New eolian red clay sequence on the western Chinese Loess Plateau linked to onset of Asian desertification about 25 Ma ago显示文摘The expansion of inland Asia deserts has considerably influenced the environmental, social and economic activities in Asia. Aridification of inland Asia, especially timing of the initiation of Asian desertification, is a contentious topic in paleoclimatology. Late Cenozoic eolian loess-red clay sequences on the Chinese Loess Plateau, which possess abundant paleoclimatic and paleo-environmental information, can be regarded as an indicator of inland Asia desertification. Here we present a detailed magnetostratigraphic investigation of a new red clay sequence about 654 m in Zhuanglang located at the western Chinese Loess Plateau. Sedimentological, geochemical, mineralogical, and quartz morphological lines of evidence show that the red clay is of eolian origin. Magnetostratigraphic correlations indicate that this core sequence spans from 25.6 to 4.8 Ma, and typical eolian red clay appears as early as 25 Ma. This extends the lower limit of the red clay on the Chinese Loess Plateau from the previously thought early Miocene back into the late Oligocene. This new red clay record further implies that the inland Asia desertification was initiated at least by the late Oligocene. This sequence provides a unique high-resolution geological record for understanding the inland Asia desertification process since the late Oligocene.QIANG XiaoKe AN ZhiSheng SONG YouGui CHANG Hong SUN YouBin LIU WeiGuo AO Hong DONG JiBao FU ChaoFeng WU Feng LU FengYan CAI YanJun ZHOU WeiJian CAO JunJi XU XinWen AI Li 2011Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,1:73
Evaluation of soil fertility of the shelter-forest land along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘To study the changes of soil fertility of the shelter-forest land along the Tarim Desert Highway, soils from the forest land were collected at the layers of 0―10 cm, 10―20 cm, 20―30 cm. Different soil fertility parameters were measured, and quantitative evaluation of soil fertility was performed by the soil integrated fertility index (IFI). The main results show that the construction of the shelter forest along the Tarim Desert Highway improved the soil physical structure, increased soil porosity and enhanced wa- ter-holding capacity. With the increase of plantation time of the shelter forest, soil microbial biomass C, N, P and the activities of six types of enzyme were enhanced, which promoted the accumulation and transformation of soil nutrients of the forest land. Consequently, the soil nutrients in 12-year-old forest land were much higher than in the newer ones and drifting sand. However, soil salt content of the older forest land was higher owing to the drip-irrigation with salt water. Through the comprehensive evalua- tion, we found that soil fertility index in the forest land was enhanced with the forest age, and it had close correlations with the growth indices of the forest trees. In summary, construction of the shelterforest along the Tarim Desert Highway accelerated the improvement of aeolian soil in the forest land, and the soil fertility improved year by year. We conclude that the forest trees grow normally under the stress of the present drip-irrigation with salt water.JIN ZhengZhong LEI JiaQiang XU XinWen LI ShengYu ZHAO SiFeng QIU YongZhi XU Bo 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2:18

Effects of natural covers on soil evaporation of the shelterbelt along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘The control of soil evaporation is one of important approaches to save water. The artificially simulated evaporation experiments have been conducted in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert to reveal the effects of the natural covers on the soil evaporation of the Tarim Desert Highway shelterbelt as well as provide some insights in the efficient utilization of water resources and optimization of irrigation systems. The results showed that (1) All the covers, including the sand deposit, the salt crust, the litter, the sand-litter mixed layer and so on, can significantly inhibit the soil water evaporation. Specifically, the daily evaporation, the total evaporation, and the evaporation rate in covered sands were much smaller than that of sands without cover. The cover inhibition effects increased with the cover thickness. Particularly, the soil evaporation of the covered sands was less affected by external and internal factors than that of the bare sands. Moreover, the variation of daily evaporation of covered sands was smaller than that of bare sands. The cumulative evaporation varied linearly with time in the covered sands whereas it varied logarithmically in the bare sands. In addition, the soil evaporation in the bare sands showed significantly different