4Early embryonic transcriptomes of Zeugodacus tau provide insight into sex determination and differentiation genes显示文摘Zeugodacus tau(Walker)is an invasive pest.The sterile insect technique is an environment-friendly method for pest control.Understanding the mechanism of sex determination will contribute to improving efficiency of this technique.In this study,we identified the transformer(tra)gene in Z.tau.One female-specific and two male-specific isoforms of tra were found in Z.tau,and the male-specific splicing pattern of tra was found to occur 5 h after egg laying.We performed transcriptome sequencing at 1 h(E1),5 h(E5),and 9 h(E9)after egg laying and obtained high-quality transcriptome libraries of early embryo development.We identified 13297 and 11713 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)from E5 versus E1 and E9 versus E1 comparisons,respectively.To explore the potential functions of the DEGs during embryonic development,Gene Ontology,Clusters of Orthologous Groups of proteins,and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses were performed.Twenty-six genes potentially involved in sex determination or differentiation,including Maleness-on-the-Y(MoY),were identified in Z.tau.To verify the transcriptome results,15 genes were selected for quantitative real-time PCR validation.The results were consistent with the transcriptome sequencing results.Moreover,U2 small nuclear riboprotein auxiliary factor(U2AF-50),female lethal d(fl(2)d),and virilizer(vir)were highly expressed at E5,indicating that they may be related to the sex-specific splicing of tra.Further functional analysis is needed to confirm this speculation.Our data provide an insight into the mechanism underlying sex determination and differentiation in tephritid species.Peipei Liu Wenping Zheng Jiao Qiao Ziniu Li Zhurong Deng Yimin Yuan Hongyu Zhang 2022Insect Science2022,29,3:1

7HB-PLS:A statistical method for identifying biological process or pathway regulators by integrating Huber loss and Berhu penalty with partial least squares regression显示文摘Gene expression data features high dimensionality,multicollinearity,and non-Gaussian distribution noise,posing hurdles for identification of true regulatory genes controlling a biological process or pathway.In this study,we integrated the Huber loss function and the Berhu penalty(HB)into partial least squares(PLS)framework to deal with the high dimension and multicollinearity property of gene expression data,and developed a new method called HB-PLS regression to model the relationships between regulatory genes and pathway genes.To solve the Huber-Berhu optimization problem,an accelerated proximal gradient descent algorithm with at least 10 times faster than the general convex optimization solver(CVX),was developed.Application of HB-PLS to recognize pathway regulators of lignin biosynthesis and photosynthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana led to the identification of many known positive pathway regulators that had previously been experimentally validated.As compared to sparse partial least squares(SPLS)regression,an efficient method for variable selection and dimension reduction in handling multicollinearity,HB-PLS has higher efficacy in identifying more positive known regulators,a much higher but slightly less sensitivity/(1-specificity)in ranking the true positive known regulators to the top of the output regulatory gene lists for the two aforementioned pathways.In addition,each method could identify some unique regulators that cannot be identified by the other methods.Our results showed that the overall performance of HB-PLS slightly exceeds that of SPLS but both methods are instrumental for identifying real pathway regulators from high-throughput gene expression data,suggesting that integration of statistics,machine leaning and convex optimization can result in a method with high efficacy and is worth further exploration.Wenping Deng Kui Zhang Cheng He Sanzhen Liu Hairong Wei 2021Forestry Research2021,1,1:1

11Variable Curvature Modeling Method of Soft Continuum Robots with Constraints显示文摘The inherent compliance of continuum robots holds great promise in the fields of soft manipulation and safe human–robot interaction.This compliance reduces the risk of damage to the manipulated object and its surroundings.However,continuum robots possess theoretically infinite degrees of freedom,and this high flexibility usually leads to complex deformations when subjected to external forces and positional constraints.Describing these complex deformations is the main challenge in modeling continuum robots.In this study,we investigated a novel variable curvature modeling method for continuum robots,considering external forces and positional constraints.The robot configuration curve is described using the developed mechanical model,and then the robot is fitted to the curve.A ten-section continuum robot prototype with a length of 1 m was developed in order to validate the model.The feasibility and accuracy of the model were verified by the ability of the robot to reach target points and track complex trajectories with a load.This work was able to serve as a new perspective for the design analysis and motion control of continuum robots.Yuwang Liu Wenping Shi Peng Chen Liang Cheng Qing Ding Zhaoyan Deng 2023Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2023,36,6:0
