| 1 | Simulation of phase transition process using lattice Boltzmann method显示文摘A new lattice Boltzmann model based on SC model, is proposed to describe the liquid-vapor phase transitions. The new model is validated through the simulation of the one-component phase transition process. Compared with the simulation results of van der Waals gas and the Maxwell equal-area construction, the results of the new model have a better agreement with the analytical solutions than those of SC and Zhang models. Since the obtained temperature range and the maximum density ratio in this model are expanded, and the magnitude of maximum spurious current is only between those of SC and Zhang models, it is believed that this new model has better stability than SC and Zhang models. Consequently, the application scope of this new model is expanded compared with the existing phase transition models. According to the principle of the corresponding states in engineering thermodynamics, the simulations of ammonia and water phase transition process were implemented using this new model with different equations of state. Compared with the experimental data of ammonia and water, the results show that the Peng-Robinson is the best equation of state to describe the phase transition process of ammonia and water. Especially, the simulation results of ammonia with Peng-Robinson equation of state have an excellent agreement with its experimental data. | 2 | Molecular Cytogenetic Characterization of a Wheat-Leymus mollis 3D(3Ns) Substitution Line with Resistance to Leaf Rust显示文摘Leymus mollis(Trin.)Pilger(NsNsXmXm,2n?28),a wild relative of common wheat,possesses many potentially valuable traits that could be transferred to common wheat during breeding programs.In this study,the karyotypic constitution of a wheat e L.mollis 3D(3Ns#1)disomic substitution line isolated from the F5progeny of octoploid Tritileymus M842-16 Triticum durum cv.D4286,which was designated as 10DM57,was determined using genomic in situ hybridization(GISH),fluorescent in situ hybridization(FISH),SSR markers,and ESTSTS markers.Screening of mitosis and meiosis showed that 10DM57 had a chromosome karyotype of 2n?42?21II.GISH indicated that10DM57 was a line with 40 chromosomes from wheat and two of the Ns chromosomes from L.mollis,which formed a ring bivalent in pollen mother cells at metaphase I.FISH analysis showed that the chromosome 3D may be replaced by 3Ns#1 in 10DM57.DNA markers,including SSR and EST-STS primers,showed that the pair of wheat chromosome 3D in 10DM57 was substituted by the pair of chromosome 3Ns#1from L.mollis.Evaluation of the agronomic traits showed that,compared with its common wheat relative 7182,10DM57 was resistant to leaf rust while the spike length and number of spikes per plant were improved significantly,which correlated with a higher wheat yield.The new germplasm,10DM57,could be exploited as an intermediate material in wheat genetic and breeding programs. | Yuhui Pang Xinhong Chen Jixin Zhao Wanli Du Xueni Cheng Jun Wu Yanli Li Liangming Wang Jing Wang Qunhui Yang | 2014 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2014,41,4: | 6 |
| 3 | Hydrogel Microneedle Arrays for Transdermal Drug Delivery显示文摘Stratum corneum is the main obstacle for drugs to pass through the skin. Microneedles are composed of arrays of micro-projections formed with different materials, generally ranging from 25-2000 μm in height. Microneedles straightly pierce the skin with its short needle arrays to overcome this barrier. Microneedles can be divided into several categories, for instance, solid microneedles, coated microneedles, and hollow microneedles and so on. However, all these types have their weak points related to corresponding mechanisms.In recent years, pioneering scientists have been working on these issues and some possible solutions have been investigated. This article will focus on the microneedle arrays consisting of hydrogels. Hydrogels are commonly used in drug delivery field. Hydrogel microneedles can be further divided into dissolving and degradable microneedles and phase transition microneedles. The former leaves drug with matrix in the skin. The latter has the feature that drugs in the matrix are delivered while the remaining ingredients can be easily removed from the skin after usage. For drugs which are required to be used every day, the phase transition microneedles are more acceptable. | 11 | Numerical simulation of a thermal-bubble actuated diffuser-nozzle valveless pump显示文摘A valveless micropump actuated by thermal bubbles which are generated by an electrode heater mounted with a pair of diffuser nozzles has been numerically studied by commercial CFD software FLUENT. The relationships between the net flow rate and the superheating and heat supplying frequency have been investigated. The depth of the diffuser-nozzle micropump is 200 μm, the diameter of the actuating chamber is 1 mm, and a pair of diffuser nozzles whose gap has been expanded from 30 μm to 274 μm with an open angle of 7° are connected to the actuating chamber. The working