| 1 | Characteristics of one-year observation of VOCs,NOx, and O_3 at an urban site in Wuhan, China显示文摘A continuous online observation of ozone and its precursors(NOx, VOCs) was carried out in central urban Wuhan from September 2016 to August 2017. The concentration levels of ozone,NOx, VOCs and their variations in urban Wuhan were analyzed, as well as effects of VOCs on ozone photochemical generation and the main controlling factors for ozone production. During the observation period, the average concentrations of ozone and NOx in Wuhan was 22.63 and30.14 ppbv, respectively, and the average concentration of VOCs was 32.61 ppbv(42.3% alkanes,13.0% alkenes, 10.0% aromatics, 7.3% acetylene, 9.9% OVOCs, and 10.5% halohydrocarbons).Ozone concentration was higher in spring and summer as compared with autumn and winter,wheras VOCs and NOx concentratios were lower in spring and summer but higher in autumn and winter. Aromatics and alkenes, two of VOCs species, showed the highest contributions to ozone formation potential in Wuhan(35.7% alkenes, 35.4 aromatics, 17.5% alkanes, 8.6% OVOCs,1.6% halogenated hydrocarbons, and 1.4% acetylene). Among all VOCs species, those with the highest contribution were ethylene, m-xylene, toluene, propylene and o-xylene. | 2 | Chemical characterization of size-resolved aerosols in four seasons and hazy days in the megacity Beijing of China显示文摘Size-resolved aerosol samples were collected by MOUDI in four seasons in 2007 in Beijing. The PM10 and PM1.8mass concentrations were 166.0 ± 120.5 and 91.6 ± 69.7 μg/m^3, respectively,throughout the measurement, with seasonal variation: nearly two times higher in autumn than in summer and spring. Serious fine particle pollution occurred in winter with the PM1.8/PM10 ratio of 0.63, which was higher than other seasons. The size distribution of PM showed obvious seasonal and diurnal variation, with a smaller fine mode peak in spring and in the daytime. OM(organic matter = 1.6 × OC(organic carbon)) and SIA(secondary inorganic aerosol) were major components of fine particles, while OM, SIA and Ca_2+were major components in coarse particles. Moreover, secondary components, mainly SOA(secondary organic aerosol) and SIA,accounted for 46%–96% of each size bin in fine particles, which meant that secondary pollution existed all year. Sulfates and nitrates, primarily in the form of(NH_4)_2SO_4, NH_4NO_3, Ca SO_4, Na_2SO_4 and K_2SO_4, calculated by the model ISORROPIA II, were major components of the solid phase in fine particles. The PM concentration and size distribution were similar in the four seasons on non-haze days, while large differences occurred on haze days, which indicated seasonal variation of PM concentration and size distribution were dominated by haze days. | 3 | Insight of the stability and activity of platinum single atoms on ceria显示文摘Single-atom catalysts (SACs) have recently attracted broad attention in the catalysis field due to their maximized atom efficiency and unique catalytic properties.An atomic-level understanding of the interaction between the metal atoms and support is vital for developing stable and high-performance SACs.In this work,Pt1 single atoms with Ioadings up to 4 wt.% were fabricated on ceria nanorods using the atomic layer deposition technique.To understand the Pt-O-Ce bond interfacial interactions,the stability of Pt1 single atoms in the hydrogen reducing environment was extensively investigated by using in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy CO chemisorption measurements.It was found that ceria defect sites,metal Ioadings and high-temperature calcination are effective ways to tune the stability of Pt1 single atoms in the hydrogen environment.X-ray photoemission spectroscopy further showed that Pt1 single atoms on ceria are dominantly at a +2 valence state at the defect and step edge sites,while those on terrace sites are at a +4 state.The above tailored stability and electronic properties of Pt1 single atoms are found to be strongly correlated with the catalytic activity in the dry and water-mediated CO oxidation reactions. | Xuxu Ye Hengwei Wang Yue Lin Xinyu Liu Lina Cao Jian Gu Junling Lu | 2019 | Nano Research2019,12,6: | 13 |
