| 1 | Altered trends in carbon uptake in China’s terrestrial ecosystems under the enhanced summer monsoon and warming hiatus显示文摘The carbon budgets in terrestrial ecosystems in China are strongly coupled with climate changes.Over the past decade,China has experienced dramatic climate changes characterized by enhanced summer monsoon and decelerated warming.However,the changes in the trends of terrestrial net ecosystem production(NEP)in China under climate changes are not well documented.Here,we used three ecosystem models to simulate the spatiotemporal variations in China's NEP during 1982–2010 and quantify the contribution of the strengthened summer monsoon and warming hiatus to the NEP variations in four distinct climatic regions of the country.Our results revealed a decadal-scale shift in NEP from a downtrend of–5.95 Tg C/yr^2(reduced sink)during 1982–2000 to an uptrend of 14.22 Tg C/yr^2(enhanced sink)during 2000–10.This shift was essentially induced by the strengthened summer monsoon,which stimulated carbon uptake,and the warming hiatus,which lessened the decrease in the NEP trend.Compared to the contribution of 56.3%by the climate effect,atmospheric CO2 concentration and nitrogen deposition had relatively small contributions(8.6 and 11.3%,respectively)to the shift.In conclusion,within the context of the global-warming hiatus,the strengthening of the summer monsoon is a critical climate factor that enhances carbon uptake in China due to the asymmetric response of photosynthesis and respiration.Our study not only revealed the shift in ecosystem carbon sequestration in China in recent decades,but also provides some insight for understanding ecosystem carbon dynamics in other monsoonal areas. | Honglin He Shaoqiang Wang Li Zhang Junbang Wang Xiaoli Ren Lei Zhou Shilong Piao Hao Yan Weimin Ju Fengxue Gu Shiyong Yu Yuanhe Yang Miaomiao Wang Zhongen Niu Rcmg Ge Huimin Yan Mei Huang Guoyi Zhou Yongfei Bai Zongqiang Xie Zhiyao Tang Bingfang Wu Leiming Zhang Nianpeng He Qiufeng Wang Guirui Yu | 2019 | National Science Review2019,6,3: | 24 |
| 2 | Effect of L-NAME on nitric oxide and gastrointestinal motility alterations in cirrhotic rats显示文摘AIM: To invsstigare the effect of L-NAME on nitric oxide andgastriubtestubal motility alterations in cirrhotic ratsMETHODS: Rats with cirrhosis induced by carbontetrachloride were randomly divided into two groups, one( n= 13) receiving 0. 5 mg@ kg-1 per clay of NG-nitro-L-argininemethyl ester (L-NAME), a nitric oxide synthase inhibitor,for 10 days, whereas the other group ( n = 13) and control( n = 10) rats were administrated the same volume of 9 g@ L-1saline.Half gastric emptying time and 2 h residual rate weremeasured by SPECT, using 99m Tc-DTPA-labeled bariumsuifate as test meal. Gastrointestinal transition time wasrecorded simultaneously. Serum concentration of nitrcoxide (NO) was determined by the kinetic cadmiunreduction and colorimetric methods. ImmunohistochemicalSABC method was used to observe the expression anddistribution of three types of nitric oxide synthase (NOS)isoforms in the mt gastrointestinal tract. Western blot wasused to detect expression of gastrointestinal NOS isoforms.RESULTS: Half gastric emptying time and trans-gastrointestinal time were significantly prolonged( 124.0 ± 26.4min; 33.7± 8.9min;72.1 ± 15.3 min; P<0.01), (12.4±0.5h; 9.5±0.3 h; 8.2±0.8 h; P<0.01), 2h residual rate wasraised in cirrhotic rots than in controls and cirrhotic ratstreated with L-NAME(54.9± 7.6 % ,13.7 ± 3.2 %, 34.9± 10.3%, P< 0.01). Serum concentration of NO was significantlyincreased in cirrhotic rots than in the other groups (8.20 ± 2.48)μmol@L-1, (5.94± 1.07) μmol@L-1 ,and control (5.66± 1.60) tμmol@L-1, P< 0.01. NOS staining intensities which weremainly located in the gastrointestinal tissues were markedlylower in cirrhotic rats than in the controls and cirrhotic ratsafter treated with L- NAME.CONCLUSION: Gastrointestinal motility was remarkablyinhibited in cirrhotic rats, which could he alleviated by L-NAME. | 4 | Water consumption in summer maize and winter wheat cropping system based on SEBAL model in Huang-Huai-Hai Plain, China显示文摘Crop consumptive water use is recognized as a key element to understand regional water management performance. This study documents an attempt to apply a regional evapotranspiration model(SEBAL) and crop information for assessment of regional crop(summer maize and winter wheat) actual evapotranspiration(ET a) in Huang-Huai-Hai(3H) Plain, China. The average seasonal ET a of summer maize and winter wheat were 354.8 and 521.5 mm respectively in 3H Plain. A high-ET a belt of summer maize occurs in piedmont plain, while a low ET a area was found in the hill-irrigable land and dry land area. For winter wheat, a high-ET a area was located in the middle part of 3H Plain, including low plain-hydropenia irrigable land and dry land, hill-irrigable land and dry land, and basin-irrigable land and dry land. Spatial analysis demonstrated a linear relationship between crop ET a, normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI), and