| 1 | Surface Modification of Fly Ashes with Carbide Slag and Its Effect on Compressive Strength and Autogenous Shrinkage of Blended Cement Pastes显示文摘Surfaces of grade III fly ashes were modified through mixing with carbide slag and calcining at 850 ℃ for 1 h. Mineralogical compositions and surface morphology of fly ashes before and after modification were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. Effect of surface-modified fly ashes on compressive strength and autogenous shrinkage of blended cement pastes was investigated. Microstructures of cement pastes were examined by backscattered electron (BSE) imaging and mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP). The experimental results showed that β-C2S was formed on the surfaces of fly ashes after modification. Hydration of β-C2S on the surface-modified fly ashes densified interface zone and enhanced bond strength between particles of fly ashes and hydrated clinkers. In addition, surface modification of fly ashes tended to decrease total porosity and 10-50 nm pores of cement pastes. | 6 | Exploring on the optimal preparation conditions of activated carbon produced from solid waste produced from sugar industry and Chinese medicine factory显示文摘The waste biomass produced from sugar industry and Chinese medicine factory such as bagasse,reed root residue,pueraria residue and liquorice residue were selected as the raw material for the preparation of activated carbon with zinc chloride as activator.With the same activation time,the influence of temperature and impregnation ratio on the preparation of activated carbon was investigated and the reasonable preparation conditions of activated carbon were monitored and analyzed.The obtained activated carbon samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy,Brunauer-Emmett-Teller,methylene blue adsorption,thermogravimetric analysis and nitrogen adsorption-desorption.Analysis from the experimental data,bagasse,reed root residue,pueraria residue are suitable for preparing activated carbon.For bagasse,the optimum preparation condition was 700℃ and the impregnation ratio was 1:1,the adsorption capacity of methylene blue reached 246.83 mg/g at the moment.For reed root residue,the optimum preparation condition was 600℃ and the impregnation ratio was 1:2,the adsorption capacity of methylene blue reached 268.07 mg/g at the moment.For Pueraria residue,the optimum preparation condition was 700℃ and the impregnation ratio was 1:2.The adsorption capacity of methylene blue reached 297.33 mg/g at the moment. | Zhen Li Qiang Han ZhiFan Zong Qi Xu KaiWei Wang | 2020 | Waste Disposal and Sustainable Energy2020,2,1: | 3 |

| 8 | Biophysical studies of the interaction between a triazole derivative and bovine serum albumin by multi-spectroscopic and molecular modeling methods显示文摘The interaction between 3-thiol-4-(2,4-dichlorobenzylideneamino)-5-methyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole (CBTZ) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) under physiological conditions was investigated by fluorescence,UV-vis absorption and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy as well as molecular modeling methods. The result of fluorescence experiment indicates the static quenching as a result of the formation of the CBTZ-BSA complex. The binding constants (Ka) at different temperatures were calculated according to the modified Stern-Volmer equation. The enthalpy change (-H) and entropy change (-S) were determined based on the van′t Hoff equation. Both negative-H and-S indicated that van der Waals and hydrogen-bonding forces were the dominant intermolecular forces to stabilize the CBTZ-BSA complex. Site marker competitive replacement experiments demonstrated that binding of CBTZ to BSA primarily took place in sub-domain IIA (Sudlow's site I). The binding distance (r = 7.2 nm) between CBTZ and the tryptophan residue of BSA was estimated according to the theory of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). The conformational studies by circular dichroism (CD) and three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy showed that the presence of CBTZ induced minor changes of the secondary structure of BSA. | 10 | Ultrasensitive detection of endocrine disruptors via superfine plasmonic spectral combs显示文摘The apparent increase in hormone-induced cancers and disorders of the reproductive tract has led to a growing demand for new technologies capable of detecting endocrine disruptors.However,a long-lasting challenge unaddressed is how to achieve ultrahigh sensitive,continuous,and in situ measurement with a portable device for infield and remote environmental monitoring.Here we demonstrate a simple-to-implement plasmonic optical fiber biosensing platform to achieve an improved light–matter interaction and advanced surface chemistry for ultrasensitive detection of endocrine disruptors.Our platform is based on a gold-coated highly tilted fiber Bragg grating that excites high-density narrow cladding mode spectral combs that overlap with the broad absorption of the surface plasmon for high