1Flavonoid profiling of a traditional Chinese medicine formula of Huangqin Tang using high performance liquid chromatography显示文摘The quality control processes for herbal medicines have been problematic. Flavonoids are the major active components of Huangqin Tang(HQT, a traditional Chinese medicine formula). In this study, we used a combinative method approach consisting of chromatographic fingerprinting(high performance liquid chromatography; HPLC), quantitative methods and a pharmacodynamic evaluation model to analyze the flavonoids of HQT obtained from different sources. Ten batches of HQT were analyzed by the HPLC fingerprinting method and 26 common peaks were detected, of which 23 peaks corresponded with the chemical profile of HQT. In addition, 11 major compounds were identified by LC–MS analysis(liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometer; LC–MS^n) and quantified by the HPLC quantitative method approach. The studied10 batches of HQT were found to be homogeneous in their composition with a similarity between 0.990 and1.000. The distribution of the 11 identified compounds was found to be very similar among the batches. Only slight pharmacodynamic differences were detected between the different batches, confirming the homogeneity of HQT. 2Effects of dietary Bacillus amyloliquefaciens supplementation on growth performance,intestinal morphology, inflammatory response, and microbiota of intra-uterine growth retarded weanling piglets显示文摘Background: The focus of recent research has been directed toward the probiotic potential of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens(BA) on the gut health of animals. However, little is known about BA's effects on piglets with intra-uterine growth retardation(IUGR). Therefore, this study investigated the effects of BA supplementation on the growth performance,intestinal morphology, inflammatory response, and microbiota of IUGR piglets.Methods: Eighteen litters of newborn piglets were selected at birth, with one normal birth weight(NBW) and two IUGR piglets in each litter(i.e., 18 NBW and 36 IUGR piglets in total). At weaning, the NBW piglet and one of the IUGR piglets were assigned to groups fed a control diet(i.e., the NBW-CON and IUGR-CON groups). The other IUGR piglet was assigned to a group fed the control diet supplemented with 2.0 g BA per kg of diet(i.e., IUGR-BA group). The piglets were thus distributed across three groups for a four-week period.Results: IUGR reduced the growth performance of the IUGR-CON piglets compared with the NBW-CON piglets. It was also associated with decreased vil us sizes, increased apoptosis rates, reduced goblet cel numbers, and an imbalance between pro-and anti-inflammatory cytokines in the smal intestine. Supplementation with BA improved the average daily weight gain and the feed efficiency of the IUGR-BA group compared with the IUGR-CON group(P < 0.05). The IUGR-BA group exhibited increases in the ratio of jejunal vil us height to crypt depth, in ileal vil us height, and in ileal goblet cel density. They also exhibited decreases in the numbers of jejunal and ileal apoptotic cel s and ileal proliferative cel s(P < 0.05). Supplementation with BA increased interleukin 10 content, but it decreased tumor necrosis factor alpha level in the smal intestines of the IUGR-BA piglets(P < 0.05). 4Genetic and biological characteristics of the globally circulating H5N8 avian influenza viruses and the protective efficacy offered by the poultry vaccine currently used in China显示文摘The H5N8 avian influenza viruses have been widely circulating in wild birds and are responsible for the loss of over 33 million domestic poultry in Europe, Russia, Middle East, and Asia since January 2020. To monitor the invasion and spread of the H5N8 virus in China, we performed active surveillance by analyzing 317 wild bird samples and swab samples collected from 41,172 poultry all over the country. We isolated 22 H5N8 viruses from wild birds and 14 H5N8 viruses from waterfowls. Genetic analysis indicated that the 36 viruses formed two different genotypes: one genotype viruses were widely detected from different wild birds and domestic waterfowls;the other genotype was isolated from a whopper swan. We further revealed the origin and spatiotemporal spread of these two distinct H5N8 virus genotypes in 2020 and 2021. Animal studies indicated that the H5N8 isolates are highly pathogenic to chickens, mildly pathogenic in ducks, but have distinct pathotypes in mice. Moreover, we found that vaccinated poultry in China could be completely protected against H5N8 virus challenge. 