22018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. Based on the globally recent development and the evidence-based data in China, 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was jointly prepared by the Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Pediatric Society, Chinese Medical Association(CMA)/Committee on Pediatric Syncope, Pediatricians Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Committee on Pediatric Cardiology, Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Pediatric Cardiology Society, Beijing Pediatric Society, Beijing Medical Association(BMA). 4Metabolic dysregulation and emerging therapeutical targets for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is an aggressive human cancer with increasing incidence worldwide.Multiple efforts have been made to explore pharmaceutical therapies to treat HCC,such as targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitors,immune based therapies and combination of chemotherapy.However,limitations exist in current strategies including chemoresistance for instance.Tumor initiation and progression is driven by reprogramming of metabolism,in particular during HCC development.Recently,metabolic associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD),a reappraisal of new nomenclature for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),indicates growing appreciation of metabolism in the pathogenesis of liver disease,including HCC,thereby suggesting new strategies by targeting abnormal metabolism for HCC treatment.In this review,we introduce directions by highlighting the metabolic targets in glucose,fatty acid,amino acid and glutamine metabolism,which are suitable for HCC pharmaceutical intervention.We also summarize and discuss current pharmaceutical agents and studies targeting deregulated metabolism during HCC treatment.Furthermore,opportunities and challenges in the discovery and development of HCC therapy targeting metabolism are discussed.Danyu Du Chan Liu Mengyao Qin Xiao Zhang Tao Xi Shengtao Yuan Haiping Hao Jing Xiong 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,2:27

6A novel quantified bitterness evaluation model for traditional Chinese herbs based on an animal ethology principle显示文摘Traditional Chinese herbs(TCH) are currently gaining attention in disease prevention and health care plans. However, their general bitter taste hinders their use. Despite the development of a variety of taste evaluation methods, it is still a major challenge to establish a quantitative detection technique that is objective, authentic and sensitive. Based on the two-bottle preference test(TBP), we proposed a novel quantitative strategy using a standardized animal test and a unified quantitative benchmark. To reduce the difference of results, the methodology of TBP was optimized. The relationship between the concentration of quinine and animal preference index(PI) was obtained. Then the PI of TCH was measured through TBP, and bitterness results were converted into a unified numerical system using the relationship of concentration and PI. To verify the authenticity and sensitivity of quantified results,human sensory testing and electronic tongue testing were applied. The quantified results showed a good discrimination ability. For example, the bitterness of Coptidis Rhizoma was equal to 0.0579 mg/mL quinine, and Nelumbinis Folium was equal to 0.0001 mg/mL. The validation results proved that the newassessment method for TCH was objective and reliable. 7End-stage liver disease score and future liver remnant volume predict post-hepatectomy liver failure in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the world’s sixth most common malignant tumor and the third cause of cancer death.Although great progress has been made in hepatectomy,it is still associated with a certain degree of risk of posthepatectomy liver failure(PHLF),which extends the length of hospital stay and remains the leading cause of postoperative death.Studies have shown that assessment of hepatic functional reserve before hepatectomy is beneficial for reducing the incidence of PHLF.AIM To assess the value of model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score combined with standardized future liver remnant(sFLR)volume in predicting PHLF in patients undergoing hepatectomy for HCC.METHODS This study was attended by 238 patients with HCC who underwent hepatectomy between January 2015 and January 2018.Discrimination of sFLR volume,MELD score,and sFLR/MELD ratio to predict PHLF was evaluated according to the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve.RESULTS The patients were divided into two groups according to whether PHLF occurred after hepatectomy.The incidence of PHLF was 8.4%in our research.The incidence of PHLF increased with the decrease in sFLR volume and the increase in MELD score.Both sFLR volume and MELD score were considered independent predictive factors for PHLF.Moreover,the cut-off value of the sFLR/MELD score to predict PHLF was 0.078(P<0.001).This suggests that an sFLR/MELD≥0.078 indicates a higher incidence of PHLF than an sFLR/MELD<0.078.CONCLUSION MELD combined with sFLR is a reliable and effective PHLF predictor,which is superior to MELD score or sFLR volume alone.Fan-Hua Kong Xiong-Ying Miao Heng Zou Li Xiong Yu Wen Bo Chen Xi Liu Jiang-Jiao Zhou 2019World Journal of Clinical Cases2019,7,22:14

