1Valence band structure of strained Si/(111)Si_(1-x)Ge_x显示文摘The strained Si techique has been widely adopted in the high-speed and high-performance devices and circuits. Based on the valence band E-k relations of strained Si/(111)Si1-xGex, the valence band and hole effective mass along the [111] and [-110] directions were obtained in this work. In comparison with the relaxed Si, the valence band edge degeneracy was partially lifted, and the significant change was observed band structures along the [111] and [-110] directions, as well as in its corresponding hole effective masses with the increasing Ge fraction. 2Mechanism on impact of internal-electrolysis pretreatment on biodegradability of yeast wastewater显示文摘The internal-electrolysis (IE) process can be used as pretreatment to improve the biodegradability of yeast wastewater. The water before and after IE pretreatment was analyzed by UV, GPC, GC-MS to determine the changes in its chemical composition. The mechanism on the improvement of biodegradability by the IE process was discussed in two aspects according to the changes of chemical composition. (i) Some reactions occurred during the IE process, such as hydrolytic reaction, cracking, and redox reaction. Thus, the cyclic structure opened and changed into chains, and the macromolecular compounds were spilt to small molecule substances. All these reactions tended to simplify the structure of molecules and increase the donating electron groups so as to improve the biodegradability. 5A sulfur dioxide polymer prodrug showing combined effect with doxorubicin in combating subcutaneous and metastatic melanoma显示文摘Melanoma,as the most aggressive and treatment-resistant skin malignancy,is responsible for about 80%of all skin cancer mortalities.Prone to invade into the dermis and form distant metastases significantly reduce the patient survival rate.Therefore,early treatment of the melanoma in situ or timely blocking the deterioration of metastases is critical.In this study,a sulfur dioxide(SO_(2))polymer prodrug was designed as both an intracellular glutathione(GSH)-responsive SO_(2) generator and a carrier of doxorubicin(DOX),and used for the treatment of subcutaneous and metastatic melanoma.Firstly,chemical conjugation of 4-N-(2,4-dinitrobenzenesulfonyl)-imino-1-butyric acid(DIBA)onto the side chains of methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)grafted dextran(mPEG-g-Dex)resulted in the synthesis of the amphiphilic polymer prodrug of SO_(2),mPEG-g-Dex(DIBA).The obtained mPEG-g-Dex(DIBA)could self-assemble into stable micellar nanoparticles and exhibited a glutathione-responsive SO_(2) release behavior.Subsequently,DOX was encapsulated into the core of mPEG-g-Dex(DIBA)micelles to form DOX-loaded nanoparticles(PDDN-DOX).The formed PDDN-DOX could be internalized by B16F10 cells and synchronously release DOX and SO_(2) into the tumor cells.As a result,PDDN-DOX exerted synergistic anti-tumor effects in B16F10 melanoma cells because of the oxidative damage properties of SO_(2) and toxic effects of DOX.Furthermore,in vivo experiments verified that PDDN-DOX had great potential for the treatment of subcutaneous and metastasis melanoma.Collectively,our present work demonstrates that the combination of SO_(2)-based gas therapy and chemotherapeutics offers a new avenue for inhibiting melanoma progression and metastases.Lin An Peng Zhang Wei Shen Xuan Yi Weitian Yin Rihua Jiang Chunsheng Xiao 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,5:3

8Measurement of the neutron total cross section of carbon at the Back-n white neutron beam of CSNS显示文摘To verify the performance of the neutron total cross-sectional spectrometer, the neutron total cross section of carbon is initially measured in the energy range of 1 eV to 20 MeV using the time-of-flight method. The measurement is performed at the Back-n white neutron source with a 76-m time-of-flight path using the China Spallation Neutron Source. A multilayer fast fission chamber with 235U and 238U is employed as the neutron detector. The diameter and thickness of the natural graphite sample are 70 mm and 40 mm, respectively. Signal waveforms are collected using a data acquisition system. Off-line data processing was used to obtain the neutron time-of-flight spectra and transmissions. The uncertainty of the counting statistics is generally approximately 3% for each bin in the energy range of 1–20 MeV. It is determined that the results for the neutron total cross section of carbon obtained using ^235U cells are in good agreement with the results obtained using 238U cells within limits of statistical uncertainty. 12Multi-functional stimuli-responsive biomimetic flower assembled from CLCE and MOF-based pedals显示文摘Simulating the structures and behaviors of living organisms are of great significance to develop novel multi-functional intelligent devices. However, the development of biomimetic devices with complex deformable structures and synergistic properties is still on the way. Herein, we propose a simple and effective approach to create the multi-functional stimuli-responsive biomimetic devices with independently pre-programmable colorful visual patterns, complex geometries and morphable modes. The metal organic framework(MOF)-based composite film acts as a rigidity actuation substrate to support and mechanically guide the spatial configuration of the soft chiral nematic liquid crystal elastomer(CLCE) sheet. We can directly program the structural color of the CLCE sheet by adjusting the thickness distribution without tedious chemical modification. By using this coordination strategy, we fabricate an artificial flower, which exhibits a synergistic effect of both shape transformation and color change like paeonia ‘Coral Sunset’at different flowering stages, and can even perform different flowering behaviors by bending, twisting and curling petals. The assembled bionic flower is innovatively demonstrated to respond to local stimuli of humidity, heat or ultraviolet irradiation. 14Comparison of survival prediction values of different scoring models for patients undergoing transjugular intrahepatic portal shunt:A multicenter retrospective study显示文摘Aim:The aim of this study is to compare the prognostic values of the Child–Pugh,integrated model for end‐stage liver disease(iMELD),albumin–bilirubin(ALBI),and Freiburg index of postsurvival(FIPS)scores in patients undergoing transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS).Methods:We conducted a multicenter retrospective study including patients who underwent TIPS by collecting data from several hospitals in southwest China between January 2014 and February 2021.We compared the performance of different scoring models for survival prediction in these patients.The performance of each scoring model was assessed via area under the receiver‐operating characteristic(AUROC)curve analysis.Results:The study included 378 TIPS patients(268 men,110 women;median age 52[interquartile range,45–60]years).Age;cirrhosis etiology;ascites severity;albumin levels;international normalized ratio;total bilirubin levels;sodium levels;and Child–Pugh,iMELD,ALBI,and FIPS scores were significant prognostic factors in cirrhotic patients who underwent TIPS.The Child–Pugh,iMELD,ALBI,and FIPS scores were all independent predictors of survival in TIPS patients.Survival analysis showed that all scoring models effectively stratified the prognostic risk of these patients.The Child–Pugh score was the best predictor of postoperative survival,followed by the ALBI and FIPS scores.The iMELD score was the worst predictor.The Child–Pugh,iMELD,ALBI,and FIPS scores predicted the 1‐year postoperative survival,with AUROC values of 0.832,0.677,0.761,and 0.745,respectively,and the 3‐year postoperative survival,with AUROC values of 0.710,0.668,0.721,and 0.658,respectively.The calibration curve showed that the Child–Pugh,ALBI,and FIPS models performed well in predicting 1‐and 3‐year survival,whereas the iMELD model was a poor predictor.Conclusions:The four scoring models can predict survival in cirrhotic patients after TIPS and can effectively stratify prognostic risk.The Child–Pugh score may be more suitable for predicting survival after TIPS in patients with liver cirrhosis.Yuyi Liu Zhiyong Mu Wei Xiong Hong Hu Aimin Liu Xuan An Yuqiang Xu Haohong Yu Jinneng Wang Jun Wang Xiao Xiao Dongfeng Chen Liangzhi Wen 2022Portal Hypertension & Cirrhosis2022,1,2:1
