| 4 | Study on regional material flow analysis of Chengyang District in Qingdao显示文摘Base on the framework of material flow analysis (MFA) proposed by Eurostat, this paper collected relateddata and conducted a regional MFA for the Chengyang District in Qingdao. The indicators such as Direct Material Input(DMI), Direct Material Consumption (DMC) and Exports are calculated or estimated for the period of year 1995through 2004. Several derivable indicators defining direct material productivity and material intensity are also evaluatedand some valuable conclusions were drawn. DMI in absolute number increased from about 1645.9 kilotons in 1995 toabout 8052.5 kilotons in 2004. Imports contribute to about 47 to 69% of DMI, and the biggest component of imports isfossil fuel that approximately accounts for 50% of imports. DMI per capita of Chengyang District increased rapidly andreached 17.4 tons in 2004. Compared with other five economies studied by WRI, material consumption intensity ofChengyang District is significantly lower than developed countries, which indicates that Chengyang District is still in adevelopment stage. The direct material productivity (actual GDP per DMI) increased 59.1% from 1995 to 2004 and hasbeen higher than either of studies in China, which indicates efficiency of resources utilization has improved obviously inChengyang District. But there was significant increase in material input in the last decade, which shows that rapidincrease of economy is highly dependent on requirement and consumption of natural resources. | 7 | Winter soil CO_2 efflux in two contrasting forest ecosystems on the eastern Tibetan Plateau, China显示文摘Significant CO_2 fluxes from snow-covered soils occur in cold biomes. However, little is known about winter soil respiration on the eastern Tibetan Plateau of China. We therefore measured winter soil CO_2 fluxes and estimated annual soil respiration in two contrasting coniferous forest ecosystems(a Picea asperata plantation and a natural forest).Mean winter soil CO_2 effluxes were 1.08 lmol m^-2s^-1in the plantation and 1.16 lmol m^-2s^-1in the natural forest.These values are higher than most reported winter soil CO_2 efflux values for temperate or boreal forest ecosystems.Winter soil respiration rates were similar for our two forest ecosystems but mean soil CO_2 efflux over the growing season was higher in the natural forest than in the plantation. The estimated winter and annual soil effluxes for the natural forest were 176.3 and 1070.3 g m^-2, respectively, based on the relationship between soil respiration and soil temperature,which were 17.2 and 9.7 % greater than their counterparts in the plantation. The contributions of winter soil respiration to annual soil efflux were 15.4 % for the plantation and 16.5 %for the natural forest and were statistically similar. Our results indicate that winter soil CO_2 efflux from frozen soils in the alpine coniferous forest ecosystems of the eastern Tibetan Plateau was considerable and was an important component of annual soil respiration. | 9 | Enhanced nitrogen removal and microbial analysis in partially saturated constructed wetland for treating anaerobically digested swine waste water显示文摘Nitrogen removal of wastewater containing high-strength ammonium by the constructed wetlands (CWs) has been paid much attention. In this study, the ability of a partially saturated CW to treat anaerobically-digested decentralized swine wastewater under varying operating parameters from summer to winter was investigated. The partially saturated CW achieved better NH4^+-N and TN removal by tidal flow than intermittent flow. With surface loading rates of 0.108, 0.027, and 0.029 kg/(m^2·d) for COD, NH4^+-N, and TN, the partially saturated CW by tidal operation achieved corresponding removal efficiencies of 85.94%, 61.20%, and 57.41%, respectively, even at 10℃. When the rapid-adsorption of NH4^+-N and the bioregeneration of zeolites reached dynamically stable, the simultaneous nitrification and denitrification in the aerobic zeolite layer was observed and accounted for 58.82% of the total denitrification of CW. The results of Illumina high-throughput sequencing also indicated that nitnfiers (Nitrospira and Rhizomicrobiurri) and denitrifiers (Rhodanobacter and Thauera) simultaneously existed in the zeolite layer. The dominant existence of versatile organic degraders and nitrifiers/denitrifiers in the zeolite layer was related to the removal of most COD and nitrogen in this zone. | 17 | Step-wise CAG@PLys@PDA-Cu^(2+)modification on micropatterned nanofibers for programmed endothelial healing显示文摘Native-like endothelium regeneration is a prerequisite for material-guided small-diameter vascular regeneration.In this study,a novel strategy is proposed to achieve phase-adjusted endothelial healing by step-wise modification of parallel-microgroove-patterned(i.e.,micropatterned)nanofibers with polydopamine-copper ion(PDA-Cu^(2+))complexes,polylysine(PLys)molecules,and Cys-Ala-Gly(CAG)peptides(CAG@PLys@PDA-Cu^(2+)).Using electrospun poly(L-lactide-co-caprolactone)random nanofibers as the demonstrating biomaterial,step-wise modification of CAG@PLys@PDA-Cu^(2+)significantly enhanced substrate wettability and protein adsorption,exhibited an excellent antithrombotic surface and outstanding phase-adjusted capacity of endothelium regeneration involving cell adhesion,endothelial monolayer formation,and the regenerated endothelium maturation.Upon in vivo implantation for segmental replacement of rabbit carotid arteries,CAG@PLys@PDA-Cu^(2+)modified grafts(2 mm inner diameter)with micropatterns on inner surface effectively accelerated native-like endothelium regeneration within 1 week,with less platelet aggregates and inflammatory response compared to those on non-modified grafts.Prolonged observations at 6-and 12-weeks post-implantation demonstrated a positive vascular remodeling with almost fully covered endothelium and mature smooth muscle layer in the modified vascular grafts,accompanied with well-organized extracellular matrix.By contrast,non-modified vascular grafts induced a disorganized tissue formation with a high risk of thrombogenesis.In summary,step-wise modification of CAG@PLys@PDA-Cu^(2+)on micropatterned nanofibers can significantly promote endothelial healing without inflicting thrombosis,thus confirming a novel strategy for developing functional vascular grafts or other blood-contacting materials/devices. | Bingcheng Yi Boya Zhou Zhenfeng Song Lei Yu Wenbo Wang Wei Liu | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,7: | 1 |