the land surface temperature(LST). A stronger relationship between ET a and NDVI was found in the metaphase and last phase than other crop growing phase, as indicated by higher correlation coefficient values. Additionally, higher correlation coefficients were detected between ET a and LST than that between ET a and NDVI, and this significant relationship ran through the entire crop growing season. ET a in the summer maize growing season showed a significant relationship with longitude, while ET a in the winter wheat growing season showed a significant relationship with latitude. | 5 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 6 | Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Reference Evapotranspiration and Its Sensitivity Coefficients to Climate Factors in Huang-Huai-Hai Plain,China显示文摘Climate change will have important implications in water shore regions,such as Huang-Huai-Hai(3H)plain,where expected warmer and drier conditions might augment crop water demand.Sensitivity analysis is important in understanding the relative importance of climatic variables to the variation in reference evapotranspiration(ET0).In this study,the 51-yr ET0during winter wheat and summer maize growing season were calculated from a data set of daily climate variables in 40meteorological stations.Sensitivity maps for key climate variables were estimated according to Kriging method and the spatial pattern of sensitivity coefficients for these key variables was plotted.In addition,the slopes of the linear regression lines for sensitivity coefficients were obtained.Results showed that ET0during winter wheat growing season accounted for the largest proportion of annual ET0,due to its long phenological days,while ET0was detected to decrease significantly with the magnitude of 0.5 mm yr-1in summer maize growing season.Solar radiation is considered to be the most sensitive and primarily controlling variable for negative trend in ET0for summer maize season,and higher sensitive coefficient value of ET0to solar radiation and temperature were detected in east part and southwest part of 3H plain respectively.Relative humidity was demonstrated as the most sensitive factor for ET0in winter wheat growing season and declining relativity humidity also primarily controlled a negative trend in ET0,furthermore the sensitivity coefficient to relative humidity increased from west to southeast.The eight sensitivity centrals were all found located in Shandong Province.These ET0along with its sensitivity maps under winter wheat-summer maize rotation system can be applied to predict the agricultural water demand and will assist water resources planning and management for this region. | YANG Jian-ying LIU Qin MEI Xu-rong YAN Chang-rong JU Hui XU Jian-wen | 2013 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2013,12,12: | 11 |
| 7 | Transplantation of placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells reduces hypoxic-ischemic brain damage in rats by ameliorating the inflammatory response显示文摘Hypoxic-ischemic brain damage(HIBD)is a common cause of infant death.The purpose of our research was to explore the immunoregulatory mechanism of placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells(PD-MSCs)in HIBD treatment.Seven-day-old rat pups were randomly divided into HIBD,PD-MSC,fibroblast,and control groups.Forty-eight hours after HIBD induction,cells at a density of 5×104 cells/10µl were injected into the cerebral tissue in the PD-MSC and fibroblast groups.The TNF-α,interleukin-17(IL-17),interferon-γ(IFN-γ),and IL-10 levels were detected through quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Regulatory T cell(Tregs)populations were detected through flow cytometry,and forkhead box P3(Foxp3)was measured through western blot analysis.Behavioral tests and gross and pathological examinations showed that PD-MSC treatment exerted significantly stronger neuroprotective effects than the other treatments.The expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines were substantially upregulated after HI injury.Compared with fibroblast treatment,PD-MSC treatment inhibited the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and increased the production of IL-10 in the ischemic hemispheres and peripheral blood serum(all P<0.01).Flow cytometry results showed a notable increase in the number of Tregs within the spleen of the HIBD group.Moreover,the number of Tregs and the Foxp3 expression levels were higher in the PD-MSC treatment group than in the HIBD and fibroblast groups(all P<0.01).Our research suggests that the mechanism of PD-MSC treatment for HIBD partially involves inflammatory response suppression. | Hongfang Ding Hui Zhang Huifang Ding Dong Li Xinhao Yi Xiaoxu Ma Ruijuan Li Mei Huang Xiuli Ju | 2017 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2017,14,8: | 10 |
