2High HIV incidence epidemic among men who have sex with men in china: results from a multi-site cross-sectional study显示文摘Background:Recent upsurge of new HIV infections among men who have sex with men(MSM)is a major concern in China.Paucity of national-level information regarding the burden and predictors of this progressive epidemic of new infections called for a multi-centric,timely and comprehensive investigation.Methods:Mixed methods were used to recruit MSM from seven cities in China between 2012 and 2013.Recent and established HIV infections were estimated by Western Blot and BED HIV-1 capture enzyme immunoassay.Syphilis and herpes simplex virus-2(HSV-2)were also tested.Results:A total of 4496 eligible MSM were recruited.The majority was aged≤35 years(77.5%),migrants(60.3%),never married(69.8%),and played receptive role in anal sex(70.5%).The HIV prevalence was 9.9%,and 41.9%were recently infected,with sensitivity/specificity adjusted HIV incidence of 8.9(95%CI:7.6-10.2)/100 Person-Years.The prevalence of history HSV-2 and syphilis were 12.5%and 8.5%,respectively.Recent HIV infection was associated with having multiple male partners(aOR=1.4,95%CI 1.1-1.9),recreational drug use(aOR=2.2,95%CI 1.6-3.0),anal bleeding(aOR=2.1,95%CI 1.4-3.0),syphilis infection(aOR=2.8,95%CI 1.9-4.3)and history HSV-2 infection(aOR=2.3,95%CI 1.5-3.3).Conclusion:High rate of recent HIV infection is potentially resulting in progressive deterioration of the overall HIV epidemic among MSM in China.Targeted interventions to address high-risk MSM including those having multiple partners,history of recreational drug use and syphilis or HSV-2 infection seemed to be the need of the hour.Jun-Jie Xu Wei-Ming Tang Hua-Chun Zou Tanmay Mahapatra Qing-Hai Hu Geng-Feng Fu Zhe Wang Lin Lu Ming-Hua Zhuang Xi Chen Ji-Hua Fu Yan-Qiu Yu Jin-Xin Lu Yong-Jun Jiang Wen-Qing Geng Xiao-Xu Han Hong Shang 2016Infectious Diseases of Poverty2016,5,1:14
3Therapeutic effect of nerve growth factor on cerebral infarction in dogs using the hemisphere anomalous volume ratio of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging显示文摘A model of focal cerebral ischemic infarction was established in dogs through middle cerebral artery occlusion of the right side.Thirty minutes after occlusion,models were injected with nerve growth factor adjacent to the infarct locus.The therapeutic effect of nerve growth factor against cerebral infarction was assessed using the hemisphere anomalous volume ratio,a quantitative index of diffusion-weighted MRI.At 6 hours,24 hours,7 days and 3 months after modeling,the hemisphere anomalous volume ratio was significantly reduced after treatment with nerve growth factor. 8Treatment-seeking behaviour and barriers to service access for sexually transmitted diseases among men who have sex with men in China:a multicentre cross-sectional survey显示文摘Background:Delayed or inappropriate treatment for sexually transmitted diseases(STDs)increases the risk of HIV acquisition and may cause other harmful outcomes.However,studies on STD treatment-seeking behaviour and correlated factors in men who have sex with men(MSM)are scarce.This information is crucial for the promotion of STD treatment-seeking behaviour and reduction of HIV transmission among Chinese MSM.Methods:During 2012-2013,a multicentre cross-sectional study was conducted in 7 Chinese cities.Participants completed an interview-questionnaire and gave venous blood samples,which were then tested for antibodies to HIV,syphilis,and herpes simplex virus-2(HSV-2).MSM who tested positive for syphilis/HSV-2 or had obvious STD-related symptoms within the last 12 months were defined as suspected STD-infected MSM.Results:Of the 4496 eligible MSM who completed this survey,24.4%(1096/4496)were categorized as suspected STD-infected MSM.35.7%(391/1096)of these MSM with suspected STD infections sought STD treatment in clinics within the last 12 months.Among MSM who did not attend STD clinics for treatment,the prevalence of syphilis and HSV-2 was significantly higher;the HIV prevalence and incidence within this subpopulation reached as high as 14.5%and 12.2/100 person-years,respectively.Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that having 7-12 years of education(vs.≤6 years;aOR,2.5;95%CI,1.0-6.1),≥13 years of education(vs.≤6 years:aOR,2.8;95%CI,1.2-7.0),monthly income>500 USD(vs.≤500 USD:aOR,1.5;95%CI,1.1-2.1),obvious STD-related symptoms within last 12 months(aOR,5.3;95%CI,3.7-7.5),being HIV infected(aOR,1.7;95%CI,1.1-2.6),currently syphilis infected(aOR,0.6;95%CI,0.4-0.9)and HSV-2 infected(aOR,0.6;95%CI,0.5-0.9)were independent correlates with seeking STD treatment in clinics among Chinese MSM.Conclusions:The high prevalence of STD infection coupled with a low proportion of individuals who exhibit appropriate treatment-seeking behaviour create a high risk of a growing HIV epidemic among Chinese MSM.Models that prioritize better screening for and education about STDs should be urgently implemented,especially among low-income MSM.Jun-Jie Xu Yan-Qiu Yu Qing-Hai Hu Hong-Jing Yan Zhe Wang Lin Lu Ming-Hua Zhuang Xi Chen Ji-Hua Fu Wei-Ming Tang Wen-Qing Geng Yong-Jun Jiang Hong Shang 2017Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017,6,1:5
