| 3 | Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI versus ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT: Which is better in differentiation between malignant and benign solitary pulmonary nodules?显示文摘Objective: To prospectively compare the discriminative capacity of dynamic contrast enhanced-magnetic resonance imaging(DCE-MRI) with that of ^(18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose(^(18)F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography(PET/CT) in the differentiation of malignant and benign solitary pulmonary nodules(SPNs).Methods: Forty-nine patients with SPNs were included in this prospective study. Thirty-two of the patients had malignant SPNs, while the other 17 had benign SPNs. All these patients underwent DCE-MRI and ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT examinations. The quantitative MRI pharmacokinetic parameters, including the trans-endothelial transfer constant(K^(trans)), redistribution rate constant(K_(ep)), and fractional volume(Ve), were calculated using the Extended-Tofts Linear two-compartment model. The ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT parameter, maximum standardized uptake value(SUV_(max)), was also measured. Spearman's correlations were calculated between the MRI pharmacokinetic parameters and the SUV_(max) of each SPN. These parameters were statistically compared between the malignant and benign nodules. Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) analyses were used to compare the diagnostic capability between the DCE-MRI and ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT indexes.Results: Positive correlations were found between K^(trans) and SUV_(max), and between K_(ep) and SUV_(max)(P<0.05).There were significant differences between the malignant and benign nodules in terms of the K^(trans), K_(ep) and SUV_(max) values(P<0.05). The areas under the ROC curve(AUC) of K^(trans), K_(ep) and SUV_(max) between the malignant and benign nodules were 0.909, 0.838 and 0.759, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity in differentiating malignant from benign SPNs were 90.6% and 82.4% for K^(trans); 87.5% and 76.5% for K_(ep); and 75.0% and 70.6%for SUV_(max), respectively. | 4 | Viscoelastic evaluation of fetal umbilical vein for reconstruction of middle cerebral artery显示文摘The transplantation of artificial blood vessels with < 6 mm inner diameter as substitutes for human arterioles or veins has not achieved satisfactory results.Umbilical vein has been substituted for artery in vascular transplantation,but it remains unclear whether the stress relaxation and creep between these vessels are consistent.In this study,we used the fetal umbilical vein and middle cerebral artery from adult male cadavers to make specimens 15 mm in length,0.196–0.268 mm in tunica media thickness,and 2.82–2.96 mm in outer diameter.The results demonstrated that the stress decrease at 7 200 seconds was similar between the middle cerebral artery and fetal umbilical vein specimens,regardless of initial stress of 18.7 kPa or 22.5 kPa.However,the strain increase at 7 200 seconds of fetal umbilical veins was larger than that of middle cerebral arteries.Moreover,the stress relaxation experiment showed that the stress decrease at 7 200 seconds of the fetal umbilical vein and middle cerebral artery specimens under 22.5 kPa initial stress was less than the decrease in these specimens under 18.7 kPa initial stress.These results indicate that the fetal umbilical vein has appropriate stress relaxation and creep properties for transplantation.These properties are advantageous for vascular reconstruction,indicating that the fetal umbilical vein can be transplanted to repair middle cerebral artery injury. | Dongyuan Li Donghui Xu Peng Li Jun Wei Kun Yang Conghai Zhao | 2013 | Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,32: | 3 |

| 9 | A joint call for actions to advance taxonomy in China显示文摘Taxonomy plays an important role in understanding the origin, evolution, and ecological functionality of biodiversity. There are large number of unknown species yet to be described by taxonomists, which together with their ecosystem services cannot be effectively protected prior to description. Despite this, taxonomy has been increasingly underrated insufficient funds and permanent positions to retain young talents. Further, the impact factordriven evaluation systems in China exacerbate this downward trend, so alternative evaluation metrics are urgently necessary. When the current generation of outstanding taxonomists retires,there will be too few remaining taxonomists left to train the next generation. | 11 | Corrosion behavior and cytocompatibility of fluoride-incorporated plasma electrolytic oxidation coating on biodegradable AZ31 alloy显示文摘Fluoride-incorporated plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)coating was fabricated on biodegradable AZ31 alloy.The surface morphologies and phases were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction.The effect of fluoride incorporation in coatings on corrosion behaviour was investigated in simulated body fluid and in vitro cytocompatibility of the coatings was also studied by evaluating cytotoxicity,adhesion,proliferation and live-dead stain of osteoblast cells(MC3T3-E1).Furthermore,the corrosion morphologies in vivo were examined.The results showed that the fluoride could be incorporated into the coating to form MgF2 phase.In vitro and in vivo degradation tests revealed that the corrosion