Vitamin C induces periodontal ligament progenitor cell differentiation via activation of ERK pathway mediated by PELP1显示文摘The differentiation of periodontal ligament(PDL)progenitor cells is important for maintaining the homeostasis of PDL tissue and alveolar bone.Vitamin C(VC),a water-soluble nutrient that cannot be biosynthesized by humans,is vital for mesenchymal stem cells differentiation and plays an important role in bone remodeling. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine the function and mechanism of VC in PDL progenitor cells osteogenic differentiation at the molecular level. We demonstrated that VC could induce the osteogenic differentiation and maturation of PDL progenitor cell without other osteogenic agents.During the process,VC preferentially activated ERK1/2 but did not affect JNK or p38.Co-treatment with ERK inhibitor effectively decreased the Vitamin C-induced expression of Runx2.ERK inhibitor also abrogated Vitamin C-induced the minimized nodules formation.PELP1,a nuclear receptor co-regulator,was up-regulated under VC treatment.PELP1 knockdown inhibited ERK phosphorylation. The overexpression of PELP1 had a positive relationship with Runx2 expression.Taken together,we could make a conclude that VC induces the osteogenic differentiation of PDL progenitor cells via PELP1-ERK axis. Our fi nding implies that VC may have a potential in the regeneration medicine and application to periodontitis treatment. | Yan Yan Wenfeng Zeng Shujun Song Fayun Zhang Wenxi He Wei Liang Zhongying Niu | 2013 | Protein & Cell2013,4,8: | 6
Topographic species-habitat associations of tree species in a heterogeneous tropical karst seasonal rain forest, China显示文摘Aims Tropical and subtropical karst forests of south China are under increas-ing pressure from over-exploitation causing widespread habitat degra-dation and biodiversity loss.Previous research has demonstrated that topography,as a proxy for resource availability, plays an important role in shaping tree species distributions in tropical forests. However, the association between growth stages and habitats types has not been considered in this analysis. Our aim was to examine the differences among different habitat types to determine whether tree species show similar species-habitat associations at young and mature life stages. Methods We used multivariate regression tree analysis to examined species-habitat associations among eight topographically defined habitats. The results were tested with a torus-translation test and canonical correspondence analysis(CCA)for 74 species in a 15 ha karst tropi-cal seasonal rain forest at the Nonggang National Natural Reserve in south China. We considered two life stages(young and mature)of trees species that showed a positive association with topography.Important Findings We found marked differences in community characteristics and number of associations among the eight habitats.Of the 74 species subjected to torus-translation test,63 had significant positive and 70 had significant negative associations with one or more of the eight habitats.Positive associations were more frequent in higher elevation habitats and negative associations were more frequent in lower eleva-tion habitats. This suggests that edaphic and hydrological variation related to topography play important roles in habitat partitioning in heterogeneous karst forests. For the 63 tree species with significant positive associations to at least one habitat,40 of them had the same positive association at young and mature life stages. The CCA revealed that the six topographic variables considered had consistent relation-ships with species distribution among all individuals and their two life stages. This indicates that most of the karst forest tree species show consistent associations with a single habitat throughout their life.We conclude that niche differentiation plays an important role in main-taining the diversity of this heterogeneous species-rich karst forest. | Yili Guo Bin Wang Azim U.Mallik Fuzhao Huang Wusheng Xiang Tao Ding Shujun Wen Shuhua Lu Dongxing Li Yunlin He Xiankun Li | 2017 | Journal of Plant Ecology2017,10,3: | 6
A comparative study of hydrothermal aging effect on cerium and lanthanum doped Cu/SSZ-13 catalysts for NH_(3)-SCR显示文摘Ce-or La-doped Cu/SSZ-13 catalysts were prepared by a hydrothermal method and Cu,Ce or La ions were incorporated through stepwise ion exchange,The catalyst activity was measured for the ammonia selective catalytic reduction reaction. The structure and composition of catalyst were characterized by using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry solid-state NMR,NH_(3)-TPD techniques, and the active components were examined by XPS and XANES.The results indicate that the Ce and La doping can both completely preserve the SCR activity of Cu/SSZ-13 above 300℃,but there is also a decrease of activity below 200℃.On the other hand,Ce doping is beneficial to the formation of framework aluminum, stabilizes molecular sieve framework and Cu active sites of Cu/SSZ-13,thereby improves the catalyst hydrothermal stability. But La doping will decrease the amount of framework aluminum and Cu active sites of Cu/SSZ-13 after hydrothermally aging, even destroy zeolite CHA structure. This is quite harmful to the catalyst hydrothermal stability. | Di Deng Shujun Deng Dandan He Zhiheng Wang Zhipeng Chen Yi Ji Guoping Yan Guangjin Hou Licheng Liu Hong He | 2021 | Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,8: | 5

