| 2 | Polyphenolic Compound and the Degree of Browning in Processing Apple Varieties显示文摘Polyphenolic compound in processing apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) varieties and the relationship between polyphenol content and enzymatic browning were studied to provide reference for raw material selection and processing method optimization. The content of polyphenol compound in 10 processing apple varieties (4 cider and 6 juice varieties) were analyzed using the Folin-Ciocalteu method and HPLC. The degree of browning and the activities of polyphenol oxidase were also studied. The content and proportion of the polyphenol varied depending on the variety. Bitter varieties globally showed a higher polyphenol concentration than sweet or acid varieties. Proanthocyanidins, chlorogenic acid, (+)-catechin, (-)-epicatechin were high-concentrated polyphenols in apple fruits. Phloridzin, the unique polyphenol of apple, was abundant in the bitter variety Frequin rouge fruit. Total polyphenols, proanthocyanidins, (+)-catechin, and phloridzin had higher correlations with browning. The correlation was low between chlorogenic acid and browning. The polyphenolic profiles were correlated with the apple types. Cider apples contained more polyphenol than juice apple varieties. | 4 | Analysis of Genetic Diversity of Processing Apple Varieties显示文摘Genetic diversity of 18 processing apple varieties and two fresh varieties were evaluated using 12 simple sequence repeats (SSR) primer pairs previously identified in Malus domestica Borkh. A total of 87 alleles in 10 loci were detected using 10 polymorphic SSR markers selected within the range of 5-14 alleles per locus. All the 20 varieties could be distinguished using two primer pairs and they were divided into four groups using cluster analysis. The genetic similarity (GS) of groups analyzed using cluster analysis varied from 0.14 to 0.83. High acid variety Avrolles separated from other varieties with GS less than 0.42. The second group contained Longfeng and Dolgo from Northeast of China, the inherited genes of Chinese crab apple. The five cider varieties with high tannin contents, namely, Dabinette, Frequin rouge, Kermerrien, M.Menard, and D.Coetligne were clustered into the third group. The fourth group was mainly composed of 12 juice and fresh varieties. Principal coordinate analysis (PCO) also divided all the varieties into four groups. Juice and fresh apple varieties, Longfeng and Dolgo were clustered together, respectively, using both the analyses. Both the analyses showed there was much difference between cider and juice varieties, cider and fresh varieties, as well as Chinese crab apple and western European crab apple, whereas juice varieties and fresh varieties had a similar genetic background. | 6 | Sensitivity analysis of project level MOVES running emission rates for light and heavy duty vehicles显示文摘In order to understand how the uncertainties in the output can be apportioned to different sources of uncertainties in its inputs,it is critical to investigate the sensitivity of MOVES model.The MOVES model sensitivity for regional level has been well studied.However,the uncertainty analysis for project level running emissions has not been well understood.In this research,the MOVES model project level sensitivity tests on running emissions were conducted thru the analysis of vehicle specific power(VSP),scaled tractive power(STP),and MOVES emission rates versus speed curves.This study tested the speed,acceleration,and grade-three most critical variables for vehicle specific power for light duty vehicles and scaled tractive power for heavy duty vehicles.For the testing of STP,four regulatory classes of heavy duty vehicles including light heavy duty(LHD),medium heavy duty(MHD),heavy heavy duty(HHD)and bus were selected.MOVES project running emission rates were also tested for CO,PM2.5,NOx,and VOC versus the operating speeds.A Latin Hypercube(LH)sampling based on method for estimation of the'Sobal'sensitivity indices shows that the speed is the most critical variable among the three inputs for both VSP and STP.Acceleration and grades show lower response to the main effects and sensitivity indices.MOVES emission rates versus speeds curves for light duty vehicles show that highest emission occurs at lower speed range.No significant differences on emission rates among the regulatory classes of heavy duty vehicles are identified. | Zhuo Yao Heng Wei Harikishan Peragu Hao Liu Zhixia Li | 2014 | Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2014,1,2: | 8 |