7Design and experiments of an active isolator for satellite micro-vibration显示文摘In this paper, a soft active isolator(SAI) derived from a voice coil motor is studied to determine its abilities as a micro-vibration isolation device for sensitive satellite payloads. Firstly,the two most important parts of the SAI, the mechanical unit and the low-noise driver, are designed and manufactured. Then, a rigid-flexible coupling dynamic model of the SAI is built, and a dynamic analysis is conducted. Furthermore, a controller with a sky-hook damper is designed. Finally,results from the performance tests of the mechanical/electronic parts and the isolation experiments are presented. 9KIF2C:a novel link between Wnt/β-catenin and mTORCI signaling in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common primary liver malignancy and is the fourth-leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide.HCC is refractory to many standard cancer treatments and the prognosis is often poor,highlighting a pressing need to identify biomarkers of aggressiveness and potential targets for future treatments.Kinesin family member 2C(KIF2C)is reported to be highly expressed in several human tumors.Nevertheless,the molecular mechanisms underlying the role of KIF2C in tumor development and progression have not been investigated.In this study,we found that KIF2C expression was significantly upregulated in HCC,and that KIF2C up-regulation was associated with a poor prognosis.Utilizing both gain and loss of function assays,we showed that KIF2C promoted HCC cell proliferation,migration,invasion,and metastasis both in vitro and in vivo.Mechanistically,we identified TBC1D7 as a binding partner of KIF2C,and this interaction disrupts the formation of the TSC complex,resulting in the enhancement of mammalian target of rapamycin complexl(mTORCI)signal transduction.Additionally,we found that KIF2C is a direct target of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway,and acts as a key factor in mediating the crosstalk between Wnt/β-catenin and mTORCI signaling.Thus,the results of our study establish a link between Wnt/β-catenin and mTORCI signaling,which highlights the potential of KIF2C as a therapeutic target for the treatment of HCC.Shi Wei Miaomiao Dai Chi Zhang Kai Teng Fengwei Wang Hongbo Li Weipeng Sun Zihao Feng Tiebang Kang Xinyuan Guan Ruihua Xu Muyan Cai Dan Xie 2021Protein & Cell2021,12,10:8
10Preparation of nano-sized Al_2O_3-2SiO_2 powder by sol-gel plus azeotropic distillation method显示文摘Nano-sized amorphous Al 2 O 3 -2SiO 2 powder was prepared by a sol-gel method coupled with azeotropic distillation. The structure of the powder was investigated by DTS, BET, TEM, FT-IR, TG-DTA and XRD, showing that n-butanol azeotropic distillation could effectively remove water from the aluminosilicate gels and prevent the formation of hard agglomerates in the drying process. The average particle diameter of the powder was about 70 nm. The largest BET specific surface area of the powder was 669 m 2 /g. To examine the alkali-activation reactivity of the powder, alkali-activation tests were performed with the powder reacting with sodium silicate solution. 11The FGOALS climate system model as a modeling tool for supporting climate sciences:An overview显示文摘Climate system models are useful tools for understanding the interactions among the components of the climate system and predicting/projecting future climate change. The development of climate models has been a central focus of the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences(LASG/IAP) since the establishment of the laboratory in 1985. In China, many pioneering component models and fully coupled models of the climate system have been developed by LASG/IAP. The fully coupled climate system developed in the recent decade is named FGOALS(Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System Model). In this paper, an application-oriented review of the LASG/IAP FGOALS model is presented. The improved model performances are demonstrated in the context of cloud-radiation processes, Asian monsoon, ENSO phenomena, Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation(AMOC) and sea ice. The FGOALS model has contributed to both CMIP5(Coupled Model Intercomparison Project-phase 5) and IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) AR5(the Fifth Assessment Report). The release of FGOALS data has supported the publication of nearly 500 papers around the world. The results of FGOALS are cited ~106 times in the IPCC WG1(Working Group 1) AR5. In addition to the traditional long-term simulations and projections, near-term decadal climate prediction is a new set of CMIP experiment, progress of LAGS/IAP in the development of nearterm decadal prediction system is reviewed. The FGOALS model has supported many Chinese national-level research projects and contributed to the national climate change assessment report. 