| 1 | Mapping wetland changes in China between 1978 and 2008显示文摘Four wetland maps for all China have been produced,based on Landsat and CBERS-02B remote sensing data between 1978 and 2008 (1978,1990,2000 and 2008).These maps were mainly developed by manual interpretation and validated by substantial field investigation in 2009.Based on these maps,we analyzed the 2008 wetland distribution in China and discussed wetland changes and their drivers over the past 30 years.(i) There were about 324097 km 2 of wetlands in 2008,for which inland marshes or swamps were the most common wetland type (35%),with lakes (26%) second.Most of the wetlands were in Heilongjiang,Inner Mongolia,Qinghai and Tibet,occupying about 55% of the national wetland area.(ii) From 1978 to 2008,China's wetland area continually and significantly decreased,by about 33% based on changes in the wetland map.This was in sharp contrast to the increase in artificial wetlands,which increased by about 122%.Inland marshes accounted for the main loss of total wetlands from 1978 to 2000.From 2000 through 2008,riverine and lacustrine wetlands constituted the main wetland loss.Fortunately however,the rate of wetland loss decreased from 5523 to 831 km 2 /a.(iii) The change ratio of lost natural wetlands (including inland and coastal wetlands) to non-wetlands has decreased slightly over the past 30 years.From 1978 to 1990,nearly all natural wetlands (98%) lost were transformed into non-wetlands.However,the ratio declined to 86% from 1990 to 2000,and to 77% from 2000 to 2008.(iv) All Chinese provinces were divided into three groups according to patterns of wetland changes,which could relate to the driving forces of such changes.Tibet was completely different from other provinces,as it was one representative example in which there was a net wetland increase,because of global warming and decreased human activity since 1990.Increased economic development caused considerable wetland loss in most eastern provinces,and artificial wetlands increased. | NIU ZhenGuo ZHANG HaiYing WANG XianWei YAO WenBo ZHOU DeMin ZHAO KuiYi ZHAO Hui LI NaNa HUANG HuaBing LI CongCong YANG Jun LIU CaiXia LIU Shuang WANG Lin LI Zhan YANG ZhenZhong QIAO Fei ZHENG YaoMin CHEN YanLei SHENG YongWei GAO XiaoHong ZHU WeiHong WANG WenQing WANG Hong WENG YongLing ZHUANG DaFang LIU JiYuan LUO ZhiCai CHENG Xiao GUO ZiQi GONG Peng | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,22: | 51 |
| 2 | Effect of permafrost degradation on hydrological processes in typical basins with various permafrost coverage in Western China显示文摘Monthly discharge of four rivers with various permafrost coverage and little anthropogenic influence was used to identify effects of permafrost degradation during the last 50 years,which has occurred because of significant increases in air temperature in the river regions.The basins of the Shule,Heihe,Shiyang and upper Yellow Rivers in northwestern China have 73%,58%,33% and 43% permafrost coverage,respectively.There is snow cover in the basins and no rain to supply rivers during winter. The monthly recession coefficient(RC) in winter reflects groundwater conditions.The RC has increased obviously for the Shule and Heihe rivers with 73% and 58% permafrost coverage,respectively,but did not increase for the Shiyang River,and decreased insignificantly for the upper Yellow River,which had less permafrost coverage.There is a distinct positive relationship between RC and annual negative degree-day temperature(NDDT) at the meteorological stations in the basins with high permafrost coverage.These results imply that permafrost degradation due to climate warming affects hydrological processes in winter.The effect is obvious in the basins with high permafrost coverage but negligible in those with low permafrost coverage. | 3 | Measurement-device-independent quantum communication without encryption显示文摘Security in communication is vital in modern life. At present, security is realized by an encryption process in cryptography. It is unbelievable if a secure communication is achievable without encryption. In quantum cryptography, there is a unique form of quantum communication, quantum secure direct communication, where secret information is transmitted directly over a quantum channel. Quantum secure direct communication is drastically distinct from our conventional concept of secure communication, because it does not require key distribution, key storage and ciphertext transmission, and eliminates the encryption procedure completely. Hence it avoids in principle all the security loopholes associated with key and ciphertext in traditional secure communications. For practical implementation, defects always exist in real devices and it may downgrade the security. Among the various device imperfections, those with the measurement devices are the most prominent and serious ones. Here we report a measurementdevice-independent quantum secure direct communication protocol using Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen pairs. This protocol eradicates the security vulnerabilities associated with the measurement device,and greatly enhances the practical security of quantum secure direct communication. | 4 | Energy-Optimal and Delay-Bounded Computation Offloading in