| 4 | Effects of NO_x and VOCs from Five Emission Sources on Summer Surface O_3 over the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Region显示文摘The impacts of emissions from industry, power plant, transportation, residential, and biogenic sources on daily maximum surface ozone(O3DM) over the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei(BTH) region in North China in the summer of 2007 were examined in a modeling study. The modeling system consisted of the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF) model and the photochemical dispersion model, CAMx. The factor separation technique(FST) was used to quantify the effect of individual emission source types and the synergistic interactions among two or more types. Additionally, the effectiveness of emission reduction scenarios was explored. The industry, power plant, and transportation emission source types were found to be the most important in terms of their individual effects on O3DM. The key contributor to high surface O3was power plant emissions, with a peak individual effect of 40 ppbv in the southwestern BTH area. The individual effect from the biogenic emission category was quite low. The synergistic effects from the combinations of each pair of anthropogenic emission types suppressed O3formation, while the synergistic effects for combinations of three were favorable for O3formation when the industrial and power plant emission source types coexisted. The quadruple synergistic effects were positive only with the combination of power plant, transportation, residential, and biogenic sources, while the quintuple synergistic effect showed only minor impacts on O3DMconcentrations. A 30% reduction in industrial and transportation sources produced the most effective impacts on O3concentrations, with a maximum decrease of 20 ppbv. | 5 | Characteristics and formation mechanism of regional haze episodes in the Pearl River Delta of China显示文摘To investigate the characteristics and the specific mechanism of continuous haze,comprehensive measurements were conducted from 15 October to 19 November in the Atmospheric Environment Monitoring Super-Station in Heshan of Guangdong province.Five haze episodes occurred in October and November 2014 in the Pearl River Delta(PRD)region. The meteorological parameters, gas data, chemical compositions, and optical parameters of the aerosols were obtained. Among these events, the second haze episode,with the highest concentration of PM2.5 of 187.51 μg/m^3, was the most severe. NO^3-was always higher than SO_4^(2-), which indicated that motor vehicles played an important role in the haze, even though the oxidation rate from SO_2 to SO_4^(2-)was faster than that of NOXto NO_3^-. The difference between the hourly averages of Na+and K+during the haze episode and clean days was small, implying that straw combustion and sea salt had no significant effect on the occurrence of haze, and the backward trajectories of the air masses also conformed with this result. The air pollutants were difficult to disperse because of the significant decrease in the planetary boundary layer(PBL) height. | 6 | High degree of pharmacokinetic compatibility exists between the five-herb medicine XueBiJing and antibiotics comedicated in sepsis care显示文摘Managing the dysregulated host response to infection remains a major challenge in sepsis care. Chinese treatment guideline recommends adding Xue Bi Jing, a five-herb medicine, to antibioticbased sepsis care. Although adding Xue Bi Jing further reduced 28-day mortality via modulating the host response, pharmacokinetic herbedrug interaction is a widely recognized issue that needs to be studied.Building on our earlier systematic chemical and human pharmacokinetic investigations of Xue Bi Jing, we evaluated the degree of pharmacokinetic compatibility for Xue Bi Jing/antibiotic combination based on mechanistic evidence of interaction risk. Considering both Xue Bi Jing-antibiotic and antibiotic-Xue Bi Jing interaction potential, we integrated informatics-based approach with experimental approach and developed a compound pair-based method for data processing. To reflect clinical reality, we selected for study Xue Bi Jing compounds bioavailable for drug interactions and 45 antibiotics commonly used in sepsis care in China. Based on the data of interacting with drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters, no Xue Bi Jing compound could pair, as perpetrator, with the antibiotics. Although some antibiotics could,due to their inhibition of uridine 50-diphosphoglucuronosyltransferase 2 B15, organic anion transporters1/2 and/or organic anion-transporting polypeptide 1 B3, pair with senkyunolide I, tanshinol and salvianolic acid B, the potential interactions(resulting in increased exposure) are likely desirable due to these Xue Bi Jing compounds’ low baseline exposure levels. Inhibition of aldehyde dehydrogenase by 7 antibiotics probably results in undesirable reduction of exposure to protocatechuic acid from Xue Bi Jing.Collectively, Xue Bi Jing/antibiotic combination exhibited a high degree of pharmacokinetic compatibility at clinically relevant doses. | 7 | Anlotinib suppresses lymphangiogenesis and lymphatic metastasis in lung adenocarcinoma through a process potentially involving VEGFR-3 signaling显示文摘Objective:Lymphatic metastasis is one