9Stems and leaves of Aconitum carmichaelii Debx.as potential herbal resources for treating rheumatoid arthritis: Chemical analysis,toxicity and activity evaluation显示文摘According to folk usage of Aconitum carmichaelii Debx., the present study was designed to determine the feasibility of the stems and leaves of Aconitum carmichaelii Debx. as a new medicinal resource. Fourteen alkaloids in mother roots, fibrous roots, stems, and leaves of Aconitum carmichaelii Debx. were measured by HPLC-MS/MS. And multivariate analysis methods, such as clustering analysis and principal component analysis, were applied to analyze the difference among various parts. In addition, the acute toxicity, analgesia, and anti-inflammatory tests were carried out. The results suggested that the contents of alkaloids in mother roots and fibrous roots were approximate, but those of leaves and stems were different from mother roots and fibrous roots. The results of the acute toxicity testing demonstrated the toxicity of fibrous root was strongest, and mother roots were slightly less toxic than fibrous roots. The stems and leaves were far less toxic than mother and fibrous roots. In addition, the analgesia and inflammatory tests showed the effects of the various tissues had no difference each other. These results provided a basis for developing new complementary and alternative treatments for rheumatoid arthritis patients. 10Effect of proteolytic starter culture isolated from Chinese Dong fermented pork(Nanx Wudl)on microbiological,biochemical and organoleptic attributes in dry fermented sausages显示文摘The effect of a proteolytic starter culture isolated from Nanx Wudl,on microbiological,biochemical and organoleptic attributes of dry fermented sausages was investigated during processing.Based on preliminary screening,the combination of Staphylococcus xylosus SX16 and Lactobacillus plantarum CMRC6,showing excellent proteolytic activity in vitro,was selected as the multi-strain starter(starter LS).For comparison,the single-strain starter culture of L.plantarum CMRC6(starter LB)and non-inoculated control were also tested.During fermentation,lactic acid bacteria and staphylococci dominated the microbiota and suppressed the Enterobacteriaceae growth in LS-inoculated sausages.The addition of LS starter accelerated acidification and proteolysis during ripening,improving the contents of total free amino acids and several essential free amino acids(Phe,Ile and Leu).Volatile compounds analysis revealed that LS-fermented sausage showed the highest abundance of 3-methyl-1-butanol,probably due to the inoculated S.xylosus.The inoculation of LS starter improved the sensory properties of sausages,especially the flavor attribute.Therefore,S.xylosus SX16 and L.plantarum CMRC6 are promising candidates for inclusion as multi-strain starters in the manufacture of gourmet fermented dry sausage.Xi Chen Ruifang Mi Biao Qi Suyue Xiong Jiapeng Li Chao Qu Xiaoling Qiao Wenhua Chen Shouwei Wang 2021Food Science and Human Wellness2021,10,1:9
11CHARACTERISTICS OF ELECTROMECHANICAL COUPLING SELF-SYNCHRONIZATION OF A MULTI-MOTOR VIBRATION TRANSMISSION SYSTEM显示文摘Multi-motor vibratory transmission systems have been wide used in large vibratory machines, and four-motor linear vibratory machine is one typical equipment of them. Under non-forcible synchronization condition zero-phase synchronization of the machine is non-stationary and it-phase synchronization is stable. Under half-forcible synchronization condition in which only one motor is controlled being synchronous to another, only lag synchronization near zero-phase synchronization can be realized. Both of the characteristics have never been revealed with classical theory quantitatively. 13Scalable volumetric imaging for ultrahigh-speed brain mapping at synaptic resolution显示文摘The speed of high-resolution optical imaging has been a rate-limiting factor for meso-scale mapping of brain structures and functional circuits,which is of fundamental importance for neuroscience research.Here,we describe a new microscopy method of Volumetric Imaging with Synchronized on-the-fly-scan and Readout(VISo R)for high-throughput,high-quality brain mapping.Combining synchronized scanning beam illumination and oblique imaging over cleared tissue sections in smooth motion,the VISo R system effectively eliminates motion blur to obtain undistorted images.By continuously imaging moving samples without stopping,the system achieves high-speed 3D image acquisition of an entire mouse brain within1.5 hours,at a resolution capable of visualizing synaptic spines.A pipeline is developed for sample preparation,imaging,3D image reconstruction and quantification.Our approach is compatible with immunofluorescence methods,enabling flexible cell-type specific brain mapping and is readily scalable for large biological samples such as primate brains.Using this system,we examined behaviorally relevant whole-brain neuronal activation in 16 c-Fos-sh EGFP mice under resting or forced swimming conditions.Our results indicate the involvement of multiple subcortical areas in stress response.Intriguingly,neuronal activation in these areas exhibits striking individual variability among different animals,suggesting the necessity of sufficient cohort size for such studies.Hao Wang Qingyuan Zhu Lufeng Ding Yan Shen Chao-Yu Yang Fang Xu Chang Shu Yujie Guo Zhiwei Xiong Qinghong Shan Fan Jia Peng Su Qian-Ru Yang Bing Li Yuxiao Cheng Xiaobin He Xi Chen Feng Wu Jiang-Ning Zhou Fuqiang Xu Hua Han Pak-Ming Lau Guo-Qiang Bi 2019National Science Review2019,6,5:7
