1Carbon dioxide insufflation in esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection reduces mediastinal emphysema: A randomized, double-blind, controlled trial显示文摘AIM To assess the efficacy of CO2 insufflation for reduction of mediastinal emphysema(ME) immediately after endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD).METHODS A total of 46 patients who were to undergo esophageal ESD were randomly assigned to receive either CO2 insufflation(CO2 group, n = 24) or air insufflation(Air group, n = 22). Computed tomography(CT) was carried out immediately after ESD and the next morning. Pain and abdominal distention were chronologically recorded using a 100-mm visual analogue scale(VAS). The volume of residual gas in the digestive tract was measured using CT imaging. RESULTS The incidence of ME immediately after ESD in the CO2 group was significantly lower than that in the Air group(17% vs 55%, P = 0.012). The incidence of ME the next morning was 8.3% vs 32% respectively(P= 0.066). There were no differences in pain scores or distention scores at any post-procedure time points. The volume of residual gas in the digestive tract immediately after ESD was significantly smaller in the CO2 group than that in the Air group(808 m L vs 1173 m L, P = 0.013).CONCLUSION CO2 insufflation during esophageal ESD significantly reduced postprocedural ME. 2Clinicopathological features of small T1 colorectal cancers显示文摘BACKGROUND Although small colorectal neoplasms(<10 mm)are often easily resected endoscopically and are considered to have less malignant potential compared with large neoplasms(≥10 mm),some are invasive to the submucosa.AIM To clarify the clinicopathological features of small T1 colorectal cancers.METHODS Of 32025 colorectal lesions between April 2001 and March 2018,a total of 1152 T1 colorectal cancers resected endoscopically or surgically were included in this study and were divided into two groups by tumor size:a small group(<10 mm)and a large group(≥10 mm).We compared clinicopathological factors including lymph node metastasis(LNM)between the two groups.RESULTS The incidence of small T1 cancers was 10.1%(116/1152).The percentage of initial endoscopic treatment in small group was significantly higher than in large group(<10 mm 74.1%vs≥10 mm 60.2%,P<0.01).In the surgical resection cohort(n=798),the rate of LNM did not significantly differ between the two groups(small 12.3%vs large 10.9%,P=0.70).In addition,there were also no significant differences between the two groups in pathological factors such as histological grade,vascular invasion,or lymphatic invasion.CONCLUSION Because there was no significant difference in the rate of LNM between small and large T1 colorectal cancers,the requirement for additional surgical resection should be determined according to pathological findings,regardless of tumor size.Yuki Takashina Shin-Ei Kudo Katsuro Ichimasa Yuta Kouyama Kenichi Mochizuki Yoshika Akimoto Yasuharu Maeda Yuichi Mori Masashi Misawa Noriyuki Ogata Toyoki Kudo Tomokazu Hisayuki Takemasa Hayashi Kunihiko Wakamura Naruhiko Sawada Toshiyuki Baba Fumio Ishida Kazunori Yokoyama Mitsuru Daita Tetsuo Nemoto Hideyuki Miyachi 2021World Journal of Clinical Cases2021,9,33:1

6Color representation method using RGB color binary-weighted computer-generated holograms显示文摘We propose a method for color electroholography using a simple red–green–blue(RGB) gradation representation method without controlling the respective brightness of the reference RGB-colored lights. The proposed method uses RGB multiple bit planes comprising RGB binary-weighted computer-generated holograms with various light transmittances. The object points of a given three-dimensional(3D) object are assigned to RGB multiple bit planes according to their RGB gradation levels. The RGB multiple bit planes are sequentially displayed in a time-division-multiplexed manner. 11Gradation representation method using a binary-weighted computer-generated hologram based on pulse-width modulation显示文摘We propose a simple gradation representation method using a binary-weighted computer-generated hologram(CGH) to be displayed on a high-speed spatial light modulator that can be controlled by the pulse-width modulation technique. The proposed method uses multiple bit planes comprising binary-weighted CGHs with various pulse widths. The object points of a three-dimensional(3D) object are assigned to multiple bit planes according to their gray levels. 13Fast time-division color electroholography using a multiple-graphics processing unit cluster system with a single spatial light modulator显示文摘We demonstrate fast time-division color electroholography using a multiple-graphics-processing-unit(GPU) cluster system with a spatial light modulator and a controller to switch the color of the reconstructing light. The controller comprises a universal serial bus module to drive the liquid crystal optical shutters. By using the controller, the computer-generated hologram(CGH) display node of the multiple-GPU cluster system synchronizes the display of the CGH with the color switching of the reconstructing light.
