1Management Recommendations on Sleep Disturbance o Patients with Parkinson's Disease显示文摘INTRODUCTION Sleep disturbance is one of the most common nonmotor symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD).Sleep disturbance affects 40-98% of PD patients in the world. In China, the prevalence of PD patients with sleep disturbance ranges from 47.66% to 89.10%. Sleep disturbance usually has adverse impact on the quality of life of PD patients. Apossible pathogenesis of PD with sleep disturbance include thalamocortical pathway degeneration and changes of neurotransmitter systems. 2Ten cities cross-sectional questionnaire survey of children asthma and other allergies in China显示文摘Asthma,rhinitis and eczema(allergic or non-allergic)have increased throughout the world during the last decades,especially among children.Changes in the indoor environment are suspected to be important causes.China has experienced a dramatic change in indoor environmental exposures during the past two decades.However,such changes and their associations with children’s asthma and other health aspects have not been thoroughly studied.China,Children,Homes,Health(CCHH),Phase I,was a cross-sectional questionnaire survey of 48219 children 1–8 years old in 10 Chinese cities during 2010–2012.The questionnaire includes the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood(ISAAC)core health questions and additional questions regarding housing,life habits and outdoor environment.In health analyses,children aged 3–6 years old were included.The prevalences of doctor diagnosed asthma varied from 1.7%to 9.8%(mean 6.8%),a large increase from 0.91%in 1999 and 1.50%in2000.The prevalence of wheeze,rhinitis and atopic eczema(last 12 months)varied from 13.9%to 23.7%,24.0%to 50.8%and4.8%to 15.8%,respectively.Taiyuan had the lowest prevalences of all illnesses and Shanghai the highest,except for wheezewhere the highest value was for Urumqi.We found(1)no obvious association between disease prevalences and ambient PM10concentrations and(2)higher prevalences of disease in humid climates with hot summers and cold winters,but with no centrally heated buildings.Associations between the diseases and economic status as indexed by Gross Domestic Product(GDP)requires further study.ZHANG YinPing LI BaiZhan HUANG Chen YANG Xu QIAN Hua DENG QiHong ZHAO ZhuoHui LI AnGui ZHAO JiaNing ZHANG Xin QU Fang HU Yu YANG Qin WANG Juan ZHANG Ming WANG Fang ZHENG XiaoHong LU Chan LIU ZhiJian SUN YueXia MO JinHan ZHAO YiLi LIU Wei WANG TingTing NORBCK Dan BORNEHAG Carl-Gustaf SUNDELL Jan 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,34:22

4Acupuncture treatment of lung-spleen Qi deficiency in stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a randomized, open-label, controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture that reinforces the spleen to strengthen the lung in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).METHODS:This was a randomized,open-controlled trial in which the acupuncturist and the participants were not blinded,but the outcome evalu-ators and data analysts were blinded.One-hundred-and-two patients with stable COPD were randomly divided into two groups in a 1∶1 ratio.The acupuncture group received 30-minute sessions of acupuncture therapy at the same acupoints three times weekly for 6 weeks in addition to routine conventional Western Medicine treatment;the control group received routine conventional Western Medicine treatment alone.The primary outcome was the Borg scale score,which was assessed immediately after the 6-minute walk test.The secondary outcomes were the 6-minute walk distance,lung function,and oxygen saturation.Measurements were obtained at baseline and after 6 weeks of treatment.RESULTS:After 6 weeks of treatment,the Borg scale score in the acupuncture group was significantly better than that in the control group(2.02±0.71 versus 5.01±0.34,P<0.05).Furthermore,the post-treatment improvements in the 6-minute walk distance,lung function,and oxygen saturation were significantly greater in the acupuncture group than in the control group,showing that the acupuncture group had better exercise tolerance.CONCLUSION:The findings suggest that acupuncture that aims to reinforce the spleen to strengthen the lung is a safe and effective adjuvant therapy that effectively improves the exercise capacity of patients with stable COPD.Li Yu Xiong Chan Zeng Yan Wei Hua Zhuang Guangtong Zhao Lihong Li Chenyi Li Lin Qin Erqi Chen Xiaoqin Fu Juanjuan 2019Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2019,39,6:13