Water cycle evolution in the Haihe River Basin in the past 10000 years显示文摘The water shortage problem in the Haihe River Basin is the most severe in China, and has restricted its economic development. Over-extraction of groundwater has been very severe in the past 30 years. To solve this problem, scientific decisions should be made from a historical perspective. It is important to describe water cycle evolution in the Haihe River basin over the past 10000 years. Datasets of paleoclimate, paleogeography, palynoflora, historical record, isotopic abundance ratio and content were collected for research on different time scales. Some interesting conclusions were drawn by a comprehensive analysis method. First, radiation was the intrinsic force driving the evolution of water cycle. Generally, precipitation increased with temperature. Second, precipitation was high during 8 ka-5 ka B.P., the so-called Yangshao warm period of the Middle Holocene, which recharged the major part of the Quaternary groundwater. Third, heavy floods during this period transported sediment to the seaside, forming the Coastal Plain where cities such as Tianjin, Huanghua, Cangzhou are now located. In the last 3000 years, intermittent moderate floods did not have enough energy to transport sediment to the sea. Rivers usually overflowed in the piedmont region of the Taihang Mountains, and sediment deposited there formed the Piedmont Plain, where locate Shijiazhuang, Xingtai, Handan, Baoding and other cities. Precipitation had a high correlation with temperature in Haihe River Basin in the past 10000 years: the high temperature usually coupled with high precipitation. Today precipitation in the Haihe River Basin is relatively low, owing to low temperature. This study reveals the relationship between temperature, precipitation and river networks in the past 10000 years in Haihe River Basin, which has great scientific and practical importance in understanding the current water circulation and water shortage. | LIU JiaHong XU He QIN DaYong WANG Hao WANG JianHua LI HaiHong BAO ShuJun | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,27: | 3
Finite element analysis of temperature and residual stress profiles of porous cubic Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy by electron beam melting显示文摘The temperature and stress profiles of porous cubic Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy grids by additive manufacturing via electron beam melting(EBM)based on finite element(FE)method were investigated.Three-dimensional FE models were developed to simulate the single-layer and five-layer girds under annular and lateral scanning. The results showed that the molten pool temperature in five-layer girds was higher than that in single-layer grids owing to the larger mass and higher heat capacity.More energies accumulated by the longer scanning time for annular path than lateral path led to the higher temperature and steeper temperature gradient. The thermal stress drastically fluctuated during EBM process and the residual stress decreased with the increase of powder layer where the largest stress appeared at the first layer along the build direction. The stress under lateral scanning was slightly larger but relatively more homogeneous distribution than those under annular scanning. The stress distribution showed anisotropy and the maximum Von Mises stress occurred around the central node. The stress profiles were explained by the temperature fields and grids structure. | Xiaochun He Yang Li Yongjie Bi Xiaomei Liu Bing Zhou Shangzhou Zhang Shujun Li | 2020 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,44,9: | 2

Clinical study of IL-18 and NANOG gene polymorphisms in prostate cancer patients显示文摘Objective Recent studies have shown abnormal expression of NANOG and IL-18 to be related to cancer. However, the molecular mechanism by which IL-18 and NANOG gene polymorphisms are associated with prostate cancer is unclear. In this study, we examined whether IL-18 and NANOG gene polymorphisms and their interaction with prostate cancer-related risk factor are associated with the susceptibility to and clinicopathological development of prostate cancer among Chinese men. Methods Polymorphisms in the NANOG and IL-18 genes were evaluated for susceptibility in 120 patients with prostate cancer. The control group consisted of 125 samples from Chinese men. Genotyping was conducted using Taq Man allelic discrimination assays. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software. Results No association of NANOG and IL-18 gene polymorphisms and overall prostate cancer susceptibility was detected. The IL-18-607 CC genotype was significantly associated with a higher tumor grade(P = 0.025) and stage(P =0.001). The IL-18-137 GG genotype correlated with a higher tumor grade(P = 0.028) and stage(P = 0.008). The IL-18-137 G allele was significantly more frequent in patients with lymph node metastasis(P = 0.035). The IL-18-607 CC genotype was associated with distant metastasis(P = 0.025). However, no significant association was observed between NANOG polymorphisms and any clinicopathological feature. The Cox proportional hazard model showed that tumor grade and stage grouping were independent prognostic factors in IL-18, while IL-18 polymorphism was not. Polymorphism variants in the IL-18(IL-18-607 and IL-18-137) and NANOG(genotypes AC) genes might be associated with a worse prognosis of patients with prostate cancer. Conclusion NANOG may be associated with the early stages of prostate cancer carcinogenesis. IL-18 and NANOG gene polymorphisms may play a major role in the growth, invasion, and metastasis of prostate cancer. | Shaojun Nong Yangbo Guan Zhiwei Wang Zhongqing Wei Yueping Zhang Jian Ni Chongsheng He Limin Ma Shujun Zhou Wenguang Li | 2018 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2018,4,6: | 2
