| 1 | An implantable microelectrode array for simultaneous L-glutamate and electrophysiological recordings in vivo显示文摘L-glutamate,the most common excitatory neurotransmitter in the mammalian central nervous system(CNS),is associated with a wide range of neurological diseases.Because neurons in CNS communicate with each other both electrically and chemically,dualmode(electric and chemical)analytical techniques with high spatiotemporal resolution are required to better understand glutamate function in vivo.In the present study,a silicon-based implantable microelectrode array(MEA)composed of both platinum electrochemical and electrophysiological microelectrodes was fabricated using micro-electromechanical system.In the MEA probe,the electrophysiological electrodes have a low impedance of 0.018 MΩat 1 kHz,and the electrochemical electrodes show a sensitivity of 56 pAμM^(−1) to glutamate and have a detection limit of 0.5μM.The MEA probe was used to monitor extracellular glutamate levels,spikes and local field potentials(LFPs)in the striatum of anaesthetised rats.To explore the potential of the MEA probe,the rats were administered to KCl via intraperitoneal injection.K+significantly increases extracellular glutamate levels,LFP low-beta range(12–18 Hz)power and spike firing rates with a similar temporal profile,indicating that the MEA probe is capable of detecting dual-mode neuronal signals.It was concluded that the MEA probe can help reveal mechanisms of neural physiology and pathology in vivo. | Wenjing Wei Yilin Song Li Wang Song Zhang Jinping Luo Shengwei Xu Xinxia Cai | 2015 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2015,1,1: | 4 |

| 3 | Valence electron structure and bonding features of RuB2 and OSB2: The empirical electron theory calculations显示文摘The valence electron structure (VES) of RuB2 and OsB2 were calculated by the empirical electron theory (EET) of solids and molecules and compared with the results derived from the first-principles calculations. The distributions of covalent electrons in different bonds indicate that B-B and B-Me have remarkably covalent bonding characters. Lattice electrons cruising around Me-Me layers are found to have great influences on electronic conductivity and high temperature plasticity. The ultra-high values of elastic constant Cn in the two compounds originate from close-packed covalent bonding along the c axis. Uneven bond strengths and distributions of covalent bonds, especially for B-Afe bonds, yield significant anisotropy. Low ratios of lattice electrons to covalent electrons suggest the intrinsic embrittlement in crystals. | 4 | An in situ ATR-FTIR study of mixed collectors BHA/DDA adsorption in ilmenite-titanaugite flotation system显示文摘This paper researched the enhanced flotation separation performance of ilmenite and titanaugite using the mixed collector benzhydroxamic acid/dodecylamine(BHA/DDA).The interface assembly mechanism was mainly investigated through in situ attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared(ATRFTIR)spectroscopy combined with the two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy(2D-COS)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).It has been found that BHA/DDA mixed collectors successfully separate ilmenite from titanaugite at a molar ratio of 8:1.Zeta potential experiments suggested that,in the presence of mixed collector system,the BHA-DDA complex adsorbed on the ilmenite surface via the chemically adsorbed BHA and the electrostatically adsorbed DDA,however,the complex adsorbed on the surface of titanaugite unstably.According to in situ ATR-FTIR combined with 2D-COS and XPS results,the interface assembly mechanism of BHA/DDA is summarized as:the function group of BHA molecules first binds to the metal sites on minerals to form bidentate ligand,then DDA co-adsorbed with BHA on the surface of minerals through hydrogen bonding.DDA may change the adsorption modes of some BHA on the ilmenite surface from four-membered ring to five-membered ring,while the modes on the titanaugite surface is true opposite.Finally,recommended adsorption configurations of the BHA/DDA complex on the two mineral surfaces are proposed. | Liping Luo Houqin Wu Longhua Xu Jinping Meng Jiahui Lu Huan Zhou Xiaomei Huo Lingyun Huang | 2021 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2021,31,4: | 4 |