8Evidence of compliance with and effectiveness of guidelines for noninvasive prenatal testing in China:a retrospective study of 189,809 cases显示文摘In China,the medical guidelines recommend performing noninvasive prenatal testing(NIPT)with caution for pregnant women aged 35 years or older.However,the Mother and Child Health Care Law suggests that all primiparous women whose age is older than 35 years undergo prenatal diagnosis.These two inconsistent suggestions/recommendations have made obstetricians confused about whether to offer NIPT to these older pregnant women.To face this issue and find out the solution we performed a retrospective study of 189,809 NIPT samples collected from 28 provincial-leveled administrative units in China.Of 1,564 women with high-risk pregnancies who underwent NIPT,459(29.3%)did not participate in follow-up.The compound sensitivity and specificity of NIPT for trisomies 21,18 and 13 detection was 99.1%(95%CI,98.0%–99.6%)and 99.9%(95%CI,98.8%–99.9%),respectively.In secundiparous women,NIPT showed high sensitivity and specificity similar to that in primiparous women.The observed risk for trisomies 21 and 18 significantly increased when the maternal age was 39 and older.After the publication of the current NIPT policy,the follow-up rate at our center was 97.9%;however,a large number of women are not in maternal and infant care networks nationwide,and that makes the follow-up rate outside our center relatively low.Our study shows that to balance the prevention of major aneuploidies and the limited resources for prenatal diagnosis,the cut-off age of 35 for invasive prenatal diagnosis might be unnecessary.Although the NIPT guidelines are well written,how to practice it effectively,especially in less industrialized areas,is worth discussing.Chan Tian Tao Deng Xiuhuang Zhu Chen Gong Yangyu Zhao Yuan Wei Rong Li Xiufeng Xu Miaonan He Zhiwei Zhang Jing Cheng Mol BenWillem Jie Qiao 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,3:10

10Overexpression of the Suaeda salsa SsNHX1 gene confers enhanced salt and drought tolerance to transgenic Zea mays显示文摘Maize is one of the most important crops worldwide, but it suffers from salt stress when grown in saline-alkaline soil. There is therefore an urgent need to improve maize salt tolerance and crop yield. In this study, the SsNHX1 gene of Suaeda salsa, which encodes a vacuolar membrane Na^+/H^+ antiporter, was transformed into the maize inbred line 18-599 by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Transgenic maize plants overexpressing the SsNHX1 gene showed less growth retardation when treated with an increasing NaCl gradient of up to 1%, indicating enhanced salt tolerance. The improved salt tolerance of transgenic plants was also demonstrated by a significantly elevated seed germination rate(79%) and a reduction in seminal root length inhibition. Moreover, transgenic plants under salt stress exhibited less physiological damage. SsNHX1-overexpressing transgenic maize accumulated more Na^+ and K^+ than wild-type(WT) plants particularly in the leaves, resulting in a higher ratio of K^+/Na^+ in the leaves under salt stress. This result revealed that the improved salt tolerance of SsNHX1-overexpressing transgenic maize plants was likely attributed to SsNHX1-mediated localization of Na^+ to vacuoles and subsequent maintenance of the cytosolic ionic balance. In addition, SsNHX1 overexpression also improved the drought tolerance of the transgenic maize plants, as rehydrated transgenic plants were restored to normal growth while WT plants did not grow normally after dehydration treatment. 11Disease Progression, Response to ACEI/ATRA Therapy and Influence of ACE Gene in IgA Nephritis显示文摘Various studies have shown that angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) gene insertion/deletion (ID) polymorphism may play a role in the progression to end stage renal failure (ESRF) in patients with IgA nephritis (IgAN). In this randomized controlled trial, patients were followed up for 5 years to determine their long-term renal outcome to ACEI/ATRA therapy and to ascertain if their ACE gene profile could play a role in determining their response to therapy. Seventy-five patients with IgAN were enlisted. Thirty-seven were on ACEI/ATRA therapy for 62 ± 5 months and thirty-eight were untreated and served as controls. All patients had their ACE gene ID polymorphism genotyped. Compared to controls, treated patients had lower serum creatinine (p < 0.001), lower proteinuria (p < 0.002) and fewer numbers progressing to ESRF (p < 0.002). Among patients with genotype II, there were less ESRF in the treatment group when compared to the untreated control group (p < 0.02). The advantage of therapy was not seen in patients with ID or DD genotypes. ACEI/ATRA therapy was