9SNHG16 promotes hepatocellular carcinoma development via activating ECM receptor interaction pathway显示文摘Background:Accumulating data have suggested that long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)play important roles in regulating tumor cell growth.This study was designed to investigate the role of SNHG16 in hep-atocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods:SNHG16 expression was detected with real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR).The cut-offvalue of SNHG16 for tumor-free survival(TFS)was determined with receiver operating characteristic curve analysis.Small interfering RNA was used to inhibit the expression of SNHG16 in HCC cell lines.The biologic behavior of HCC cell was determined with cell viability assay and Transwell assay in vitro.The potential predictive value of SNHG16 on prognosis was analyzed by Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox proportional hazards regression model.Results:SNHG16 expression was upregulated in tumor tissues and HCC cell lines.High expression of SNHG16 was associated with tumor recurrence and poor prognosis after surgery.Multivariate analysis revealed that SNHG16 was an independent prognostic factor for poor recurrence-free survival.Moreover,inhibition of SNHG16 in HepG2,Hep3B,and BEL-7402 cells significantly reduced cell invasiveness and proliferation.Mechanistic analyses indicated that the ECM-receptor interaction pathway was remarkably activated by SNHG16.Conclusions:SNHG16 might be a promising biomarker for predicting tumor recurrence in HCC patients after surgery and a potential therapeutic target for HCC.Qi-Jun Zhang Da-Zhi Li Bing-Yi Lin Lei Geng Zhe Yang Shu-Seng Zheng 2022Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2022,21,1:5

14''Minimizing tacrolimus' ' strategy and long-term survival after liver transplantation显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effect of the ‘‘minimizing tacrolimus' ' strategy on long-term survival of patients after liver transplantation(LT).METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study of 319 patients who received LT between January 2009 and December 2011 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Following elimination of ineligible patients, 235 patients were included in the study. The relationship between early tacrolimus(TAC)exposure and survival period was analyzed by Kaplan Meier curves. Adverse effects related to TAC were eval-uated by the χ2 test. Routine monitoring of blood TAC concentration(TC) was performed using the PRO-TracTM Ⅱ Tacrolimus Elisa Kit(Diasorin, United States). RESULTS: Of 235 subjects enrolled in the study, 124(52.8%) experienced adverse effects due to TAC. When evaluating mean TC, the survival time of patients with a mean TC < 5 ng/mL was significantly shorter than that in the other groups(911.3 ± 131.6 d vs 1381.1 ± 66.1 d, 911.3 ± 131.6 d vs 1327.3 ± 47.8 d, 911.3 ± 131.6 d vs 1343.2 ± 83.1 d, P < 0.05), while the survival times of patients with a mean TC of 5-7, 7-10 and 10-15 ng/mL were comparable. Adverse effects due to TAC in all four groups were not significantly different. When comparing the standard deviation(SD) of TC among the groups, the survival time of patients with a SD of 2-4 was significantly longer than that in the other groups(1388.8 ± 45.4 d vs 1029.6 ± 131.3 d, 1388.8 ± 45.4 d vs 1274.9 ± 57.0 d, P < 0.05), while in patients with a SD < 2 and SD > 4, the survival time was not statistically different. Adverse effects experienced in all three groups were not statistically different. 16Lower mean platelet volume is a risk indicator of hepatocellular carcinoma recurrence following liver transplantation显示文摘Background: Lower mean platelet volume(MPV) is an indicator of platelet activity in the setting of tumor development. This study was to assess the relationship between preoperative MPV and survival outcomes of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) following liver transplantation(LT). Methods: The demographic and clinical characteristics of 304 HCC patients following LT were retrieved from an LT database. All the patients were divided into the normal and lower MPV groups according to the median MPV. The factors were first analyzed using a Kaplan–Meier survival analysis, then the factors with P < 0.10 were selected for multivariate Cox regression analysis and were used to define the independent risk factors for poor prognosis. Results: The 1-, 3-, and 5-year tumor free survival was 95.34%, 74.67% and 69.29% in the normal MPV group, respectively, and 95.40%, 59.97% and 42.94% in the lower MPV group, respectively( P < 0.01). No significant difference was observed in post-LT complications between the normal and lower MPV groups. Portal vein tumor thrombosis(PVTT)[hazard ratio(HR = 2.24;95% confidence interval: 1.46–3.43;P < 0.01) and lower MPV(HR = 1.58;95% confidence interval: 1.05–2.36;P = 0.03) were identified as independent prognostic risk factors for recipient survival. 