| 8 | Recent Progress in CRISPR/Cas9 Technology显示文摘The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/Cas9 system, a simple and efficient tool for genome editing, has experienced rapid progress in its technology and applicability in the past two years. Here, we review the recent advances in CRISPR/Cas9 technology and the ways that have been adopted to expand our capacity for precise genome manipulation. First, we introduce the mechanism of CRISPR/Cas9, including its biochemical and structural implications. Second, we highlight the latest improvements in the CRISPR/Cas9 system, especially Cas9 protein modifications for customization. Third, we review its current applications, in which the versatile CRISPR/Cas9 system was employed to edit the genome, epigenome, or RNA of various organisms. Although CRISPR/Cas9 allows convenient genome editing accompanied by many benefits, we should not ignore the significant ethical and biosafety concerns that it raises. | 13 | Geochemical Characters of Water Coproduced with Coalbed Gas and Shallow Groundwater in Liulin Coalfield of China显示文摘To reveal the geochemical characters of water coproduced with coalbed gas and shallow groundwater,water samples were collected from 12 wells of coalbed methane and 7 wells of shallow groundwater.The pH,CODMn,fCO2,total dissolved solids(TDS),total hardness,and concentrations of metasilicic acid,sodium and kalium,calcium ion,magnesium ion,ammonium iron,bicarbonate ion,carbonate,chloride,sulfate ion,nitrate ion,fluoride,lithium,zinc,nickel,manganese,iron,boron,barium,etc.of the samples were measured.Research results showed the following:(1)Concentrations of TDS,chloride,fluoride,sodium and kalium,ammonium,iron,and barium in the water coproduced with coalbed gas exceeded the national standards of China;however,physical,chemical,and biological properties of shallow groundwater could meet the national standard.(2)The water produced from coalbed contained mainly Na–Cl·HCO3,with average TDS of 4588.5 ppm,whereas shallow groundwater contained a mixture of chemicals including Na·Mg·Ca-HCO3·SO4and Na·MgHCO3·SO4,with average TDS of 663.8 ppm.(3)In general,it was observed that bicarbonate and sodium accumulated in a reducing environment and deeper system,while depletion of hydrogen ions and dissolution of sulfate,calcium,and magnesium occurred in a redox environment and shallow system.(4)Sodium and kalium,ammonium,chloride,and bicarbonate ions were the main ions found in the study area. | YANG Mei JU Yiwen LIU Guijian TONG Li KANG Yu HOU Quanlin | 2013 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2013,87,6: | 6 |
| 14 | Influential factors and control of water inrush in a coal seam as the main aquifer显示文摘In this paper, a combination of field measurement, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation were used to study the main control factors of coal mine water inrush in a main aquifer coal seam and its control scheme. On the basis of revealing and analyzing the coal seam as the main aquifer in western coal mine of Xiao Jihan coal mine, the simulation software of PHASE-2D was applied to analyze the water inflow under different influencing factors. The results showed that water inflow increases logarithmically with the coal seam thickness, increases as a power function with the permeability coefficient of the coal seam, and increases linearly with the coal seam burial depth and the head pressure; The evaluation model for the factors of coal seam water inrush was gained by using nonlinear regression analysis with SPSS. The mine water inrush risk evaluation partition within the scope of the mining field was obtained,through the engineering application in Xiao Jihan coal mine. | 17 | Oral Chinese Herbal Medicine for Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction: A Meta-Analysis显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of oral Chinese herbal medicine(OCHM) for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction(HFp EF). Methods: Pub Med, Excerpta Medica Database(EMBASE), Cochrane Library, Chinese Biological Medicine Database(CBM), Wanfang Database, Chongqing VIP Information(VIP) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) were searched for appropriate articles from respective inceptions until June 3, 2018. Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) investigating the effectiveness of OCHM for the patients with HFp EF were eligible. Quality assessment was performed by employing the Cochrane Risk of Bias assessment tool. Papers were independently reviewed by two reviewers and analyzed using Cochrane software Revman 5.3. Dichotomous data were analyzed by relative risk(RR) with a 95% confidence interval(CI), while continuous variables were analyzed by using mean difference(MD) with 95% CI for effect size. Results: A total of 16 RCTs involving 1,320 participants were identified. Fourteen of the trials used conventional Western medicine(CWM) as the control, the control of 1 trial was no treatment, and another was placebo. Three of the trials served Chinese patent medicine(CPM) as interventions, and other OCHM were Chinese medicine decoctions(CMDs). Only limited evidence showed experimental group with OCHM may get better