1Meningeal lymphatic vessels regulate brain tumor drainage and immunity显示文摘Recent studies have shown that meningeal lymphatic vessels(MLVs),which are located both dorsally and basally beneath the skull,provide a route for draining macromolecules and trafficking immune cells from the central nervous system(CNS)into cervical lymph nodes(CLNs),and thus represent a potential therapeutic target for treating neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases.However,the roles of MLVs in brain tumor drainage and immunity remain unexplored.Here we show that dorsal MLVs undergo extensive remodeling in mice with intracranial gliomas or metastatic melanomas.RNA-seq analysis of MLV endothelial cells revealed changes in the gene sets involved in lymphatic remodeling,fluid drainage,as well as inflammatory and immunological responses.Disruption of dorsal MLVs alone impaired intratumor fluid drainage and the dissemination of brain tumor cells to deep CLNs(dCLNs).Notably,the dendritic cell(DC)trafficking from intracranial tumor tissues to dCLNs decreased in mice with defective dorsal MLVs,and increased in mice with enhanced dorsal meningeal lymphangiogenesis.Strikingly,disruption of dorsal MLVs alone,without affecting basal MLVs or nasal LVs,significantly reduced the efficacy of combined anti-PD-1/CTLA-4 checkpoint therapy in striatal tumor models.Furthermore,mice bearing tumors overexpressing VEGF-C displayed a better response to anti-PD-1/CTLA-4 combination therapy,and this was abolished by CCL21/CCR7 blockade,suggesting that VEGF-C potentiates checkpoint therapy via the CCL21/CCR7 pathway.Together,the results of our study not only demonstrate the functional aspects of MLVs as classic lymphatic vasculature,but also highlight that they are essential in generating an efficient immune response against brain tumors.Xueting Hu Qiuping Deng Lu Ma Qingqing Li Yidong Chen Yuhan Liao Fan Zhou Chen Zhang Linlin Shao Jun Feng Tubao He Weihai Ning Yan Kong Yingqing Huo Aibin He Bing Liu Jingjing Zhang Ralf Adams Yulong He Fuchou Tang Xiuwu Bian Jincai Luo 2020Cell Research2020,30,3:11
2The study on the safety and efficacy of amnion graft for preventing the recurrence of moderate to severe intrauterine adhesions显示文摘Transcervical resection of adhesion(TCRA)is the standard treatment for the intrauterine adhesions,but the recurrence of adhesions is a tough problem for the gynecologist.In addition,the therapeutic strategy after TCRA about prevention of recurrence remains controversial especially for the patients with moderate to severe intrauterine adhesions(IUAs).Hence,we designed this study to explore the safety and efficacy of fresh amnion grafts for preventing the recurrence after TCRA for patients with moderate to severe IUAs.One hundred patients with moderate to severe IUAs who presented with a history of hypomenorrhea,amenorrhea and infertility were included in the study from January 2015 to December 2017.Patients were divided into amnion group(52 patients)and chitosan group(48 patients).Fresh amnion grafts or intrauterine injections of chitosan were administered after TCRA.Transvaginal ultrasonography(TVUS)and hysteroscopy were performed at the first and third month after the operation.The surgical procedures for all patients were completed successfully without relevant complications.In amnion group,8 patients exhibited relapse in the first month and 2 patients in three months after surgery;in chitosan group,23 women exhibited relapse in the first month and 18 patients in three months after surgery.Statistical analysis revealed that the recurrence rate of adhesion in amnion group was significantly lower than those of chitosan group in the first and three months after surgery(P1=0.000,P2=0.000).After TCRA,fresh amnion graft plays a significant role in preventing further adhesions than injections of chitosan.Changjiang Li Aiqi Cai Congcong Sun Benyuan Wu Xinpei Chen Yanhua Mao Yingfeng Zhang Yating Gou Jie Yu Yuhan Wang Huanhuan Yu Jia Wang 2020Genes & Diseases2020,7,2:11