of the leading causes of malignancy dispersion in various types of cancer.However,few anti-lymphangiogenic drugs have been approved for clinical use to date.Therefore,new therapies to block lymphangiogenesis are urgently required.Methods:Immunohistochemistry,immunofluorescence,Western blot,migration assays,and lymphangiogenesis and lymphatic metastasis assays were used.Results:Anlotinib,a receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor,suppressed the rate of new metastatic lesions(31.82%in the placebo arm and 18.18%in the anlotinib arm)in patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma who were enrolled in our ALTER-0303 study.D2-40+-lymphatic vessel density was strongly correlated with disease stage,metastasis,and poor prognosis in 144 Chinese patients with lung adenocarcinoma.In mice bearing A549EGFP tumors,tumor lymphatic vessel density,tumor cell migration to lymph nodes,and the number of distant metastatic lesions were lower in the anlotinib group than in the controls.Anlotinib inhibited the growth and migration of human lymphatic endothelial cells(hLECs)and lymphangiogenesisin vitro andin vivo.Treatment of hLECs with anlotinib downregulated phosphorylated vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3(VEGFR-3).Conclusions:Anlotinib inhibits lymphangiogenesis and lymphatic metastasis,probably through inactivating VEGFR-3 phosphorylation.The results indicate that anlotinib may be beneficial for treatment in avoiding lymphangiogenesis and distant lymphatic metastasis in lung adenocarcinoma.(Trial registration:ALTER0303;NCT02388919;March 17,2015.) | Tingting Qin Zhujun Liu Jing Wang Junling Xia Shaochuan Liu Yanan Jia Hailin Liu Kai Li | 2020 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,3: | 9 |
| 8 | Correlation between the cumulative analgesic effect of electroacupuncture intervention and synaptic plasticity of hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus neurons in rats with sciatica显示文摘In the present study, a rat model of chronic neuropathic pain was established by ligation of the sciatic nerve and a model of learning and memory impairment was established by ovariectomy to investigate the analgesic effect of repeated electroacupuncture stimulation at bilateral Zusanli (ST36) and Yanglingquan (GB34). In addition, associated synaptic changes in neurons in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus were examined. Results indicate that the thermal pain threshold (paw withdrawal latency) was significantly increased in rats subjected to 2-week electroacupuncture intervention compared with 2-day electroacupuncture, but the analgesic effect was weakened remarkably in ovariectomized rats with chronic constrictive injury. 2-week electroacupuncture intervention substantially reversed the chronic constrictive injury-induced increase in the synaptic cleft width and thinning of the postsynaptic density. In the present study, and for thefirst time, we used an AIEgen for dynamic STED nanoscopic imaging of a specificorganelle in live cancer cells. TPA-T-CyP is a synthetic red&NIR-emittingluminogen with AIE features that can spontaneously and specifically aggregateon mitochondria without the need for encapsulation or surface modification.The STED efficiency of aggregated TPA-T-CyP can reach more than 80%, andsuper-resolution imaging of TPA-T-CyP-stained mitochondria in live HeLa cellsis possible, with a lateral spatial resolution of 74 nm. The tomographic technique, which combines tunable diode laser spectroscopy and algebraic reconstruction technique, enables the simultaneous reconstruction of temperature and gas concentration with both spatial and temporal resolutions. The system measures a maximum diameter of 35 cm in a circular area with a minimum spatial resolution of 1 mm×1 mm and temporal response of up to 1 kHz. Simulations validate the effects of the beam arrangement and discrete grid on reconstruction accuracy, and give the optimal beam arrangements. Results demonstrated increased expression of hippocampal acetylcholinesterase, vesicular acetylcholine transporter, and muscarinic M1 receptor mRNA, as well as decreased pain threshold, in a rat model of chronic neuropathic pain after electroacupuncture. | 15 | Development of EST-SSR primers and their practicability test for Laminaria显示文摘Laminaria (Saccharina) is one of the economic important seaweeds.Through sequence analysis of 4 099 ESTs from Laminaria (971 were generated from our own cDNA laboratories and 3 128 were downloaded from updated EST databases) with SSRIT software,two hundred and fifty-four SSRs in 206 ESTs were found.From the 254 SSRs,sixty-three SSR primer-pairs were designed. In order to test their practicability, the 63 primer-pairs were tested in commonly used SSR reaction