifying the mechanism of drug resistance. On behalf of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology(CSCO) and the China Actionable Genome Consortium(CAGC), the present expert group hereby proposes advisory guidelines on clinical applications of NGS technology for the analysis of cancer driver genes for precision cancer therapy. This group comprises an assembly of laboratory cancer geneticists, clinical oncologists, bioinformaticians,pathologists, and other professionals. After multiple rounds of discussions and revisions, the expert group has reached a preliminary consensus on the need of NGS in clinical diagnosis, its regulation, and compliance standards in clinical sample collection. 6Production of Brown/Yellow Patches in the SLC7A11 Transgenic Sheep via Testicular Injection of Transgene显示文摘The gene,SLC7A11,which encodes the solute carrier family 7 member 11(anionic amino acid transporter light chain,xCT),has been reported to be implicated in multiple processes such as in pheomelanin production,cell proliferation and migration,Kaposi's sarcoma herpesvirus(KSHV) entry into the host cells,learning and memory.Its involvement in cancer cell proliferation and metastasis has been widely studied.Its role in pheomelanogenesis is likely conserved in sheep.The full-length cDNA of sheep SLC7A11 was cloned from sheep skin fibroblasts for evaluating its role in regulating sheep coat color.The complete open reading frame of sheep xCT(sxCT) is 1512 bp in length,encoding a 503 amino acid polypeptide.We explored its function on pheomelanogenesis in vitro and in vivo.In the melan-a non-agouti mouse melanocytes that mainly produce eumelanin,overexpressed sxCT reduced the content of eumelanin.Using a testicular injection transgenic method,sxCT-transgenic sheep were generated and exhibited patches of brown/yellow coat,suggesting that sxCT can be selectively expressed to increase the pheomelanin production in wool.Our studies suggest that testicular injection of transgene can be used to genetically modify sheep coat color.Xin He Hongtao Li Zhiyong Zhou Zongsheng Zhao Wei Li 2012Journal of Genetics and Genomics2012,39,6:13
7Fluxes of CO_2,CH_4 and N_2O from alpine grassland in the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Using stat ic chamber technique, fluxes of CO 2 , CH 4 and N 2 O were measured in the alpine grassland area from July 2000 to July 2001, d eterminations of mean fluxes showed that CO 2 and N 2 O were gene rally released from the soil, while the alpine grassland accounted for a weak CH 4 sink. Fluxes of CO 2 , CH 4 and N 2 O ranged widely. The highest CO 2 emission occurred in August, whereas a lmost 90% of the whole year emission occurred in the growing season. But the variations of CH 4 and N 2 O fluxes did not show any clear patterns over the one-year-experim ent. During a daily variation, the maximum CO 2 emission occurred at 16:00, and then decreased to the minimum emi ssion in the early morning. Daily pattern analyses indicated that the variation in CO 2 fluxes was positively related to air temperatures (R 2 =0.73) and soil temperatures at a depth of 5 cm (R 2 =0.86), whereas daily variations in CH 4 and N 2 O fluxes were poorly explained by soil temperatures and climatic va riables. 9Onset of Xiashu loess deposition in southern China by 0.9 Ma and its implications for regional aridification显示文摘The Xiashu loess is a typical Quaternary eolian deposit in southern China and represents an important terrestrial paleoclimate archive in this low-latitude monsoon region. However, the chronological framework of Xiashu loess deposition has yet to be established. Determining the timing of the onset of Xiashu loess deposition will allow researchers to better understand late Quaternary aridification across the Asian continent, the evolution of the East Asian monsoon and regional environmental changes in subtropical regions. Therefore, in this study, a systematic chronological study of the Xiashu loess is conducted to answer this question. For the first time, magnetostratigraphic classification reveals that the Matuyama/Brunhes(M/B) reversal is present in the Xiashu loess at two sites in Jiangsu Province, the Qingshan profile at Yizheng and the Dagang core in Zhenjiang.Based on the results of magnetostratigraphy and optically stimulated luminescence(OSL) dating, the age of the lower boundary of the Xiashu loess is estimated to be approximately 0.9 Ma. Consequently, this Xiashu loess deposit is the oldest reported to date and is comparable in age to the red soil deposit in Xuancheng, Anhui Province. The onset of Xiashu loess deposition by 0.9 Ma represents the further expansion of arid range in Asia in the late Quaternary in response to significant aridification and winter monsoon strengthening in this subtropical region. 