1Resveratrol improves cognition and reduces oxidative stress in rats with vascular dementia显示文摘Resveratrol possesses beneficial biological effects,which include anti-oxidant,anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic properties.Recently,resveratrol has been shown to exhibit neuroprotective effects in models of Parkinson's disease,cerebral ischemia and Alzheimer's disease.However,its effects on vascular dementia remain unclear.The present study established a rat model of vascular dementia using permanent bilateral common carotid artery occlusion.At 8-12 weeks after model induction,rats were intragastrically administered 25 mg/kg resveratrol daily.Our results found that resveratrol shortened the escape latency and escape distances in the Morris water maze,and prolonged the time spent percentage and swimming distance percentage in the target quadrant during the probe test,indicating that resveratrol improved learning and memory ability in vascular dementia rats.Further experiments found that resveratrol decreased malonyldialdehyde levels,and increased superoxide dismutase activity and glutathione levels in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex of vascular dementia rats.These results confirmed that the neuroprotective effects of resveratrol on vascular dementia were associated with its anti-oxidant properties.Xingrong Ma Zhikun Sun Yanru Liu Yanjie Jia Boai Zhang Jiewen Zhang 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,22:7
2Pulping performance of transgenic poplar with depressed Caffeoyl-CoA O-methyltransferase显示文摘This paper evaluated pulping performance of 3-year-old field-grown transgenic poplar (Populus tremula × Populus alba). The transgenic poplar with anti-sense CCoAOMT had an about 13% decreased lignin content, in which a slight increment was found in S/G ratio. Chemical analysis showed that the transgenic poplar had significantly less benezene-ethanol extractive than that of control wood, but no significant differences were found in contents of ash, cold water extractive, hot water extractive, 1% NaOH extractive, holocellulose, pentosans and cellulose. Fiber assay demonstrated that down-regulation of CCoAOMT expression improved the fiber quality in transgenic poplar. 3NDUFAB1 confers cardio-protection by enhancing mitochondrial bioenergetics through coordination of respiratory complex and supercomplex assembly显示文摘The impairment of mitochondrial bioenergetics,often coupled with exaggerated reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, is a fundamental disease mechanism in organs with a high demand for energy, including the heart. Building a more robust and safer cellular powerhouse holds the promise for protecting these organs in stressful conditions. Here, we demonstrate that NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase subunit AB1 (NDUFAB1), also known as mitochondrial acyl carrier protein, acts as a powerful cardio-protector by conferring greater capacity and efficiency of mitochondrial energy metabolism. In particular, NDUFAB1 not only serves as a complex I subunit, but also coordinates the assembly of respiratory complexes I, II, and III, and supercomplexes, through regulating iron-sulfur biosynthesis and complex I subunit stability. Cardiac-specific deletion of Ndufab1 in mice caused defective bioenergetics and elevated ROS levels, leading to progressive dilated cardiomyopathy and eventual heart failure and sudden death. Overexpression of Ndufab1 effectively enhanced mitochondrial bioenergetics while limiting ROS production and protected the heart against ischemia-reperfusion injury. 5Morphological and physiological analysis of narrow and striped leaf 1(nsl1) mutant of rice(Oryza sativa L.) and the gene mapping显示文摘The shape and color of rice leaves are important agronomic traits that directly influence the proportion of sunlight energy utilization and ultimately affect the yield and quality.A new mutant exhibiting stable inheritance was identified as derived from ethyl methane sulfonate(EMS)-treated restorer Jinhui 10,tentatively named as narrow and striped leaf 1(nsl1).The nsl1 displayed pale white leaves at the seeding stage and then white striped leaves in parallel to the main vein at the jointing stage.Meanwhile,its leaf blades are significantly narrower than the control group of Jinhui 10.The chloroplast structures of cells in the white striped area of the nsl1 mutant break down,and the photosynthetic pigments are significantly lower than that of the wild type.Moreover,fluorescence parameters,such as F0,F v/F m,U psII,qp,and ETR,in the nsl1 mutant are significantly lower than those of the wild type,and the photosynthetic efficiency is also significantly decreased.These changes in leaf color and shape,together with physiological changes in the nsl1,result in smaller plant height and a decrease in the most important agronomic traits,such as the number of grains per panicle,grain weight,etc.Genetic analysis shows that the narrow and striped traits of the nsl1 mutant are controlled by a single recessive nuclear gene,which is located between InDel 16and InDel 12 in chromosome 3.The physical distance is204 kb.So far,no similar genes of such leaf color and shape in this area have been reported.This study has laid a solid foundation for the gene cloning and function analysis of NSL1.Fangming Zhao Yong Zhang Yanru Wu Tongming Wang Ling Ma Zhenglin Yang Xia Wei Xianchun Sang Yinghua Ling Nan Wang Changwei Zhang Guanghua He 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,9:3