Mobile Edge Computing with Heterogeneous Clouds显示文摘By Mobile Edge Computing(MEC), computation-intensive tasks are offloaded from mobile devices to cloud servers, and thus the energy consumption of mobile devices can be notably reduced. In this paper, we study task offloading in multi-user MEC systems with heterogeneous clouds, including edge clouds and remote clouds. Tasks are forwarded from mobile devices to edge clouds via wireless channels, and they can be further forwarded to remote clouds via the Internet. Our objective is to minimize the total energy consumption of multiple mobile devices, subject to bounded-delay requirements of tasks. Based on dynamic programming, we propose an algorithm that minimizes the energy consumption, by jointly allocating bandwidth and computational resources to mobile devices. The algorithm is of pseudo-polynomial complexity. To further reduce the complexity, we propose an approximation algorithm with energy discretization, and its total energy consumption is proved to be within a bounded gap from the optimum. | 5 | Quantitative computed tomography analysis for stratifying the severity of Coronavirus Disease 2019显示文摘To examine the feasibility of using a computer tool for stratifying the severity of Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19)based on computed tomography(CT)images.We retrospectively examined 44 confirmed COVID-19 cases.All cases were evaluated separately by radiologists(visually)and through an in-house computer software.The degree of lesions was visually scored by the radiologist,as follows,for each of the 5 lung lobes:0,no lesion present;1,<1/3 involvement;2,>1/3 and<2/3 involvement;and 3,>2/3 involvement.Lesion density was assessed based on the proportion of ground-glass opacity(GGO),consolidation and fibrosis of the lesions.The parameters obtained using the computer tool included lung volume(mL),lesion volume(mL),lesion percentage(%),and mean lesion density(HU)of the whole lung,right lung,left lung,and each lobe.The scores obtained by the radiologists and quantitative results generated by the computer software were tested for correlation.A Chi-square test was used to test the consistency of radiologist-and computer-derived lesion percentage in the right/left lung,upper/lower lobe,and each of the 5 lobes.The results showed a strong to moderate correlation between lesion percentage scores obtained by radiologists and the computer software(r ranged from 0.7679 to 0.8373,P<0.05),and a moderate correlation between the proportion of GGO and mean lesion density(r=-0.5894,P<0.05),and proportion of consolidation and mean lesion density(r=0.6282,P<0.05).Computer-aided quantification showed a statistical significant higher lesion percentage for lower lobes than that assessed by the radiologists(x^2=8.160,P=0.004).Our experiments demonstrated that the computer tool could reliably and accurately assess the severity and distribution of pneumonia on CT scans. | Cong Shen Nan Yu Shubo Cai Jie Zhou Jiexin Sheng Kang Liu Heping Zhou Youmin Guo Gang Niu | 2020 | Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2020,10,2: | 13 |
| 6 | Viral and Bacterial Etiology of Acute Febrile Respiratory Syndrome among Patients in Qinghai, China显示文摘Objective This study was conducted to investigate the viral and bacterial etiology and epidemiology of patients with acute febrile respiratory syndrome(AFRS) in Qinghai using a commercial routine multiplex-ligation-nucleic acid amplification test(NAT)-based assay. Methods A total of 445 nasopharyngeal swabs specimens from patients with AFRS were analyzed using the RespiFinderSmart22 kit(PathoFinder BV, Netherlands) and the LightCycler 480 real-time PCR system. Results Among the 225(225/445, 51%) positive specimens, 329 positive pathogens were detected, including 298(90.58%) viruses and 31(9%) bacteria. The most commonly detected pathogens were influenza virus(IFV;37.39%;123/329), adenovirus(AdV;17.02%;56/329), human coronaviruses(HCoVs;10.94%;36/329), rhinovirus/enterovirus(RV/EV;10.03%;33/329), parainfluenza viruses(PIVs;8.51%;28/329), and Mycoplasma pneumoniae(M. pneu;8.51%;28/329), respectively. Among the co-infected cases(17.53%;78/445), IFV/AdV and IFV/M. pneu were the most common co-infections. Most of the respiratory viruses were detected in summer and fall. Conclusion In our study, IFV-A was the most common respiratory pathogen among 22 detected pathogens, followed by AdV, HCoV, RV/EV, PIV, and M. pneu. Bacteria appeared less frequently than viruses, and co-infection was the most common phenomenon among viral pathogens. Pathogens were distributed among different age groups and respiratory viruses were generally active in July, September, and November. | 8 | Genetic dissection of rice appearance quality and cooked rice elongation by genome-wide association study显示文摘Appearance and cooked rice elongation are key quality traits of rice. Although some QTL for these traits have been identified, understanding of the genetic relationship between them remains limited. In the present study, large phenotypic variation was observed in 760 accessions from the 3 K Rice Genomes Project for both appearance quality and cooked rice elongation. Most component traits of appearance quality and cooked rice elongation showed