3Preliminary results pertaining to coseismic displacement and preseismic strain accumulation of the Lushan M_S7.0 earthquake,as reflected by GPS surveying显示文摘This paper presents the coseismic displacement and preseismic deformation fields of the Lushan MS7.0 earthquake that occurred on April 20,2013.The results are based on GPS observations along the Longmenshan fault and within its vicinity.The coseismic displacement and preseismic GPS results indicate that in the strain release of this earthquake,the thrust rupture is dominant and the laevorotation movement is secondary.Furthermore,we infer that any possible the rupture does not reach the earth’s surface,and the seismogenic fault is most likely one fault to the east of the Guanxian-Anxian fault.Some detailed results are obtainable.(1)The southern segment of the Longmenshan fault is locked preceding the Lushan earthquake.After the Wenchuan earthquake,the strain accumulation rate in the southeast direction accelerates in the epicenter of the Lushan earthquake,and the angle between the principal compressional strain and the seismogenic fault indicates that a sinistral deformation background in the direction of the seismogenic fault precedes the Lushan earthquake.Therefore,it is evident that the Wenchuan MS8.0 earthquake accelerated the pregnancy of the Lushan earthquake.(2)The coseismic displacements reflected by GPS data are mainly located in a region that is 230 km(NW direction)×100 km(SW direction),and coseismic displacements larger than 10 mm lie predominantly in a100-km region(NW direction).(3)On a large scale,the coseismic displacement shows thrust characteristics,but the associated values are remarkably small in the near field(within 70 km)of the earthquake fault.Meanwhile,the thrust movement in this70-km region does not correspond with the attenuation characteristics of the strain release,indicating that the rupture of this earthquake does not reach the earth’s surface.(4)The laevorotation movements are remarkable in the 50-km region,which is located in the hanging wall that is close to the earthquake fault,and the corresponding values in this case correlate with the attenuation characteristics of the strain release.WU YanQiang JIANG ZaiSen WANG Min CHE Shi LIAO Hua LI Qiang LI Peng YANG YongLin XIANG HePing SHAO ZhiGang WANG WuXing WEI WenXin LIU XiaoXia 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,28:33
4The Chrysanthemum nankingense Genome Provides Insights into the Evolution and Diversification of Chrysanthemum Flowers and Medicinal Traits显示文摘The Asteraceae (Compositae),a large plant family of approximately 24 000-35 000 species,accounts for^10% of all angiosperm species and contributes a lot to plant diversity.The most representative members of the Asteraceae are the economically important chrysanthemums (Chrysanthemum L.)that diversified through reticulate evolution.Biodiversity is typically created by multiple evolutionary mechanisms such as wholegenome duplication 0NGD)or polyploidization and locally repetitive genome expansion.However,the lack of genomic data from chrysanthemum species has prevented an in-depth analysis of the evolutionary mechanisms involved in their diversification.Here,we used Oxford Nanopore long-read technologyto sequence the diploid Chrysanthemum nankingense genome,which represents one of the progenitor genomes of domesticated chrysanthemums.Our analysis revealed that the evolution of the C.nankingense genome was driven by bursts of repetitive element expansion and WGD events including a recentWGD that distinguishes chrysanthemum from sunflower,which diverged from chrysanthemum approximately 38.8 million years ago.Variations of ornamental and medicinal traits in chrysanthemums are linked to the expansion of candidate gene families by duplication events including paralogous gene duplication.Collectively,our study of the assembled reference genome offers new knowledge and resources to dissect the history and pattern of evolution and diversification of chrysanthemum plants,and also to accelerate their breeding and improvement.Chi Song Yifei Liu Aiping Song Gangqiang Dong Hongbo Zhao Wei Sun Shyam Ramakrishnan Ying Wang Shuaibin Wang Tingzhao Li Yan Niu Jiafu Jiang Bin Dong Ye Xia Sumei Chen Zhigang Hu Fadi Chen Shilin Chen 2018Molecular Plant2018,11,12:24