characteristics in the early and late stages of the evaporation. (2) All the covers exhibited the significant inhibiting effect on the soil evaporation, and the inhibition efficiency increased logarithmically with the cover thickness. However, as the cover thickness was above a certain value, the increase in the inhibition efficiency was slow. Particularly, at a cover thickness of 2 cm, there was no obvious difference in the inhibition efficiency among all kinds of covers. The maximum inhibition efficiency as calculated from the daily evaporation on the first day of irrigation was: sand-litter mixed layer (79.92%) > litter layer (78.96%) > salt crust (75.58%) > sand bed (74.11%), whereas the average inhibiting efficiency as calculated from the cumulative soil evaporation at the end of an irrigation cycle (the fourth day) was: salt crust (67.78%) > sand-litter mixed layer (66.72%) > sand deposit (63.28%) > litter layer (61.74%).ZHOU HongWei LI ShengYu SUN ShuGuo XU XinWen LEI JiaQiang LIU Shang DU WenYi YAN Zeng WANG YongChang 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2:11
The salt accumulation at the shifting aeolian sandy soil surface with high salinity groundwater drip irrigation in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert显示文摘The EC analysis and water serial sampling was performed in the Tarim Desert Highway shelterbelt to explore the water and salt dynamics of the shallow aeolian sandy soil ( 0-30cm) under high salinity groundwater drip irrigation. It was found that in one irrigation cycle, the EC of the shallow shifting aeolian sandy soil ( 0-30cm) increased while the water content decreased. The EC of the surface aeolian sandy soil at the wetting front was far greater than that of the wetting area or the outside of the wetting area. During the irrigation cycle, the EC of the wetting front and the wetting area changed at a significant magnitude, whereas the EC of the outside of the wetting area remained largely steady. The horizontal influence distance of drip irrigation on the salt accumulation at the soil surface was about 100 cm, and the vertical influence depth was 5 cm. The three most abundant ions in the accumulated salt at the aeolian sandy soil surface were Na+, Cl- and SO42-. The salt accumulation at the soil surface was influenced by air temperature, wind speed, mineralization of irrigation water, sand burial thickness, soil texture, and litter content.ZHANG JianGuo XU XinWen LEI JiaQiang SUN ShuGuo FAN JingLong LI ShengYu GU Feng QIU YongZhi XU Bo 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2:10
Damage by wind-blown sand and its control measures along the Taklimakan Desert Highway in China显示文摘Desertification is one of the most serious environmental problems in the world, especially in the arid desert regions.Combating desertification, therefore,is an urgent task on a regional or even global scale. The Taklimakan Desert in China is the second largest mobile desert in the world and has been called the''Dead Sea''due to few organisms can exist in such a harsh environment. The Taklimakan Desert Highway, the longest desert highway(a total length of 446 km)across the mobile desert in the world, was built in the 1990s within the Taklimakan Desert. It has an important strategic significance regarding oil and gas resources exploration and plays a vital role in the socio-economic development of southern Xinjiang,China.However,wind-blow sand seriously damages the smoothness of the desert highway and,in this case, mechanical sand control system(including sand barrier fences and straw checkerboards)was used early in the life of the desert highway to protect the road.Unfortunately, more than 70%of the sand barrier fences and straw checkerboards have lost their functions, and the desert highway has often been buried and frequently blocked since 1999.To solve this problem,a long artificial shelterbelt with the length of 437 km was built along the desert highway since 2000.However,some potential problems still exist for the sustainable development of the desert highway, such as water shortage, strong sandstorms, extreme environmental characteristics and large maintenance costs. The study aims to provide an overview of the damages caused by wind-blown sand and the effects of sand control measures along the Taklimakan Desert Highway.Ultimately,we provide some suggestions for the biological sand control system to ensure the sustainable development of the Taklimakan Desert Highway, such as screening drought-resistant species to reduce the irrigation requirement and ensure the sound development of groundwater, screening halophytes to restore vegetation in the case of soil salinization, and planting cash crops, such as Cistanche,Wolfberry,Apocynum and other cash crops to decrease the high cost of maintenance on highways and shelterbelts.LI Congjuan WANG Yongdong LEI Jiaqiang XU Xinwen WANG Shijie FAN Jinglong LI Shengyu 2021Journal of Arid Land2021,13,1:9