13Design and feedforward control of large-rotation two-axis scan mirror assembly with MEMS sensor integration显示文摘As a key component of electro-optical systems, a Two-axis Scan mirror AssemblY(TSAY) is usually used for Line-of-Sight(LOS) precision pointing, tracking, scanning, and stabilizing. Therefore, it is necessary for a TSAY to have a large angular range, high dynamic characteristics, and small mirror surface distortion. Furthermore, vibration from carriers of electro-optical systems, such as spacecraft and airplanes, is inevitable, so it is critical to guarantee the control accuracy of a TSAY under vibration. In this paper, a TSAY prototype is designed and developed. To increase the control bandwidth, structural topology optimization is applied to the TSAY’s elliptical mirror to reduce the moment of inertia, meanwhile keeping surface flatness. A flexible hinge is adopted to achieve a large angular range. To suppress the angular perturbation caused by the base linear vibration, an adaptive feedforward loop with base-integrated Micro-Electro-Mechanical System(MEMS) accelerators is constructed to enhance the TSAY’s feedback loop. Simulation and experimental results show that the TSAY prototype’s two-axis mechanical angular ranges are more than ±3.2°, the mirror surface flatness Root Mean Square(RMS) value is better than 0.04 k, and the closed-loop bandwidth is beyond 330 Hz. These are suitable for most applications. 14Effects of soil nutrients and climate factors on belowground biomass in an alpine meadow in the source region of the Yangtze-Yellow rivers, Tibetan Plateau of China显示文摘Improving our knowledge of the effects of environmental factors(e.g.soil conditions,precipitation and temperature) on belowground biomass in an alpine grassland is essential for understanding the consequences of carbon storage in this biome.The object of this study is to investigate the relative importance of soil nutrients and climate factors on belowground biomass in an alpine meadow in the source region of the Yangtze and Yellow rivers,Tibetan Plateau.Soil organic carbon(SOC),total nitrogen(TN) and total phosphorous(TP) contents and belowground biomass were measured at 22 sampling sites across an alpine meadow on the Tibetan Plateau.We analyzed the data by using the redundancy analysis to determine the main environmental factors affecting the belowground biomass and the contribution of each factor.The results showed that SOC,TN and TP were the main factors that influenced belowground biomass,and the contribution of SOC,TN and TP on biomass was in the range of 47.87%–72.06% at soil depths of 0–30 cm.Moreover,the combined contribution of annual mean temperature(AMT) and mean annual precipitation(MAP) on belowground biomass ranged from 0.92% to 4.10%.A potential mechanism for the differences in belowground biomass was caused by the variations in soil nitrogen and phosphorous,which were coupled with SOC.A significant correlation was observed between MAP and soil nutrients(SOC,TN and TP) at the soil depth of 0–10 cm(P<0.05).We concluded that precipitation is an important driving force in regulating ecosystem functioning as reflected in variations of soil nutrients(SOC,TN and TP) and dynamics of belowground biomass in alpine grassland ecosystems.WANG Haiming SUN Jian LI Weipeng WU Jianbo CHEN Youjun LIU Wenhui 2016Journal of Arid Land2016,8,6:5
15Impact of dynamic distribution of floc particles on flocculation effect显示文摘Polyaluminum chloride (PAC) was used as coagulant and suspended particles in kaolin water. Online instruments including turbidimeter and particle counter were used to monitor the flocculation process. An evaluation model for demonstrating the impact on the flocculation effect was established based on the multiple linear regression analysis method. The parameter of the index weight of channels quantitatively described how the variation of floc particle population in different size ranges cause the decrement of turbidity. The study showed that the floc particles in different size ranges contributed differently to the decrease of turbidity and that the index weight of channel could excellently indicate the impact degree of floc particles dynamic distribution on flocculation effect. 16Fractal Characteristics of Particle Size Distribution in Dynamic Flocculation Process显示文摘This study selected polyaluminum chloride(PAC) coagulant to remove suspended particles in Kaolin suspension solution and used a turbidimeter and particle counter to monitor the flocculation process online and collected the experiment data. The experiments were conducted to study the dynamic distribution characteristics of suspended particles under different hydrodynamic conditions. The results show the self-similarity and scale invariance of particle size distribution. The study further proposed the concept of fractal dimension of particle size distribution and found out that fractal dimension changed in a similar way as residual turbidity did and could excellently indicate the variation of coagulation effect. 