| 9 | Degradation of p-nitrophenol(PNP) in aqueous solution by mFe/Cu-air-PS system显示文摘In this study,batch experiments were conducted to investigate the performance of microscale Fe/Cu bimetallic particles-air-persulfate system(mFe/Cu-air-PS)for p-nitrophenol(PNP)treatment in aqueous solution.First,the optimal operating parameters(i.e.,aeration rate of 1.0 L/min,theoretical Cu mass loading(TMLCu)of 0.110 g Cu/g Fe,mFe/Cu dosage of 15 g/L,PS total dosage of 15 mmol/L,feeding times of PS of 5,initial pH 5.4)were obtained successively by single-factor experiments.Under the optimal conditions,high COD and TOC removal efficiencies(71.0%,65.8%)were obtained after 60 min treatment.Afterword,compared with control experiments(i.e.,mFe/Cu,air,PS,mFe/Cu-air,mFe/Cu–PS,air-PS and mFe-air-PS),mFe/Cu-air-PS system exerted superior performance for pollutants removal due to the synergistic effect between mFe/Cu,air and PS.In addition,the results of control experiments and radical quenching experiments indicate this reinforcement by feeding of PS was greater than by aeration in m Fe/Cu-air-PS system.Furthermore,the degradation intermediates of PNP in mFe/Cu-air-PS process were identified and measured by HPLC.Based on the detected intermediates,the degradation pathways of PNP were proposed comprehensively,which revealed that toxic and refractory PNP in aqueous solution could be decomposed effectively and transformed into lower toxicity intermediates.As a result,m Fe/Cu-air-PS system with the performance of oxidation combined reduction can be also a potential technology for the treatment of toxic and refractory PNP contained wastewater. | Heng Zhang Qingqing Ji Leiduo Lai Gang Yao Bo Lai | 2019 | Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,5: | 7 |
| 10 | Total mercury in wild fish in Guizhou reservoirs, China显示文摘The health hazard of mercury (Hg) compounds is internationally recognized, and the main pathways for methylmercury (MeHg) intake in humans are through consumption of food, especially fish. Given the large releases of Hg to the environment in China, combined with the fast development of hydropower, this issue deserves attention. Provided similar mobilization pathways of Hg in China as seen in reservoirs in North America and Europe one should expect increased Hg contamination in relation to future hydropower reservoir construction in this country. This study presents total Hg (THg) concentrations in wild fish from six Guizhou reservoirs, China. The THg concentrations in fish were generally low despite high background levels in the bedrock and depositions from local point sources. The over all mean ± SD concentration of THg was (0.066 ± 0.078) μg/g (n = 235). After adjusting for among-reservoir variation in THg, there were significant differences in THg among functional groups of the fish, assumed to re?ect trophic levels. Predicted THg- concentration ratios, retrieved from a mixed linear model, between the functional groups were 9:4:4:1 for carnivorous, omnivorous, planktivorous and herbivorous fish. This result indicated that MeHg accumulation may prevail even under circumstances with short food chains as in this Chinese water system. No fish exceeded recommended maximum THg limit for human consumption set by World Health Organization and the Standardization Administration of China (0.5 μg/g fish wet weight (ww)). | 11 | Dark matter direct search sensitivity of the PandaX-4T experiment显示文摘The Panda X-4T experiment, a 4-ton scale dark matter direct detection experiment, is being planned at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory. In this paper we present a simulation study of the expected background in this experiment. In a 2.8-ton fiducial mass and the signal region between 1-10 keV electron equivalent energy, the total electron recoil background is found to be 4.9 × 10^(-5) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). The nuclear recoil background in the same region is 2.8 × 10^(-7) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). | 14 | Melatonin Treatment Enhances the Polyphenol Content and Antioxidant Capacity of Red Wine显示文摘Melatonin and polyphenols are strong antioxidants, and melatonin is also a potential plant growth regulator. The role of melatonin in regulating polyphenol metabolism is unclear. This study assessed the primary impacts of exogenous melatonin treatment on phenolics accumulation and antioxidant capacity of the 'Moldova' wine. It was found that two times of 100 μmol·L^(-1) melatonin treatment clearly enhanced the endogenous melatonin content of ripened berries and wine. Further experiments indicated that melatonin treatment significantly increased the contents of total phenols, flavonoids and anthocyanins in wine. Additionally, the contents of most of the 20 detected individual phenolic compounds were significantly enhanced by melatonin treatment in wine. Particularly, the content of two non-flavonoid phenolic compounds(syringic and coumaric acid) and four anthocyanin compounds [Mv-3-Glu, Mv-3-(6-Coum)Glu-5-Glu, Dp-3-(6-AC)Glu and Dp-3-(6-Coum)Glu-5-Glu]were largely increased by melatonin treatment. In contrast, only Pn-3-(6-Coum)Glu was significantly reduced. Moreover, melatonin treatment significantly enhanced the antioxidant capacity of wine indicated by DPPH and FRAP assays. | 17 | Effect of cross-section shape of rotating chute on particle movement and distribution at the throat of a bell-less top blast furnace显示文摘Rotating chutes are widely used to control the burden distribution and enhance the gas distribution in a blast furnace.The chute cross-section shape has a significant effect on the particle movement and