3A Review of Technical Advances,Barriers,and Solutions in the Power to Hydrogen(P2H)Roadmap显示文摘Power to hydrogen(P2H)provides a promising solution to the geographic mismatch between sources of renewable energy and the market,due to its technological maturity,flexibility,and the availability of technical and economic data from a range of active demonstration projects.In this review,we aim to provide an overview of the status of P2H,analyze its technical barriers and solutions,and propose potential opportunities for future research and industrial demonstrations.We specifically focus on the transport of hydrogen via natural gas pipeline networks and end-user purification.Strong evidence shows that an addition of about 10%hydrogen into natural gas pipelines has negligible effects on the pipelines and utilization appliances,and may therefore extend the asset value of the pipelines after natural gas is depleted.To obtain pure hydrogen from hydrogen-enriched natural gas(HENG)mixtures,end-user separation is inevitable,and can be achieved through membranes,adsorption,and other promising separation technologies.However,novel materials with high selectivity and capacity will be the key to the development of industrial processes,and an integrated membrane-adsorption process may be considered in order to produce high-purity hydrogen from HENG.It is also worth investigating the feasibility of electrochemical separation(hydrogen pumping)at a large scale and its energy analysis.Cryogenics may only be feasible when liquefied natural gas(LNG)is one of the major products.A range of other technological and operational barriers and opportunities,such as water availability,byproduct(oxygen)utilization,and environmental impacts,are also discussed.This review will advance readers’understanding of P2H and foster the development of the hydrogen economy.Guoping Hu Chao Chen Hiep Thuan Lu Yue Wu Congmin Liu Lefu Tao Yuhan Men Guangli He Kevin Gang Li 2020Engineering2020,6,12:7

5Global and regional trends in incidence and mortality of female breast cancer and associated factors at national level in 2000 to 2019显示文摘Background: Female breast cancer (FBC) has become the most prevalent malignancy worldwide. We aimed to evaluate the global and regional burden in epidemiological trends and factors associated with the incidence and mortality of FBC.Methods: FBC incidence and mortality in 60 selected countries by cancer registry data integrity in 2020 were estimated from the GLOBOCAN database, and their association with the human development index (HDI) was further evaluated. Trends of age-standardized rates of incidence and mortality in 60 countries from 2000 through 2019 were evaluated by joinpoint regression analysis using data of Global Burden of Disease 2019. The association between potential behavioral, metabolic, and socioeconomic risk factor exposure at the nation level retrieved from the World Bank and Global Health Observatory and the incidence and mortality of FBC were evaluated by multivariate linear regression.Results: FBC incidence and mortality varied greatly in the 60 included countries. Higher incidence and mortality rates were typically observed in countries with higher HDIs and vice versa. During 2000 to 2019, significantly increasing trends in incidence and mortality were observed in 26 (average annual percent changes [AAPCs], 0.35-2.96) and nine countries (AAPC, 0.30-1.65), respectively, while significantly decreasing trends in both incidence and mortality were observed in 22 countries, most of which were high-HDI countries. Among the population aged ≥40 years, there were 26 and 11 countries showing significantly increased trends in incidence and mortality, respectively. Ecological analysis showed that countries with higher prevalence rates of high cholesterol and higher health expenditures were more likely to have higher FBC incidence, and countries with higher rates of obesity and poorer universal health coverage were more likely to have higher FBC mortality.Conclusions: Despite decreased or stabilized FBC incidence and mortality rates were observed in some countries with high HDI over the past decades, disease burden became even severer in developing countries, especially for the population aged ≥40 years. 7The telomere-to-telomere genome of Fragaria vesca reveals the genomic evolution of Fragaria and the origin of cultivated octoploid strawberry显示文摘Fragaria vesca,commonly known as wild or woodland strawberry,is the most widely distributed diploid Fragaria species and is native to Europe and Asia.Because of its small plant size,low heterozygosity,and relative ease of genetic transformation,F.vesca has been a model plant for fruit research since the publication of its Illumina-based genome in 2011.However,its genomic contribution to octoploid cultivated strawberry remains a long-standing question.Here,we de novo assembled and annotated a telomere-to-telomere,gap-free genome of F.vesca‘Hawaii 4’,with all seven chromosomes assembled into single contigs,providing the highest completeness and assembly quality to date.The gap-free genome is 220785082 bp in length and encodes 36173 protein-coding gene models,including 1153 newly annotated genes.All 14 telomeres and seven centromeres were annotated within the seven chromosomes.Among the three previously recognized wild diploid strawberry ancestors,F.vesca,F.iinumae,and F.viridis,phylogenomic analysis showed that F.vesca and F.viridis are the ancestors of the cultivated octoploid strawberry F.