Crucial control measures to contain China's first Delta variant outbreak显示文摘The SARS-C oV-2 B.1.617.2(Delta) variant flared up in late May in Guangzhou,China.Transmission characteristics of Delta variant were analysed for 153 confirmed cases and two complete transmission chains with seven generations were fully presented.A rapid transmission occurred in five generations within10 days. The basic reproduction number(R_0) was 3.60(95% confidence interval:2.50-5.30).After redefining the concept of close contact, the proportion of confirmed cases discovered from close contacts increased from 43% to 100%.With the usage of a yellow health code, the potential exposed individuals were self-motivated to take a nucleic acid test and regained public access with a negative testing result.Facing the massive requirement of screening, novel facilities like makeshift inflatable laboratories were promptly set up as a vital supplement and 17 cases were found, with 1 pre-symptomatic.The dynamic adjustment of these three interventions resulted in the decline of Rt from 5.00 to 1.00 within 9 days.By breaking the transmission chain and eliminating the transmission source through extending the scope of the close-contact tracing,health-code usage and mass testing, the Guangzhou D elta epidemic was effectively contained. | Lei Luo Zifeng Yang Jingyi Liang Yu Ma Hui Wang Chitin Hon Mei Jiang Zhengshi Lin Wenda Guan Zhitong Mai Yongming Li Kailin Mai Zhiqi Zeng Chuanmeizi Tu Jian Song Bin Liu Yong Liu Jianfeng He Huiyuan Li Bosheng Li Hang Dong Yutian Miao Shujun Fan Lirui Fan Xingyi Liang Ke Li Chun Chen Huihong Deng Zhicong Yang Nanshan Zhong | 2022 | National Science Review2022,9,4: | 2
Significant association between IL-18 and OCT4 gene polymorphisms in susceptibility and clinical characteristics of prostate cancer显示文摘Objective Recent studies have shown abnormal expression of octamer-binding transcription factor 4(OCT4) and interleukin-18(IL-18) to be related to cancer. However, the molecular mechanisms by which the IL-18 and OCT4 gene polymorphisms are associated with prostate cancer remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to determine whether the presence of IL-18 and OCT4 polymorphisms were associated with size, grade, tumor, nodes and metastasis(TNM) stage, or survival in patients with prostate cancer. Methods Polymorphisms in OCT4 and IL-18 genes were evaluated to determine susceptibility to prostate cancer in 120 patients. A control group consisted of 125 Chinese participants. Genotyping was performed using TaqMan allelic discrimination assays, and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS. Results No association was found between OCT4 and IL-18 gene polymorphisms and prostate cancer susceptibility. For OCT4 AA and IL-18-607 CC genotypes, there was a significant association with higher tumor grade(P = 0.03 and P = 0.025) and stage(P = 0.04 and P = 0.001). The OCT4 and IL-18-137 GG genotype was correlated with higher tumor grade(P = 0.028) and stage(P = 0.008). Furthermore, OCT4 AA was significantly more frequent in patients with lymph node metastasis(P = 0.02) and distant metastasis(P = 0.01). The Cox proportional hazard model showed that tumor grade and stage grouping were independent prognostic factors but IL-18 and OCT4 polymorphisms were not. Conclusion The OCT4 gene may have a profound effect on prostate cancer risk. | 12 | Coronavirus disease 2019 epidemic prediction in Shanghai under the “dynamic zero-COVID policy”using time-dependent SEAIQR model显示文摘It’s urgently needed to assess the COVID-19 epidemic under the“dynamic zero-COVID policy”in China, which provides a scientific basis for evaluating the effectiveness of this strategy in COVID-19 control. Here,we developed a time-dependent susceptible-exposed-asymptomatic-infected-quarantined-remov ed(SEAIQR)model with stage-specific interventions based on recent Shanghai epidemic data, considering a large number of asymptomatic infectious, the changing parameters, and control procedures. The data collected from March 1st,2022 to April 15th,2022 were used to fit the model, and the data of subsequent 7 days and 14 days were used to evaluate the model performance of forecasting. We then calculated the effective regeneration number(Rt)and analyzed the sensitivity of different measures scenarios.Asymptomatic infectious accounts for the vast majority of the outbreaks in Shanghai, and Pudong is the district with the most positive cases. The peak of newly confirmed cases and newly asymptomatic infectious predicted by the SEAIQR model would appear on April 13th,2022,with 1963 and 28,502 cases, respectively, and zero community transmission may be achieved in early to mid-May.The prediction errors for newly confirmed cases were considered to be reasonable, and newly asymptomatic infectious were considered to be good between April 16th to 22nd and reasonable between April 16th to 29th.The final ranges of cumulative confirmed cases and cumulative asymptomatic infectious predicted in this round of the epidemic were 26,477~47,749 and 402,254~730,176,respectively.At the beginning of the outbreak,Rt was 6.69.Since the implementation of comprehensive control,Rt showed a gradual downward trend, dropping to below 1.0 on April 15th,2022.With the early implementation of control measures and the improvement of quarantine rate, recovery rate, and immunity threshold, the peak number of infections will continue to decrease, whereas the earlier the control is implemented, the earlier the turning point of the epidemic will arrive. The proposed time-dependent SEAIQR dynamic model fits and forecasts the epidemic well, which can provide a reference for decision making of the“dynamic zero-COVID policy”. | Yifei Ma Shujun Xu Qi An Mengxia Qin Sitian Li Kangkang Lu Jiantao Li Lijian Lei Lu He Hongmei Yu Jun Xie | 2022 | Journal of Biosafety and Biosecurity2022,4,2: | 1