Ecological stability of Tarim Desert Highway shelterbelt显示文摘The Tarim Desert Highway shelterbelt, located in hinterland of Taklimakan Desert, is irrigated by underground saline water, with three to thirty gram per litter mineral degrees. The sustain-ability and stability are affected by multifarious stress. The structural and functional characteristics of shelterbelt are studied to probe into correlation between environment and shelterbelt. On basis, decision analysis is applied to study ecological stability of the Tarim Desert Highway shelterbelt, to screen out limited factors, to establish general index system, and to evaluate the stability of the shelterbelt nowadays. Finally, the concept of ecological stability is utilized to manage the artificial ecosystem. The results show that the artificial ecosystem is relatively flimsy, whose stability can be increased by adjusting stand structure and improving the nutrient cycle.ZHOU Zhibin XU Xinwen LEI Jiaqiang LI Shengyu 2006Chinese Science Bulletin2006,51,A01:8
The modified temperature term on Johnson-Cook constitutive model of AZ31 magnesium alloy with {0002} texture显示文摘The dynamic compression experiments with Split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar(SHPB)were performed on AZ31 magnesium alloy rolled sheet specimens in the normal direction(AZ31-ND)with{0002}texture at the temperature of 293-523 K and the strain rate of 0.001-2200 s^−1.The temperature term in Johnson-Cook(JC)constitutive model had been reasonably modified. This advantage made constitutive model promising for decribing the dynamic deformation behavior of AZ31-ND with{0002}texture more accurately. The obtained true stress-true plastic strain curves agreed well with the measured results in a wide range of strain rates and temperatures. The thermal softeninging, strain and strain rate hardening effect on the AZ31-ND with{0002}texture were discussed. The adiabatic shear band(ASB)of AZ31-ND with{0002}texture hat shaped specimen was successfully predicted by combining modified JC constitutive model and numerical simulation, which was also validated by Electron Back-Scattered Diffraction(EBSD)map under the same boundary condition.Feng Zhang Zheng Liu Yue Wang Pingli Mao Xinwen Kuang Zhenglai Zhang Yingdong Ju Xiaozhong Xu 2020Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2020,8,1:8
The effect of salt stress on the chlorophyll level of the main sand-binding plants in the shelterbelt along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘Based on the fact that only high saline water irrigated to the shelterbelt along the Tarim Desert Highway, the experiment about three species with six degree of salinity was carried out to analyze the relation between chlorophyll content and salt stress. The results show that: (1) the chlorophyll content of tree species decreases with aggravating the salt stress, which explains that salt stress can affect chlorophyll accumulation of three plants; (2) from chlorophyll content with different salinity, the chlorophyll content of three shrubs also has twice obvious decrease, which indicates that some plants adapt to salt stress. We divided salt resistance of the plant into three grades, namely the slight salt resistance, the heavy salt resistance and the extreme salt resistance; and (3) according to the experimental results, the salt stress of each plant was divided, which can provide theoretical guidance for constructing the shelterbelt along the Tarim Desert Highway.XU XinWen XU HaiLiang WANG YanLing WANG XiaoJing QIU YongZhi XU Bo 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2:7
A Case of Hepatitis B Reactivation due to the Hepatitis B Virus Escape Mutant in a Patient undergoing Chemotherapy显示文摘A 62-year-old man had chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. At the time of diagnosis the patient's virologic markers were positive for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg),antibody to hepatitis B e antigen (anti-HBe) and antibody to hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc),while antibody to hepatitis B surface antigen (anti-HBs) and HBV DNA were negative.Later the patient received chemotherapy for malignancy. However, this was interrupted due to elevated liver enzymes. At the same time HBV DNA became positive.Lamivudine (LMV) therapy was administered immediately. However, the levels of serum aminotransferase and total bilirubin (TB) were still rising. Finally the patient died of fulminant hepatic failure.A sequence revealed HBV genotype C (HBsAg subtype adw) with immune escape mutations,F8L,S34L,F41S,G44V,F93C,V96G,L110I,C149Y and F161Y.The high morbidity and mortality of this complication is one of the major obstacles to completing the standard treatment for malignancy in HBV carriers. Therefore, the relative risk of antiviral prophylactic failure should be further assessed and the optimal strategy for antiviral prophylaxis in HBsAg-positive patients with oncologic and hematologic malignancies undergoing chemotherapy should be revised.Chunchen Wu Hui Shi Yun Wang Mengji LU Yang Xu Xinwen Chen 2012Virologica Sinica2012,27,6:7

