| 2 | Fault Analysis on a New Block Cipher DBlock with at Most Two Fault Injections显示文摘DBlock is a new family of block ciphers proposed by Wu et al. in Science China in 2015, which consists of three variants specified as DBlock-128/192/256.DBlock-n employs a 20-round Feistel-type structure with n-bit block size and n-bit key size. We propose the first fault analysis on DBlock and show that no more than 2 pairs of correct/faulty ciphertexts are needed to retrieve the master key. In the attack, a byte-oriented fault is injected in round 16, and three properties including differential distribution of the Sbox, bijection nature of the linear function and Feistel-type key scheduling are fully utilized to distinguish between the correct and wrong keys. A fault position guessing strategy based on known intermediates is adopted, which efficiently makes the known-fault attack apply to the random fault model. The experimental results show that, with a pair of ciphertexts, 11.820-bit exhaustive search is needed to derive the whole 128-bit key on average. | 4 | Macrophage polarization is involved in liver fibrosis induced byβ_(1)-adrenoceptor autoantibody显示文摘Accumulating evidence suggests that liver injury can be induced by the over-expression ofβ_(1)-adrenergic receptors(β_(1)-ARs).High titers of autoantibodies specific toβ_(1)-adrenergic receptors(β_(1)-AA)are detected in the sera of heart failure patients,potentially playing agonist-like roles.However,the role ofβ_(1)-AA in liver function has not been characterized.In this study,we collect the sera of primary biliary cholangitis(PBC)patients,a condition which easily develops into liver fibrosis,and analyze the relationship between PBC andβ_(1)-AA.A passive immunization model is established to assess the effect ofβ_(1)-AA on the liver.Subsequently,the effect ofβ_(1)-AA on macrophages is investigated in vitro.Results show that PBC patients have a high titer and ratio ofβ_(1)-AA,compared to controls.Liver injury and fibrosis are induced byβ_(1)-AA.In vitro experiments with ROS probe demonstrate thatβ_(1)-AA induces macrophages to produce ROS and secrete TNFα.These effects can be partially reversed by metoprolol,a blocker forβ_(1)-AR.Results from the transwell and phagocytosis assays show thatβ_(1)-AA promotes macrophage migration and phagocytosis.FCM tests suggest thatβ_(1)-AA induces the alteration of M1 rather than M2 markers in macrophages.Finally,the Annexin V/PI assay indicates that macrophage culture supernatants stimulated byβ_(1)-AA cause hepatocyte apoptosis.Overall,these results suggest thatβ_(1)-AA is involved in PBC.Theβ_(1)-AA-induced activation,phagocytosis and phenotypic modification of macrophages may play an important role in the development of hepatic fibrosis and injury. | Ye Wu Xiongxiong Fan Haicun Yu Jingyi Liu Yanru Duan Suli Zhang Li Yan Yunhui Du Huirong Liu | 2022 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,8: | 1 |

| 7 | Enhanced chemical trapping and catalytic conversion of polysulfides by diatomite/MXene hybrid interlayer for stable Li-S batteries显示文摘Lithium-Sulfur (Li-S) batteries with high theoretical energy density are promising energy storage systems in the next decades, while the lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) shuttling caused by the sluggish sulfur redox reaction severely lowers the practical performance. The use of interlayer between the cathode and separator has been widely investigated to physically or chemically block the LiPSs, while the introduction of catalytic materials is a more effective strategy to accelerate the conversion of LiPSs. MXene with rich surface chemistry has shown its potential for facilitating the catalytic conversion, however, the aggregation of MXene sheets usually leads to the loss of the catalytic active sites. Herein, we report a diatomite/MXene (DE/MX) hybrid material as the bifunctional interlayer for improving the adsorption/conversion of LiPSs in Li-S batteries. The diatomite with porous structure and rich silica-hydroxyl functional groups could trap LiPSs effectively, while prevent the aggregation of MXene. The DE/MX based interlayer showed bifunctions of enhancing the chemical adsorption and promoting the conversion of LiPSs. The Li-S batteries with the DE/MX interlayer delivered an improved cycling stability with a low capacity decay of 0.059% per cycle over 1000 cycles at 1.0 C. Moreover, stable 200 cycles can be realized with a high sulfur loading electrode up to 6.0 mg cm^(−2). | 9 | Identification of A-to-I RNA editing profiles and their clinical relevance in lung adenocarcinoma显示文摘Adenosine-to-inosine(A-to-I)RNA editing is a widespread posttranscriptional modification that has been shown to play an important role