significant pairwise correlations, but a low correlation was found between appearance quality and cooked rice elongation. A genome-wide association study identified 74 QTL distributed on all 12 chromosomes for grain length, grain width, length to width ratio, degree of endosperm with chalkiness, rice elongation difference, and elongation index. Thirteen regions containing QTL stably expressed in multiple environments and/or exerting pleiotropic effects on multiple traits were detected. By gene-based association analysis and haplotype analysis, 46 candidate genes, including five cloned genes, and 49 favorable alleles were identified for these 13 QTL. The effect of the candidate gene Wx on rice elongation difference was validated by a transgenic strategy. | 12 | Phosphine production in anaerobic wastewater treatment under tetracycline antibiotic pressure显示文摘The influence of tetracycline(TC) antibiotics on phosphine(PH_3) production in the anaerobic wastewater treatment was studied. A lab-scale anaerobic baffled reactor with three compartments was employed to simulate this process. The reactor was operated in a TC-absence wastewater and 250 μg/L TC-presence wastewater for three months after a start-up period,respectively. The responses of p H, oxidation–reduction potential(ORP), chemical oxygen demand(COD), total phosphorus(TP), enzymes activity(dehydrogenase and acid phosphatase),and microbial community were investigated to reveal the effect of TC on PH_3 production.Results suggested that the dehydrogenase(DH) activity, acid phosphatase(ACP) activity and COD have positive relationship with PH_3 production, while p H, ORP level and the TP in liquid phase have negative relationship with PH_3 production. | 17 | Scheduling Policies for Federated Learning in Wireless Networks: An Overview显示文摘Due to the increasing need for massive data analysis and machine learning model training at the network edge, as well as the rising concerns about data privacy, a new distrib?uted training framework called federated learning (FL) has emerged and attracted much at?tention from both academia and industry. In FL, participating devices iteratively update the local models based on their own data and contribute to the global training by uploading mod?el updates until the training converges. Therefore, the computation capabilities of mobile de?vices can be utilized and the data privacy can be preserved. However, deploying FL in re?source-constrained wireless networks encounters several challenges, including the limited energy of mobile devices, weak onboard computing capability, and scarce wireless band?width. To address these challenges, recent solutions have been proposed to maximize the convergence rate or minimize the energy consumption under heterogeneous constraints. In this overview, we first introduce the backgrounds and fundamentals of FL. Then, the key challenges in deploying FL in wireless networks are discussed, and several existing solu?tions are reviewed. In this work, APP knockout mouse embryo fibroblast (MEF) cells were used to test if APP plays any role in maintaining the mitochondrial function. As the result, APP knockout MEF cells (APP-/- cells) showed the abnormal mitochondrial function, including slower cell proliferation, lower mitochondrial membrane potential, lower intracellular ROS, higher mitochondrial membrane fluidity and lower cytochrome c oxidase activity than their wild-type counterparts. | 20 | High-efficient crystal particle manufacture by microscale process intensification technology显示文摘High-end crystal manufacture has drawn a permanent concern on the high-efficient manufacture of crystal particles,especially in fine chemical,pharmaceutical,electronics,biological and relative engineering fields.In recent years,a series of microscale process intensification(MPI)technologies have been widely used in crystal particles preparation via addressing the control of nucleation and growth process.Herein,we review the research progresses of microscale process intensification technology from three aspects,microfluidics devices,microscale force field technology and membrane-based microchannels and interface transfer process.Firstly,the principle of microfluidic and relative microscale device on improving micro-mixing and mass transfer are briefly described.The advantage of microfluidic in continuous nano particle preparation is outlined.Microscale external force field(ultrasonic,high-gravity,electric and magnetic fields)is then introduced as another novel approach for ultrafine nanoparticles and continuous drug crystallization process.Further,in view of the micro-scale intensified mass transfer and microscale interfacial force field established on membrane technology,the basic mechanism of membrane crystallization(microscale 2D supersaturation degree control,auto seed detachment,microporous membrane dispersion,etc.)is reviewed.The process coupling and design strategy aiming for enhancing the manufacture capacity is also illustrated.Finally,the developing tendency and key challenges of high-efficient crystal particle preparation technology via microscale processes are overviewed. | Yuchao Niu Shaofu Du Lei Sheng Wu Xiao Xiaobin Jiang Gaohong He | 2021 | Green Chemical Engineering2021,2,1: | 2 |