| 5 | Microscale insights into the influence of grinding media on spodumene micro-flotation using mixed anionic/cationic collectors显示文摘Here,the influence of grinding media with different shapes on the flotation performance of spodumene and its potential mechanism from microscale insights was investigated using a single mineral flotation experiment,X-ray diffraction(XRD)test,scanning electron microscopy combined with energy dispersive spectrometry(SEM-EDS),atomic force microscope(AFM)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The flotation data indicated that under anionic/cationic(sodium oleate(NaOL)/DDA)collectors system,the rod milled spodumene has a higher floatability than ball milled ones.XRD results confirmed that rod medium makes spodumene exposed more{110}and{100}planes,while ball medium makes spodumene exposed more{010}planes.The typical anisotropic surface of spodumene makes the surface of rod milled spodumene possess more Al sites,further confirmed by SEM-EDS and XPS results.Additionally,it was found that the rod milled spodumene presents a larger value of elongation and flatness,which are parameters closely related to bubble adhesion.AFM analysis indicated that rod milled products have a rougher surface,while ball milled products have a smoother surface.Consequently,the rod medium enhanced the adsorption of NaOL/DDA on the spodumene surfaces.This work provides theoretical guidance for optimizing the separation of spodumene from the perspective of grinding. | Liping Luo Longhua Xu Xinzhang Shi Jinping Meng Ruohua Liu | 2022 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,1: | 3 |

| 7 | Rapid detection of Cyfra 21-1 by optical-biosensing based on chemiluminescence immunoassay using bio-functionlized magnetic nanocomposites显示文摘This letter reports a chemiluminescene immunoassay method combined with immunomagnetic separation to rapidly detect Cyfra 21-1, in which bio-functionlized magnetic nanocomposites were used as mobile substrate for capturing and isolating the cyfra 21-1 proteins. After the captured Cyfra 21-1 further reacted with horseradish peroxidase-conjugated anti-Cyfra 21-1 antibody to form a sandwich immunocomplex, the chemiluminescence would be produced as a result of addition of the chemiluminescent substrate. A home-made optical biosensor was designed to detect the chemiluminescence instead of other large instruments. There is a good linear response between the chemiluminescence intensity and the concentration of Cyfra 21-1 in the range from 0.2 to 50 ng/mL. The whole detection process including incubation, washing and detection could be performed within 45 min. | 10 | Dietary fibers with low hydration properties exacerbate diarrhea and impair intestinal health and nutrient digestibility in weaned piglets显示文摘Background:This study aimed to investigate the hydration properties of different-source fibrous materials by com-paring their water-binding capacity(WBC),water swelling capacity(WSC),viscosity,and in vivo effects of selected samples on growth performance,nutrient digestibility,diarrhea,and intestinal health in weaned piglets.Methods:A total of 13 commercially available fibrous materials were first compared in chemical composition and in vitro hydration property.Subsequently,40 weaned piglets were randomized to five experimental dietary groups(8 piglets per group):control diet(a basal diet without dietary fiber,CON),basal diet supplemented with 5%microcrys-talline cellulose(MCC),5%wheat bran(WB),5%Moringa oleifera leaf powder(MOLP),or 5%sugar beet pulp(SBP),fol-lowed by analyzing their growth performance and diarrhea rate in a 28-d experiment.After the feeding experiment,anaesthetized piglets were killed,and their intestinal and colon content or plasma samples were analyzed in nutrient digestibility,intestinal morphology,intestinal barrier,short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs),and bacterial population.Results:In vitro studies showed low hydration properties for WB and MCC,while medium hydration properties for MOLP and SBP.In vivo studies indicated that compared with medium hydration property groups,low hydration prop-erty groups showed(1)exacerbated diarrhea,impaired intestinal health,and reduced apparent fecal digestibility of dry matter,gross energy,acid detergent fiber,and neutral detergent fiber;(2)decreased SCFAs concentration and rela-tive levels of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium,but increased levels of Escherichia coli and Brachyspira hyodysenteriae in colon contents.Additionally,SBP showed optimal performance in reducing diarrhea and increasing SCFAs produc-tion.Correlation analysis revealed a positive correlation of fiber hydration properties with in vitro SCFAs production,and diarrhea index and nutrient digestibility were negatively and positively correlated with SCFAs levels in the colon contents of weaned piglets,respectively.Conclusions:Different-source dietary fibers varied in their hydration properties and impacts on diarrhea,microbial composition and SCFAs production in weaned piglets.WB and MCC could exacerbate diarrhea and impair nutrient digestibility,probably because their low hydration properties were detrimental to gut microbial homeostasis and fermentation.Our findings provide new ideas for rational use of fiber resources in weaned piglets. | Shuangbo Huang Zhijuan Cui Xiangyu Hao Chuanhui Cheng Jianzhao Chen Deyuan Wu Hefeng Luo Jinping Deng Chengquan Tan | 2023 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,2: | 1 |