×ananassa,and F.vesca is its closest relative.Three subgenomes of F.×ananassa belong to the F.vesca group,and one is sister to F.viridis.We anticipate that this high-quality,telomere-to-telomere,gap-free F.vesca genome,combined with our phylogenomic inference of the origin of cultivated strawberry,will provide insight into the genomic evolution of Fragaria and facilitate strawberry genetics and molecular breeding.Yuhan Zhou Jinsong Xiong Ziqiang Shu Chao Dong Tingting Gu Pengchuan Sun Shuang He Mian Jiang Zhiqiang Xia Jiayu Xue Wasi Ullah Khan Fei Chen Zong-Ming Cheng 2023Horticulture Research2023,10,4:4
81.3 GHz E-O bandwidth GaN-based micro-LED for multi-gigabit visible light communication显示文摘The data rate of a visible light communication(VLC) system is basically determined by the electrical-to-optical(E-O) bandwidth of its light-emitting diode(LED) source. In order to break through the intrinsic limitation of the carrier recombination rate on E-O bandwidth in conventional c-plane LEDs based on In Ga N quantum wells,a blue micro-LED with an active region of nano-structured In Ga N wetting layer is designed, fabricated, and packaged to realize a high-speed VLC system. The E-O bandwidth of the micro-LED can reach up to 1.3 GHz. Based on this high-speed micro-LED, we demonstrated a data rate of 2 Gbps with a bit error rate(BER) of 1.2×10^(-3) with simple on-off keying signal for a 3-m real-time VLC. In addition, a 4-Gbps VLC system using quadrature phase shift keying-orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing with a BER of 3.2×10^(-3) is also achieved for the same scenario. 9Efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in patients with acute myocardial infarction suffering from diabetes mellitus显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the 'real world' effectiveness of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) in patients with acute myocardial infarction suffering from diabetes mellitus(AMI+DM patients).METHODS: This was a retrospective cohort study.During hospitalization, the 'exposure group' was defined as patients who had a TCM injection for ≥ 7 d.During follow-up, the definition of the exposure group was application of a Chinese patent medicine or decoction of Chinese medicine for ≥ 28 d.General information(age, sex, contact details), TCM use and endpoint events of AMI+DM patients during hospitalization and follow-up were collected.The correlation between TCM and the end-point events of AMI + DM patients was analyzed using a multiple logistic regression method.RESULTS: A total of 479 AMI + DM patients were enrolled and 345 cases were followed up. During hospitalization, TCM, age, hypertension and use of an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor(ACEI)or angiotensin receptor blocker(ARB) were associated with cardiac death. During follow-up, TCM was associated with cardiac death. TCM was a relevant factor for a composite endpoint of re-infarction and stroke. TCM, anti-thrombotic therapy and lipid-lowering therapy were related to acute heart failure. 10Understanding the mechanistic regulation of ferroptosis in cancer:the gene matters显示文摘Ferroptosis has emerged as a crucial regulated cell death involved in a variety of physiological processes or pathological diseases,such as tumor suppression.Though initially being found from anticancer drug screening and considered not essential as apoptosis for growth and development,numerous studies have demonstrated that ferroptosis is tightly regulated by key genetic pathways and/or genes,including several tumor suppressors and oncogenes.In this review,we introduce the basic concepts of ferroptosis,characterized by the features of non-apoptotic,iron-dependent,and overwhelmed accumulation of lipid peroxides,and the underlying regulated circuits are considered to be pro-ferroptotic pathways.Then,we discuss several established lipid peroxidation defending systems within cells,including SLC7A11/GPX4,FSP1/CoQ,GCH1/BH4,and mitochondria DHODH/CoQ,all of which serve as anti-ferroptotic pathways to prevent ferroptosis.Moreover,we provide a comprehensive summary of the genetic regulation of ferroptosis via targeting the above-mentioned pro-ferroptotic or anti-ferroptotic pathways.The regulation of proand anti-ferroptotic pathways gives rise to more specific responses to the tumor cells in a contextdependent manner,highlighting the unceasing study and deeper understanding of mechanistic regulation of ferroptosis for the purpose of applying ferroptosis induction in cancer therapy.Min Gao Kexin Fan Yuhan Chen Guangjian Zhang Jing Chen Yilei Zhang 2022Journal of Genetics and Genomics2022,49,10:3
