| 2 | Production of laccase by Coriolus versicolor and its application in decolorization of dyestuffs: (Ⅱ) Decolorization of dyes by laccase containing fermentation broth with or without self-immobilized mycelia显示文摘The capability of decolorization for commercial dyes by Coriolus versicolor fermentation broth containing laccase with or without immobilized mycelium was evaluated. With cell free fermentation broth containing laccase, high decolorization ratio was achieved for acid orange 7, but not for the other dyes concerned. The immobilized mycelium was proved to be more efficient than the cell free system. All the four dyestuffs studied were found being decolourized with certain extent by immobilized mycelium. The repeated batch decolorization was carried out with satisfactory results. The experimental data showed that the continuous decolorization of wastewater from a printing and dyeing industry was possible by using the self immobilized C. | 9 | Clinical diagnosis of severe COVID-19:A derivation and validation of a prediction rule显示文摘BACKGROUND The widespread coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has led to high morbidity and mortality.Therefore,early risk identification of critically ill patients remains crucial.AIM To develop predictive rules at the time of admission to identify COVID-19 patients who might require intensive care unit(ICU)care.METHODS This retrospective study included a total of 361 patients with confirmed COVID-19 by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction between January 19,2020,and March 14,2020 in Shenzhen Third People’s Hospital.Multivariate logistic regression was applied to develop the predictive model.The performance of the predictive model was externally validated and evaluated based on a dataset involving 126 patients from the Wuhan Asia General Hospital between December 2019 and March 2020,by area under the receiver operating curve(AUROC),goodness-of-fit and the performance matrix including the sensitivity,specificity,and precision.A nomogram was also used to visualize the model.RESULTS Among the patients in the derivation and validation datasets,38 and 9 participants(10.5%and 2.54%,respectively)developed severe COVID-19,respectively.In univariate analysis,21 parameters such as age,sex(male),smoker,body mass index(BMI),time from onset to admission(>5 d),asthenia,dry cough,expectoration,shortness of breath,asthenia,and Rox index<18(pulse oxygen saturation,SpO2)/(FiO2×respiratory rate,RR)showed positive correlations with severe COVID-19.In multivariate logistic regression analysis,only six parameters including BMI[odds ratio(OR)3.939;95%confidence interval(CI):1.409-11.015;P=0.009],time from onset to admission(≥5 d)(OR 7.107;95%CI:1.449-34.849;P=0.016),fever(OR 6.794;95%CI:1.401-32.951;P=0.017),Charlson index(OR 2.917;95%CI:1.279-6.654;P=0.011),PaO2/FiO2 ratio(OR 17.570;95%CI:1.117-276.383;P=0.041),and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio(OR 3.574;95%CI:1.048-12.191;P=0.042)were found to be independent predictors of COVID-19.These factors were found to be significant risk factors for severe patients confirmed with COVID-19.The AUROC was 0.941(95%CI:0.901-0.981)and 0.936(95%CI:0.886-0.987)in both datasets.The calibration properties were good.CONCLUSION The proposed predictive model had great potential in severity prediction of COVID-19 in the ICU.It assisted the ICU clinicians in making timely decisions for the target population. | Ming Tang Xia-Xia Yu Jia Huang Jun-Ling Gao Fu-Lan Cen Qi Xiao Shou-Zhi Fu Yang Yang Bo Xiong Yong-Jun Pan Ying-Xia Liu Yong-Wen Feng Jin-Xiu Li Yong Liu | 2021 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2021,9,13: | 1 |