7Anchoring Active Sites by Pt_(2)FeNi Alloy Nanoparticles on NiFe Layered Double Hydroxides for Efficient Electrocatalytic Oxygen Evolution Reaction显示文摘Strategy of anchoring alloy nanoparticles made up of the efficient catalytic element(e.g.,Ni,Fe)on dodecyl sulfate(DS^(-))-intercalated NiFe layered double hydroxides(DS^(-)-NiFe LDH)obtained by a convenient one-step hydrothermal coprecipitation method for essentially enhancing oxygen evolution reaction(OER)performance was proposed.The results of structural characterization indicate Pt_(2)FeNi alloy nanoparticles evenly distribute on the surface of DS^(-)-NiFe LDH.The sizes of the Pt_(2)FeNi nanoparticles,closely related to their OER performance,could be wellcontrolled by adjusting the amount of H;PtCl;addition.The composite structure of as-prepared product was stable during processes of synthesis,exfoliation,self-assembly,and subsequent electrocatalytic OER.Rigorous electrochemical test proving the contributing catalytic active sites was located at the interface between Pt_(2)FeNi and DS^(-)-NiFe LDH,and the Ni and Fe were the major active elements while O atoms are adsorption sites.The formation of Pt_(2)FeNi nanoparticles could greatly prompt the reduction of Tafel slope.The best-performing Pt_(2)FeNi/DS^(-)-NiFe LDH with a Pt content of 0.98 wt%achieved low overpotential of 204 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2)and 262 mV at 50 mA cm^(-2).This work provides a convenient and effective strategy to create additional active sites for enhancing OER performance of NiFe LDH and make contribution to its wide application.Zhicheng Zheng Yanru Guo Hao Wan Gen Chen Ning Zhang Wei Ma Xiaohe Liu Shuquan Liang Renzhi Ma 2022Energy & Environmental Materials2022,5,1:1
8Preliminary report of the September 5,2022 M_(S) 6.8 Luding earthquake,Sichuan,China显示文摘The 2022 M_(S)6.8 Luding earthquake is the strongest earthquake in Sichuan Province, Western China, since the 2017 M_(S)7.0 Jiuzhaigou earthquake. It occurred on the Moxi fault in the southeastern segment of the Xianshuihe fault, a tectonically active and mountainous region with severe secondary earthquake disasters. To better understand the seismogenic mechanism and provide scientific support for future hazard mitigation, we summarize the preliminary results of the Luding earthquake, including seismotectonic background, seismicity and mainshock source characteristics and aftershock properties, and direct and secondary damage associated with the mainshock.The peak ground displacements in the NS and EW directions observed by the nearest GNSS station SCCM are ~35 mm and ~55 mm, respectively, resulting in the maximum coseismic dislocation of 20 mm along the NWW direction, which is consistent with the sinistral slip on the Xianshuihe fault. Back-projection of teleseismic P waves suggest that the mainshock rupture propagated toward south-southeast. The seismic intensity of the mainshock estimated from the back-projection results indicates a Mercalli scale of Ⅷ or above near the ruptured area,consistent with the results from instrumental measurements and field surveys. Numerous aftershocks were reported, with the largest being M_(S)4.5. Aftershock locations(up to September 18, 2022) exhibit 3 clusters spanning an area of 100 km long and 30 km wide. The magnitude and rate of aftershocks decreased as expected, and the depths became shallower with time. The mainshock and two aftershocks show left-lateral strike-slip focal mechanisms. For the aftershock sequence, the b-value from the Gutenberg-Richter frequency-magnitude relationship, h-value, and p-value for Omori’s law for aftershock decay are 0.81, 1.4, and 1.21, respectively, indicating that this is a typical mainshock-aftershock sequence. The low b-value implies high background stress in the hypocenter region. Analysis from remote sensing satellite images and UAV data shows that the distribution of earthquake-triggered landslides was consistent with the aftershock area. 10Study on dynamic sorption characteristics of modified biochars for ammonium in biogas slurry显示文摘The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between ammonium(NH^(+)_(4)-N)dynamic sorption capacity and physicochemical properties of modified biochars.Biochars,producing from three species of agricultural wastes of cornstalk(A),corncob(B)and