| 5 | Does diffusion tensor data reflect pathological changes in the spinal cord with chronic injury?显示文摘Magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging has been shown to quantitatively measure the early pathological changes in chronic cervical spondylotic myelopathy.In this study,a novel spongy polyurethane material was implanted in the rat C3–5epidural space to establish a rat model of chronic cervical spondylotic myelopathy.Diffusion tensor data were used to predict pathological changes.Results revealed that the fractional anisotropy value gradually decreased at 4,24,and 72 hours and1 week after injury in rat spinal cord,showing a time-dependent manner.Average diffusion coefficient increased at 72 hours and 1 week after implantation.Hematoxylin-eosin staining and Luxol-fast-blue staining exhibited that the number of neurons in the anterior horn of the spinal cord gray matter and the nerve fiber density of the white matter gradually reduced with prolonged compression time.Neuronal loss was most significant at 1 week after injury.Results verified that the fractional anisotropy value and average diffusion coefficient reflected the degree of pathological change in the site of compression in rat models at various time points after chronic spinal cord compression injury,which potentially has a reference value in the early diagnosis of chronic cervical spondylotic myelopathy. | Erjian Lin Houqing Long Guangsheng Li Wanlong Lei | 2013 | Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,36: | 2 |
| 6 | Study on Flow Characteristics of a Turbulent Boundary Layer and Vortex Structure of High Pressure Guide Vanes in SCO_2 Turbines显示文摘In order to further understand the aerothermodynamic performance and flow loss mechanism of SCO_2 turbines, RANS equations and an SST Turbulence Model were chosen for a numerical study on the secondary flow and vortex structure of cascades using the commercial software CFX. The dimensionless vorticity analysis method was used to study the flow characteristics of the logarithmic layer and viscous sublayer in high pressure guide vane cascades. The new vortex structure and formation mechanism of the vortices were given and analyzed. Simulation results indicated that during the motion of the boundary layer in the cascades, the logarithmic layer and viscous sublayer obtain the different rotational direction vorticity, respectively. The endwall logarithmic layer and pressure side leg of the horseshoe votex gradually develop into the passage vortex, with the endwall viscous sublayer gradually developing into the corner viscous sublayer vortex II and the endwall viscous sublayer vortex I. The endwall viscous sublayer that rolled by the passage vortex is encountered with the upstream-side and radial boundary layer of the vane at the suction separation line, forming the suction separation line vortex beside the passage vortex. | 8 | Morphological characteristics of the striatal neural pathway by biotinylated dextran amine tracing in rats显示文摘Using neural pathway tracing and immunohistochemical technique, the striato-direct pathway (BDA3 kDa injected into the rat lateral globus pallidus) and striato-indirect pathway (BDA3 kDa injected into the substantia nigra pars reticulata) neurons were specifically labeled, and then subjected to double-labeled immunohistochemistry for mu-OPIOID Receptor (specifically-labeled striatal patch compartment), D1, and D2, respectively. The experimental findings showed that there are no statistically significant differences in the soma diameter and the number of primary dendrites between the striato-direct (substantia nigra pars reticularis) and indirect (globus pallidum externum) neurons labeled retrograde by BDA3 kDa. In addition, these two kinds of projection neurons revealed no obvious coexistence. This evidence indicates that as a highly sensitive neural pathway tracer, BDA could yield reliably and exquisitely detailed labeling of target neurons and synaptic structures. The variance of the morphologic structures and the localization of neurons were not statistically significant between the striato-substantia nigra pars reticularis and the globus pallidum externum projection neurons. Mesencephalic and thalamic neurons correlated with striatal neurons in morphology. Especially the latter which make typical excitatory synaptic contacts with striato-direct and -indirect neurons. [Methods]The paraffin section and superfine slice were used to observe the microstructure and ultrastructure of root tip of P. ginseng,respectively.[Results] Microstructure and ultrastructure observation indicated that,the morphology and structure of epidermal cells of P. ginseng were regular,cells had abundant contents,and organelles were easy to observe in control. However,after infected by C. destructans,the cell walls were thicken seven days post inoculation,particles were deposited in epidemic cells and pith,cell walls were broken,and cells began to disintegrate. Furthermore,morphology of cells was abnormal and contents in cells were decreased when infected by C. destructans. The organelles were break up,and difficult to be distinguished. | 10 | Dose escalation guided by^(18)F-FDG PET/CT for esophageal cancer显示文摘Objective:To assess the feasibility of dose escalation guided by ^(18)F-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computer tomography(^(18)F-FDG PET/CT)for esophageal cancer(EC).Methods and materials:Ten random patients treated with definitive chemoradiotherapy and pre-therapeutic ^(18)FFDG PET/CT were included in this study.Retrospectively,a threshold of 50%of SUVmax was used to define the high FDG uptake region of the GTV(GTVPET).Three intensity-modulated radiation therapy(IMRT)plans were generated,delivering three dose levels to three different planning target volumes(PTVs).50.4 Gy delivered to PTV50.4 was defined on computed tomography(CT)as Plan50.4,63 Gy was delivered to PTV63 was defined as GTV plus a uniform margin of 0.5 cm as Plan63,and 70 Gy delivered to PTV70 was defined as GTVPET plus a 0.5 cm margin as Plan70.A dosimetric comparison was performed based on normal tissue complication probability(NTCP)for the lung and heart.Results:Clinically acceptable dose escalation failed for 2 of 10 patients in Plan63 due to heart dose constraints.One patient failed heart dose constraint for Plan70.Two patients failed spinal cord constraint for Plan63.Three patients failed lung dose constraints for both Plan63 and Plan70,two of which were even not suitable for Plan50.4 for the same reason.NTCP modeling for lung showed increased risk for Plan63 and Plan70 compared to Plan50.4.The difference between Plan63 and Plan70 was insignificant.NTCP modeling for heart showed an increased risk from 6.38%of Plan50.4 to 8.88%of Plan70(P=0.009)or 9.79%of Plan63(P=0.007).The risk of heart mortality was significantly higher for Plan63 than Plan70(P=0.047).Conclusions:Selective boosting of sub-volumes based on ^(18)F-FDG PET/CT is feasible way with a modest increase in the risk of cardiac and lung toxicities. | Bingjie Fan Chengqiang Li Fengchun Mu Wenru Qin Linlin Wang Xindong Sun Chunni Wang Bing Zou Shijiang Wang Wanlong Li Man Hu | 2021 | Radiation Medicine and Protection2021,2,2: | 0 |
