| 5 | Effect of Jinhua Qinggan granules on novel coronavirus pneumonia in patients显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Jinhua Qinggan granules in the treatment of patients with novel coronavirus pneumonia(COVID-19).METHODS: Eighty cases of COVID-19 diagnosed from January 24 to February 17, 2020 in Beijing YouAn Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University were retrospectively analyzed. All 80 patients received symptomatic and supportive treatment.Among them, 44 patients took Jinhua Qinggan granules(treatment group) within 24 h of admission, and the remaining 36 patients either did not take Jinhua Qinggan granules or took the granules for less than 2 d(control group). In this study, we compared the duration of viral nucleic acid detection and of pneumonia absorption improvement between the two groups.RESULTS: Among the 80 cases, 37 were male(46%)and 43 were female(54%) with age ranging from15 to 86 years, with an average age of 51.19 years.The average duration of viral nucleic acid detection was(7 ± 4) d in the Jinhua Qinggan administration group and(10 ± 4) d for the control group(P =0.010), following which, nucleic acid tests were negative. Of the two groups, 56.82% in the Jinhua Qinggan treatment group and 27.78% in the control group demonstrated negative nucleic acid tests within 7 d or less. The 7-day viral clearance rate was significantly higher in the Jinhua Qinggan group compared with the control group(P = 0.009). Furthermore, the pneumonia recovery time indicated by chest CT was(8 ± 4) d in the Jinhua Qinggan group, which was significantly shorter than the control group, at(10 ± 5) d(P = 0.021). | 6 | Responses of rice growth to copper stress under free-air CO_2 enrichment (FACE)显示文摘The responses of rice to the second degree contamination of copper were studied by pot experiments under free-air CO2 enrichment (FACE) with 570 μmol·mol-1 of CO2. The results showed that the content of copper in rice leaves was reduced with the CO2 concentration reaching 570 μmol·mol-1 and this happened more significantly under the second degree contamination of copper. Under FACE, activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme in rice leaves treated by copper contamination were induced, whereas the contents of glutathione (GSH) and glutathione disulfide (GSSG) had no significant difference from the control. In the presence of ambient CO2, activities of SOD enzyme treated by copper pollution were suppressed during the whole rice growth, however, the contents of GSH and GSSG were induced at tillering and jointing stages, and then restored to the control levels in later growth under the second degree contamination of copper. With the rice growing, the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) rises continuously, but there had been no significant difference between the treatments at the same growth stage. | 8 | Comparing the Diagnostic Criteria of MAFLD and NAFLD in the Chinese Population:A Population-based Prospective Cohort Study显示文摘Background and Aims:Metabolic dysfunction-associ-ated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is a new concept,pro-posed in 2020;however,its applicability in Asia populations has yet to be evaluated.Therefore,we aimed to compare the difference in epidemiological and clinical characteris-tics between MAFLD and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)among Asian populations.Methods:Based on the Jinchang cohort,30,633 participants were collected.The prevalence and incidence of MAFLD and NAFLD were used to analyze the epidemic characteristics and its overlapping effects.In addition,the corresponding clinical character-istics of the two diagnostic criteria populations were com-pared.Results:The prevalence rates of MAFLD and NAFLD were 21.03%and 18.83%,respectively.After an average 2.28-year follow-up,the incidence densities of MAFLD and NAFLD were 41.58 per 1,000 person-years and 37.69 per 1,000 person-years,respectively.With the increase of baseline age,body mass index(BMI),and waist circumfer-ence(WC)levels,the prevalence and incidence of MAFLD and NAFLD were on the rise(all ptrend<0.05).Among the total patients diagnosed at baseline or follow-up,most pa-tients had both MAFLD and NAFLD,accounting for 78.84%and 82.88%,respectively.Compared with NAFLD,MAFLD patients had greater proportions of males and metabolic diseases(diabetes,dyslipidemia),and had higher BMI,WC,liver enzymes,blood glucose,and lipid levels in the base-line diagnosis patients(p<0.05).Additionally,lean MAFLD patients had higher metabolic disorders than lean NAFLD patients(p<0.05).Conclusions:Compared with NAFLD,the newly proposed definition of MAFLD is more practical and accurate,and it can help identify more fatty liver pa-tients with high-risk diseases. | Cheng Yu Minzhen Wang Shan Zheng Miao Xia Hongyan Yang Desheng Zhang Chun Yin Ning Cheng Yana Bai | 2022 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,1: | 7 |

| 12 | Response of forest distribution to past climate change: An insight into future predictions显示文摘Vegetation dynamics could lead to changes in the global carbon and hydrology cycle,as well as feedbacks to climate change.This paper reviews the response of forest dynamics to climate change.Based on palaeoecological studies,we summarized the features and modes of vegetation response to climate change and categorized the impacts of climate change on vegetation dynamics as three types:climate stress on vegetation,buffer effects by non-climatic factors,and perturbation of the vegetation distribution by stochastic events.Due to the openness of the vegetation system and the integrated effects of both climatic and non-climatic factors,the vegetation-climate relationship deviates far from its equilibrium.The vegetation distribution shows a non-linear response to climate change,which also makes it difficult to quantify the modern vegetation distribution in terms of specific climatic factors.Past analog,space-for-time-substitution and Dynamic Global Vegetation Models(DGVMs)are three approaches to predicting the future vegetation distribution,but they have all been established on the assumption of vegetation-climate equilibrium.We propose that improving DGVMs is a future task for studies of vegetation dynamics because these are process-based models incorporating both disturbance(e.g.fire)and the variability in Plant Functional Types(PFTs).However,palaeoecological results should be used to test the models,and issues like spatial and temporal scale,complexity of climate change,effects of non-climatic factors,vegetation-climate feedback,and human regulation on vegetation dynamics are suggested as topics for future studies. | LIU HongYan YIN Yi | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,35: | 2 |