conditions using 12 Laminara DNA samples as templates. The results show that 23 SSR primer-pairs gave good amplification patterns on most (more than 80%) of the 12 Laminara DNA templates. The thermal pain threshold (paw withdrawal latency) was increased significantly in both groups at 2 weeks after electroacupuncture intervention compared with 2 days of electroacupuncture. In ovariectomized rats with chronic constriction injury, the analgesic effect was significantly reduced. Electroacupuncture for 2 weeks significantly diminished the injury-induced increase in synaptic cleft width and thinning of the postsynaptic density, and it significantly suppressed the down-regulation of intracellular calcium/ calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II expression in the hippocampal CA3 region. | 17 | Effect of different twirling and rotating acupuncture manipulation techniques on the blood flow perfusion at acupoints显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effect of different twirling and rotating acupuncture manipulation techniques on the blood flow perfusion at acupoints to provide a reference for the study of acupoint specificity and the quantification and effectiveness of acupuncture methods. METHODS: Twenty healthy male or female college students each received four different acupuncture manipulation techniques, including simple acupuncture, uniform reinforcing-reducing needling, twirling reinforcing needling, and twisting reducing needling. The self-control method was applied. Acupuncture was performed by an acupuncture manipulation simulator at Neiguan (PC 6) and Zusanli (ST 36). The process of twirling and rotating was divided into seven timepoints. The PeriCam Perfusion Speckle Imager (PSI) System was used to collect the blood flow perfusion data at each acupoint. The specificity of twirling and rotating acupuncture manipulation was analyzed based on changes in the curve, video, and numerical blood flow perfusion data at each timepoint. RESULTS: There were two peaks in the blood flow perfusion curve of twirling and rotating acupuncture manipulation;one appeared after 3 min of needle retention, and the other appeared 3 min after needle removal. The blood flow perfusion parameters showed that the greatest differences between the four manipulation techniques occurred after 5 and 10 min of needle retention. The specificity of various manipulation techniques was most obvious at these two timepoints. There were significant differences between the four manipulation groups in the blood flow perfusion and the relative change rates of blood flow perfusion at each timepoint. CONCLUSION: Laser speckle imaging enables the real-time, non-invasive, rapid, and accurate collection of blood flow perfusion data during acupuncture. This imaging technique enables the easy attainment of various parameters such as visual images, two-dimensional curves, and data tables. At various timepoints, the four groups significantly differed regarding changes in blood flow perfusion and relative change rates of blood flow perfusion, which facilitated the differentiation of the four acupuncture manipulation methods. Based on this, further analysis could be conducted to study spatial distribution characteristics such as the influence area and flare area. | 20 | Aerosol optical properties under different pollution levels in the Pearl River Delta(PRD) region of China显示文摘To clarify the aerosol hygroscopic growth and optical properties of the Pearl River Delta(PRD)region,integrated observations were conducted in Heshan City of Guangdong Province from October 19 to November 17,2014.The concentrations and chemical compositions of PM2.5,aerosol optical properties and meteorological parameters were measured.The mean value of PM2.5 increased from less than 35(excellent)to 35-75μg/m^3(good)and then to greater than 75μg/m^3(pollution),corresponding to mean PM2.5 values of 24.9,51.2,and 93.3μg/m^3,respectively.The aerosol scattering hygroscopic growth factor(f(RH=80%))values were 2.0,2.12,and 2.18 for the excellent,good,and pollution levels,respectively.The atmospheric extinction coefficient(σext)and the absorption coefficient of aerosols(σap)increased,and the single scattering albedo(SSA)decreased from the excellent to the pollution levels.For different air mass sources,under excellent and good levels,the land air mass from northern Heshan had lower f(RH)andσsp values.In addition,the mixed aerosol from the sea and coastal cities had lower f(RH)and showed that the local sources of coastal cities have higher scattering characteristics in pollution periods. | Liuwei Kong Min Hu Qinwen Tan Miao Feng Yu Qu Junling An Yuanhang Zhang Xingang Liu Nianliang Cheng | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,1: | 3 |