| 13 | Microelectrode arrays for monitoring neural activity in neural stem cells with modulation by glutamate in vitro显示文摘In this study, a 60-channel microelectrode array(MEA) was fabricated and used to monitor the neural spikes and local field potentials(LFPs) of neurons differentiated from rat neural stem cells in vitro. The neurons were grown on the MEA surface to detect neural signals. Glutamate(Glu) was used to modulate neural activity during experiments. To enhance detection performance, platinum nanoparticles were modified onto the microelectrode site surface. Glutamate stimulated neural spikes and LFPs were recorded using the MEA. The average spike amplitude was approximately 70 μV in the normal state. The spike amplitude increased by 29% from 70 μV to 90 μV with Glu modulation. The firing rate increased by 69% from 4.01 Hz to 6.8 Hz with Glu modulation. The LFP power increased from 326 μW in the normal state to 617 μW with Glu modulation in the 0–10 Hz frequency band. Data analysis shows that neural activity stimulated by Glu modulation was recorded experimentally at high temporal-spatial resolution. | 14 | Genetic Analysis of Multiple Paternity in an Endangered Ovoviviparous Lizard Shinisaurus crocodilurus显示文摘The crocodile lizard(Shinisaurus crocodilurus) is an ovoviviparous lizard belonging to a monotypic family that originated during the end of the quaternary ice age. A rare species in the wild, the crocodile lizard was listed in CITES Appendix II. Knowledge of the reproductive biology and mating system of this species is important for designing conservation strategies and improving genetic variation. To investigate the paternity of the crocodile lizards and to interpret their reproductive behaviour, we collected saliva from females, potential fathers and offspring in a seminatural enclosure experiment and analyzed the paternity of the crocodile lizard using 12 microsatellite genetic loci. The overall observed incidence of multiple paternity was 42.9%(6 of 14 clutches) and Fis was 0.089 ± 0.056. | 18 | AKG/OXGR1 promotes skeletal muscle blood flow and metabolism by relaxing vascular smooth muscle显示文摘In response to contraction during exercise,skeletal muscle growth and metabolism are dynamically regulated by nerve action,blood flow,and metabolic feedback.α-Ketoglutarate(AKG),a bioactive intermediate in the tricarboxylic acid cycle released during exercise,has been shown to promote skeletal muscle hypertrophy.However,the underlying mechanism of AKG in regulating skeletal muscle development and metabolism is still less known.2-Oxoglutarate receptor 1(OXGR1),the endogenous AKG receptor,is found to be distributed in the vascular smooth muscle(VSM)of skeletal muscles.OXGR1 knockout results in skeletal muscle atrophy,accompanied by decreased expression of myosin heavy chain I(MyHC I),capillary density,and endurance exercise capacity.Furthermore,the study found that dietary AKG supplementation increased mice endurance exercise distance,MyHC I/MyHC IIb ratio,arteriole,and capillary densities in skeletal muscle.Meanwhile,acute AKG administration gradually increased the blood flow in the lower limbs.Further,by using OXGR1 global knockout and OXGR1 VSM-specific(MYH11-Cre×OXGR1-FloxP)knockdown models,we found that OXGR1 in VSM is essential for AKG-induced improvement of skeletal muscle performances.According to the in vitro study,AKG expanded the cell area in VSM with a decreased intracellular pH by OXGR1.Our results demonstrated a novel role of AKG/OXGR1 in VSM of skeletal muscle to regulate blood flow and then enhance slow muscle fiber conversion and capillarization.These findings provide a theoretical basis for the AKG/OXGR1 signaling pathway to maintain human muscle function and improve meat production and livestock and poultry meat quality. | Jinping Yang Guli Xu Yiming Xu Pei Luo Yexian Yuan Lin Yao Jingjing Zhou Yunlong Zhu Ishwari Gyawali Chang Xu Jinlong Feng Zewei Ma Yuxian Zeng Songbo Wang Ping Gao Canjun Zhu Qingyan Jiang Gang Shu | 2022 | Life Metabolism2022,1,3: | 0 |
