1Design and simulation of an integrated end-effector for picking kiwifruit by robot显示文摘The harvesting of fresh kiwifruit is a labor-intensive operation that accounts for more than 25%of annual production costs.Mechanized harvesting technologies are thus being developed to reduce labor requirements for harvesting kiwifruit.To improve the efficiency of a harvesting robot for picking kiwifruit,we designed an end-effector,which we report herein along with the results of tests to verify its operation.By using the established method of automated picking discussed in the literature and which is based on the characteristics of kiwifruit,we propose an automated method to pick kiwifruit that consists of separating the fruit from its stem on the tree.This method is experimentally verified by using it to pick clustered kiwifruit in a scaffolding canopy cultivation.In the experiment,the end-effector approaches a fruit from below and then envelops and grabs it with two bionic fingers.The fingers are then bent to separate the fruit from its stem.The grabbing,picking,and unloading processes are integrated,with automated picking and unloading performed using a connecting rod linkage following a trajectory model.The trajectory was analyzed and validated by using a simulation implemented in the software Automatic Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems(ADAMS).In addition,a prototype of an end-effector was constructed,and its bionic fingers were equipped with fiber sensors to detect the best position for grabbing the kiwifruit and pressure sensors to ensure that the damage threshold was respected while picking.Tolerances for size and shape were incorporated by following a trajectory groove from grabbing and picking to unloading.The end-effector separates clustered kiwifruit and automatically grabs individual fruits.It takes on average 4–5 s to pick a single fruit,with a successful picking rate of 94.2%in an orchard test featuring 240 samples.This study shows the grabbing–picking–unloading robotic end-effector has significant potential to facilitate the harvesting of kiwifruit.Longtao Mu Gongpei Cui Yadong Liu Yongjie Cui Longsheng Fu Yoshinori Gejima 2020Information Processing in Agriculture2020,7,1:6

3Investigation into dynamic response of regional sites to seismic waves using shaking table testing显示文摘This study addresses the changes in acceleration,pore water pressure and Fourier spectrums of different types of seismic waves with various amplitudes via large-scale shaking table tests from two sites:a sand-containing regional site and an all-clay site.Comparative analyses of the test results show that the pore water pressures in sand-soil layers of the regional site initially increase and then decrease as the amplitudes of the seismic accelerations increase.The actions of the vertical and vibrational seismic waves contribute to greater pore water pressures.The amplification coefficient of the sand-layer regional site becomes smaller as the seismic waves grow stronger,so that both sites are capable of filtering high frequencies and amplifying low frequencies of seismic waves.This is more apparent with the increase in the peak value of the acceleration,and the natural vibration frequencies of both sites decrease with the transmission of the seismic waves from the basement to the ground surface.The decreasing frequency value of the sand-containing regional site is smaller than that of the all-clay site.Li Yadong Cui Jie Guan Tianding Jing Liping 2015Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2015,14,3:3
4Strontium modulates osteogenic activity of bone cement composed of bioactive borosilicate glass particles by activating Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway显示文摘There is a need for synthetic grafts to reconstruct large bone defects using minimal invasive surgery.Our previous study showed that incorporation of Sr into bioactive borate glass cement enhanced the osteogenic capacity in vivo.However,the amount of Sr in the cement to provide an optimal combination of physicochemical properties and capacity to stimulate bone regeneration and the underlying molecular mechanism of this stimulation is yet to be determined.In this study,bone cements composed of bioactive borosilicate glass particles substituted with varying amounts of Sr(0 mol%to 12 mol%SrO)were created and evaluated in vitro and in vivo.The setting time of the cement increased with Sr substitution of the glass.Upon immersion in PBS,the cement degraded and converted more slowly to HA(hydroxyapatite)with increasing Sr substitution.The released Sr2+modulated the proliferation,differentiation,and mineralization of hBMSCs(human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells)in vitro.Osteogenic characteristics were optimally enhanced with cement(designated BG6Sr)composed of particles substituted with 6mol%SrO.When implanted in rabbit femoral condyle defects,BG6Sr cement supported better peri-implant bone formation and bone-implant contact,comparing to cements substituted with 0mol%or 9mol%SrO.The underlying mechanism is involved in the activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in osteogenic differentiation of hBMSCs.These results indicate that BG6Sr cement has a promising combination of physicochemical properties and biological performance for minimally invasive healing of bone defects.Xu Cui Yadong Zhang Jianyun Wang Chengcheng Huang Yudong Wang Hongsheng Yang Wenlong Liu Ting Wang Deping Wang Guocheng Wang Changshun Ruan Dafu Chen William W.Lu Wenhai Huang Mohamed N.Rahaman Haobo Pan 2020Bioactive Materials2020,5,2:3