distribution.Therefore,this study developed a three-dimensional model of a blast furnace top with rotating chute using the discrete element method.The effect of different chute shapes on the particle movement and radial burden distribution was then investigated.The results showed that the burden stream height at the chute discharge agrees well with the burden stream thickness at the burden surface.A semicircular chute had the largest main striking point,where the chute discharge joins the burden surface,and trapezoidal and rectangular chutes had successively smaller MSPs.The semicircular chute helped to obtain a uniform radial size distribution.The trapezoidal chute helped form an aggregated burden stream at low rotating speeds,while the rectangular shape chute achieved this at higher rotating speeds and different chute angles. | Mingyin Kou Jian Xu Shengli Wu Heng Zhou Kai Gu Shun Yao Bingjie Wen | 2019 | Particuology2019,17,3: | 3 |
| 18 | Recent progress in molten salt synthesis of low-dimensional perovskite oxide nanostructures, structural characterization,properties, and functional applications: A review显示文摘Molten salt synthesis(MSS) method has advantages of the simplicity in the process equipment, versatile and large-scale synthesis, and friendly environment, which provides an excellent approach to synthesize high pure oxide powders with controllable compositions and morphologies. Among these oxides, perovskite oxides with a composition of ABO3 exhibit a broad spectrum of physical properties and functions(e.g. ferroelectric, piezoelectric, magnetic, photovoltaic and photocatalytic properties). The downscaling of the spatial geometry of perovskite oxides into nanometers result in novel properties that are different from the bulk and film counterparts. Recent interest in nanoscience and nanotechnology has led to great efforts focusing on the synthesis of low-dimensional perovskite oxide nanostructures(PONs) to better understand their novel physical properties at nanoscale. Therefore, the low-dimensional PONs such as perovskite nanoparticles, nanowires, nanorods, nanotubes, nanofibers, nanobelts, and two dimensional oxide nanostructures, play an important role in developing the next generation of oxide electronics.In the past few years, much effort has been made on the synthesis of PONs by MSS method and their structural characterizations. The functional applications of PONs are also explored in the fields of storage memory, energy harvesting, and solar energy conversion. This review summarizes the recent progress in the synthesis of low-dimensional PONs by MSS method and its modified ways. Their structural characterization and physical properties are also scrutinized. The potential applications of low-dimensional PONs in different fields such as data memory and storage, energy harvesting, solar energy conversion,are highlighted. | 19 | Paleoseismologic record of earthquakes along the Wuzunxiaoer section of the Altyn Tagh fault and its implication for cascade rupture behavior显示文摘The Altyn Tagh fault is one of the few great active strike-slip faults in the world. The recurrence characteristics of paleoearthquakes on this fault are still poorly understood due to the lack of paleoseismic records recorded in high-resolution strata. We document a paleoseismic record in a pull-apart basin along the Wuzunxiaoer section of the central Altyn Tagh fault.The high-resolution strata recorded abundant seismic deformations and their sedimentary responses. Four earthquakes are identified based on event evidence in the form of open fissures, thickened strata, angular unconformities, and folds. The occurrence times of the four events were constrained using radiocarbon dating. Event W1 occurred at AD1220–1773, events W2 and W3 occurred between 407 and 215 BC, and event W4 occurred slightly earlier at 1608–1462 BC, indicating clustered recurrence characteristics. | 20 | Association of ABO blood groups with the severity of coronary artery disease: a cross-sectional study显示文摘Objective To investigate whether ABO blood groups is associated with the severity of coronary artery disease(CAD). Methods Between January 2015 and December 2017, 1425 first diagnosed CAD patients confirmed by selective coronary angiography were recruited into this cross-sectional study, and their baseline characteristics, ABO blood groups, Gensini score were collected. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to test the association between the severity of CAD and ABO blood groups. Results The Gensini score was significantly higher in the blood group A than in the non-A groups(41.2 ± 32 vs. 38 ± 27;P = 0.026). After adjusting for age, male, smoking, family history of CAD, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and hypercholesterolemia, multivariate linear regression indicated that blood group A was associated with the severity of CAD(β= 3.298, 95% CI: 0.91–6.505, P = 0.044). In diabetes group, A blood type was also associated with increased Gensini score(P = 0.02) after adjusting for age, male, family history of CAD, hypercholesterolemia, smoking and hypertension.