14P-doped BN nanosheets decorated graphene as the functional interlayer for Li–S batteries显示文摘Lithium–sulfur(Li–S)batteries have attracted much attention due to their ultrahigh theoretical specific capacity.However,serious capacity attenuation caused by shuttle effect still inhibits the performance improvement.Herein,a modified separator consists of the few-layer graphene as a highly conductive network and stable scaffold to support P-doped boron nitride(denoted as BN-P@GO)as the functional interlayer of Li–S batteries.The cell with the interlayer provides an initial discharge capacity as high as1045.3 mAh g^-1,and retains a high reversible capacity of 728.7 mAh g^-1 at 1 C after 500 cycles with a capacity decay of 0.061%per cycle.Moreover,the rate capability is also superior to cells with BN@GO or BN-P interlayers,i.e.reversible capcity of 457.9 mAh g^-1 even at 3 C.The excellent electrochemical performance is ascribed to the synergistic effect of physical barrier and chemical adsorption for dissolved polysulfides provided by the modified layer.Furhtermore,it also mitigates the polarization and promotes kinetic reactions of the cells.This work provides a concise and effective method for commercialization of lithium–sulfur batteries.Jing Zhang Wenzhe Ma Zhenyu Feng Fangfang Wu Denghu Wei Baojuan Xi Shenglin Xiong 2019Journal of Energy Chemistry2019,28,12:7
15A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. 16Bonding VSe2 ultrafine nanocrystals on graphene toward advanced lithium-sulfur batterie显示文摘Lithium–sulfur batteries have been attracting considerable research attention due to their high energy densities and low costs. However, one of their main challenges is the undesired shuttling of polysulfides, causing rapid capacity degradation. Herein, we report the first example of sulfiphilic VSe2 ultrafine nanocrystals immobilized on nitrogen-doped graphene to modify the battery separator for alleviating the shuttling problem. VSe2 nanocrystals provide numerous active sites for chemisorption of polysulfides as well as benefit the nucleation and growth of Li2S. Furthermore, the kinetic reactions are accelerated which is confirmed by higher exchange current density and higher lithium ion diffusion coefficient. And the first-principles calculations further show that the exposed sulfiphilic planes of VSe2 boost the redox of Li2S. When used as separators within the lithium sulfur batteries, the cell indicates greatly enhanced electrochemical performances with excellent long cycling stability and exceptional rate capability up to 8 C. Moreover, it delivers a higher areal capacity of 4.04 mAh·cm^−2 as well as superior cycling stability with sulfur areal loading up to 6.1 mg·cm^−2. 19Immobilizing VN ultrafine nanocrystals on N-doped carbon nanosheets enable multiple effects for high-rate lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘The exploitation of new sulfiphilic and catalytic materials is considered as the promising strategy to overcome severe shuttle effect and sluggish kinetics conversion of lithium polysulfides within lithium-sulfur batteries.Herein,we design and fabricate monodisperse VN ultrafine nanocrystals immobilized on nitrogen-doped carbon hybrid nanosheets(VN@NCSs)via an one-step in-situ selftemplate and self-reduction strategy,which simultaneously promotes the interaction with polysulfides and the kinetics of the sulfur conversion reactions demonstrated by experimental and theoretical results.By virtue of the multifunctional structural features of VN@NCSs,the cell with ultrathin VN@NCSs(only 5 pm thickness)modified separator indicates improved electrochemical performances with long cycling stability over 1,000 cycles at 2 C with only 0.041%capacity decay per cycle and excellent rate capability(787.6 mAh g^(-1) at 10 C).Importantly,it delivers an areal reversible capacity of 3.71 mAh cm^(-2) accompanied by robust cycling life.Ning Song Baojuan Xi Peng Wang Xiaojian Ma Weihua Chen Jinkui Feng Shenglin Xiong 2022Nano Research2022,15,2:4
20Development of silicon photonic devices for optical interconnects显示文摘Silicon photonic devices based on complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS) compatible technologies have shown attractive performances on very-large-scale monolithic optoelectronic integration,high speed modulation and switching,and efficient off-chip optical coupling.This paper presents the recent progress on fast silicon optical modulation,wavelength-insensitive optical switching and efficient optical coupling techniques in our group.Several CMOS-compatible silicon optical couplers with different structures have been developed,showing the highest coupling efficiency of 65%.Broadband silicon-based optical switches with sub-nanosecond switching on-off time are experimentally realized.Silicon modulators with novel PN junctions are demonstrated with the speed up to 50 Gb s-1.XIAO Xi LI ZhiYong CHU Tao XU Hao LI XianYao NEMKOVA Anastasia KANG Xiong YU YuDe YU JinZhong 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,7:4