5Differential expression of serum miR-126,miR-141 and miR-21 as novel biomarkers for early detection of liver metastasis in colorectal cancer显示文摘Objective:MicroRNAs(miRNAs) have potential as diagnostic biomarkers in cancer.Evaluation of the association between miRNA expression patterns and early detection of liver metastasis in colorectal cancer(CRC) has not been reported.Methods:We investigated the expression of metastasis-associated miRs-31,335,206,141,126,200b,200c,21,Let7a,Let7b and Let7c in localized,liver-metastatic and other organ-metastatic CRC(OM-CRC).Expressions of target miRNAs in serum were evaluated in 116 consecutive localized CRC(L-CRC),72 synchronous liver-metastatic CRC(SLM-CRC) and 36 other OM-CRC by quantitative real-time PCR.Results:Seven of 11 tested miRNAs could be detected from serum.Four miRNAs,miR-126,Let-7a,miR-141 and miR-21 were identified as metastasis-associated miRNAs.Compared with L-CRC,significant upregulated expression was observed for miR-141 and miR-21 in SLM-CRC and OM-CRC,down-regulated expression was observed for miR-126 in SLM-CRC and OM-CRC,and up-regulated expression of Let-7a in OM-CRC.The receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve showed serum miR-126 had a cut-off [log 10 relative quantity(log 10 RQ)=–0.2005] with 77.78% sensitivity and 68.97% specificity with an area under curve(AUC) of 0.7564,miR-141 had a cut-off(log 10 RQ=–0.2285) with 86.11% sensitivity and 76.11% specificity with an AUC of 0.8279,and miR-21 had a cut-off(log 10 RQ=–0.1310) with 73.61% sensitivity and 66.38% specificity with an AUC of 0.7479.Conclusions:We identified liver metastasis-associated miRNAs,suggesting serum miR-126,miR-141 and miR-21 may be novel biomarkers for clinical diagnosis of early stage liver-metastatic CRC.Jie Yin Zhigang Bai Jianning Song Yun Yang Jin Wang Wei Han Jun Zhang Hua Meng Xuemei Ma Yao Yang Tingting Wang Weirong Li Zhongtao Zhang 2014Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014,26,1:22
6Overexpression of a dominant-negative mutant of SIRT1 in mouse heart causes cardiomyocyte apoptosis and early-onset heart failure显示文摘SIRT1,a mammalian ortholog of yeast silent information regulator 2(Sir2),is an NAD+-dependent protein deacetylase that plays a critical role in the regulation of vascular function.The current study aims to investigate the functional significance of deacetylase activity of SIRT1 in heart.Here we show that the early postnatal hearts expressed the highest level of SIRT1deacetylase activity compared to adult and aged hearts.We generated transgenic mice with cardiac-specific expression of a dominant-negative form of the human SIRT1(SIRT1H363Y),which represses endogenous SIRT1 activity.The transgenic mice displayed dilated atrial and ventricular chambers,and died early in the postnatal period.Pathological,echocardiographic and molecular phenotype confirmed the presence of dilated cardiomyopathy.Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick-end-labeling analysis revealed a greater abundance of apoptotic nuclei in the hearts of transgenic mice.Furthermore,we show that cardiomyocyte apoptosis caused by suppression of SIRT1 activity is,at least in part,due to increased p53acetylation and upregulated Bax expression.These results indicate that dominant negative form of SIRT1(SIRT1H363Y)overexpression in mouse hearts causes cardiomyocyte apoptosis and early-onset heart failure,suggesting a critical role of SIRT1 in preserving normal cardiac development during the early postnatal period.MU WenLi ZHANG QingJun TANG XiaoQiang FU WenYan ZHENG Wei LU YunBiao LI HongLiang WEI YuSheng LI Li SHE ZhiGang CHEN HouZao LIU DePei 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,9:12
7Periodic and chaotic dynamics of composite laminated piezoelectric rectangular plate with one-to-two internal resonance显示文摘The bifurcations and chaotic dynamics of a simply supported symmetric cross-ply composite lami- nated piezoelectric rectangular plate are studied for the first time, which are simultaneously forced by the transverse, in-plane excitations and the excitation loaded by piezoelectric layers. Based on the Reddy’s third-order shear deformation plate theory, the nonlinear governing equations of motion for the composite laminated piezoelectric rectangular plate are derived by using the Hamilton’s principle. The Galerkin’s approach is used to discretize partial differential governing equations to a two-degree- of-freedom nonlinear system under combined the parametric and external excitations. The method of multiple scales is employed to obtain the four-dimensional averaged equation. Numerical method is utilized to find the periodic and chaotic responses of the composite laminated piezoelectric rectangular plate. The numerical results indicate the existence of the periodic and chaotic responses in the aver- aged equation. 