11Climatology of tropical cyclone tornadoes in China from 2006 to 2018显示文摘We surveyed the occurrence of tropical cyclone(TC) tornadoes in China from 2006 to 2018. There were 64 cataloged TC tornadoes, with an average of five per year. About one-third of the landfalling TCs in China were tornadic. Consistent with previous studies, TC tornadoes preferentially formed in the afternoon shortly before and within about 36 h after landfall of the TCs. These tornadoes mainly occurred in coastal areas with relatively flat terrains. The maximum number of TC tornadoes occurred in Jiangsu and Guangdong provinces. Most of the TC tornadoes were spawned within 500 km of the TC center. Two notable characteristics were found:(1) TC tornadoes in China mainly occurred in the northeast quadrant(Earth-relative coordinates) rather than the right-front quadrant(TC motion-relative coordinates) of the parent TC circulation;and(2) most tornadoes were produced by TCs with a relatively weak intensity(tropical depressions/storms), in contrast with the United States where most tornadoes are associated with stronger TCs. Further analyses showed that TC tornadoes in China tend to be spawned in an environment with large low-level storm relative helicity and large convective available potential energy taking entrainment effects into account. TC tornadoes were particularly active in 2018, with 24 reported tornadoes accounting for 37.5% of the total surveyed samples. 12Dietary supplementation of Lonicera macranthoides leaf powder improves amino acid profiles in serum and longissimus thoracis muscle of growing-finishing pigs显示文摘A 60-days feeding trial was conducted to determine the effect of dietary supplementation of Lonicera macranthoides leaf(LML) on growth performance, meat quality, and free amino acid profiles in growingfinishing pigs. L. macranthoides leaves were harvested, air-dried and milled to powder. A total of 288 crossbred barrows(Large White x Landrace) with an average initial BW of 54.0 ± 3.4 kg were randomly allocated to 3 treatment groups and fed either a basal diet or a diet supplemented with 0.5% or 1.0% LML powder. Results showed that diet supplemented with LML powder did not affect average daily feed intake(ADFI) and feed: gain ratio(P> 0.05) in growing-finishing pigs. Moreover, diet supplemented with LML powder showed no significant effects on carcass traits(P > 0.05) including dressing percentage,backfat thickness and loin muscle area, and meat quality traits(P > 0.05) including meat color, intramuscular fat and cooking loss. However, diet supplemented with LML powder significantly improved free amino acid profiles in serum and longissimus thoracis muscle in growing-finishing pigs. Most importantly, dietary LML powder increased total free amino acids content(P < 0.001) and essential free amino acid content(P < 0.001) in longissimus thoracis muscle. 14Crescentic dune migration and stabilization: Implications for interpreting paleo-dune deposits as paleoenvironmental records显示文摘Paleo-dune deposits have been widely used as a proxy indicator of past dune activity, which is further used to reconstruct paleoclimates. However, recent studies have critically examined the reproducibility of dune chronologies and the complexity of paleo-dune deposits as paleoenvironmental records. This paper addresses questions on the paleoenvironmental implications of dune chronostratigraphies that have been raised by those reviews, in the specific case of crescentic dunes, using a case study from the Mu Us dune field, north-central China. The processes of turn-over and stabilization of relatively small crescentic dunes are first investigated by observational evidence. In combination with the analysis of a simplified sand preservation model and stratigraphic records, the effect of dune morphodynamics on sand preservation is demonstrated. It is especially evident that thick, nearly instantaneously deposited sand units record dune stabilization near the very end of a dune activity episode, while thin sand units may signal the preservation of sand deposited earlier in episodes of activity. Interpreting the distribution of luminescence ages that indicate sand deposition over time is not as simple as assumed in some previous work. Low frequency of sand ages could indicate an interval of either dune field stabilization or extensive dune activity but poor sand preservation. A peak of sand age frequency likely represents a shift in dune field activity towards stabilization, not a peak of active dune extent, especially if it partially overlaps with an independently identified interval of stabilization(e.g. one recorded by paleosols). The nature and magnitude of these biases in the distribution of sand ages over time are strongly affected by the magnitude of net sand accumulation, which is in turn related to sand supply, transport capacity and sand availability, and ultimately climate change. Relatively short dune stabilization and turn-over time(10~1 to 10~2 yrs) indicate that dune geomorphic processes can quickly respond to short-term disturbance, but the chronology of that response must be interpreted in light of how those processes influence age distributions.XU Zhiwei Joseph A. 17The effect of LPSO on the deformation mechanism of Mg-Gd-Y-Zn-Zr magnesium alloy显示文摘The tensile deformation behavior and corresponding microstructure evolution of the Mg-4.7Gd-3.4Y-1.2Zn-0.5Zr(at.