17Efficacy of acupuncture therapy for improving anorexia in tumor patients:a Meta-analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To use evidence-based medicine to systematically evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture therapy for improving anorexia in tumor patients.METHODS:We queried the China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database(CNKI),China Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP),Wanfang Data,Pub Med,Cochrane Library,and Embase databases to identify reports of randomized controlled trials(RCTs)that applied acupuncture therapy to improve anorexia in tumor patients,and used Rev Man 5.3 software to conduct a Meta-analysis of the effective rate,appetite score,Karnofsky Performance Status(KPS)score,Functional Assessment of Anorexia/Cachexia Therapy(FAACT)appetite scale,and body weight in each study.Subgroup analysis was conducted based on whether radiotherapy or chemotherapy were also administered.RESULTS:A total of 10 RCTs were included with a total of 648 patients,including 343 patients in the treatment group and 305 patients in the control group.The Meta-analysis results showed that the clinical efficacy,appetite score,KPS score,and FAACT score of the treatment group(which received acupuncture to improve appetite)were better than those of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);however,there was no statistically significant difference in body weight between the treatment group and the control group(P>0.05).The results of the subgroup analysis showed that the effective rate and appetite score for patients with long-term and chronic loss of appetite who underwent acupuncture were better than those of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS:Acupuncture therapy has good efficacy and safety in the treatment of anorexia in tumor patients,and it also has good efficacy and safety for long-term and chronic loss of appetite.The reliability and stability of the above results need to be confirmed by high-quality RCTs with larger sample sizes.ZHAO Weipeng LI Jing ZHANG Yushuang LI He HUANG Jinchang BAI Jing LI Jianbo 2021Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,4:4
18Two-point statistics of coherent structures in turbulent flow over riblet-mounted surfaces显示文摘Direct numerical simulations (DNS) of turbulent flow over a drag-reducing and a drag-increasing riblet configuration are performed. Three-dimensional two-point statistics are presented for the first time to quantify the interaction of the riblet surfaces with the coherent, energy-bearing eddy structures in the near-wall region. Results provide statistical evidence that the averaged organization of the streamwise vortices in the drag-reducing case is lifted above the riblet tip, while in the drag-increasing case the streamwise vortices are embedded further into the riblet cove. In the spanwise direction, the cores of the streamwise vortices over the riblet surfaces are shown to be closer to each other than those for flow over the smooth wall, and wider riblet spacing leads to more reduction on their spanwise distances. 19Adaptive cavity-enhanced dual-comb spectroscopy显示文摘Resolution and bandwidth are critical for cavity-enhanced dual-comb spectroscopy(CE-DCS). Postcorrections to dualcomb interferograms adaptively compensate the relative phase jitters of the optical frequency combs and result in both a mode-resolved spectral resolution and a signal-to-noise ratio of 440:1 in 1 s. Meanwhile, an adaptive combcavity locking scheme exploits more than 90% of the comb modes, covering 340 cm-1(10 THz) at 6450 cm-1. For a single dual-comb interferogram, more than 40,000 comb teeth spaced by 250 MHz are measured in less than7.5 ms, contributing to a noise equivalent absorption per spectral element of 2 × 10-10 cm-1·Hz-1∕2. 20Terahertz synthetic aperture in-line holography with intensity correction and sparsity autofocusing reconstruction显示文摘We demonstrate high-resolution and high-quality terahertz(THz)in-line digital holography based on the synthetic aperture method.The setup is built on a self-developed THz quantum cascade laser,and a lateral resolution better than 70μm(~λ)is achieved at 4.3 THz.To correct intensity differences between sub-holograms before aperture stitching,a practical algorithm with global optimization is proposed.To address the twin-image problem for in-line holography,a sparsity-based phase retrieval algorithm is applied to perform the high-quality reconstruction.Furthermore,a new autofocusing criterion termed'reconstruction objective function'is introduced to obtain the best in-focus reconstruction distance,so the autofocusing procedure and the reconstruction are unified within the same framework.Both simulation and experiment prove its accuracy and robustness.Note that all the methods proposed here can be applied to other wavebands as well.We demonstrate the success of this THz synthetic aperture in-line holography on biological and semiconductor samples,showing its potential applications in bioimaging and materials analysis.ZEYU LI RUIJIAO ZOU WEIPENG KONG XUEMIN WANG QINGHUA DENG QIANG YAN YU QIN WEIDONG WU XUN ZHOU 2019Photonics Research2019,7,12:3
