CAS FGOALS-f3-L Model Datasets for CMIP6 Historical Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project Simulation显示文摘The outputs of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) Flexible Global Ocean–Atmosphere–Land System(FGOALS-f3-L) model for the baseline experiment of the Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project simulation in the Diagnostic,Evaluation and Characterization of Klima common experiments of phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6) are described in this paper. The CAS FGOALS-f3-L model, experiment settings, and outputs are all given. In total, there are three ensemble experiments over the period 1979–2014, which are performed with different initial states. The model outputs contain a total of 37 variables and include the required three-hourly mean, six-hourly transient, daily and monthly mean datasets. The baseline performances of the model are validated at different time scales. The preliminary evaluation suggests that the CAS FGOALS-f3-L model can capture the basic patterns of atmospheric circulation and precipitation well, including the propagation of the Madden–Julian Oscillation, activities of tropical cyclones, and the characterization of extreme precipitation. These datasets contribute to the benchmark of current model behaviors for the desired continuity of CMIP. | Bian HE Qing BAO Xiaocong WANG Linjiong ZHOU Xiaofei WU Yimin LIU Guoxiong WU Kangjun CHEN Sicheng HE Wenting HU Jiandong LI Jinxiao LI Guokui NIAN Lei WANG Jing YANG Minghua ZHANG Xiaoqi ZHANG | 2019 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2019,36,8: | 12
LICOM Model Datasets for the CMIP6 Ocean Model Intercomparison Project显示文摘The datasets of two Ocean Model Intercomparison Project(OMIP)simulation experiments from the LASG/IAP Climate Ocean Model, version 3(LICOM3),forced by two different sets of atmospheric surface data, are described in this paper. The experiment forced by CORE-II(Co-ordinated Ocean–Ice Reference Experiments,Phase II)data(1948–2009)is called OMIP1,and that forced by JRA55-do(surface dataset for driving ocean–sea-ice models based on Japanese 55-year atmospheric reanalysis)data(1958–2018)is called OMIP2.First,the improvement of LICOM from CMIP5 to CMIP6 and the configurations of the two experiments are described.Second, the basic performances of the two experiments are validated using the climatological-mean and interannual time scales from observation. We find that the mean states, interannual variabilities, and long-term linear trends can be reproduced well by the two experiments. The differences between the two datasets are also discussed. Finally, the usage of these data is described. These datasets are helpful toward understanding the origin system bias of the fully coupled model. | Pengfei LIN Zhipeng YU Hailong LIU Yongqiang YU Yiwen LI Jirong JIANG Wei XUE Kangjun CHEN Qian YANG Bowen ZHAO Jilin WEI Mengrong DING Zhikuo SUN Yaqi WANG Yao MENG Weipeng ZHENG Jinfeng MA | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,3: | 9
Characteristics of gas-solid micro fluidized beds for thermochemical reaction analysis显示文摘Fuel conversion and clean energy reaction systems involve a variety of catalytic and non-catalytic gas-solid thermochemical reactions.A good understanding of the correct reaction mechanism and kinetics,as well as the profiles of reaction products,is of great significance to the development, design, and operation of such reaction systems. The micro fluidized bed reaction analysis provides an efficient and reliable method to acquire this essential information with low capital and operating costs, low energy consumption and enhanced safety. This paper provides an overview of the system and its characteristics for the micro fluidized bed reaction analyzer that has been well proven to be a reliable new approach as well as an instrument for characterizing various gas-solid thermochemical reactions. | Zhennan Han Junrong Yue Xi Zeng Jian Yu Fang Wang Shaozeng Sun Hong Yao Guangqian Luo Xuejing Liu Yining Sun Fu Ding Liangliang Fu Lei Shi Kangjun Wang Jiebin Yang Shaonan Wang Xueqing Chen Dingrong Bai Guangwen Xu | 2020 | Carbon Resources Conversion2020,3,1: | 6