7Regulating Li transport in Li-magnesium alloy for dendrite free Li metal anode显示文摘Li metal has become a strong candidate for anode due to its high theoretical specific capacity and lowest electrochemical potential.However,the poor reversibility caused by continuous chemical and electrochemical degradation hinders the practical application of Li metal.Solid-solution-based metal alloy phases have been proposed as hosts for regulating the non-dendrite electrodeposition,but the fundamental understanding remains unclear due to the drastically different deposition behaviors of Li on them.Here we found the difference in the diffusion coefficient of Li atoms on solid-solution-based metal alloy phases(Li-Mg and Li-Ag alloys)was a major contributor to the different deposition behaviors.The low Li atom diffusion coefficient of Li-Mg alloy showed a preferential Li accumulation on the upper surface rather than the inward-growth plating of Li atoms into alloy foil in Li-Ag alloy.By the process of secondary recrystallization,we improved the diffusion coefficient of Li atoms in Li-Mg alloy that facilitates the inward transfer rather than surface plating of Li atoms.In this case,the recrystallized Li-Mg alloy underwent a solidsolution phase change in the delithiation-lithiation cycles which yielded a high Coulombic efficiency of 99.3%with a reversible gravimetric capacity of 2,874 mAh·g−1 and superior cycling stability over 5,000 h without dendrite growth.Jinxi Wang Yadong Ye Hongmin Zhou Wei Zhang Zhaowei Sun Jiawen Zhu Hongchang Jin Huanyu Xie Haoliang Huang Yi Cui Rong Huang Zezhong Li Song Jin Hengxing Ji 2023Nano Research2023,16,6:0

9Revealing the surface atomic arrangement of noble metal alkane dehydrogenation catalysts by a stepwise reduction-oxidation approach显示文摘Surface characterization of metal nanoparticles is a critical need in nanocatalysis for in-depth understanding of the structure-function relationships.The surface structure of nanoparticles is often different from the subsurface,and it is challenging to separately characterize the surface and the subsurface.In this work,theoretical calculations and extended X-ray absorption fine structure(EXAFS)analysis illustrate that the surface atoms of noble metals(Pt and Pd)are oxidized in the air,while the subsurface atoms are not easily oxidized.Taking advantage of the oxidation properties,we suggest a stepwise reduction-oxidation approach to determine the surface atomic arrangement of noble metal nanoparticles,and confirm the rationality of this approach by identifying the surface structure of typical 2-3 nm Pt and Pd nanoparticles.The reduction-oxidation approach is applied to characterize the surface structure of model Pd-Sb bimetallic catalyst,which illustrates that the surface Pd is well isolated by Sb atoms with short bond distance at 2.70Å,while there are still Pd-Pd bonds in the subsurface.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations and Pd L edge X-ray absorption near edge structure(XANES)indicate that the isolation of surface Pd significantly decreases the adsorption energies of Pd-hydrocarbon,which leads to the high propylene selectivity and turnover frequency Pd-Sb bimetallic catalyst for propane dehydrogenation.Chenliang Ye Mao Peng Tingting Cui Xinxin Tang Dingsheng Wang Miaolun Jiao Jeffrey T.Miller Yadong Li 2023Nano Research2023,16,4:0
10Seco-cyclic phorbol derivatives and their anti-HIV-1 activities显示文摘Phorbol esters are recognized for their dual role as anti-HIV-1 agents and as activators of protein kinase C(PKC).The efficacy of phorbol esters in binding with PKC is attributed to the presence of oxygen groups at positions C20,C3/C4,and C9 of phorbol.Concurrently,the lipids located at positions C12/C13 are essential for both the anti-HIV-1 activity and the formation of the PKC-ligand complex.The influence of the cyclopropane ring at positions C13 and C14 in phorbol derivatives on their anti-HIV-1 activity requires further exploration.This research entailed the hydrolysis of phorbol,producing seco-cyclic phorbol derivatives.The anti-HIV-1 efficacy of these derivatives was assessed,and the affinity constant(Kd)for PKC-δprotein of selected seco-cyclic phorbol derivatives was determined through isothermal titration calorimetry.The findings suggest that the chemical modification of cyclopropanols could affect both the anti-HIV-1 activity and the PKC binding affinity.Remarkably,compound S11,with an EC50 of 0.27μmol·L^(−1) and a CC50 of 153.92μmol·L^(−1),demonstrated a potent inhibitory effect on the intermediate products of HIV-1 reverse transcription(ssDNA and 2LTR),likely acting at the viral entry stage,yet showed no affinity for the PKC-δprotein.These results position compound S11 as a potential candidate for further preclinical investigation and for studies aimed at elucidating the pharmacological mechanism underlying its anti-HIV-1 activity.HUANG Xiaolei HUANG Xusheng LI Qirun MA Mengdi CUI Yadong YANG Liumeng WANG Haibo LUO Ronghua CHEN Jinglei YANG Jingxuan LIN Jinrong LI Duxin ZHENG Yongtang ZHANG Jian 2024Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2024,22,4:0