8Amino-functionalized poloxamer 407 with both mucoadhesive and thermosensitive properties:preparation, characterization and application in a vaginal drug delivery system显示文摘Lack of mucoadhesive properties is the major drawback to poloxamer 407(F127)-based in situ hydrogels for mucosal administration. The objective of the present study was to construct a novel mucoadhesive and thermosensitive in situ hydrogel drug delivery system based on an aminofunctionalized poloxamer for vaginal administration. First, amino-functionalized poloxamer 407(F127-NH2) was synthesized and characterized with respect to its micellization behavior and interaction with mucin. Then using acetate gossypol(AG) as model drug, AG-loaded F127-NH2-based in situ hydrogels(NFGs) were evaluated with respect to rheology, drug release, ex vivo vaginal mucosal adhesion, in vivo intravaginal retention and local irritation after vaginal administration to healthy female mice. The results show that F127-NH2 is capable of forming a thermosensitive in situ hydrogel with sustained drug release properties. An interaction between positively charged F127-NH2 and negatively charged mucin wasrevealed by changes in the particle size and zeta potential of mucin particles as well as an increase in the complex modulus of NFG caused by mucin. Ex vivo and in vivo fluorescence imaging and quantitative analysis of the amount of AG remaining in mouse vaginal lavage all demonstrated greater intravaginal retention of NFG than that of an unmodified F127-based in situ hydrogel. 9Progress of regional oceanography study associated with western boundary current in the South China Sea显示文摘Recent progress of physical oceanography in the South China Sea (SCS) associated with the western boundary current (WBC) and eddies is reviewed in this paper. It includes Argo observations of the WBC, eddy detection in the WBC based on satellite images, cross-continental shelf exchange in the WBC, eddy-current interaction, interannual variability of the WBC, air-sea interaction, the SCS throughflow (SCSTF), among others. The WBC in the SCS is strong, and its structure, variability and dynamic processes on seasonal and interannual time scales are yet to be fully understood. In this paper, we summarize progresses on the variability of the WBC, eddy-current interaction, air-sea interaction, and the SCSTF achieved in the past few years. Firstly, using the drifting buoy observations, we point out that the WBC becomes stronger and narrower after it reaches the central Vietnam coast. The possible mechanisms influencing the ocean circulation in the northern SCS are discussed, and the dynamic mechanisms that induce the countercurrent in the region of northern branch of WBC in winter are also studied quantitatively using momentum balance. The geostropic component of the WBC was diagnosed using the ship observation along 18°N, and we found that the WBC changed significantly on interannual time scale. Secondly, using the ship observations, two anti-cyclonic eddies in the winter of 2003/2004 in the northern SCS, and three anti-cyclonic eddies in the summer of 2007 along 18°N were studied. The results show that the two anti-cyclonic eddies can propagate southwestward along the continental shelf at the speed of first Rossby wave (~0.1 ms-1 ) in winter, and the interaction between the three anti-cyclonic eddies in summer and the WBC in the SCS is preliminarily revealed. Eddies on the continental shelf of northern SCS propagated southeastward with a maximum speed of 0.09 ms-1 , and those to the east of Vietnam coast had the largest kinetic energy, both of which imply strong interaction between eddy activity and WBC in the SCS. Thirdly, strong intraseasonal variability (ISV) of sea surface temperature (SST) near the WBC regions was found, and the ISV signal of SST in winter weakens the ISV signal of latent heat flux by 20%. 