fluid is methanol. In the numerical simulation, the flow pattern is laminar. The results show that the pump has different optimal driving frequencies at different superheating. A cycle resulting from bubble growth and shrinking costs more time at higher superheating temperature; different superheating has different optimal driving frequency; when the superheating increases, the maximum volume flow rate and the maximum pump pressure will increase simultaneously, and the optimal driving frequency decreases as well, the maximum volume flow rate and pump pressure also have the same tendency; in the condition of uncontrolled condensing, the bubble shrinking process is longer than the growth process, thus it is the determining factor to affect the pump performance. The maximum volume flow rate is 9.02 μL/min at △T = 15℃, and the maximum pump pressure is 680 Pa. | 13 | Genetic dissection of top three leaf traits in rice using progenies from a japonica × indica cross显示文摘The size of the top three leaves of rice plants is strongly associated with yield; thus, it is important to consider quantitative traits representing leaf size(e.g.,length and width) when breeding novel rice varieties.It is challenging to measure such traits on a large scale in the field, and little is known about the genetic factors that determine the size of the top three leaves. In the present study, a population of recombinant inbred lines(RILs) and reciprocal single chromosomal segment substitution lines(SSSLs) derived from the progeny of a japonica Asominori ? indica IR24 cross were grown under four diverse environmental conditions. Six morphological traits associated with leaf size were measured,namely length and width of the flag, second and third leaves. In the RIL population, 49 QTLs were identified that clustered in 30 genomic region. Twenty-three of these QTLs were confirmed in the SSSL population. A comparison with previously reported genes/QTLs revealed eight novel genomic regions that contained uncharacterized ORFs associated with leaf size. | 18 | Tetrapyrrole biosynthesis pathway regulates plastid-to-nucleus signaling by controlling plastid gene expression in plants显示文摘Plastid-to-nucleus retrograde signaling coordinates nuclear gene expression with chloroplast developmental status and is essential for the photoautotrophic lifestyle of plants.Previous studies have established that tetrapyrrole biosynthesis(TPB)and plastid gene expression(PGE)play essential roles in plastid retrograde signaling during early chloroplast biogenesis;however,their functional relationship remains unknown.In this study,we generated a series of rice TPB-related gun(genome uncoupled)mutants and systematically analyzed their effects on nuclear and plastid gene expression under normal conditions or when subjected to treatments with norflurazon(NF;a noncompetitive inhibitor of carotenoid biosynthesis)and/or lincomycin(Lin;a specific inhibitor of plastid translation).We show that under NF treatment,expression of plastid-encoded polymerase(PEP)-transcribed genes is significantly reduced in the wild type but is derepressed in the TPB-related gun mutants.We further demonstrate that the derepressed expression of PEPtranscribed genes may be caused by increased expression of the PEP core subunit and nuclear-encoded sigma factors and by elevated copy numbers of plastid genome per haploid genome.In addition,we show that expression of photosynthesis-associated nuclear genes(PhANGs)and PEP-transcribed genes is correlated in the rice TPB-related gun mutants,with or without NF or Lin treatment.A similar correlation between PhANGs and PGE is also observed in the Arabidopsis gun4 and gun5 mutants.Moreover,we show that increased expression of PEP-transcribed plastid genes is necessary for the gun phenotype in NF-treated TPB-related gun mutants.Further,we provide evidence that these TPB-related GUN genes act upstream of GUN1 in the regulation of retrograde signaling.Taken together,our results suggest that the TPB-related GUN genes control retrograde plastid signaling by regulating the PGE-dependent retrograde signaling pathway. | Yunlong Wang Yihua Wang Xiaopin Zhu Yulong Ren Hui Dong Erchao Duan Xuan Teng Huanhuan Zhao Rongbo Chen Xiaoli Chen Jie Lei Hang Yang Yunlu Tian Liangming Chen Xi Liu Shijia Liu Ling Jiang Haiyang Wang Jianmin Wan | 2023 | Plant Communications2023,4,1: | 0 |

| 20 | A maximum entropy distribution for wave heights of non-linear sea waves显示文摘Based on the maximum entropy principle,a probability density function (PDF) for the zero-crossing wave height (H) of random waves is derived as the simple form fn(H)=αHγe-βHn (n is a selectable positive integer) through solving a variational problem subject to some quite general constraints. This PDF maximizes the information entropy of H, and its parameters α, γ and β are expressed explicitly in terms of the distribution moments m, m=1,2,…,n, so it is well competent for describing the distribution of H of nonlinear sea waves with large uncertainty, and its parameters can be simply determined from available data.