A Study on Spatial Interpolation of Temperature in Anhui Province Based on ANUSPLIN显示文摘To achieve refined temperature grid data with high accuracy and high spatial resolution, hourly temperature grid dataset with spatial resolution of 1 km in Anhui Province from January to December in 2016 was established using the ANUSPLIN thin plate spline algorithm, which meets the needs of climate change research and meteorological disaster risk assessment. And the interpolation error was analyzed. The results show that the interpolated values of hourly temperature by ANUSPLIN are close to the observed values in 2016. The error is generally below 1. 5 ℃,and the root mean square error is 0. 937 6 ℃. On monthly scale, the interpolated values of hourly temperature by ANUSPLIN are also close to the observed values. In October,November,June and May,the interpolation accuracy is the highest, and the proportion of absolute error of hourly temperature lower than 2 ℃ is up to 99%,97. 4%,98. 1% and 97. 4% respectively. In February,March,August and December, the interpolation accuracy is the lowest, and the proportion of absolute error higher than 2 ℃ is 8. 1%,5. 3%,4. 1% and 4. 2% respectively. Due to the effect of complex topography in Anhui, the interpolation accuracy is the lowest in the mountainous areas of southern and western Anhui, and the interpolation error in these regions even exceeds 1. 5 ℃ annually and 1. 8 ℃ monthly. | Wen Huayang Chen Fengjiao Li Jun Qiu Kangjun Wang Gen | 2019 | Meteorological and Environmental Research2019,10,2: | 5

Sulfur and Oxygen Isotopes of Sulfate Extracted from Early Cambrian Phosphorite Nodules: Implications for Marine Redox Evolution in the Yangtze Platform显示文摘Phosphorite nodule beds are discovered in the black shale of basal Niutitang Formation throughout the Yangtze Platform in South China, recording an important phosphorite-generation event. Platform-wide phosphorite precipitation requires special oceanographic and geochemical conditions, thus the origin of the Niutitang phosphorite nodules may provide valuable information about the ocean chemistry in the Early Cambrian. In this study, we measured sulfur and oxygen isotopic compositions of sulfate extracted from phosphorite nodules collected from the basal Niutitang Formation. Phosphorite associated sulfate(PAS) is a trace amount of sulfate that incorporates into crystal lattice during phosphorite precipitation, accordingly PAS records the geochemical signals during phosphorite nodule formation. Sulfur isotopic composition of PAS(δ^(34)S_(PAS)) ranges from-1.16‰ to +24.48‰(mean=+8.19‰, n=11), and oxygen isotopic value(δ^(18)O_(PAS)) varies between-5.3‰ and +26.3‰(mean=+7.0‰, n=8). Most phosphorite nodules have low δ^(34)SPAS and low δ^(18)O_(PAS) values, suggesting PAS mainly derived from anaerobic oxidation of H_2S within suboxic sediment porewater. We propose that phosphate was delivered to the Yangtze Platform by a series of upwelling events, and was scavenged from seawater with the precipitation of FeOOH. The absorbed phosphate was released into suboxic porewater by the reduction of FeOOH at the oxic-suboxic redox boundary in sediments, and phosphorite nodule precipitated by the reaction of phosphate with Ca^(2+) diffused from the overlying seawater. The platform-wide deposition of phosphorite nodules in the basal Niutitang Formation implies the bottom water might be suboxic or even oxic, at least sporadically, in Early Cambrian. We speculate that the intensified ocean circulation as evident with frequent occurrences of upwelling events might be the primary reason for the episodic oxidation of the Yangtze Platform in Early Cambrian. | Wenlang Qiao Xianguo Lang Yongbo Peng Kaiyuan Jiang Wu Chen Kangjun Huang Bing Shen | 2016 | Journal of Earth Science2016,27,2: | 2
| BAO Qing LIU Yimin WU Guoxiong HE Bian LI Jinxiao WANG Lei WU Xiaofei CHEN Kangjun WANG Xiaocong YANG Jing ZHANG Xiaoqi | 2020 | Atmospheric and Oceanic Science Letters2020,13,6: | 1
Eddy-resolving Simulation of CAS-LICOM3 for Phase 2 of the Ocean Model Intercomparison Project显示文摘A 61-year(1958–2018)global eddy-resolving dataset for phase 2 of the Ocean Model Intercomparison Project has been produced by the version 3 of Chinese Academy of Science, the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics/Institute of Atmospheric Physics(LASG/IAP)Climate system Ocean Model(CAS-LICOM3).The monthly and a part of the surface daily data in this study can be accessed on the Earth System Grid Federation(ESGF)node.Besides the details of the model and experiments, the evolutions and spatial patterns of large-scale and mesoscale features are also presented. The mesoscale features are reproduced well in the high-resolution simulation,as the mesoscale activities can contribute up to 50%of the total SST variability in eddy-rich regions. Also, the large-scale circulations are remarkably improved compared with the low-resolution simulation, such as the climatological annual mean SST(the RMSE is reduced from 0.59°C to 0.47°C,globally)and the evolution of Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation. The preliminary evaluation also indicates that there are systematic biases in the salinity, the separation location of the western boundary currents, and the magnitude of eddy kinetic energy. All these biases are worthy of further investigation. | Yiwen LI Hailong LIU Mengrong DING Pengfei LIN Zipeng YU Yongqiang YU Yao MENG Yunlong LI Xiaodong JIAN Jinrong JIANG Kangjun CHEN Qian YANG Yaqi WANG Bowen ZHAO Jilin WEI Jinfeng MA Weipeng ZHENG and Pengfei WANG | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,10: | 1