sawdust(C)at 550°C,600°C and 650°C,were modified by four methods of NaOH plus microwave(NaM),KOH(K),FeCl 3(Fe)and HNO 3(H).The static and dynamic adsorption experiments were conducted to investigate sorption characteristics of modified biochars on NH^(+)_(4)-N in slurry of piggery manure anaerobic digestate.Four modified biochars with better NH^(+)_(4)-N adsorption rates were selected through static kinetics adsorption tests,which showed that chemical reactions might have occurred during the NH^(+)_(4)-N sorption process and the maximum NH^(+)_(4)-N removal rates of B-550-Fe,A-550-NaM,A-550-K and C-600-NaM were 66.64%,57.50%,52.39%and 45.20%,respectively.The dynamic adsorption column experiment was conducted in a three-stage adsorption column packed with the selected three modified biochars.NH^(+)_(4)-N dynamic adsorption depended on the slurry inflow flow rate,the type of biochar and the depth of packed biochar.The optimal adsorption process was elected by the method of orthogonal experiment.The data showed that using deeper packed biochar and applying lower flow rates could be a better strategy to increase NH^(+)_(4)-N adsorption.The maximum NH^(+)_(4)-N removal rate in the slurry could reach 85.60%in the three-stage adsorption process.It concluded that NH^(+)_(4)-N adsorption in three-stage adsorption process could be an effective method to recover nitrogen from piggery manure anaerobic digestate.Jingtao Ding Yujun Shen Yanru Ma Haibo Meng Hongsheng Cheng Xi Zhang Jian Wang Pengyue Zhang 2020International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,1:0

13Untargeted and targeted mass spectrometry reveal the effects of theanine on the central and peripheral metabolomics of chronic unpredictable mild stress-induced depression in juvenile rats显示文摘L-theanine has been shown to have a therapeutic effect on depression.However,whether L-theanine has an excellent preventive effect on depression in children and adolescents and what its mechanism is have not been well explained.Given the complexity of the pathogenesis of depression,this study investigated the preventive effect and mechanism of L-theanine on depression in juvenile rats by combining serum and hippocampal metabolomic strategies.Behavioral tests,hippocampal tissue sections,and serum and hippocampal biochemical indexes were studied,and the results confirmed the preventive effect of Ltheanine.Untargeted reversed-phase liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry and targeted hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry were developed to analyze the metabolism changes in the serum and hippocampus to screen for potential biomarkers related to L-theanine treatment.The results suggested that 28 abnormal metabolites in the serum and hippocampus that were considered as potential biomarkers returned to nearnormal levels after L-theanine administration.These biomarkers were involved in various metabolic pathways,mainly including amino acid metabolism and lipid metabolism.The levels of amino acids and neurotransmitters in the phenylalanine,tryptophan,and glutamic acid pathways were significantly reduced after L-theanine administration compared with chronic unpredictable mild stress-induced rats.In summary,L-theanine had a significant preventive effect on depression and achieved its preventive results on depression by regulating various aspects of the body,such as amino acids,lipids,and inflammation.This research systematically analyzed the mechanism of L-theanine in preventing depression and laid the foundation for applying L-theanine to prevent depression in children and adolescents.Yanru Zhu Feng Wang Jiatong Han Yunli Zhao Miao Yu Mingyan Ma Zhiguo Yu 2023Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2023,13,1:0
14Protective effects of gastrodine on dendritic spines in kainic acid-injured neurons显示文摘EphB2 affects neuronal cells by altering the dendritic spines. The present study analyzed the neu-roprotective effects of gastrodine by measuring EphB2 expression in rat neural cells cultured in vitro and injured by kainic acid. Gastrodine (12.5, 25, and 50 mg/L) improved morphology in kainic acid-injured neurons, reduced lactate dehydrogenase leakage, decreased neuronal apoptosis, and increased EphB2 expression in neuronal cells. A moderate dose of 25 mg/L gastrodine resulted in the most significant effects. 15Experimental Study on Core Permittivity of Xinjiang Oilfield显示文摘This paper introduces the principles and procedures of the core permittivity measurement using a parallel capacitor with an electromagnetic shield. The cores from the Xinjiang oilfield were measured by using the frequency-swept method at different salinities and saturations. The effects of salinity, frequency, porosity and saturation on core permittivity were investigated. The relationship of core permittivity versus water saturation and the relationship of dry core permittivity versus porosity were obtained.