11Nuclear UHRF1 is a gate-keeper of cellular AMPK activity and function显示文摘The AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK)is a central regulator of energy homeostasis.Although much has been learned on how low energy status and glucose starvation activate AMPK,how AMPK activity is properly controlled in vivo is still poorly understood.Here we report that UHRF1,an epigenetic regulator highly expressed in proliferating and cancer cells,interacts with AMPK and serves to suppress AMPK activity under both basal and stressed conditions.As a nuclear protein,UHRF1 promotes AMPK nuclear retention and strongly suppresses nuclear AMPK activity toward substrates H2B and EZH2.Importantly,we demonstrate that UHRF1 also robustly inhibits AMPK activity in the cytoplasm compartment,most likely as a consequence of AMPK nucleocytoplasmic shuttling.Mechanistically,we found that UHRF1 has no obvious effect on AMPK activation by upstream kinases LKB1 and CAMKK2 but inhibits AMPK activity by acting as a bridging factor targeting phosphatase PP2A to dephosphorylate AMPK.Hepatic overexpression of UHRF1 showed profound effects on glucose and lipid metabolism in wild-type mice but not in those with the liver-specific knockout of AMPKα1/α2,whereas knockdown of UHRF1 in adipose tissue led to AMPK activation and reduced sizes of adipocytes and lipogenic activity,highlighting the physiological significance of this regulation in glucose and lipid metabolism.Thus,our study identifies UHRF1 as a novel AMPK gate-keeper with critical roles in cellular metabolism.Xiang Xu Guangjin Ding Caizhi Liu Yuhan Ding Xiaoxin Chen Xiaoli Huang Chen-Song Zhang Shanxin Lu Yunpeng Zhang Yuanyong Huang Zhaosu Chen Wei Wei Lujian Liao Shu-Hai Lin Jingya Li Wei Liu Jiwen Li Sheng-Cai Lin Xinran Ma Jiemin Wong 2022Cell Research2022,32,1:3
12The novel ER stress inducer Sec C triggers apoptosis by sulfating ER cysteine residues and degrading YAP via ER stress in pancreatic cancer cells显示文摘Pancreatic adenocarcinoma(PAAD) is one of the most lethal malignancies. Although gemcitabine(GEM) is a standard treatment for PAAD, resistance limits its application and therapy. Secoemestrin C(Sec C) is a natural compound from the endophytic fungus Emericella, and its anticancer activity has not been investigated since it was isolated. Our research is the first to indicate that Sec C is a broad-spectrum anticancer agent and could exhibit potently similar anticancer activity both in GEM-resistant and GEM-sensitive PAAD cells. Interestingly, Sec C exerted a rapid growth-inhibiting effect(80% death at 6 h), which might be beneficial for patients who need rapid tumor shrinkage before surgery. Liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry and N-acetyl-L-cysteine(NAC) reverse assays show that Sec C sulfates cysteines to disrupt disulfide-bonds formation in endoplasmic reticulum(ER) proteins to cause protein misfolding, leading to ER stress and disorder of lipid biosynthesis. Microarray data and subsequent assays show that ER stress-mediated ER-associated degradation(ERAD) ubiquitinates anddownregulates YAP to enhance ER stress via destruction complex(YAP-Axin-GSK-βTr CP), which also elucidates a unique degrading style for YAP. 14Numerical investigation of plane Couette flow with weak spanwise rotation显示文摘Direct numerical simulation of rotating plane Couette flow(RPCF) at Re_w= 1300 and Ro = 0.02 was performed with different mesh resolutions and different sizes of computation domain. Our results showed that a grid resolution in wall units with ?x^+=8.51, ?z^+= 4.26, ?y^+|_(min)= 0.0873 and ?y^+|_(max)= 3.89 is fine enough to simulate the problem at the present parameters. The streamwise length Lxand spanwise length Lzof the computational box have different impacts on the flow statistics, where the statistics were converged if Lxis longer than 8πh, while no converged