found to be effective in retarding disease progression in IgAN with years to ESRF significantly extended in patients at all levels of renal function, including patients whose outcome were ESRF. Genotyping showed better response to therapy only for those with genotype II. 12Immunosuppressive Treatment of Non-infectious Uveitis:History and Current Choices显示文摘Non-infectious uveitis is one of the leading causes of preventable blindness worldwide. Long-term immunosuppressive treatment is generally required to achieve durable control of inflammation in posterior and panuveitis. Although systemic corticosteroids have been the gold standard of immunosuppressive treatment for uveitis since first introduced in 1950 s,its side effects of long-term use often warrant an adjuvant treatment to reduce the dosage/duration of corticosteroids needed to maintain disease control. Conventional immunosuppressive drugs,classified into alkylating agent,antimetabolites and T cell inhibitors,have been widely used as corticosteroid-sparing agents,each with characteristic safety/tolerance profiles on different uveitis entities. Recently,biologic agents,which target specific molecules in immunopathogenesis of uveitis,have gained great interest as alternative treatments for refractory uveitis based on their favorable safety and effectiveness in a variety of uveitis entities. However,lack of large randomized controlled clinical trials,concerns about efficacy and safety of long-term usage,and economic burden are limiting the use of biologics in non-infectious uveitis. Local administration of immunosuppressive drugs(from corticosteroids to biologics) through intraocular drug delivery systems represent another direction for drug development and is now under intense investigation,but more evidences are needed to support their use as regular alternative treatments for uveitis. With the numerous choices belonging to different treatment modalities(conventional immunosuppressive agents,biologics and local drug delivery systems) on hand,the practice patterns have been reported to vary greatly from center to center. Factors influence uveitis specialists' choices of immunosuppressive agents may be complex and may include personal familiarity,treatment availability,safety/tolerability,effectiveness,patient compliance,cost concerns and suggestions from related specialists such as rheumatologists and pediatricians. 13Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada Disease: Novel Findings and New Insights into the Pathogenesis显示文摘Objective To provide novel spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD OCT) findings of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease as well as new insights into the pathogenesis of this disease. Methods Detailed SD OCT and fluorescein angiography (FA) findings of 18 consecutive VKH patients (11 women and 7 men) from December 2007 to April 2009 who were in acute uveitic stage at presentation were reviewed. All the patients had been followed up for at least 6 months with reevaluation(s) of SD OCT performed in 10 patients. Results Intraretinal cysts were found to be located in various layers of the outer retina. In addition to the photoreceptor layer, they could also be found between the outer plexiform layer and the outer nuclear layer, or spanning the external limiting membrane. On FA, intraretinal cysts could be hypofluorescent, normofluorescent, or hyperfluorescent. Some intraretinal cysts had a characteristic FA pattern, in which a small round hypofluorescent area was surrounded by a ring of hyperfluorescence (donut-shaped dye pooling). Subretinal fibrinoid deposit appeared in acute uveitic stage in two severe VKH patients and seemed to develop from subretinal exudates and evolved into typical subretinal fibrosis. Gradual transfiguration/migration and progressive proliferation/pigmentation of the subretinal fibrinoid deposit/subretinal fibrosis was observed in one patient. Conclusions Intraretinal cysts could form in various layers of the outer retina and may result from extension of choroidal inflammation. 15Recent advances in carbonized non-noble metal–organic frameworks for electrochemical catalyst of oxygen reduction reaction显示文摘The non-noble metal oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) catalysts prepared by carbonization of metal–organic framework(MOF) have attracted more and more attentions in the fields of fuel cells and metal-air batteries due to their unique intrinsic advantages such as high catalytic activity, low price, simple synthesis and good adaptability. Different from the study of traditional high active noble metal catalysts, this review systematically summarizes recent developments on non-noble metal(Fe,Co, Cu, Ni, Mn and Mo) ORR catalysts prepared by various MOFs carbonization in different metal centers. The effects of synthesis strategies and pyrolysis conditions on the catalyst properties are discussed. Meanwhile, the key parameters of catalytic performances(including active sites, dispersed state and specific surface area) are discussed and the prospect is presented. 