%)magnesium alloy with long period stacking structure(LPSO)are studied by electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)and slip lines methods.The results show that less and very small size of twins is observed in the grains with high value of Schmid factor for twinning,which indicates that the growth of the{10–12}twinning deformation is prevented by the LPSO phase.The prismatic lines present in grains of which the prismatic slip Schmid factor is above 0.4.The favorable orientation and LPSO phase synergistically promote the activation of prismatic slip.The inhomogeneous rotation of the grains during deformation is the reason for the microcrack at grain boundary.Jianbo Shao Zhiyong Chen Tao Chen Zhang Hu Xiaojie Zhou Chuming Liu 2016Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2016,4,2:6
18Significantly enhanced piezoelectric performance in Bi_(4)Ti_(3)O_(12)-based high-temperature piezoceramics via oxygen vacancy defects tailoring显示文摘Bismuth titanate (Bi_(4)Ti_(3)O_(12),BIT)piezoelectric materials have attracted increasing attention due to their high-temperature applications.However,it is quite challenging to simultaneously achieve outstanding piezoelectric properties and high Curie temperature in BIT-based systems.In this study,oxygen vacancy defects tailoring strategy was utilized to solve this problem,excellent piezoelectric coefficient(32.1 pC/N),and ultrahigh Curie temperature(659℃)are gotten in Bi_(4)Ti_(3)-x(Mn_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))xO_(12)(BTMN)ceramics,which are among the top values in the BIT-based ceramics.More importantly,the(Mn_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))(4+d)+complex-ion modified Bi_(4)Ti_(3)O_(12)-based ceramics are characterized with excellent piezoelectric stability up to 500℃(d33>30.0 pC/N at 500℃))and significantly reduced conductivity(only~10^(-7)U-1 cm^(-1)at 500℃).Moreover,enhanced ferroelectricity and good dielectric stability were also obtained.The better comprehensive properties can be ascribed to two aspects.First,the concentration of oxygen vacancy defects is obviously reduced,and their distribution is effectively controlled in BITMN ceramics.Second,the introduction of(Mn_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))^((4+δ)+)complex-ion gives rise to the antiphase boundaries and massive ferroelectric domain walls.This works not only reveal the high potential of BITMN ceramics for high-temperature piezoelectric applications but also deepen the understanding of the structure-properties relationship in BIT-based materials.Xinchun Xie Zhiyong Zhou Ruihong Liang Xianlin Dong 2021Journal of Materiomics2021,7,1:6

20Application of two remote sensing GPP algorithms at a semiarid grassland site of North China显示文摘Estimation of gross primary production(GPP)from remote sensing data is an important approach to study regional or global carbon cycle.However,for a given algorithm,it usually has its limitation on applications to a wide range of vegetation types and/or under diverse environmental conditions.This study was conducted to compare the performance of two remote sensing GPP algorithms,the MODIS GPP and the vegetation photosynthesis model(VPM),in a semiarid temperate grassland ecosystem.Methods The study was conducted at a typical grassland site in Ujimuqin of Inner Mongolia,North China,over 2 years in 2006 and 2007.Environmental controls on GPP measured by the eddy covariance(EC)technique at the study site were first investigated with path analysis of meteorological and soil moisture data at a daily and 8-day time steps.The estimates of GPP derived from the MODIS GPP and the VPM with site-specific inputs were then compared with the values of EC measurements as ground truthing at the site.Site-specific emax(a)was estimated by using rectangular hyperbola function based on the 7-day flux data at 30-min intervals over the peak period of the growing season(May to September).Important Findings Between the two remote sensing GPP algorithms and various estimates of the fraction of absorbed photosynthetic active radiation(FPAR),the VPM based on FPAR derived from the enhanced vegetation index(EVI)works the best in predicting GPP against the ground truthing of EC GPP.A path analysis indicates that the EC GPP in this semiarid temperate grassland ecosystem is controlled predominantly by both soil water and temperature.The site water condition is slightly better simulated by the moisture multiplier in the VPM than in the MODIS GPP algorithm,which is a most probable explanation for a better performance of the VPM than MODIS GPP algorithm in this semiarid grassland ecosystem.Jianfeng Liu Osbert Jianxin Sun Hongmei Jin Zhiyong Zhou Xingguo Han 2011Journal of Plant Ecology2011,4,4:5