accuracy interrogation,hence enabling the ultrasensitive monitoring of refractive index changes at the fiber surface.Through the use of estrogen receptors as the model,we design an estradiol–streptavidin conjugate with the assistance of molecular dynamics,converting the specific recognition of environmental estrogens(EEs)by estrogen receptor into surface-based affinity bioassay for protein.The ultrasensitive platform with conjugate-induced amplification biosensing approach enables the subsequent detection for EEs down to 1.5×10−3 ng ml−1 estradiol equivalent concentration level,which is one order lower than the defined maximal E2 level in drinking water set by the Japanese government.The capability to detect EEs down to nanogram per liter level is the lowest limit of detection for any estrogen receptor-based detection reported thus far.Its compact size,flexible shape,and remote operation capability open the way for detecting other endocrine disruptors with ultrahigh sensitivity and in various hard-toreach spaces,thereby having the potential to revolutionize environment and health monitoring. | Lanhua Liu Xuejun Zhang Qian Zhu Kaiwei Li Yun Lu Xiaohong Zhou Tuan Guo | 2021 | Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,10: | 2 |
| 11 | Population amount risk assessment of extreme precipitation-induced landslides based on integrated machine learning model and scenario simulation显示文摘In this study,the future landslide population amount risk(LPAR)is assessed based on integrated machine learning models(MLMs)and scenario simulation techniques in Shuicheng County,China.Firstly,multiple MLMs were selected and hyperparameters were optimized,and the generated 11 models were crossintegrated to select the best model to calculate landslide susceptibility;by calculating precipitation for different extreme precipitation recurrence periods and combining the susceptibility results to assess the landslide hazard.Using the town as the basic unit,the exposure and vulnerability of the future landslide population under different Shared Socioeconomic Pathways(SSPs)scenarios in each town were assessed,and then combined with the hazard to estimate the LPAR in 2050.The results showed that the integrated model with the optimized random forest model as the combination strategy had the best comprehensive performance in susceptibility assessment.The distribution of hazard classes is similar to susceptibility,and with an increase in precipitation,the low-hazard area and high-hazard decrease and shift to medium-hazard and very high-hazard classes.The high-risk areas for future landslide populations in Shuicheng County are mainly concentrated in the three southwestern towns with high vulnerability,whereas the northern towns of Baohua and Qinglin are at the lowest risk class.The LPAR increased with the intensity of extreme precipitation.The LPAR differs significantly among the SSPs scenarios,with the lowest in the“fossil-fueled development(SSP5)”scenario and the highest in the“regional rivalry(SSP3)”scenario.In summary,the landslide susceptibility model based on integrated machine learning proposed in this study has a high predictive capability.The results of future LPAR assessment can provide theoretical guidance for relevant departments to cope with future socioeconomic development challenges and make corresponding disaster prevention and mitigation plans to prevent landslide risks from a developmental perspective. | Guangzhi Rong Kaiwei Li Zhijun Tong Xingpeng Liu Jiquan Zhang Yichen Zhang Tiantao Li | 2023 | Geoscience Frontiers2023,14,3: | 2 |

| 15 | Flood risk assessment using the CV-TOPSIS method for the Belt and Road Initiative:an empirical study of Southeast Asia显示文摘Instruction:The countries along the Belt and Road Initiative remain high exposure and vulnerability to climate extremes.Southeast Asia,a significant part of the Belt and Road Initiative,suffers a lot from flood disasters.This study assessed the flood disaster risk from 1990–2015 in all 11 Southeast Asian countries.A model integrating the coefficient of variation approach and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution method was introduced to analyze the flood disaster data.Considering that populations living in areas where elevation is below 5 m and land area where elevation is below 5 m have reached 11.86%and 3.54%(2015),respectively,the two indicators were opted for to propose new metrics for flood disaster risk assessment.Outcomes:Our findings show that the flood disaster risk in Southeast Asia appeared very high during most of the study period.Indonesia had an extremely high flood disaster risk,followed by Vietnam,whereas Laos,Malaysia,Brunei,and Timor Leste had lower flood risks.The model introduced in this paper is quite simple and easy to understand,providing accessible flood risk information for decision makers.Conclusion:The results we obtained have practical implications for land use and investment activities in Southeast Asia. | Yan An Xianchun Tan Baihe Gu Kaiwei Zhu | 2020 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2020,6,1: | 1 |