17Scatter Search Based Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm for Earliness/Tardiness Flowshop Scheduling with Uncertainty显示文摘Considering the imprecise nature of the data in real-world problems,the earliness/tardiness(E/T) flowshop scheduling problem with uncertain processing time and distinct due windows is concerned in this paper.A fuzzy scheduling model is established and then transformed into a deterministic one by employing the method of maximizing the membership function of middle value.Moreover,an effective scatter search based particle swarm optimization(SSPSO) algorithm is proposed to minimize the sum of total earliness and tardiness penalties.The proposed SSPSO algorithm incorporates the scatter search(SS) algorithm into the frame of particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm and gives full play to their characteristics of fast convergence and high diversity.Besides,a differential evolution(DE) scheme is used to generate solutions in the SS.In addition,the dynamic update strategy and critical conditions are adopted to improve the performance of SSPSO.The simulation results indicate the superiority of SSPSO in terms of effectiveness and efficiency.Jia-Can Geng Zhe Cui Xing-Sheng Gu 2016International Journal of Automation and computing2016,13,3:2
18Divergence in flowering time is a major component contributing to reproductive isolation between two wild rice species(Oryza rufipogon and O. nivara)显示文摘It is of critical importance for our understanding of speciation process to determine the forms of reproductive isolation and their relative importance in species divergence. Oryza nivara and O. rufipogon are direct ancestors of Asian cultivated rice and a progenitor-daughter species pair. Investigating the reproductive isolation between them provides insights into plant speciation and helps understanding of the rice domestication. Here, we quantitatively measured the major components of reproductive isolation between the two species based on common garden and crossing experiments for three pairs of sympatric populations in Nepal, Cambodia and Laos.We revealed significant differences in the flowering times between species pairs, with O. nivara flowering much earlier than O. rufipogon. A very weak reduction in seed set but no reduction in F1 viability and fertility were detected for the crosses between species relative to those within species. 19Genomic landscape of parallel domestication of upland rice and its implications显示文摘Parallel domestication has been widely acknowledged but its genetic basis remains largely unclear.As an important rice ecotype,upland rice was assumedly domesticated multiple times in two rice subspecies(Indica and Japonica)and provides a feasible system to explore the genetic basis of parallel domestication.To uncover the genome-wide pattern of genetic differentiation between upland and lowland rice and explore the parallelism of genetic changes during upland rice domestication,we obtained whole-genome sequences of 95 rice landraces and yielded genome-wide expression data for five tissues of representative accessions of upland and lowland rice.Our phylogenetic analyses confirmed multiple domestications of the upland ecotype in two rice subspecies.Genomic scans based on resequencing data identified substantial differentiation between the upland and lowland ecotypes with 11.4%and 14.8%of the genome diverged between the two ecotypes in Indica and Japonica,respectively.Further genome-wide gene expression analyses found that 30%of effectively expressed genes were significantly differentiated between two ecotypes,indicating the importance of regulation changes in the domestication of upland rice.Importantly,we found that only 1.8%of differentiated genomes and 1.6%of differentially expressed genes were shared by upland Indica and upland Japonica,suggestive of largely unparal lelgenetic alterations during upland rice domestication.These findings not only provide new insights into the genetic basis of parallel domestication at the genome scale but could also facilitate genetic improvement and breeding of rice and crops in general.Mei-Xia Wang Chun-Yan Jing Xiu-Hua Wang Zhe Cai Lian Zhou Mu-Fan Geng Jing-Dan Han Jie Guo Fu-Min Zhang Song Ge 2021Journal of Systematics and Evolution2021,59,2:2