resistance of the coating could be improved by the incorporation of fluoride,which may attribute to the chemical stability of MgF2 phase.Moreover,good cytocompatibility of fluoride-incorporated coating was confirmed with no obvious cytotoxicity,enhanced cell adhesion and proliferation.However,when the fluoride content was high,a slight inhibition of cell growth was observed.The results indicate that although fluoride incorporation can enhance the corrosion resistance of the coatings,thus resulting a more suitable environment for cells,the high content of fluoride in the coating also kill cells ascribed to the high released of fluorine.If the content of fluoride is well controlled,the PEO coating with MgF2 phase is a promising surface modification of Mg alloys. | Peng Tian Feng Peng Donghui Wang Xuanyong Liu | 2017 | Regenerative Biomaterials2017,4,1: | 1 |

| 17 | Efficient and stable quorum-based log replication and replay for modern cluster-databases显示文摘The modern in-memory database(IMDB)can support highly concurrent on-line transaction processing(OLTP)workloads and generate massive transactional logs per second.Quorum-based replication protocols such as Paxos or Raft have been widely used in the distributed databases to offer higher availability and fault-tolerance.However,it is non-trivial to replicate IMDB because high transaction rate has brought new challenges.First,the leader node in quorum replication should have adaptivity by considering various transaction arrival rates and the processing capability of follower nodes.Second,followers are required to replay logs to catch up the state of the leader in the highly concurrent setting to reduce visibility gap.Third,modern databases are often built with a cluster of commodity machines connected by low configuration networks,in which the network anomalies often happen.In this case,the performance would be significantly affected because the follower node falls into the long-duration exception handling process(e.g.,fetch lost logs from the leader).To this end,we build QuorumX,an efficient and stable quorum-based replication framework for IMDB under heavy OLTP workloads.QuorumX combines critical path based batching and pipeline batching to provide an adaptive log propagation scheme to obtain a stable and high performance at various settings.Further,we propose a safe and coordination-free log replay scheme to minimize the visibility gap between the leader and follower IMDBs.We further carefully design the process for the follower node in order to alleviate the influence of the unreliable network on the replication performance.Our evaluation results with the YCSB,TPC-C and a realistic microbenchmark demonstrate that QuorumX achieves the performance close to asynchronous primary-backup replication and could always provide a stable service with data consistency and a low-level visibility gap. | Donghui WANG Peng CAI Weining QIAN Aoying ZHOU | 2022 | Frontiers of Computer Science2022,16,5: | 0 |
| 18 | Zn-contained mussel-inspired film on Mg alloy for inhibiting bacterial infection and promoting bone regeneration显示文摘Infection and insufficient osteointegration are the main causes of orthopedic implant failure.Furthermore,activating favorable inflammation response is vital to the fast osteointegration of implants.Therefore,endowing the implants with multifunctions(antibacterial,anti-inflammation,and pro-osteointegration)is a promising strategy to improve the performance of orthopedic implants.In this study,a Zn-contained polydopamine(PDA)film was fabricated on AZ31 alloy.The film possessed a stable Zn ion release in 14 days.The results of electrochemical analysis implied the favorable corrosion protection of the film,and thus,leading to a suitable hemolysis ratio(below 1%).The in vitro antibacterial assessment revealed that the film exhibited excellent resistance against Staphylococcus aureus(nearly 100%),which can be ascribed to the release of Zn ions.The cell-culture evaluation revealed that the extract of Zn-contained PDA-coated sample can activate RAW264.7 polarization to an anti-inflammatory phenotype,as well as enhance the osteogenic dif-ferentiation ability of MC3T3-E 1.Additionally,the femoral osteomyelitis model indicated that the as-prepared film had a high antibacterial capability at early stage of the implantation,and showed better osteogenesis and osteointegration after 8 weeks of implantation.With favorable antibacte-rial,anti-inflammation,and pro-osteogenesis abilities,the novel designed Zn-contained PDA film is promising to be used in Mg-based orthopedic implants. | Feng Peng Shi Cheng Ruiying Zhang Mei Li Jielong Zhou Donghui Wang Yu Zhang | 2021 | Regenerative Biomaterials2021,8,1: | 0 |
| 19 | Hydromedusae from the Arctic in 2010 during the 4th Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition(CHINARE 4)显示文摘Fifty-seven stations(48 grid stations and nine stratified stations) were sampled across the study region(67.000°–88.394°N, 152.500°–178.643°W) during the 4th Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition(CHINARE 4) from July to August 2010 by the icebreaker R/V Xuelong. A total of 24 species of Hydromedusae were identified from 130 zooplankton samples, of which seven species belonged to Automedusa, eight species to Anthomedusae, four species to Leptomedudae, and three species to Siphonophora. Catablema multicirratum Kishinouye, 1910, Bougainvillia bitentaculata Uchida, 1925, and Euphysa japonica(Maas, 1909) were recorded for the first time in the Arctic sea.