14Temperature difference-enhanced salinity gradient energy conversion enabled by thermostable hydrogel membrane with anti-swelling property显示文摘Coupling low-grade heat(LGH)with salinity gradient is an effective approach to increase the efficiency of the nanofluidic-membrane-based power generator.However,it is a challenge to fabricate membranes with high charge density that ensures ion permselectivity,while maintaining chemical and mechanical stability in this composite environment.Here,we develop a bis[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]phosphate(BMAP)hydrogel membrane with good thermal stability and anti-swelling property through self-crosslinking of the selected monomer.By taking advantage of negative space charge and three-dimensional(3D)interconnected nanochannels,salinity gradient energy conversion efficiency is substantially enhanced by temperature difference.Theoretical and experimental results verify that LGH can largely weaken the concentration polarization,promoting transmembrane ion transport.As a result,such a hydrogel membrane delivers high-performance energy conversion with a power density of 11.53 W·m^(−2)under a negative temperature difference(NTD),showing a 193%increase compared with that without NTD.Zhehua Zhang Teng Zhou Xiang-Yu Kong Yadong Wu Weiwen Xin Yanglansen Cui Linsen Yang Tingyang Li Xin Li Qingchen Wang Weipeng Chen Lei Jiang Liping Wen 2023Nano Research2023,16,8:0

16Synthesis and anti-HIV activities of phorbol derivatives显示文摘In this study,37 derivatives of phorbol esters were synthesized and their anti-HIV-1 activities evaluated,building upon our previous synthesis of 51 phorbol derivatives.12-Para-electron-acceptor-trans-cinnamoyl-13-decanoyl phorbol derivatives stood out,demonstrating remarkable anti-HIV-1 activities and inhibitory effects on syncytia formation.These derivatives exhibited a higher safety index compared with the positive control drug.Among them,12-(trans-4-fluorocinnamoyl)-13-decanoyl phorbol,designated as compound 3c,exhibited the most potent anti-HIV-1 activity(EC_(50)2.9 nmol·L^(−1),CC50/EC_(50)11117.24)and significantly inhibited the formation of syncytium(EC_(50)7.0 nmol·L^(−1),CC50/EC_(50)4891.43).Moreover,compound 3c is hypothesized to act both as an HIV-1 entry inhibitor and as an HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitor.Isothermal titration calorimetry and molecular docking studies indicated that compound 3c may also function as a natural activator of protein kinase C(PKC).Therefore,compound 3c emerges as a potential candidate for developing new anti-HIV drugs.HUANG Xiaolei TANG Chengrun HUANG Xusheng YANG Yun LI Qirun MA Mengdi ZHAO Lei YANG Liumeng CUI Yadong ZHANG Zhenqing ZHENG Yongtang ZHANG Jian 2024Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2024,22,2:0
