1Liquefaction macrophenomena in the great Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘On May 12,2008 at 14:28,a catastrophic magnitude Ms 8.0 earthquake struck the Sichuan Province of China.The epicenter was located at Wenchuan(31.00oN,103.40oE).Liquefaction macrophenomena and corresponding destruction was observed throughout a vast area of 500 km long and 200 km wide following the earthquake.This paper illustrates the geographic distribution of the liquefaction and the relationship between liquefaction behavior and seismic intensity,and summarizes the liquefaction macrophenomena,including sandboils and waterspouts,ground subsidence,ground fi ssures etc.,and relevant liquefaction features.A brief summary of the structural damage caused by liquefaction is presented and discussed.Based on comparisons with liquefaction phenomena observed in the 1976 Tangshan and 1975 Haicheng earthquakes,preliminary analyses were performed,which revealed some new features of liquefaction behavior and associated issues arising from this event.The site investigation indicated that the spatial non-uniformity of liquefaction distribution was obvious and most of the liquefi ed sites were located in regions of seismic intensity VIII.However,liquefaction phenomena at ten different sites in regions of seismic intensity VI were also observed for the fi rst time in China mainland.Sandboils and waterspouts ranged from centimeters to tens of meters,with most between 1 m to 3 m.Dramatically high water/sand ejections,e.g.,more than 10 m,were observed at four different sites.The sand ejections included silty sand,fi ne sand,medium sand,course sand and gravel,but the ejected sand amount was less than that in the 1976 Tangshan earthquake.Possible liquefaction of natural gravel soils was observed for the fi rst time in China mainland.Chen Longwei Yuan Xiaoming Cao Zhenzhong Hou Longqing Sun Rui Dong Lin Wang Weiming Meng Fanchao Chen Hongjuan 2009Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2009,8,2:14
2A unifying approach in simulating the shot peening process using a 3D random representative volume finite element model显示文摘Using a modified 3D random representative volume(RV)finite element model,the effects of model dimensions(impact region and interval between impact and representative regions),model shapes(rectangular,square,and circular),and peening-induced thermal softening on resultant critical quantities(residual stress,Almen intensity,coverage,and arc height)after shot peening are systematically examined.A new quantity,i.e.,the interval between impact and representative regions,is introduced and its optimal value is first determined to eliminate any boundary effect on shot peening results.Then,model dimensions are respectively assessed for all model shapes to reflect the actual shot peening process,based on which shape-independent critical shot peening quantities are obtained.Further,it is found that thermal softening of the target material due to shot peening leads to variances of the surface residual stress and arc height,demonstrating the necessity of considering the thermal effect in a constitutive material model of shot peeing.Our study clarifies some of the finite element modeling aspects and lays the ground for accurate modeling of the SP process.Dianyin HU Ye GAO Fanchao MENG Jun SONG Yanfei WANG Mengxi REN Rongqiao WANG 2017Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2017,30,4:13
3The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge显示文摘The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB) is located at the Pearl River Estuary on the southeast coast of China;it is the longest as-build marine crossings made of island, tunnel, and bridge. It links Hong Kong in the east with Zhuhai–Macao in the west with a total length of 55 km. The link was built according to the highway standard of six lanes with three lanes going each way;it has a design speed of 100 km·h^-1 and a design life of 120 years. The HZMB has improved traffic conditions on the east and west sides of the coast of the Pearl River Estuary and strengthened the communication, transportation, and economic integration of the three regions, thus accelerating the formation of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. 4Diaphragm wall-soil-cap interaction in rectangular-closed-diaphragm-wall bridge foundations显示文摘Rectangular-closed-diaphragm-wall foundation is a new type of bridge foundation.Diaphragm wallsoil-cap interaction was studied using a model test.It was observed that the distribution of soil resistance under the cap is not homogeneous.The soil resistance in the corner under the cap is larger than that in the border;and that in the center is the smallest.The distribution of soil resistance under the cap will be more uniform,if the sectional area of soil core is enlarged within a certain range.Due to the existence of cap,there is a“weakening effect”in inner shaft resistance of the upper wall segments,and there is“enhancement effect”in the lower wall segments and in toe resistance.The load shearing percentage of soil resistance under the cap is 10%–20%.It is unreasonable to ignore the effects of the cap and the soil resistance under the cap in bearing capacity calculations.Hua WEN Qiangong CHENG Fanchao MENG Xiaodong CHEN 2009Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2009,3,1:5