10Genome-wide Dissection of Co-selected UV-B Responsive Pathways in the UV-B Adaptation of Qingke显示文摘Qingke (Tibetan hulless barley) has long been cultivated and exposed to long-term and strong UV-B radiation on the Tibetan Plateau, which renders it an ideal species for elucidating novel UV-B responsive mechanisms in plants. Here we report a comprehensive metabolite profiling and metabolite-based genome-wide association study (mGWAS) using 196 diverse qingke and barley accessions. Our results demonstrated both constitutive and induced accumulation, and common genetic regulation, of metabolites from different branches of the phenylpropanoid pathway that are involved in UV-B protection. A total of 90 significant mGWAS loci for these metabolites were identified in barley-qingke differentiation regions, and a number of high-level metabolite trait alleles were found to be significantly enriched in qingke, suggesting co-selection of various phenylpropanoids. Upon dissecting the entire phenylpropanoid pathway, we identified some key determinants controlling natural variation of phenylpropanoid content, including three novel proteins, a flavone C-pentosyltransferase, a tyramine hydroxycinnamoyl acyltransferase, and a MYB transcription factor. 11Fate of secondary effluent dissolved organic matter during soil-aquifer treatment显示文摘The reduction of mass and trihalomethane formation potential (THMFP) of dissolved organic matter (DOM) and its fractions from secondary effluent during laboratory-scale soil-aquifer treatment (SAT) soil columns were studied. Reduction in dissolved organic carbon (DOC), absorbance of ultraviolet light at 254 nm (UV-254), biodegradable dissolved organic carbon (BDOC) and nonbiodegradable dis- solved organic carbon (NBDOC) for the bulk DOM averaged 72.35%, 53.98%, 97.49% and 35.33% across the soil columns, respectively. Using XAD-8 and XAD-4 resins, DOM was fractionated into 3 fractions: hydrophobic acid (HPO-A), transphilic acid (TPI-A) and hydrophilic fraction (HPI). HPO-A was removed by 61.06%, TPI-A by 54.86% and HPI by 74.95% as DOC as a consequence of the laboratory-scale SAT, respectively. The reduction of THMFP from HPO-A, TPI-A and HPI was 27.24%, 26.24% and 36.08%, respectively. Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) spectra revealed that the HPO-A isolated from the secondary effluent contained more aromatic functional groups than the corresponding TPI-A. Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrum analysis illustrated that TPI-A had decreased hydrocarbon and increased aromatics content in the SAT columns. Specific ultraviolet light absorbance (SUVA) and specific THMFP for each DOM fraction increased across the soil columns and HPI exhibited greater increase in both than HPO-A and TPI-A. 12Status and development of high-power laser facilities at the NLHPLP显示文摘In this paper, we review the status of the multifunctional experimental platform at the National Laboratory of High Power Laser and Physics(NLHPLP). The platform, including the SG-II laser facility, SG-II 9th beam, SG-II upgrade(SG-II UP) facility, and SG-II 5 PW facility, is operational and available for interested scientists studying inertial confinement fusion(ICF) and a broad range of high-energy-density physics. These facilities can provide important experimental capabilities by combining different pulse widths of nanosecond, picosecond, and femtosecond scales. In addition, the SG-II UP facility, consisting of a single petawatt system and an eight-beam nanosecond system, is introduced including several laser technologies that have been developed to ensure the performance of the facility. 13A Brief Introduction to BNU-HESM1.0 and Its Earth Surface Temperature Simulations显示文摘Integrated assessment models and coupled earth system models both have their limitations in understanding the interactions between human activity and the physical earth system. In this paper,a new human–earth system model,BNUHESM1.0,constructed by combining the economic and climate damage components of the Dynamic Integrated Model of Climate Change and Economy to the BNU-ESM model,is introduced. The ability of BNU-HESM1.0 in simulating the global CO2 concentration and surface temperature is also evaluated. We find that,compared to observation,BNU-HESM1.0underestimates the global CO2 concentration and its rising trend during 1965–2005,due to the uncertainty in the economic components. However,the surface temperature simulated by BNU-HESM1.0 is much closer to observation,resulting from the overestimates of surface temperature by the original BNU-ESM model. The uncertainty of BNU-ESM falls within the range of present earth system uncertainty,so it is the economic and climate damage component of BNU-HESM1.0 that needs to be improved through further study. However,the main purpose of this paper is to introduce a new approach to investigate the complex relationship between human activity and the earth system. 