FGOALS-g3 Model Datasets for CMIP6 Flux-Anomaly-Forced Model Intercomparison Project显示文摘The Flux-Anomaly-Forced Model Intercomparison Project(FAFMIP)is an endorsed Model Intercomparison Project in phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6).The goal of FAFMIP is to investigate the spread in the atmosphere–ocean general circulation model projections of ocean climate change forced by increased CO2,including the uncertainties in the simulations of ocean heat uptake, global mean sea level rise due to ocean thermal expansion and dynamic sea level change due to ocean circulation and density changes. The FAFMIP experiments have already been conducted with the Flexible Global Ocean–Atmosphere–Land System Model, gridpoint version 3.0(FGOALS-g3).The model datasets have been submitted to the Earth System Grid Federation(ESGF)node. Here, the details of the experiments, the output variables and some baseline results are presented.Compared with the preliminary results of other models, the evolutions of global mean variables can be reproduced well by FGOALS-g3.The simulations of spatial patterns are also consistent with those of other models in most regions except the North Atlantic and the Southern Ocean, indicating large uncertainties in the regional sea level projections of these two regions. | Yaqi WANG Zipeng YU Pengfei LIN Hailong LIU Jiangbo JIN Lijuan LI Yanli TANG Li DONG Kangjun CHEN Yiwen LI Qian YANG Mengrong DING Yao MENG Bowen ZHAO Jilin WEI Jinfeng MA and Zhikuo SUN | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,10: | 1
CAS-LSM Datasets for the CMIP6 Land Surface Snow and Soil Moisture Model Intercomparison Project显示文摘The datasets of the five Land-offline Model Intercomparison Project(LMIP)experiments using the Chinese Academy of Sciences Land Surface Model(CAS-LSM)of CAS Flexible Global-Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System Model Grid-point version 3(CAS FGOALS-g3)are presented in this study. These experiments were forced by five global meteorological forcing datasets, which contributed to the framework of the Land Surface Snow and Soil Moisture Model Intercomparison Project(LS3MIP)of CMIP6.These datasets have been released on the Earth System Grid Federation node.In this paper, the basic descriptions of the CAS-LSM and the five LMIP experiments are shown. The performance of the soil moisture, snow, and land-atmosphere energy fluxes was preliminarily validated using satellite-based observations. Results show that their mean states, spatial patterns, and seasonal variations can be reproduced well by the five LMIP simulations. It suggests that these datasets can be used to investigate the evolutionary mechanisms of the global water and energy cycles during the past century. | Binghao JIA Longhuan WANG Yan WANG Ruichao LI Xin LUO Jinbo XIE Zhenghui XIE Si CHEN Peihua QIN Lijuan LI Kangjun CHEN | 2021 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,5: | 1
CAS-ESM2.0 Dataset for the Carbon Dioxide Removal Model Intercomparison Project(CDRMIP)显示文摘Understanding the response of the Earth system to varying concentrations of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))is critical for projecting possible future climate change and for providing insight into mitigation and adaptation strategies in the near future. In this study,we generate a dataset by conducting an experiment involving carbon dioxide removal(CDR)—a potential way to suppress global warming—using the Chinese Academy of Sciences Earth System Model version 2.0(CASESM2.0).A preliminary evaluation is provided. The model is integrated from 200–340 years as a 1%yr^(−1) CO_(2) concentration increase experiment, and then to~478 years as a carbon dioxide removal experiment until CO_(2) returns to its original value. Finally, another 80 years is integrated in which CO_(2) is kept constant.Changes in the 2-m temperature, precipitation, sea surface temperature, ocean temperature,Atlantic meridional overturning circulation(AMOC),and sea surface height are all analyzed. In the ramp-up period, the global mean 2-m temperature and precipitation both increase while the AMOC weakens.Values of all the above variables change in the opposite direction in the ramp-down period, with a delayed peak relative to the CO_(2) peak. After CO_(2) returns to its original value, the global mean 2-m temperature is still~1 K higher than in the original state, and precipitation is~0.07 mm d^(–1) higher. At the end of the simulation, there is a~0.5°C increase in ocean temperature and a 1 Sv weakening of the AMOC.Our model simulation produces similar results to those of comparable experiments previously reported in the literature. | Jiangbo JIN Duoying JI Xiao DONG Kece FEI Run GUO Juanxiong HE Yi YU Zhaoyang CHAI He ZHANG Dongling ZHANG Kangjun CHEN Qingcun ZENG | 2024 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2024,41,5: | 0