Site type classification for the shelter-forest ecological project along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘Site types of the afforestation region of the shelter-forest ecological project along the Tarim Desert Highway were classified based on the natural conditions and windblown sand damages. The extremely severe environment, the irrigation with saline water, and large-scale linear project makes this classification of site types most unique and significant. It adopted a three-level classification system integrating the dominant factors and restrictive factors in regard to their impacts on plant survival and growth as well as on the protective property. Six site type districts were classified based on the medium-scale geomorphic unit, the windblown sand damages, and the major production facilities; 21 site type groups were obtained according to the small-scale geomorphic type, terrain, and wind regime; 36 site types were further classified based on the salt contents of the underground water and soil types. Especially, in this study, spatial distribution of the six site type districts along the desert highway is continuous, which is unique and different from that of most other classifications. In addition, the salt-stress tolerance threshold of the main afforestation plant species to underground water have been set to 8 g/L and 15 g/L according to selective breeding tests and the salinity spatial distribution of the underground water. Thus, the underground water with salinity lower than 8 g/L is defined as light saline water in this area.LI BingWen XU XinWen LEI JiaQiang QIU YongZhi XU Bo ZHOU HongWei WANG Qiang WANG BO SU Wei 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2:6
The temporal and spatial fluctuation of the groundwater level along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘In this work, a groundwater monitor section along the Tarim Desert Highway was set up, and the groundwater level data were recorded. The temporal and spatial fluctuations of the groundwater level were analyzed based on the groundwater level measurements, hydrologic data, the groundwater/surface water interconversion theory and the groundwater dynamics. The spatial distribution of groundwater is mostly affected by sand dune height and landform variation. The four primary temporal influence factors of groundwater level can be ordered in decreasing significance as: shelterbelt pumping > vertical leakage > river flow change > runoff replenishment. The runoff replenishment has the biggest influence range, and the shelterbelt pumping has the smallest influence range. The groundwater level fluctuates annually in a natural pattern.FAN JingLong XU XinWen LEI JaQiang ZHAO JingFeng LI ShengYu WANG HaiFeng ZHANG JianGuo ZHOU HongWei 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2:6
Topographical changes of ground surface affected by the shelterbelt along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘To study the effects of sand protection project on modern aeolian landform, the types, distribution, and intensity of topographical changes of the ground surface affected by the shelterbelt along the Tarim Desert Highway were determined by measuring the deflation and deposition of sand surface in the Tazhong area located in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert. The results showed that (1) the newly-formed landform in sand protection systems is dominated by aeolian deposition including the small-scale Nabkha Dunes, the medium-scale sheet-like sand deposition and the large-scale ridge-like sand deposition. To some degree, aeolian deflation landform can also be formed in the open space in the shelterbelt. Furthermore, it is difficult for aeolian deflation landform to develop in a large scale in the interdunes. However, aeolian deflation landform can be developed in a large-scale on the windward slope of secondary dunes in longitudinal complex sand ridges; (2) on the windward side of the sand protection systems, both the morphology and strike of dwarf mobile dunes in the interdunes are changed by the sand-obstructing forest belts and the ridge-like sand deposition around it. The wind- ward slope of the ridge-like deposition around the sand-obstructing forest belt forms a stable ground surface. After being damaged by forward-moving dunes in a short period, the ground surface is re- covered gradually; (3) on the leeward side of the sand protection systems, aeolian deflations are formed widely. Particularly, the deflation depression is formed in the interdunes. In addition, the dunes in the region with highly topographic relief are cut flat by aeolian deflations; thereafter its relief of to- pography is reduced. The above analysis indicates that shelterbelts have obvious effects on the windward wind-sand flux in terms of dissipating energy and intercepting sand. With the recovery of wind velocity on the leeward side of the sand protection systems, the wind-sand flux gradually tends to be unsaturated; therefore the sand surface deflation is formed.LI ShengYu LEI JiaQiang XU XinWen WANG HaiFeng FAN JingLong GU Feng QIU YongZhi XU Bo GONG Qing ZHENG Wei 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2:4