11Effects of curcumin on hippocampal Bax and Bcl-2 expression and cognitive function of a rat model of Alzheimer's disease显示文摘We tested the effects of curcumin treatment on a rat model of Alzheimer's disease induced by beta-amlyoid (Aβ1-40) expression. We investigated alterations in the expression of the apoptosis-related genes Bax and Bcl-2 in the hippocampus, as well as changes in the spatial memory and cognitive function of the rats. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry results showed that Bax expression was remarkably decreased and Bcl-2 expression was increased in the rat Alzheimer's disease model after curcumin treatment. Morris water maze results showed that the average time of escape latency was shortened in the curcumin treated model rats. 13Significant enhancement of multiple resonant sidebands in a soliton fiber laser显示文摘Resonant sidebands in soliton fiber lasers have garnered substantial interest in recent years due to their crucial role in understanding soliton propagation and interaction dynamics.However,most previous studies and applications were restricted to focusing on only the first few low-order resonant sidebands because higher-order sidebands usually decay exponentially as their wavelengths shift far away from the soliton center and are negligibly weak.Here we report numerically and experimentally significant enhancement of multiple resonant sidebands in a soliton fiber laser mode-locked by a nonlinear polarization evolution mechanism.The birefringence and the gain profile of the laser cavity were shown to be critical for this phenomenon.Multiple intense resonant sidebands were generated whose maximum intensity was more than 30 d B higher than that of the soliton,which is the highest yet reported,to our knowledge.To accurately predict the wavelengths of all high-order resonant sidebands,an explicit formula was derived by taking the third-order dispersion effect into account.The temporal features of multiple orders of resonant sidebands were characterized,which all exhibit exponentially decaying leading edges.This study provides insight into understanding the properties of high-order resonant sidebands in a soliton laser and opens possibilities for constructing multi-wavelength laser sources.TIANQI ZHANG FANCHAO MENG QI YAN CHUANZE ZHANG ZHIXU JIA WEIPING QIN GUANSHI QIN HUAILIANG XU 2023Photonics Research2023,11,11:0
14Cenozoic potassic volcanic rocks from the Keluo and Wudalianchi volcanic districts,northeast China:origin from the new sub-continental lithospheric mantle(SCLM)metasomatized by potassium-rich fluids from delaminated lower crust显示文摘A series of Cenozoic potassium-rich volcanic rocks developed in the Xiaoguli-Keluo-Wudalianchi-Erkeshan districts,northeast China.The source region and potassium-rich mechanism of the potassic rocks remain highly disputed.In this paper,the major elements,trace elements,and Sr-Nd-Pb isotopes of the volcanic rocks in Keluo(KL)and Wudalianchi(WDLC)volcanic districts were analyzed systematically.The results show that the volcanic rocks are characterized by high K2O(4.36wt.%-6.13wt.%),remarkable enrichment in LREEs and LILEs,as well as the strong fractionation of HREEs.The isotopic characteristics with high 87Sr/86Sr(0.704990-0.705272),low 143Nd/144Nd(0.512306-0.512417),low 206Pb/204Pb(16.546-17.135)and 207Pb/204Pb(15.002-15.783)of the volcanic rocks suggest the involvement of EM-I-type mantle.On the basis of the geochemical characteristics,the potassium-rich volcanic magma originated from the new SCLM forming after delamination of the ancient SCLM,with metasomatism of the potassium-rich fluids released from the ancient lower crust during the Late Mesozoic.The proposed genetic model assumes the source which represented by a phlogopite-bearing garnet peridotite(with modal garnet in the range of 2%-10%)experienced very low degrees(i.e.,~0.5)of partial melting.During Cenozoic,the lithosphere in northeast China was affected by the extension and decompression of continental rift,and the metasomatized SCLM underwent low degree partial melting,resulting in the formation of potassium-rich primitive basaltic magma.Fanchao MENG Yulu TIAN Yaoqi ZHOU Jiaqi LIU Gengchao ZUO Qing DU 2022Frontiers of Earth Science2022,16,4:0