12Feature-Based Trajectory Privacy Preserving via Low-Rank and Sparse Decomposition显示文摘The disclosure of sensitive contents hidden in trajectories may jeopardize individuals' privacy security.The privacy preserving technologies on trajectories face the challenge of how to give consideration to the spatiotemporal structure of mobile data. Traditional trajectory privacy preserving tricks focus chiefly on partial structure,while ignoring global feature of trajectories. This research orientation tends to cause exorbitant distortion on the spatiotemporal structure of trajectories, which may give rise to low data utility. The moving behavior has itself innate sparseness feature. Thus a trajectory privacy preserving method based on feature maintaining is proposed by introducing the low-rank and sparse decomposition technique about large matrix. The proposed method iteratively decompose the feature matrix until the rank achieving stability to extract the primary feature and eliminate the private parts. The released trajectories are reconstructed by perturbing the final refined feature matrix with a series of low-rank components generated in the decomposition procedure. 13Retina-inspired organic neuromorphic vision sensor with polarity modulation for decoding light information显示文摘The neuromorphic vision sensor(NeuVS),which is based on organic field-effect transistors(OFETs),uses polar functional groups(PFGs)in polymer dielectrics as interfacial units to control charge carriers.However,the mechanism of modulating charge transport on basis of PFGs in devices is unclear.Here,the carboxyl group is introduced into polymer dielectrics in this study,and it can induce the charge transfer process at the semiconductor/dielectric interfaces for effective carrier transport,giving rise to the best device mobility up to 20 cm^(2) V^(−1) s^(−1) at a low operating voltage of−1 V.Furthermore,the polarity modulation effect could further increase the optical figures of merit in NeuVS devices by at least an order of magnitude more than the devices using carboxyl group-free polymer dielectrics.Additionally,devices containing carboxyl groups improved image sensing for light information decoding with 52 grayscale signals and memory capabilities at an incredibly low power consumption of 1.25 fJ/spike.Our findings provide insight into the production of high-performance polymer dielectrics for NeuVS devices.Ting Jiang Yiru Wang Wanxin Huang Haifeng Ling Guofeng Tian Yunfeng Deng Yanhou Geng Deyang Ji Wenping Hu 2023Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,11:0
14Precipitates Generation Mechanism and Surface Quality Improvement for Aluminum Alloy 6061 in Diamond Cutting显示文摘To improve the surface quality for aluminum alloy 6061(Al6061) in ultra-precision machining, we investigated the factors affecting the surface finish in single point diamond turning(SPDT)by studying influence of the precipitates generation of Al6061 on surface integrity and surface roughness.Based on the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami solid phase transformation kinetics equation, theoretical and experimental studies were conducted to build the relationship between the aging condition and the type, size and number of the precipitates for Al6061. Diamond cutting experiments were conducted to machine Al6061 samples under different aging conditions. The experimental results show that, the protruding on the chip surface is mainly Mg_(2)Si and the scratches on the machined surface mostly come from the iron-containing phase(α-, β-AlFeSi).Moreover, the generated Mg_(2)Si and α-, β-AlFeSi affect the surface integrity and the diamond turned surface roughness. 15毛竹和日本柳杉幼苗对土壤氧化亚氮排放的影响及微生物机制显示文摘毛竹(Phyllostachys edulis)向日本柳杉(Cryptomeria japonica)林的扩张现象越发普遍,其扩张对大气重要温室气体氧化亚氮(N_(2)O)排放的影响也引起了更多的关注,而其微生物机制尚不明确。本研究通过添加微生物抑制剂链霉素和扑海因分别抑制细菌和真菌活性,连续观测土壤N_(2)O排放速率以及相关土壤养分和植物生物量。研究结果表明:(i)毛竹土壤N_(2)O的排放速率显著高于日本柳杉;与对照相比,细菌抑制剂、真菌抑制剂及其交互作用均对N_(2)O排放速率具有显著抑制效应,但三者之间无显著差异;(ii)毛竹生物量显著高于日本柳杉;(iii)日本柳杉土壤有机质、全氮和铵态氮显著高于毛竹土壤,日本柳杉土壤pH和全磷显著低于毛竹土壤。真菌抑制剂降低了土壤有机质含量,细菌抑制剂降低了土壤硝态氮含量。真菌抑制剂与物种在影响土壤pH、全磷和铵态氮方面具有显著交互作用。细菌抑制剂与物种在影响土壤全氮方面有显著交互作用。综上所述,毛竹和日本柳杉在生长过程中土壤N_(2)O排放速率不同,毛竹幼苗土壤N_(2)O排放及生物量均高于日本柳杉。细菌抑制剂和真菌抑制剂对N_(2)O的排放速率均具有一定抑制作用。因而,在全球气候变化背景下,应进一步深入了解森林生态系统物种组成和变化对N_(2)O排放的影响,以有效评估毛竹扩张等导致的生物多样性变化对全球N_(2)O排放的贡献。Haifu Fang Yu Gao Qiang Zhang Lili Ma Baihui Wang Nasir Shad Wenping Deng Xiaojun Liu Yuanqiu Liu Ling Zhang 2022Journal of Plant Ecology2022,15,2:0