14Enhancing the strain hardening and ductility of Mg-Y alloy by introducing stacking faults显示文摘Due to the insufficient slip systems,Mg and its alloys exhibit poor ductility during plastic deformation at room temperature.To solve this problem,alloying is considered as a most effective method to improve the ductility of Mg alloys,which attracts wide attentions of industries.However,it is still a challenge to understand the ductilization mechanism,because of the complicated alloying elements and their interactions with Mg matrix.In this work,pure Mg and Mg-Y alloys were comparatively studied to investigate the effect of Y addition on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties.A huge increase of uniform elongation,from 5.3%to 20.7%,was achieved via only 3 wt%addition of yttrium.TEM results revealed that the only activated slip system in pure Mg was basalslip,led to its poor ductility at room temperature.In contrast,a large number of stacking faults and non-basal dislocations withcomponent were observed in the deformed Mg-Y alloy,which was proposed as the main reason for significant improvement of strain hardening and ductility.High resolution TEM indicated that most of the stacking faults were II and 12 intrinsic faults,which played a critical role in improving the ductility of Mg-Y alloy.Addition of Y into Mg alloy decreased the stacking fault energy,which induced high density stacking faults in the grain interior.Kang Wei Lirong Xiao Bo Gao Lei Li Yi Liu Zhigang Ding Wei Liu Hao Zhou Yonghao Zhao 2020Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2020,8,4:8
15Isolation of Lymphocytes and Their Innate Immune Characterizations from Liver,Intestine,Lung and Uterus显示文摘In steady-state conditions, the number and distribution of lymphocyte populations are under homeostatic control.New lymphocytes are continuously produced in primary and secondary lymphoid organs and then achieve immune-competence within different tissues, and they must challenge with resident cells for survival. The first step in the study of tissue lymphoid cells is their isolation in intact and viable form appropriate for establishment of in vitro culture systems. For reasons of simplicity, cell purity, cell yields and various purposes, lymphocytes obtained from different tissues in different labs were subjected to diverse protocols. 16Global warming projections using the human–earth system model BNU-HESM1.0显示文摘Future climate change is usually projected by coupled earth system models under specific emission scenarios designed by integrated assessment models(IAMs),and this offline approach means there is no interaction between the coupled earth system models and the IAMs.This paper introduces a new method to design possible future emission scenarios and corresponding climate change, in which a simple economic and climate damage component is added to the coupled earth system model of Beijing Normal University(BNU-ESM). With the growth of population and technological expertise and the declining emission-to-output ratio described in the Dynamic Integrated Climate-Economy model, the projected carbon emission is 13.7 Gt C, resulting in a 2.4 °C warming by the end of the twenty-first century(2080–2099) compared with1980–1999. This paper also suggests the importance of the land and ocean carbon cycle in determining the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. 17Effect of typhoon with extreme precipitation on mountain reservoir drinking water treatment: a case study in Ningbo, China显示文摘Due to frequent drinking water pollution accidents in the past decade, it is common that mountain reservoirs were used as the source of drinking water in China. However, some coastal areas frequently suffer from typhoon with extreme precipitation, which results in the water quality deterioration of the reservoirs. The influence of typhoons with extreme precipitation on Jiaokou reservoir and the emergency treatment process of Maojiaping water treatment plant in the past three typical typhoons with extreme precipitation from the year of 2012-2015 were studied. It was found that the degradation of water quality, such as the increase of turbidity and bacteria index, may not merely appear during the events, but last for several days. Changing the dosage of water purification agent, such as coagulant and disinfectant at right time and place may be an efficient emergency water treatment process. Based on the analysis of water quality variation rule during and after the events, it was also found that emergency treatment can be fully prepared before the arrival of a typhoon with extreme precipitation. 