| 10 | Optoelectronic parametric oscillator显示文摘Oscillators are one of the key elements in various applications as a signal source to generate periodic oscillations.Among them,an optical parametric oscillator(OPO)is a driven harmonic oscillator based on parametric frequency conversion in an optical cavity,which has been widely investigated as a coherent light source with an extremely wide wavelength tuning range.However,steady oscillation in an OPO is confined by the cavity delay,which leads to difficulty in frequency tuning,and the frequency tuning is discrete with the minimum tuning step determined by the cavity delay.Here,we propose and demonstrate a counterpart of an OPO in the optoelectronic domain,i.e.,an optoelectronic parametric oscillator(OEPO)based on parametric frequency conversion in an optoelectronic cavity to generate microwave signals.Owing to the unique energy-transition process in the optoelectronic cavity,the phase evolution in the OEPO is not linear,leading to steady single-mode oscillation or multimode oscillation that is not bounded by the cavity delay.Furthermore,the multimode oscillation in the OEPO is stable and easy to realize owing to the phase control of the parametric frequency-conversion process in the optoelectronic cavity,while stable multimode oscillation is difficult to achieve in conventional oscillators such as an optoelectronic oscillator(OEO)or an OPO due to the mode-hopping and mode-competition effect.The proposed OEPO has great potential in applications such as microwave signal generation,oscillator-based computation,and radio-frequency phase-stable transfer. | Tengfei Hao Qizhuang Cen Shanhong Guan Wei Li Yitang Dai Ninghua Zhu Ming Li | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1: | 1 |

| 16 | Observation of parity-time symmetry in time-division multiplexing pulsed optoelectronic oscillators within a single resonator显示文摘In recent years,parity-time(PT)symmetry in optoelectronic systems has been widely studied,due to its potential applications in lasers,sensors,topological networks,and other fields.In this paper,a time-division multiplexed pulsed optoelectronic oscillator(OEO)is proposed to study the dynamics of a PT symmetry system.Two microwave pulses are used to realize the PT symmetry in a single spatial resonator based on the temporal degrees of freedom.The gain and loss of the microwave pulses and the coupling coefficient between them can then be controlled.We first demonstrate the phase diagram from PT broken to PT symmetry in the OEO system.We theoretically prove that the perturbation of a coupling-induced phase shift larger than(2π)×10^(-2)causes the disappearance of the PT symmetry.In this experiment,the perturbation is less than(2π)×0.5×10^(-2);thus,the phase transition of PT symmetry is observed.In addition,multipairs of PT-symmetry pulses indicate that pulsed OEO could be used to implement complex non-Hermitian Hamilton systems.Therefore,it is confirmed that pulsed OEO is an excellent platform to explore the dynamics of PT symmetry and other non-Hermitian Hamiltonian systems. | HAO DING QIZHUANG CEN KUN XU MING LI YITANG DAI | 2022 | Photonics Research2022,10,8: | 0 |
| 17 | Comparison and development of advanced machine learning tools to predict nonalcoholic fatty liver disease:An extended study显示文摘Background:Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a public health challenge and significant cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide.Early identification is crucial for disease intervention.We recently proposed a nomogram-based NAFLD prediction model from a large population cohort.We aimed to explore machine learning tools in predicting NAFLD.Methods:A retrospective cross-sectional study was performed on 15315 Chinese subjects(10373 training and 4942 testing sets).Selected clinical and biochemical factors were evaluated by different types of machine learning algorithms to develop and validate seven predictive models.Nine evaluation indicators including area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC),area under the precision-recall curve(AUPRC),accuracy,positive predictive value,sensitivity,F1 score,Matthews correlation coefficient(MCC),specificity and negative prognostic value were applied to compare the performance among the models.The selected clinical and biochemical factors were ranked according to the importance in prediction ability.Results:Totally 4018/10373(38.74%)and 1860/4942(37.64%)subjects had ultrasound-proven NAFLD in the training and testing sets,respectively.Seven machine learning based models were developed and demonstrated good performance in predicting NAFLD.Among these models,the XGBoost model revealed the highest AUROC(0.873),AUPRC(0.810),accuracy(0.795),positive predictive value(0.806),F1 score(0.695),MCC(0.557),specificity(0.909),demonstrating the best prediction ability among the built models.Body mass index was the most valuable indicator to predict NAFLD according to the feature ranking scores.Conclusions:The XGBoost model has the best overall prediction ability for diagnosing NAFLD.The novel machine learning tools provide considerable beneficial potential in NAFLD screening. | Yuan-Xing Liu Xi Liu Chao Cen Xin Li Ji-Min Liu Zhao-Yan Ming Song-Feng Yu Xiao-Feng Tang Lin Zhou Jun Yu Ke-Jie Huang Shu-Sen Zheng | 2021 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2021,20,5: | 0 |

