1Focal adhesion protein Kindlin-2 regulates bone homeostasis in mice显示文摘Our recent studies demonstrate that the focal adhesion protein Kindlin-2 is critical for chondrogenesis and early skeletal development. Here, we show that deleting Kindlin-2 from osteoblasts using the 2.3-kb mouse Col1 a1-Cre transgene minimally impacts bone mass in mice, but deleting Kindlin-2 using the 10-kb mouse Dmp1-Cre transgene, which targets osteocytes and mature osteoblasts, results in striking osteopenia in mice. Kindlin-2 loss reduces the osteoblastic population but increases the osteoclastic and adipocytic populations in the bone microenvironment. Kindlin-2 loss upregulates sclerostin in osteocytes,downregulates β-catenin in osteoblasts, and inhibits osteoblast formation and differentiation in vitro and in vivo. Upregulation ofβ-catenin in the mutant cells reverses the osteopenia induced by Kindlin-2 deficiency. Kindlin-2 loss additionally increases the expression of RANKL in osteocytes and increases osteoclast formation and bone resorption. Kindlin-2 deletion in osteocytes promotes osteoclast formation in osteocyte/bone marrow monocyte cocultures, which is significantly blocked by an anti-RANKLneutralizing antibody. 3Effect of system response on partial surge initiated instability in a transonic axial flow compressor显示文摘Partial surge is a type of instability inception in transonic compressors and occurs in the form of axisymmetric low-frequency disturbances localized in the hub region.Previous studies illustrate that the frequency of partial surge is set by the Helmholtz frequency of the entire system,which motivates to propose a hypothesis that the system response performs an important role in the formation of partial surge.For further verification,a series of experiments are conducted to explore the link between the propagating of the partial surge and the system feedback in this study.In the first case,an additional test point is set on the wall of the plenum to detect the system response.Combining the flow behaviors inside the plenum with the disturbances in the rotor tip and stator hub/tip regions,the effects of the system feedback on the occurrence of the continuous disturbances and the rotating stall cells are illustrated.In the second case,a screen is mounted at the compressor outlet to prevent positive feedback from the plenum.The experimental results demonstrate that in the absence of system feedback,it is the occurrence of spike-type stall inception that leads to the flow instability instead of that of partial surge.In addition,three flow phenomena in the second case are discussed,including the occurrence of the single pulse,the unstable process during the stall evolution and the switch of instability inception.Tianyu PAN Zhaoqi YAN Dakun SUN Simin LI Mengzong ZHENG Qiushi LI 2022Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2022,35,2:2

5TRAJECTORY GENERATION AND CONTROL FOR NON-CIRCULAR CNC TURNING显示文摘A trajectory generation method which is based on NURBS interpolation is studied to improve the fitting accuracy and smoothness of non-circular cross section and obtain higher accuracy of the final non-circular profile control.After using the NURBS,the most optimized and smooth trajectory for the linear actuator can be obtained.For the purpose of machining the non-circular cross section by CNC turning,the fast response linear actuator has been used.The control algorithm which is compound control of proportional-integral-differential(PID)and iterative learning control has been developed for non-circular profile generation.By using the NURBS interpolation and the compound control of PID and iterative learning control,the final motion accuracy of linear actuator has been improved,therefore,the machining accuracy of the non-circular turning can be improved.JIANG Simin YAN Han WANG Xiankui 2008Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2008,21,5:1
6Detection and classification of breast lesions using multiple information on contrast-enhanced mammography by a multiprocess deep-learning system: A multicenter study显示文摘Objective: Accurate detection and classification of breast lesions in early stage is crucial to timely formulate effective treatments for patients. We aim to develop a fully automatic system to detect and classify breast lesions using multiple contrast-enhanced mammography(CEM) images.Methods: In this study, a total of 1,903 females who underwent CEM examination from three hospitals were enrolled as the training set, internal testing set, pooled external testing set and prospective testing set. Here we developed a CEM-based multiprocess detection and classification system(MDCS) to perform the task of detection and classification of breast lesions. In this system, we introduced an innovative auxiliary feature fusion(AFF)algorithm that could intelligently incorporates multiple types of information from CEM images. The average freeresponse receiver operating characteristic score(AFROC-Score) was presented to validate system’s detection performance, and the performance of classification was evaluated by area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC). Furthermore, we assessed the diagnostic value of MDCS through visual analysis of disputed cases,comparing its performance and efficiency with that of radiologists and exploring whether it could augment radiologists’ performance.Results: On the pooled external and prospective testing sets, MDCS always maintained a high standalone performance, with AFROC-Scores of 0.953 and 0.963 for detection task, and AUCs for classification were 0.909[95% confidence interval(95% CI): 0.822-0.996] and 0.912(95% CI: 0.840-0.985), respectively. It also achieved higher sensitivity than all senior radiologists and higher specificity than all junior radiologists on pooled external and prospective testing sets. Moreover, MDCS performed superior diagnostic