1Elevated plasma levels of selective cytokines in COVID-19 patients reflect viral load and lung injury显示文摘A recent outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan,China was found to be caused by a 2019 novel coronavirus(2019-nCoV or SARS-CoV-2 or HCoV-19).We previously reported the clinical features of 12 patients with2019-n Co V infections in Shenzhen,China.To further understand the pathogenesis of COVID-19 and find better ways to monitor and treat the disease caused by 2019-n Co V,we measured the levels of 48 cytokines in the blood plasma of those 12 COVID-19 patients.Thirty-eight out of the 48 measured cytokines in the plasma of 2019-n Co V-infected patients were significantly elevated compared to healthy individuals.Seventeen cytokines were linked to 2019-nCoV loads.Fifteen cytokines,namely M-CSF,IL-10,IFN-α2,IL-17,IL-4,IP-10,IL-7,IL-1 ra,G-CSF,IL-12,IFN-γ,IL-1α,IL-2,HGF and PDGF-BB,were strongly associated with the lung-injury Murray score and could be used to predict the disease severity of2019-n Co V infections by calculating the area under the curve of the receiver-operating characteristics.Our results suggest that 2019-nCoV infections trigger extensive changes in a wide array of cytokines,some of which could be potential biomarkers of disease severity of 2019-n Co V infections.These findings will likely improve our understanding of the immunopathologic mechanisms of this emerging disease.Our results also suggest that modulators of cytokine responses may play a therapeutic role in combating the disease once the functions of these elevated cytokines have been characterized.Yingxia Liu Cong Zhang Fengming Huang Yang Yang Fuxiang Wang Jing Yuan Zheng Zhang Yuhao Qin Xiaoyun Li Dandan Zhao Shunwang Li Shuguang Tan Zhaoqin Wang Jinxiu Li Chenguang Shen Jianming Li Ling Peng Weibo Wu Mengli Cao Li Xing Zhixiang Xu Li Chen Congzhao Zhou William J Liu Lei Liu Chengyu Jiang 2020National Science Review2020,7,6:6

6MiR146a-loaded engineered exosomes released from silk fibroin patch promote diabetic wound healing by targeting IRAK1显示文摘Unhealable diabetic wounds need to be addressed with the help of newer,more efficacious strategies.Exosomes combined with biomaterials for sustained delivery of therapeutic agents are expected to bring new hope for chronic wound treatment.Here,the engineered exosomes modified for efficiently loading miR146a and attaching to silk fibroin patch(SFP)were demonstrated to promote diabetic wound healing.Silk fibroin binding peptide(SFBP)was screened through phage display,and SFBP-Gluc-MS2(SGM)and pac-miR146a-pac fusion protein were constructed.The designed exosomes(SGM-Exos,miR146a-Exos,and SGM-miR146a-Exos)were isolated from the engineered placental mesenchymal stem cells(PMSCs)transduced with SGM or/and pac-miR146a-pac protein.Gluc signals indicated SGM-Exo@SFP markedly increased the binding rate and the stability of SGM-Exo.Moreover,the loading efficiency of miR146a in SGM-miR146a-Exos was ten-fold higher than that in miR146a-Exos.Superior to untreated,SGM-miR146a-Exo-only treated,and SFP-only treated groups,SGM-miR146a-Exo@SFP drived wound healing associated with less inflammation,collagen deposition,and neovascularization.The transcriptomics analysis suggested anti-inflammatory and regenerative effects with SGM-miR146a-Exo@SFP treatment.Here,we show efficient exosome@biomaterial-based miRNA delivery systems for regenerative medicine and tissue engineering.Qiankun Li Wenzhi Hu Qilin Huang Jie Yang Bingmin Li Kui Ma Qian Wei Yaxi Wang Jianlong Su Mengli Sun Shengnan Cui Rungong Yang Haihong Li Xiaobing Fu Cuiping Zhang 2023Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,3:2
7Thermocline Model for Estimating Argo Sea Surface Temperature Thermocline Model for Estimating Argo Sea Surface Temperature显示文摘Argo has become an important constituent of the global ocean observation system.However,due to the lack of sea surface measurements from most Argo profiles,the application of Argo data is still limited.In this study,a thermocline model was constructed based on three key thermocline parameters,i.e,thermocline upper depth,the thermocline bottom depth,and thermocline temperature gradient.Following the model,we estimated the sea surface temperature of Argo profiles by providing the relationship between sea surface and subsurface temperature.We tested the effectiveness of our proposed model using statistical analysis and by comparing the sea surface temperature with the results obtained from traditional methods and in situ observations in the Pacific Ocean.The root mean square errors of results obtained from thermocline model were found to be significantly reduced compared to the extrapolation results and satellite retrieved temperature results.The correlation coefficient between the estimation result and in situ observation was 0.967.Argo surface temperature,estimated by the thermocline model,has been theoretically proved to be reliable.Thus,our model generates theoretically feasible data present the mesoscale phenomenon in more detail.Overall,this study compensates for the lack surface observation of Argo,and provides a new tool to establish complete Argo data sets.Chunling Zhang Mengli Zhang Zhenfeng Wang Song Hu Danyang Wang Shenglong Yang 2022Sustainable Marine Structures2022,4,1:1