results were obtained for different Lz. More importantly,our results with very long simulation time showed that a state transition would happen if L_x≥ 8πh, from a state with four pairs of roll cells to a state with three pairs of roll cells with L_z= 6πh. 16Understanding the efficient microwave absorption for Fe Co@ZnO flakes at elevated temperatures a combined experimental and theoretical approach显示文摘Considerable microwave absorption performance at elevated temperatures is highly demanded in both civil and military fields.Single dielectric or magnetic absorbers are difficult to attain efficient and broadband microwave absorption at the high temperature range of 373 K-573 K,and the evolution mechanism of the microwave absorption is still unclear especially for the magnetic absorbers.Herein,ZnO coated flaky-FeCo composite is proposed to break through the bottleneck,which possesses microwave absorption(RL<-10 dB)that covering the whole X band(8.2 GHz-12.4 GHz)at the temperature range of 298 K-573 K with a thickness of only~2 mm.Moreover,attenuation mechanism and evolution of the microwave absorption properties for the FeCo@ZnO flaky material at elevated temperature has been clearly disclosed by the composition and microstructure characterizations,electromagnetic performance measurements and first principles calculations for the first time.Moreover,the Poynting vector,volume loss density,magnetic field(H)and electric field(E)are simulated by HFSS to understand the interaction between EM waves and the samples at different temperatures,further elaborating the attenuation mechanism in high-temperature environment.This study provides guidance in designing and developing high-temperature microwave absorbers for the next generation.Kangsen Peng Chuyang Liu Yuhan Wu Gang Fang Guoyue Xu Yujing Zhang Chen Wu Mi Yan 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,30:2

19Vertical Profiles of Volatile Organic Compounds in Suburban Shanghai显示文摘As Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs)are one of the precursors of ozone,their distribution and variable concentrations are highly related to local ozone pollution control.In this study,we obtained vertical profiles of VOCs in Shanghai’s Jinshan district on 8 September and 9 September in 2016 to investigate their distribution and impact on local atmospheric oxidation in the near surface layer.Vertical samples were collected from heights between 50 m and 400 m by summa canisters using an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV).Concentrations of VOCs(VOCs refers to the 52 species measured in this study)varied minimally below 200 m,and decreased by 21.2%from 100 m to 400 m.The concentrations of VOCs above 200 m decreased significantly in comparison to those below 200 m.The proportions of alkanes and aromatics increased from 55.2%and 30.5%to 57.3%and 33.0%,respectively.Additionally,the proportion of alkenes decreased from 13.2%to 8.4%.Toluene and m/p-xylene were the key species in the formation of SOA and ozone.Principal component analysis(PCA)revealed that the VOCs measured in this study mainly originated from industrial emissions.Yuhan LIU Hongli WANG Shengao JING Ming ZHOU Shenrong LOU Kun QU Wanyi QIU Qian WANG Shule LI Yaqin GAO Yusi LIU Xiaobing LI Zhong-Ren PENG Junhui CHEN Keding LU 2021Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,7:1
20Analysis of the Drug Sensitivity of Escherichia coli Isolated from Sheep in Yangling,Shaanxi Province显示文摘This study was conducted to investigate the drug sensitivity of Escherichia coli isolated from sheep,providing data reference for clinical medication. Fifty-four samples were collected from a certain sheep farm in Yangling,Shaanxi Province for E. coli isolation and identification,and K-B disk diffusion method was used to carry out the dug sensitivity test of 40 E. coli to the eight antimicrobials of spectinomycin,amikacin,tobramycin,enrofloxacin,nalidixic acid,levofloxacin,salafloxacin and ciprofloxacin. The results showed that there were 40 positive E. coli strains and the isolation rate was 74. 7%. The resistance rates of the 40 E. coli to spectinomycin,amikacin,tobramycin and nalidixic acid were 85%,95%,97. 5% and 87. 5%,respectively,while the resistance rate to enrofloxacin,levofloxacin,salafloxacin and ciprofloxacin were relatively low and the resistance rates were 35%,20%,25% and 17. 5%,respectively. The isolates showed different levels of drug resistance to eight antimicrobials and the highest resistance rate was 97. 5%.