efficiency with an average reading time of 5 seconds, compared to the radiologists’ average reading time of 3.2 min. 7Mechanisms of high-frequency dinoflagellate blooms of Scrippsiella trochoidea in Daya Bay,South China Sea显示文摘Harmful algal blooms(HABs),such as dinoflagellate blooms,have adverse eff ects on coastal water environments,causing seafood contamination and aquaculture economic losses.Based on historical HAB records data(1983-2017)and phytoplankton data(1982-2008),field investigation and laboratory experiments on frequently bloomed dinoflagellate species,we analyzed the possible mechanisms of high frequency dinoflagellate blooms in Daya Bay,South China Sea.The HAB records data show that the proportion of dinoflagellate blooms increased from 15% before 1994 to 77.27% after 2011.The bloom occurred mostly in summer(57.58%)in Yaling Bay(76.92%).The species inducing dinoflagellate blooms tended to be singular over time,with high proportion of Scrippsiella trochoidea(42.86%-88.88%).Laboratory experiment and field investigation of S.trochoidea bloom showed that this species grew rapidly at 30℃ and 32.1℃(r=0.47,P<0.05),respectively.Results indicate that temperature rise in Yaling Bay was aff ected by nearby nuclear plant effluent,which favored the S.trochoidea bloom.Coincidently,nearly 70% of S.trochoidea blooms occurred in about 7 days after local spring tide and strong wind(wind velocity>7 m/s),which disturbed the resting cysts in the sediment and bring them into surface layer.Taking into account of environmental parameters,algae source,and atmospheric conditions,the probable mechanism of S.trochoidea bloom could be explained.The cysts were resuspended by the spring tide or strong wind,germinated at the bottom layer,reproduced rapidly at higher temperature,and then aggregated in the inner bay(Yaling Bay),resulting the frequent S.trochoidea bloom.Considering the influences of global warming and human activities,it should be taken more attention that dinoflagellate blooms might increase along the coastal waters.Yuan TIAN Simin HU Xianzhi LIN Hui HUANG Xingyu SONG Yan YAN Xuedong XIE Tao LI Sheng LIU 2021Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,4:0
8Identification of the candidate gene controlling tiller angle in common wheat through genome-wide association study and linkage analysis显示文摘Wheat tiller angle(TA)is an important agronomic trait that contributes to grain production by affecting plant architecture.It also plays a crucial role in high-yield wheat breeding.An association panel and a recombinant inbred line(RIL)population were used to map quantitative trait loci(QTL)for TA.Results showed that 470 significant SNPs with 10.4%–28.8%phenotypic variance explained(PVE)were detected in four replicates by a genome-wide association study(GWAS).Haplotype analysis showed that the TA_Hap_4B1 locus on chromosome 4B was a major QTL to regulate wheat TA.Ten QTL were totally detected by linkage mapping with the RIL population,and QTA.hau-4B.1 identified in six environments with the PVE of 7.88%–18.82%was a major and stable QTL.A combined analysis demonstrated that both TA_Hap_4B1 and QTA.hau-4B.1 were co-located on the same region.Moreover,QTA.hau-4B.1 was confirmed by bulked segregant RNA-Seq(BSR-Seq)analysis.Phenotypic analysis showed that QTA.hau-4B.1was also closely related to yield traits.Furthermore,Traes CS4B02G049700 was considered as a candidate gene through analysis of gene sequence and expression.This study can be potentially used in cloning key genes modulating wheat tillering and provides valuable genetic resources for improvement of wheat plant architecture.Lei Zhao Canguan Wang Tongzhu Wang Jinyuan Liu Qi Qiao Yulu Yang Pengyu Hu Leilei Zhang Simin Zhao Daiying Chen Yan Ren Ning Zhang Zhongdong Dong Feng Chen 2023The Crop Journal2023,11,3:0
9DT-Net:Joint Dual-Input Transformer and CNN for Retinal Vessel Segmentation显示文摘Retinal vessel segmentation in fundus images plays an essential role in the screening,diagnosis,and treatment of many diseases.The acquired fundus images generally have the following problems:uneven illumination,high noise,and complex structure.It makes vessel segmentation very challenging.Previous methods of retinal vascular segmentation mainly use convolutional neural networks on U Network(U-Net)models,and they have many limitations and shortcomings,such as the loss of microvascular details at the end of the vessels.We address the limitations of convolution by introducing the transformer into retinal vessel segmentation.Therefore,we propose a hybrid method for retinal vessel segmentation based on modulated deformable convolution and the transformer,named DT-Net.Firstly,multi-scale image features are extracted by deformable convolution and multi-head selfattention(MHSA).Secondly,image information is recovered,and vessel morphology is refined by the proposed transformer decoder block.Finally,the local prediction results are obtained by the side output layer.The accuracy of the vessel segmentation is improved by the hybrid loss function.Experimental results show that our method obtains good segmentation performance on Specificity(SP),Sensitivity(SE),Accuracy(ACC),Curve(AUC),and F1-score on three publicly available fundus datasets such as DRIVE,STARE,and CHASE_DB1.Wenran Jia Simin Ma Peng Geng Yan Sun 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,76,9:0
10Observatory science with eXTP显示文摘In this White Paper we present the potential of the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry(eXTP) mission for studies related to Observatory Science targets. These include flaring stars, supernova remnants, accreting white dwarfs, low and high mass X-ray binaries, radio quiet and radio loud active galactic nuclei, tidal disruption events, and gamma-ray bursts. eXTP will be excellently suited to study one common aspect of these objects: their often transient nature.