10Growth substrates alter aboveground plant microbial and metabolic properties thereby influencing insect herbivore performance显示文摘The gut microbiome of plant-eaters is affected by the food they eat,but it is currently unclear how the plant metabolome and microbiome are influenced by the substrate the plant grows in and how this subsequently impacts the feeding behavior and gut microbiomes of insect herbivores.Here,we use Plutella xylostella caterpillars and show that the larvae prefer leaves of cabbage plants growing in a vermiculite substrate to those from plants growing in conventional soil systems.From a plant metabolomics analysis,we identified 20 plant metabolites that were related to caterpillar feeding performance.In a bioassay,the effects of these plant metabolites on insects'feeding were tested.Nitrate and compounds enriched with leaves of soilless cultivation promoted the feeding of insects,while compounds enriched with leaves of plants growing in natural soil decreased feeding.Several microbial groups(e.g.,Sporolactobacillus,Haliangium)detected inside the plant correlated with caterpillar feeding performance and other microbial groups,such as Ramlibacter and Methylophilus,correlated with the gut microbiome.Our results highlight the role of growth substrates on the food metabolome and microbiome and on the feeding performance and the gut microbiome of plant feeders.It illustrates how belowground factors can influence the aboveground properties of plant-animal systems,which has important implications for plant growth and pest control.Jun Yuan Tao Wen Shengdie Yang Chao Zhang Mengli Zhao Guoqing Niu Penghao Xie Xiaoyu Liu Xinyuan Zhao Qirong Shen T.Martijn Bezemer 2023Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,8:0

16A facile construction of heterostructured ZnO/Co_(3)O_(4) mesoporous spheres and superior acetone sensing performance显示文摘The rapid development of internet and internet of things brings new opportunities for the expansion of intelligent sensors,and acetone as a major disease detection indicator(i.e.,diabetes)making it become extremely important clinical indicator.Herein,uniform mesoporous ZnO spheres were successfully synthesized via novel formaldehyde-assisted metal-ligand crosslinking strategy.In order to adjust the pore structure of mesoporous ZnO,various mesoporous ZnO spheres were synthesized by changing weight percentage of Zn(NO_(3))_(2)·6 H_(2)O to tannic acid(TA).Moreover,highly active heterojunction mesoporous ZnO/Co_(3)O_(4)has been fabricated based on as-prepared ultra-small Co_(3)O_(4)nanocrystals(ca.3 nm)and mesoporous ZnO spheres by flexible impregnation technique.Profit from nano-size effect and synergistic effect of p-n heterojunction,mesoporous ZnO/Co_(3)O_(4)exhibited excellent acetone sensing performance with high selectivity,superior sensitivity and responsiveness.Typically,5 wt%Co_(3)O_(4)embedded mesoporous ZnO sphere showed prominent acetone response(ca.46 for 50 ppm),which was about 11.5 times higher than that in pure ZnO sensing device,and it was also endowed high cyclic stability.The nanocrystals embedded hybrid material is expected to be used as promising efficient material in the field of catalysis and gas sensing.Mengli Lei Xinran Zhou Yidong Zou Junhao Ma Fahad AAlharthi Abdulaziz Alghamdi Xuanyu Yang Yonghui Deng 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,6:0