in tumorigenesis.Here,we evaluated a total of 19,316 RNA editing sites in the tissues of 80 lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD)patients from our Nanjing Lung Cancer Cohort(NJLCC)and 486 LUAD patients from the TCGA database.The global RNA editing level was significantly increased in tumor tissues and was highly heterogeneous across patients.The high RNA editing level in tumors was attributed to both RNA(ADAR1 expression)and DNA alterations(mutation load).Consensus clustering on RNA editing sites revealed a new molecular subtype(EC3)that was associated with the poorest prognosis of LUAD patients.Importantly,the new classification was independent of classic molecular subtypes based on gene expression or DNA methylation.We further proposed a simplified model including eight RNA editing sites to accurately distinguish the EC3 subtype in our patients.The model was further validated in the TCGA dataset and had an area under the curve(AUC)of the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.93(95%CI:0.91-0.95).In addition,we found that LUAD cell lines with the EC3 subtype were sensitive to four chemotherapy drugs.These findings highlighted the importance of RNA editing events in the tumorigenesis of LUAD and provided insight into the application of RNA editing in the molecular subtyping and clinical treatment of cancer. | Cheng Wang Mingtao Huang Congcong Chen Yuancheng Li Na Qin Zijian Ma Jingyi Fan Linnan Gong Hui Zeng Liu Yang Xianfeng Xu Jun Zhou Juncheng Dai Guangfu Jin Zhibin Hu Hongxia Ma Fengwei Tan Hongbing Shen | 2022 | Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,1: | 1 |

| 14 | Antinociceptive effects of novel epibatidine analogs through activation of α4β2 nicotinic receptors显示文摘The study of α4β2 nicotinic receptors has provided new indications in the treatment of pain. Efforts have been made to explore new α4β2 nicotinic receptor agonists, including TC-2559, as antinociceptive drugs. In this study, we discovered a set of novel epibatidine analogs with strong binding affinities to the α4β2 nicotinic receptors. Among these compounds, C-159, C-163, and C-9515 attenuated formalin-induced nociceptive responses in mice; C-9515 caused the most potent analgesic effect, which was blocked by mecamylamine, a non-selective nicotinic receptor antagonist. Furthermore, C-9515 potently inhibited chronic constriction injury(CCI)-induced neuropathic pain in rats, which was sensitive to DHβE, a selective α4β2 subtype antagonist,indicating that its analgesic effect was mediated by the activation of the α4β2 nicotinic receptors. | 17 | SH-2-containing protein tyro-sine phosphatase 1 is required for IL-4-induced IL-4R expression in spleen cells显示文摘To investigate the role of SH-2-containing pro- tein tyrosine phosphatase 1, SHP-1, in IL-4-induced IL-4 receptor (IL-4R) expression, we examined IL-4 receptor α-chain (IL-4Rα) mRNA expression in Na3VO4-treated wild type (WT) spleen cells and measured IL-4R mRNA in IL-4-stimulated spleen cells of viable motheaten mice (mev/mev). It is found that IL-4-induced IL-4R mRNA ex- pression was impaired in Na3VO4-treated WT spleen cells and IL-4-stimulated mev/mev spleen cells. Here we show that the impaired IL-4-induced IL-4Rα mRNA expression was due to reduced expression of IL-4R that led to impaired STAT6 signaling. We further demonstrate that reduction of IL-4Rα protein expression in mev/mev spleen cells was due to alteration in cell compositions. In mev/mev spleen, the per- centages of CD4+, CD8+, and CD19+ cells expressing rela- tively high levels of IL-4R were reduced dramatically while the percentages of Mac-1+ and Gr-1+ cells with relative low levels of IL-4R increased greatly. Despite the profound effect of reduced expression of IL-4R protein, the IL-4Rα mRNA expression was comparable in spleen cells of littermate con- trol mice (+/?) and mev/mev mice and no differences were found in B cells, T cells, and macrophages, suggesting cell type-specific downregulation of IL-4R expression in macro- phages through a posttranscriptional mechanism. | 18 | Atrial of arbidol hydrochloride in adults with COVID-19显示文摘Background: To date, there is no effective medicine to treat coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and the antiviral efficacy of arbidol in the treatment for COVID-19 remained equivocal and controversial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of arbidol tablets in the treatment of COVID-19.Methods: This was a prospective, open-label, controlled and multicenter investigator-initiated trial involving adult patients with confirmed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. Patients were stratified 1:2 to either standard-of-care (SOC) or SOC plus arbidol tablets (oral administration of 200 mg per time, three times a day for 14 days). The primary endpoint was negative conversion of SARS-CoV-2 within the first week. The rates and 95% confidential intervals were calculated for each variable.Results: A total of 99 patients with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection were enrolled;66 were assigned to the SOC plus arbidol tablets group, and 33 to the SOC group. The negative conversion rate of SARS-CoV-2 within the first week in patients receiving arbidol tablets was significantly higher than that of the SOC group (70.3% [45/64]vs. 42.4% [14/33];difference of conversion rate 27.9%;95% confidence interval [CI], 7.7%-48.1%;P=0.008). Compared to those in the SOC group, patients receiving arbidol tablets had a shorter duration of clinical recovery (median 7.0 daysvs. 12.0 days;hazard ratio [HR]: 1.877, 95% CI: 1.151-3.060,P=0.006), symptom of fever (median 3.0 daysvs. 12.0 days;HR: 18.990, 95% CI: 5.350-67.410,P<0.001), as well as hospitalization (median 12.5 daysvs. 20.0 days;P<0.001). Moreover, the addition of arbidol tablets to SOC led to more rapid normalization of declined blood lymphocytes (median 10.0 daysvs. 14.5 days;P > 0.05). The most common adverse event in the arbidol tablets group was the elevation of transaminase (5/200, 2.5%), and no one withdrew from the study due to adverse events or disease progression.Conclusions: SOC plus arbidol tablets significantly increase the negative conversion rate of SARS-CoV-2 within the first week and accelerate the recovery of COVID-19 patients. | 19 | Ultrastructure of Diophrys appendiculata and new systematic consideration of the euplotid family Uronychiidae(Protista,Ciliophora)显示文摘The ultrastructure of ciliates carries important cytological,taxonomical,and evolutionary signals for these single-celled eukaryotic organisms.However,little ultrastructural data have been accumulated for most ciliate groups with systematic problems.In the present work,a well-known marine uronychiid,Diophrys appendiculata,was investigated using electron microscopy and a comparison with,and a discussion considering,phylogenetic analyses were made.The new findings primarily show that:(i)this species lacks the typical alveolar plate,bears cortical ampule-like extrusomes,and has microtubular triads in the dorsal pellicle,and thus exhibits some ultrastructural features in common with most of its previously studied congeners;(ii)each adoral membranelle before the level of frontal cirrus II/2 contains three rows of kinetosomes and each membranelle after the level of frontal cirrus II/2 contains four rows,which might be related with morphogenesis and could be considered as a distinctive character of Diophrys;(iii)some structural details of the buccal field,such as the extra-pellicular fibrils,pellicle,pharyngeal disks and microtubular sheet,were documented.In addition,based on the ultrastructural comparison of representatives,we discuss the differentiation between the subfamilies Diophryinae and Uronychiinae.A hypothetical systematic relationship of members in the order Euplotida based on a wide range of data is also provided. | Jingyi Dong Yujie Liu Jiyang Ma Honggang Ma Thorsten Stoeck Xinpeng Fan | 2022 | Marine Life Science & Technology2022,4,4: | 0 |
| 20 | Physicochemical and structural properties of starches from non-traditional sources in China显示文摘In this study,we isolated starches from non-traditional sources,including quinoa,lentil,arrowhead,gorgon fruit,sorghum,chickpea,proso millet,and purple potato and investigated their morphology,physicochemical,and functional properties.Significant differences in starch particle morphology,swelling power,solubility,syneresis,crystalline pattern,and pasting viscosity were observed among the starches from these nontraditional sources.Further,all these isolated starches had unique properties because of their characteristic distinct granules when seen under scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The amylose content of the isolated starches shown significant difference(P<0.05),and the values ranged between 11.46%and 37.61%.Results demonstrated that the isolated starches contained between 79.82%to 86.56%starch,indicating that the isolated starches had high purity.X-ray diffraction(XRD)patterns of starches isolated from sorghum,proso millet,quinoa,purple potato,and gorgon fruit presented A-type diffraction pattern;while lentil seeds,arrowhead,and chickpea starches presented C-type diffraction pattern.Overall,these results will promote the development of products based on starch isolated from non-traditional starches. | Jingyi Yang Chagam Koteswara Reddy Zhili Fan Baojun Xu | 2023 | Food Science and Human Wellness2023,12,2: | 0 |