Auxin signaling module OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF regulates grain yield traits in rice显示文摘Auxin is an important phytohormone in plants, and auxin signaling pathways in rice play key roles in regulating its growth, development, and productivity. To investigate how rice grain yield traits are regulated by auxin signaling pathways and to facilitate their application in rice improvement, we validated the functional relationships among regulatory genes such as OsIAA10, OsSK41, and OsARF21 that are involved in one of the auxin(OsIAA10) signaling pathways. We assessed the phenotypic effects of these genes on several grain yield traits across two environments using knockout and/or overexpression transgenic lines.Based on the results, we constructed a model that showed how grain yield traits were regulated by OsIAA10 and OsTIR1, OsAFB2, and OsSK41 and OsmiR393 in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module and by OsARF21 in the transcriptional regulation of downstream auxin response genes in the OsSK41-OsIAA10-OsARF module. The population genomic analyses revealed rich genetic diversity and the presence of major functional alleles at most of these loci in rice populations. The strong differentiation of many major alleles between Xian/indica and Geng/japonica subspecies and/or among modern varieties and landraces suggested that they contributed to improved productivity during evolution and breeding. We identified several important aspects associated with the genetic and molecular bases of rice grain and yield traits that were regulated by auxin signaling pathways. We also suggested rice auxin response factor(OsARF) activators as candidate target genes for improving specific target traits by overexpression and/or editing subspecies-specific alleles and by searching and pyramiding the ‘best' gene allelic combinations at multiple regulatory genes in auxin signaling pathways in rice breeding programs. | Fuying Ma Fan Zhang Yu Zhu Dengyong Lan Peiwen Yan Ying Wang Zejun Hu Xinwei Zhang Jian Hu Fuan Niu Mingyu Liu Shicong He Jinhao Cui Xinyu Yuan Ying Yan Shujun Wu Liming Cao Hongwu Bian Jinshui Yang Zhikang Li Xiaojin Luo | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,7: | 1

Iron-doxorubicin prodrug loaded liposome nanogenerator programs multimodal ferroptosis for efficient cancer therapy显示文摘Ferroptosis is a new mode of cell death, which can be induced by Fenton reactionmediated lipid peroxidation. However, the insufficient H2O2 and high GSH in tumor cells restrict the efficiency of Fenton reaction-dependent ferroptosis.Herein,a self-supplying lipid peroxide nanoreactor was developed to co-delivery of doxorubicin(DOX),iron and unsaturated lipid for efficient ferroptosis.By leveraging the coordination effect between DOX and Fe3+,trisulfide bond-bridged DOX dimeric prodrug was actively loaded into the core of the unsaturated lipids-rich liposome via iron ion gradient method.First,Fe3+could react with the overexpressed GSH in tumor cells, inducing the GSH depletion and Fe2+generation.Second,the cleavage of trisulfide bond could also consume GSH,and the released DOX induces the generation of H2O2,which would react with the generated Fe2+in step one to induce efficient Fenton reaction-dependent ferroptosis.Third, the formed Fe3+/Fe2+couple could directly catalyze peroxidation of unsaturated lipids to boost Fenton reaction-independent ferroptosis. This iron-prodrug liposome nanoreactor precisely programs multimodal ferroptosis by integrating GSH depletion,ROS generation and lipid peroxidation, providing new sights for efficient cancer therapy. | Yinxian Yang Shiyi Zuo Linxiao Li Xiao Kuang Jinbo Li Bingjun Sun Shujun Wang Zhonggui He Jin Sun | 2021 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2021,16,6: | 1
| 20 | Feasibility and physics potential of detecting ^(8)B solar neutrinos at JUNO显示文摘The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector. Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements, such as its low-energy threshold, high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors, and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors. In this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable, assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/g.With ten years of data acquisition, approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected. This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter, which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework.IfDelta m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle. Moreover,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better, depending on the central value, and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND experiment.