Complementation of Wild-Type and Drug-Resistant Hepatitis B Virus Genomes to Maintain Viral Replication and Rescue Virion Production under Nucleos(t)ide Analogs显示文摘As the open reading frames of hepatitis B virus(HBV)genomes are overlapping, resistance mutations(MTs)in HBV polymerase may result in stop codon MTs in hepatitis B surface proteins, which are usually detected as a mixed population with wild-type(WT)HBV.The question was raised how the coexistence of nucleos(t)ide analogs(NAs)resistance MTs and WT sequences affects HBV replication. In the present study,HBV genomes with frequently detected reverse transcriptase(RT)/surface truncation MTs,rtA181T/sW172^*,rtV191I/sW182^*and rtM204I/sW196^*,were phenotypically characterized alone or together with their WT counterparts in different ratios by transient transfection in the absence or presence of Nas.In the absence of Nas,RT/surface truncation MTs impaired the expression and secretion of HBV surface proteins, and had a dose-dependent negative effect on WT HBV virion secretion. However,in the presence of Nas,coexistence of MTs with WT maintained viral replication, and the presence of WT was able to rescue the production of MT HBV virions. Our findings reveal that complementation of WT and MT HBV genomes is highly effective under drug treatment.Chunchen Wu Baolin Li Xiaoyong Zhang Kaitao Zhao Yingshan Chen Yifei Yuan Yan Liu Rongjuan Chen Dongping Xu Xinwen Chen Mengji Lu 2019Virologica Sinica2019,34,4:4
Grain size characteristics of surface sediment and its response to the dynamic sedimentary environment in Qiantang Estuary, China显示文摘The composition and grain size characteristics of sediment in estuarine and coastal environments provide important information on the material source, hydrodynamic environment, environmental events, etc. However, few studies have focused on the sediment characteristics of the entire Qiantang Estuary, particularly, on the correlation between hydrodynamics and sediment properties. Through systematic sampling of the surface sediment in a large area of the Qiantang Estuary, the spatial distribution characteristics of the surface sediment of the Qiantang Estuary, such as the grain size composition and particle size parameters, in different sections of the estuary area are analyzed. By comparing the particle size data of different estuaries, the similarities and differences of the particle size parameters of the Qiantang Estuary and other estuaries are compared and analyzed. According to the differences in the sediment composition, the distribution status of the particle size frequency curves and the morphological characteristics of the probability curves in the entire study area, the Qiantang Estuary is divided into 7 dynamic depositional areas: Fuchunjiang Hydropower Station-Fuyang, Fuyang-Qibao, Qibao-Cao’e River, Cao’e River-Zhapu, North Shore of Hangzhou Bay, middle part of Hangzhou Bay, and South Shore of Hangzhou Bay, which are different from the previous estuary segmentation system. The study area is divided into 13 dynamic depositional sub-regions using the Pejrup M triangle diagram. Combining the calculation results of the mathematical model and the Pejrup M triangle diagram, the relation between the dynamic deposition environment and the bottom shear stress is discussed. It is found that the spatial distribution of the bottom shear stress in the study area is in good agreement with the zoning of the dynamic sedimentary environment.Shanshan Wang Cunhong Pan Dongfeng Xie Mingwei Xu Yuhan Yan Xinwen Li 2022International Journal of Sediment Research2022,37,4:3