| 19 | The role of AFAP1-AS1 in mitotic catastrophe and metastasis of triple-negative breast cancer cells by activating the PLK1 signaling pathway显示文摘Triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)is characterized by fast growth,high metastasis,high invasion,and a lack of therapeutic targets.Mitosis and metastasis of TNBC cells are two important biological behaviors in TNBC malignant progression.It is well known that the long noncoding RNA AFAP1-AS1 plays a crucial role in various tumors,but whether AFAP1-AS1 is involved in the mitosis of TNBC cells remains unknown.In this study,we investigated the functional mechanism of AFAP1-AS1 in targeting Polo-like Kinase 1(PLK1)activation and participating in mitosis of TNBC cells.We detected the expression of AFAP1-AS1 in the TNBC patient cohort and primary cells by in situ hybridization(ISH),northern blot,fluorescent in situ hybridization(FISH)and cell nucleus/cytoplasm RNA fraction isolation.High AFAP1-AS1 expression was negatively correlated with overall survival(OS),disease-free survival(DFS),metastasis-free survival(MFS)and recurrence-free survival(RFS)in TNBC patients.We explored the function of AFAP1-AS1 by transwell,apoptosis,immunofluorescence(IF)and patient-derived xenograft(PDX)models in vitro and in vivo.We found that AFAP1-AS1 promoted TNBC primary cell survival by inhibiting mitotic catastrophe and increased TNBC primary cell growth,migration and invasion.Mechanistically,AFAP1-AS1 activated phosphorylation of the mitosis-associated kinase PLK1 protein.Elevated levels of AFAP1-AS1 in TNBC primary cells increased PLK1 pathway downstream gene expression,such as CDC25C,CDK1,BUB1 and TTK.More importantly,AFAP1-AS1 increased lung metastases in a mouse metastasis model.Taken together,AFAP1-AS1 functions as an oncogene that activates the PLK1 signaling pathway.AFAP1-AS1 could be used as a potential prognostic marker and therapeutic target for TNBC. | SHUIZHONG CEN XIAOJIE PENG JIANWEN DENG HAIYUN JIN ZHINAN DENG XIAOHUA LIN DI ZHU MING JIN YANWEN ZHU PUSHENG ZHANG YUNFENG LUO HONGYAN HUANG | 2023 | Oncology Research2023,31,3: | 0 |
| 20 | Double-cavity nor-seco-cucurbit[10]uril-based supramolecular assembly for selective detection and removal of trinitrophenol显示文摘The effective removal and selective detection of explosive and toxic pollutant trinitrophenol (TNP) is an attractive but challenging field.Herein,a double-cavity nor-seco-cucurbit[10]uril (ns-Q[10])-based supramolecular assembly 8-HQ@ns-Q[10]was fabricated and its structure was characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction.In this assembly,the stoichiometric ratio of ns-Q[10]and 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) is 1:2,which is also attributed to the special double-cavity structure of ns-Q[10].The luminescence sensing experiments showed that 8-HQ@ns-Q[10]can be used as a good fluorescence-enhanced sensing material (enhanced 27-fold) for the rapid detection of explosives and the aqueous contaminant TNP,with a limit of detection (LOD) of 2.07×10^(-5)mol/L,without interference from other phenolic compounds.Furthermore,TNP can be efficiently removed in the presence of assembly 8-HQ@ns-Q[10],and the removal efficiency is more than 89%.Therefore,the supramolecular assembly 8-HQ@ns-Q[10],as a fluorescenceenhanced luminescence sensor and adsorption material,has rich research value and potential application prospect when applied to the detection and removal of TNP in aqueous environment. | Ran Cen Ming Liu Jiao He Dingwu Pan Lixia Chen Ying Huang Zhu Tao Xin Xiao | 2023 | Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,10: | 0 |