18Complex Flow for Wing-in-ground Effect Craft with Power Augmented Ram Engine in Cruise显示文摘Power augmented ram (PAR) engine is a popular equipment to reduce the requirement of power for takeoff and improve aerodynamic performance.To provide detailed insight into the aerodynamic characteristics of wing-in-ground effect (WIG) craft with PAR engine,numerical simulations are carried out on WIG craft models in cruise.Simplified engine models are applied to the simulations.Two cruise modes for PAR engine are considered.The aerodynamic characteristics of the WIG craft and other features are studied.Comparisons with WIG craft model without PAR show that shutoff of PAR engine results in an increase in drag and less change in lift.Accordingly for the work of PAR engine,the air flow blown from the engine accelerates the flow around the upper surface and a high-speed attached flow near the trailing edge is recorded.With the schemed PAR flow,more suction force is realized and the flow features over the wing vary noticeably.It is also shown that the Coanda effect,provided with an attached flow,introduces an appropriate and practical flow mode for WIG craft with PAR engine in cruise.The results refresh our understanding on aerodynamic characteristics of WIG craft.Yang Zhigang,Yang Wei Shanghai Automotive Wind Tunnel Center,Tongji University,Shanghai 201804,China 2010Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2010,23,1:7
19Under the surface:Pressure-induced planetary-scale waves,volcanic lightning,and gaseous clouds caused by the submarine eruption of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcano显示文摘We present a narrative of the eruptive events culminating in the cataclysmic January 15, 2022 eruption of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai Volcano by synthesizing diverse preliminary seismic, volcanological, sound wave, and lightning data available within the first few weeks after the eruption occurred. The first hour of eruptive activity produced fast-propagating tsunami waves, long-period seismic waves, loud audible sound waves, infrasonic waves, exceptionally intense volcanic lightning and an unsteady volcanic plume that transiently reached-at 58km-the Earth’s mesosphere. Energetic seismic signals were recorded worldwide and the globally stacked seismogram showed episodic seismic events within the most intense periods of phreatoplinian activity, and they correlated well with the infrasound pressure waveform recorded in Fiji. Gravity wave signals were strong enough to be observed over the entire planet in just the first few hours, with some circling the Earth multiple times subsequently. These large-amplitude, long-wavelength atmospheric disturbances come from the Earth’s atmosphere being forced by the magmatic mixture of tephra, melt and gasses emitted by the unsteady but quasicontinuous eruption from 0402±1–1800 UTC on January 15, 2022. Atmospheric forcing lasted much longer than rupturing from large earthquakes recorded on modern instruments, producing a type of shock wave that originated from the interaction between compressed air and ambient(wavy) sea surface. This scenario differs from conventional ideas of earthquake slip, landslides, or caldera collapse-generated tsunami waves because of the enormous(~1000x) volumetric change due to the supercritical nature of volatiles associated with the hot,volatile-rich phreatoplinian plume. The time series of plume altitude can be translated to volumetric discharge and mass flow rate. For an eruption duration of ~12 h, the eruptive volume and mass are estimated at 1.9 km^(3) and~2 900 Tg, respectively, corresponding to a VEI of 5–6 for this event. The high frequency and intensity of lightning was enhanced by the production of fine ash due to magma-seawater interaction with concomitant high charge per unit mass and the high pre-eruptive concentration of dissolved volatiles. Analysis of lightning flash frequencies provides a rapid metric for plume activity and eruption magnitude. Many aspects of this eruption await further investigation by multidisciplinary teams.