Datasets for the CMIP6 Scenario Model Intercomparison Project (ScenarioMIP) Simulations with the Coupled Model CAS FGOALS-f3-L显示文摘The datasets for the tier-1 Scenario Model Intercomparison Project(ScenarioMIP)experiments from the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System model,finite-volume version 3(CAS FGOALS-f3-L)are described in this study.ScenarioMIP is one of the core MIP experiments in phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6).Considering future CO2,CH4,N2O and other gases’concentrations,as well as land use,the design of ScenarioMIP involves eight pathways, including two tiers(tier-1 and tier-2)of priority.Tier-1 includes four combined Shared Socioeconomic Pathways(SSPs)with radiative forcing,i.e.,SSP1-2.6,SSP2-4.5,SSP3-7.0 and SSP5-8.5,in which the globally averaged radiative forcing at the top of the atmosphere around the year 2100 is approximately 2.6,4.5,7.0 and 8.5 W m−2,respectively.This study provides an introduction to the ScenarioMIP datasets of this model, such as their storage location, sizes, variables, etc.Preliminary analysis indicates that surface air temperatures will increase by about 1.89℃,3.07℃,4.06℃ and 5.17℃ by around 2100 under these four scenarios, respectively.Meanwhile, some other key climate variables, such as sea-ice extension, precipitation, heat content, and sea level rise, also show significant long-term trends associated with the radiative forcing increases. These datasets will help us understand how the climate will change under different anthropogenic and radiative forcings. | Shuwen ZHAO Yongqiang YU Pengfei LIN Hailong LIU Bian HE Qing BAO Yuyang GUO Lijuan HUA Kangjun CHEN Xiaowei WANG | 2021 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,2: | 0

CAS FGOALS-f3-L Model Datasets for CMIP6 DCPP Experiment显示文摘The outputs of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System(FGOALSf3-L)model for the decadal climate prediction project(DCPP)of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6)are described in this paper. The FGOALS-f3-L was initialized through the upgraded, weakly coupled data assimilation scheme, referred to as EnOI-IAU,which assimilates observational anomalies of sea surface temperature(SST)and upper-level(0–1000-m)ocean temperature and salinity profiles into the coupled model. Then, nine ensemble members of 10-year hindcast/forecast experiments were conducted for each initial year over the period of 1960–2021,based on initial conditions produced by three initialization experiments. The hindcast and forecast experiments follow the experiment designs of the Component-A and Component-B of the DCPP,respectively. The decadal prediction output datasets contain a total of 44 monthly mean atmospheric and oceanic variables. The preliminary evaluation indicates that the hindcast experiments show significant predictive skill for the interannual variations of SST in the north Pacific and multi-year variations of SST in the subtropical Pacific and the southern Indian Ocean. | Shuai HU Bo WU Yiming WANG Tianjun ZHOU Yongqiang YU Bian HE Pengfei LIN Qing BAO Hailong LIU Kangjun CHEN Shuwen ZHAO | 2023 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2023,40,10: | 0
CAS FGOALS-f3-H Dataset for the High-Resolution Model Intercomparison Project(HighResMIP)Tier 2显示文摘Following the High-Resolution Model Intercomparison Project(HighResMIP)Tier 2 protocol under the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6),three numerical experiments are conducted with the Chinese Academy of Sciences Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System Model, version f3-H(CAS FGOALS-f3-H),and a 101-year(1950–2050)global high-resolution simulation dataset is presented in this study. The basic configuration of the FGOALSf3-H model and numerical experiments design are briefly described, and then the historical simulation is validated.Forced by observed radiative agents from 1950 to 2014,the coupled model essentially reproduces the observed long-term trends of temperature, precipitation, and sea ice extent,as well as the large-scale pattern of temperature and precipitation. With an approximate 0.25°horizontal resolution in the atmosphere and 0.1°in the ocean, the coupled models also simulate energetic western boundary currents and the Antarctic Circulation Current(ACC),reasonable characteristics of extreme precipitation, and realistic frontal scale air-sea interaction. The dataset and supporting detailed information have been published in the Earth System Grid Federation. | Bo AN Yongqiang YU Qing BAO Bian HE Jinxiao LI Yihua LUAN Kangjun CHEN Weipeng ZHENG | 2022 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2022,39,11: | 0