15Hydrocarbon accumulation history in Lower Cretaceous in northern slope of Bongor Basin in Chad,Central Africa显示文摘Based on the analysis of the fluid inclusion homogenization temperature and apatite fission track on the northern slope zone of the Bongor Basin in Chad,this paper studied the time and stages of hydrocarbon accumulation in the study area.The results show that:(1)The brine inclusions of the samples from the Kubla and Prosopis formations in the Lower Cretaceous coexisting with the hydrocarbon generally present two sets of peak ranges of homogenization temperature,with the peak ranges of low temperature and high temperature being 75–105℃ and 115–135℃,respectively;(2)The samples from the Kubla and Prosopis formations have experienced five tectonic evolution stages,i.e.,rapid subsidence in the Early Cretaceous,tectonic inversion in the Late Cretaceous,small subsidence in the Paleogene,uplift at the turn of the Paleogene and Neogene,and subsidence since the Miocene,in which the denudation thickness of the Late Cretaceous and after the turn of the Paleogene and Neogene are~1.8 km and~0.5 km,respectively.The cumulative denudation thickness of the two periods is about 2.3 km;(3)Using the brine inclusion homogenization temperature coexisting with the hydrocarbon as the capture temperature of the hydrocarbon,and combining with the apatite fission track thermal history modeling,the result shows that the Kubla and Prosopis formations in the Lower Cretaceous on the northern slope of the Bongor Basin have the same hydrocarbon accumulation time and stages,both of which have undergone two stages of hydrocarbon charging at 80–95 Ma and 65–80 Ma.The first stage of charging corresponds to the initial migration of hydrocarbon at the end of the Early Cretaceous rapid sedimentation,while the second stage of charging is in the stage of intense tectonic inversion in the Late Cretaceous.WANG Li NIE Zhiquan DU Yebo WANG Lin MENG Fanchao CHEN Yuliu HU Jie DING Ruxin 2024Petroleum Exploration and Development2024,51,1:0
16RuO_(2)-PdO nanowire networks with rich interfaces and defects supported on carbon toward the efficient alkaline hydrogen oxidation reaction显示文摘Interfacial engineering is a promising approach for enhancing electrochemical performance,but rich and efficient interfacial active sites remain a challenge in fabrication.Herein,RuO_(2)-PdO heterostructure nanowire networks(NWs) with rich interfaces and defects supported on carbon(RuO_(2)-PdO NWs/C) for alkaline hydrogen oxidation reaction(HOR) was formed by a seed induction-oriented attachment-thermal treatment method for the first time.As expected,the RuO_(2)-PdO NWs/C(72.8% Ru atomic content in metal) exhibits an excellent activity in alkaline HOR with a mass specific exchange current density(jo,m) of 1061 A gRuPd-1,which is 3.1 times of commercial Pt/C and better than most of the reported nonPt noble metal HOR electrocatalysts.Even at the high potential(~0.5 V vs.RHE) or the presence of CO(5 vol%),the RuO_(2)-PdO NWs/C still effectively catalyzes the alkaline HOR.Structure/electrochemical analysis and theoretical calculations reveal that the interfaces between RuO_(2) and PdO act as the active sites.The electronic interactions between the two species and the rich defects for the interfacial active sites weaken the adsorption of Had,also strengthen the adsorption of OHad,and accelerate the alkaline HOR process.Moreover,OHadon RuO_(2) can spillover to the interfaces,keeping the RuO_(2)-PdO NWs/C with the stable current density at higher potential and high resistance to CO poisoning.Yuanyuan Cong Fanchao Meng Haibin Wang Di Dou Qiuping Zhao Chunlei Li Ningshuang Zhang Junying Tian 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,8:0

20Finite Element Prediction of Residual Stress in Rhombic Dodecahedron Ti‑6Al‑4V Titanium Alloy Additively Manufactured by Electron Beam Melting显示文摘In this work,a three-dimensional nonlinear transient thermo-mechanically coupled finite element model(FEM)is established to investigate the variation in temperature and stress fields during electron beam melting(EBM)of rhombic dodecahedron Ti-6Al-4V alloy.The influence of the processing parameters on the temperature and residual stress evolutions was predicted and verified against existing literature data.The calculated results indicate that the interlayer cooling time has very little effect on both the temperature and stress evolutions,indicating that the interlayer cooling time can be set up as short as possible to reduce manufacturing time.It is presented that the residual stress of the intersection is higher than that of non-intersection.With increasing preheating temperature,the residual stress decreases continuously,which is about 20%–30%for every 50℃rise in temperature.The temperature and stress fields repeated every four layers with the complex periodic scanning strategy.Both x and y-component residual stresses are tensile stresses,while z-component stress is weak compressive or tensile stress in typical paths.It is proposed that the interlayer cooling is necessary to obtain a rhombic dodecahedron with low residual stress.These results can bring insights into the understanding of the residual stress during EBM.Shangzhou Zhang Yuankang Wang Bing Zhou Fanchao Meng Hua Zhang Shujun Li Qingmiao Hu Li Zhou 2023Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2023,36,1:0