Rapid generation of ACE2 humanized inbred mouse model for COVID-19 with tetraploid complementation显示文摘Although monkeys and pigs can be infected with SARS-Co V-2,they generally have a long growth cycle and a large size that is difficult to handle in large quantities. However, the readily available rats and mice are not susceptible to SARSCo V-2 because of differences in ACE2(angiotensin-converting enzyme 2),the receptor mediating cell entry of SARSCo V-2[1].Thus,the key to establishing a mouse model of COVID-19 is to make the mice express human ACE2 protein, and therefore become SARS-Co V-2 susceptible.Recently reported COVID-19 mouse models using a random insertion transgene approach[2,3]or adenoviral approach to express h ACE2[4],lack the tissue-specificity of h ACE2 expression and might not replicate COVID-19 precisely, limiting their applications in certain studies.Feng-Liang Liu Kaixin Wu Jiaoyang Sun Zilei Duan Xiongzhi Quan Junqi Kuang Shilong Chu Wei Pang Han Gao Ling Xu Ying-Chang Li Hai-Lin Zhang Xue-Hui ang Rong-Hua Luo Xiao-Li Feng Hans RScholer Xinwen Chen Duanqing Pei Guangming Wu Yong-Tang Zheng Jiekai Chen 2021National Science Review2021,8,2:3
Theoretical analysis of the limiting rate of phreatic evaporation for aeolian sandy soil in Taklimakan Desert显示文摘Phreatic evaporation is a great lose for shallow groundwater in the Taklimakan Desert. Given soil type and groundwater table, the limiting rate of phreatic evaporation is defined as the maximum of water transferred from groundwater to soil surface per unit time, which is a key parameter and control condition for phreatic evaporation model developing. The soil water characteristic curve for the aeolian sandy soil in the Taklimakan Desert was fitted with the least square method based on the formula of soil moisture characteristics curve proposed by Van Genuchten, using observed soil moisture and soil water suction data. The unsaturated hydraulic conductivity was determined by the instantaneous profile method in situ and the calculation formula for unsaturated hydraulic conductivity was established. According to the steady flow theory, the quasi-analytical solution of limiting rate of phreatic evaporation was derived on the basis of generalization of the formula of unsaturated hydraulic conductivity. The results show that the soil moisture characteristics in the Taklimakan Desert can be well described by Van Genuchten’s formula, and the limiting rate of phreatic evaporation declines by power function with the descending of groundwater table.HU ShunJun LEI JiaQiang XU XinWen SONG YuDong TIAN ChangYan CHEN XiaoBin LI XiuChang 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2:2
Host HDAC4 regulates the antiviral response by inhibiting the phosphorylation of IRF3显示文摘Class II HDACs, such as HDAC4, are critical regulators of the immune response in various immune cells;however, its role in innate immunity remains largely unknown. Here, we report that the overexpression of HDAC4 suppresses the production of type I interferons triggered by pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs). HDAC4 repressed the translocation of transcription factor IRF3 to the nucleus, thereby decreasing IRF3-mediated IFN-β expression. In particular, we also determined that HDAC4 can be phosphorylated and simultaneously block the phosphorylation of IRF3 at Ser386 and Ser396 by TBK1 and IKKε, respectively, by interacting with the kinase domain of TBK1 and IKKε. Furthermore, IFN-β may stimulate the expression of HDAC4. Our findings suggest that HDAC4 acts as a regulator of PRR signaling and is a novel mechanism of negative feedback regulation for preventing an overreactive innate immune response.Qi Yang Jielin Tang Rongjuan Pei XiaoXiao Gao Jing Guo Chonghui Xu Yun Wang QianWang Chunchen Wu Yuan Zhou Xue Hu He Zhao Yanyi Wang Xinwen Chen Jizheng Chen 2019Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2019,11,2:2
DEM simulation of particle flow and separation in a vibrating flip-flow screen显示文摘Vibrating flip-flow screens(VFFS)with stretchable polyurethane sieve mats have been widely used in screening fine-grained materials in recent years. In this work, the discrete element method(DEM)is used to study the screening process in VFFS to explain particle flow and separation behavior at the particle scale.Unlike traditional vibrating screens, for VFFS,the amplitude response of each point on the elastic sieve mat is different everywhere. This study measures the kinematics of the elastic sieve mat under different conditions such as different stretched lengths and material loads. To establish the elastic sieve mat model in a DEM simulation, the continuous elastic sieve mat is discretized into multiple units, and the displacement signal of each unit tested is analyzed by Fourier series. The Fourier series analysis results of each unit are used as the setting parameters for motion. In this way,the movement of the elastic sieve mat is approximately simulated, and a DEM model of VFFS is produced.Through the simulation, the flow and separation of different-sized particles in VFFS are studied, and the reasonability of the simulation is verified by a pilot-scale screening experiment. The present study demonstrates the potential of the DEM method for the analysis of screening processes in VFFS.Chi Yu Dongdong Lin Ningning Xu Xinwen Wang Kunwei Pu Zhenghao Wang Guofeng Zhao Runhui Geng Sanpeng Gong 2023Particuology2023,,2:2