17The dispersion characteristics of the waves propagating in a spinning single-walled carbon nanotube显示文摘As the nano-motor becomes a mechanical reality, its prototype can be envisaged as nano-sized rotating machinery at a situation,albeit for different purposes, like that in the first half of the 20th century during which rotor dynamics has contributed toboosting machine power capacity. Accordingly, we take the benefit of hindsight to develop a classical framework of vibrationanalysis. Essentially, the equations of motion are formulated to cope with both the special carbon-nanotube properties and thefirst author’s previously developed spinning beam formalism, establishing a model satisfactorily verified by some availablemolecular dynamics (MD) data and classical spinning beam results extracted from the literature. The model is inexpensivebased on continuum mechanics as an alternative to the less-flexible MD method for simulating wave motion of the spinningsingle-walled carbon nanotube, yielding several interesting phenomena, including the fall-off and splitting of the wave charac-teristic curves and the unexpected gyroscopic phase property. 18Varicella-zoster virus as a causative agent of acute retinal necrosis in younger patients显示文摘Background: Herpes virus is considered to be the pathogen of acute retinal necrosis (ARN) infection. Previous studies have that patients with ARN caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV) are often older, and patients with herpes simplex virus (HSV) induced ARN are considerably younger. However, in our clinical work, we find that VZV is also a pathogen in younger ARN patients. We, therefore, aimed to analyze the common etiology of younger ARN patients. Methods: A retrospective analysis was made of 20 eyes (18 patients) diagnosed as having ARN in the Department of Ophthalmology of Peking Union Medical College Hospital from 2014 to 2016. All patients were reviewed for demographic data, clinical course, clinical manifestations, time from onset to initial physician visit, duration of follow-up, visual acuity at both presentation and final visit, and treatment strategies. A paired t test was used to compare visual acuity between the presenting vision and those of final follow-up. Vitreous or aqueous specimens from 18 eyes of 18 patients were analyzed with multiplex polymerase chain reaction (mPCR)/quantitative PCR (qPCR) and xTAG-liquid chip technology (xTAG-LCT) to determine the causative virus of ARN. Results: Final best visual acuity (BCVA) improved significantly from 1.36±0.95 (median 20/400) to 0.95±0.82 (median 20/100)¢=2.714, P = 0.015) after systemic and intravitreal antiviral treatment combined with or without pars plana vitrectomy. PCR and xTAG-LCT results showed four of the five samples in the younger group (32.2±5.2 years) and 12 of the 13 samples in the senior group (53.6±4.9 years) were positive for VZV, and two of the five samples in the younger group were positive for HSV-1. Conclusions: This study demonstrates that VZV is also a common causative virus for ARN in younger patients. 20Study on the adoption of Schwann Cell Phenotype by Bone Marrow Stromal Cells in vitro and in vivo显示文摘Objective To explore the possibilities of bone marrow stromal cells (MSCs) to adopt Schwann cell phenotype in vitro and in vivo in SD rats. Methods MSCs were obtained from tibia and femur bone marrow and cultured in culture flasks. Beta-mercaptoethanol followed by retinoic acid, forskolin, basic-FGF, PDGF and heregulin were added to induce differentiation of MSCs’. Schwann cell markers, p75, S-100 and GFAP were used to discriminate induced properties of MSCs’ by immunofluorescent staining. PKH-67-labelled MSCs were transplanted into the mechanically injured rat sciatic nerve, and laser confocal microscopy was performed to localize the PKH67 labelled MSCs in the injured sciatic nerve two weeks after the operation. Fluorescence PKH67 attenuation rule was evaluated by flow cytometry in vitro. Results MSCs changed morphologically into cells resembling primary cultured Schwann cells after their induction in vitro. In vivo, a large number of MSCs were cumulated within the layer of epineurium around the injured nerve and expressed Schwann cell markers, p75, S-100, and GFAP.