effect on brain natriuretic peptide(BNP: MD –37.29, 95% CI –53.08 to –21.50, P<0.00001) or N terminal pro B type natriuretic peptide(NT-pro BNP: MD –236.04, 95% CI –356.83 to –115.25, P=0.0001), Minnesota Living with Heart Failure questionnaire(MLHFQ, MD –9.94, 95% CI –16.77 to –3.11, P=0.004), but the results had high heterogeneities. With concerns on 12 of 16 trials, the meta-analysis found that the adjuvant therapy of OCHM might be more effective in increasing overall response rate(RR 1.17, 95% CI 1.11 to 1.24, P<0.00001), when compared with CWM alone. Subgroup meta-analysis between CPMs and CMDs showed that the two CPMs may have more therapeutic effect on MLHFQ, but not on NT-pro BNP, and CMD came to the opposite conclusion. No significant differences were found between experimental groups and control groups on 6-min walk test(6 MWT). Adverse events, such as more defecation, weakness, cardiopalmus, edema, cough and hypotension, were mild in all groups and disappeared after the easement of pharmacological intervention. Conclusions: Due to the insufficient quality of trials that were analyzed, it is not appropriate to confirm or deny the potency of OCHMs in treating HFp EF at the present time. | 19 | Heterotopic ossification after arthroscopy for hip impingement syndrome显示文摘Background:Heterotopic ossification(HO)is a known complication of hip arthroscopy.We investigated incidence of HO after hip arthroscopy and determined whether revision for HO improved outcome.Methods:A retrospective study was conducted on 242 patients(140 men and 102 women,mean age:36.2±9.5 years)who underwent hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement(FAI)between January 2016 and January 2018.The average followup period was 22.88±11.74 months(range:11-34 months).Thirteen(5.37%)cases of HO(six men and seven women,five left hips and eight right hips;mean age:37.5±4.7 years)were observed.Among them,four cases with HO with obvious pain symptoms and persistent non-remission underwent revision surgery to remove HO.Monthly follow-up was conducted.Visual analog scale(VAS),modified Harris Hip Score(mHHS),and non-Arthritis Hip Score(NAHS)were evaluated and compared between HO and non-HO patients.Independent sample t test,Mann-Whitney U test and the Chi-square test were used for inter-group comparisons.HO degree was evaluated using Brooker classification.Symptoms and function were evaluated before and after revision.Results:A total of 242 patients were involved in this study.Thirteen cases(5.4%)had imaging evidence of HO.Nine(9/13)were classified as Brooker stageⅠ,three(3/13)Brooker stageⅡ,and one(1/13)Brooker stageⅢ.HO was detected by ultrasonography as early as 3 weeks after operation.After primary surgery,the mHHS of the HO group and non-HO group increased by 13.00(8.50,25.50)and 24.00(14.00,34.50)points(Z=-1.80,P=0.08),NAHS increased by 18.00(9.50,31.50)and 26.00(13.50,36.00)points(Z=-1.34,P=0.18),and VAS decreased by 3.00(2.00,4.00)and 4.00(3.00,4.50)points(Z=-1.55,P=0.12).Average follow-up time after revision was 9.00±2.94 months;mHHS increased by 34.75 points t=-55.23,P<0.01)and NAHS by 28.75 points t=-6.03,P<0.01),and VAS decreased by 4 points t=9.80,P<0.01).HO and non-HO patients were similar for demographic and surgical data,and clinical and functional scores.Conclusion:HO incidence after arthroscopic treatment of FAI is similar to that found in previous studies.Most HO have no effect on clinical symptoms.Patients who undergo revision HO resection show improvement in pain and joint function. | Guan-Ying Gao Xin Zhang Ling-Hui Dai Hong-Jie Huang Rui-Qi Wu Xiao-Dong Ju Yu Mei Xing-Yue Niu Jian-Quan Wang Yan Xu | 2019 | Chinese Medical Journal2019,,7: | 3 |
| 20 | Integrated DNA-based/biochemical screening for early diagnosis of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A (MEN2A)显示文摘Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A (MEN2A), a subtype of MEN2, is characterized by medullary thyroid cancer, pheochromocytoma, and primary hyperparathyroidism. A Han Chinese pedigree with MEN2A was investigated following confirmation of the proband's diagnosis by pathological findings and DNA/biochemical screening. DNA samples from 4 other family members were collected and exon 5, 8, 10, 11, 13, 16 and 18 of the RET proto-oncogene were sequenced and then analyzed. A missense mutation of TGG (Trp) to TGC (Cys) at codon 634 (the classic MEN2A mutation) in exon 11 of the RET gene was detected in 3 family members, including the proband. Sequencing data were compared with the human gene mutation database. Elevated serum calcitonin level was detected initially; medullary thyroid carcinoma was revealed in the 3 cases and adrenal pheochromocy-toma was also found in the proband. Elective operations were successfully performed on the adrenal and thyroid glands because of pheochromocytoma and medullary thyroid carcinoma. Our case study confirms that integrated DNA-based/biochemical screening is crucial for early diagnosis of MEN2A and is helpful in the screening of their relatives.
