| 1 | 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. Based on the globally recent development and the evidence-based data in China, 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was jointly prepared by the Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Pediatric Society, Chinese Medical Association(CMA)/Committee on Pediatric Syncope, Pediatricians Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Committee on Pediatric Cardiology, Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Pediatric Cardiology Society, Beijing Pediatric Society, Beijing Medical Association(BMA). | 2 | Barometric altimetry system as virtual constellation applied in CAPS显示文摘This work describes the barometric altimetry as virtual constellation applied to the Chinese Area Positioning System (CAPS), which uses the transponders of communication satellites to transfer navigation messages to users. Barometric altimetry depends on the relationship of air pressure varying with altitude in the Earth’s atmosphere. Once the air pressure at a location is measured the site altitude can be found. This method is able to enhance and improve the availability of three-dimensional positioning. The difficulty is that the relation between barometric pressure and altitude is variable in different areas and under various weather conditions. Hence, in order to obtain higher accuracy, we need to acquire the real-time air pressure corresponding to an altimetric region’s reference height. On the other hand, the altimetry method will be applied to satellite navigation system, but the greatest difficulty lies in how to get the real-time air pressure value at the reference height in the broad areas overlaid by satellite navigation. We propose an innovational method to solve this problem. It is to collect the real-time air pressures and temperatures of the 1860 known-altitude weather observatories over China and around via satellite communication and to carry out time extrapolation forecast uniformly. To reduce data quantity, we first partition the data and encode them and then broadcast these information via navigation message to CAPS users’ receivers. Upon the interpolations being done in receivers, the reference air pressure and temperature at the receiver’s nearby place is derived. Lastly, combing with the receiver-observed real air pressure and temperature, the site’s altitude can be determined. The work is presented in the following aspects: the calculation principle, formulae, data collection, encoding, prediction, interpolation method, navigation message transmission together with errors causes and analyses. | 3 | Characterization of drug responses of mini patient-derived xenografts in mice for predicting cancer patient clinical therapeutic response显示文摘Background:Patient-derived organoids and xenografts(PDXs)have emerged as powerful models in functional diag-nostics with high predictive power for anticancer drug response.However,limitations such as engraftment failure and time-consuming for establishing and expanding PDX models followed by testing drug efficacy,and inability to subject to systemic drug administration for ex vivo organoid culture hinder realistic and fast decision-making in selecting the right therapeutics in the clinic.The present study aimed to develop an advanced PDX model,namely MiniPDX,for rapidly testing drug efficacy to strengthen its value in personalized cancer treatment.Methods:We developed a rapid in vivo drug sensitivity assay,OncoVee®MiniPDX,for screening clinically relevant regimens for cancer.In this model,patient-derived tumor cells were arrayed within hollow fiber capsules,implanted subcutaneously into mice and cultured for 7 days.The cellular activity morphology and pharmacokinetics were systematically evaluated.MiniPDX performance(sensitivity,specificity,positive and negative predictive values)was examined using PDX as the reference.Drug responses were examined by tumor cell growth inhibition rate and tumor growth inhibition rate in PDX models and MiniPDX assays respectively.The results from MiniPDX were also used to evaluate its predictive power for clinical outcomes.Results:Morphological and histopathological features of tumor cells within the MiniPDX capsules matched those both in PDX models and in original tumors.Drug responses in the PDX tumor graft assays correlated well with those in the corresponding MiniPDX assays using 26 PDX models generated from patients,including 14 gastric cancer,10 lung cancer and 2 pancreatic cancer.The positive predictive value of MiniPDX was 92%,and the negative predictive value was 81%with a sensitivity of 80%and a specificity of 93%.Through expanding to clinical tumor samples,Min-iPDX assay showed potential of wide clinical application.Conclusions:Fast in vivo MiniPDX assay based on capsule implantation was developed-to assess drug responses of both PDX tumor grafts and clinical cancer specimens.The high correlation between drug responses of paired MiniPDX and PDX tumor graft assay,as well as translational data suggest that MiniPDX assay is an advanced tool for personalized cancer treatment. | Feifei Zhang Wenjie Wang Yuan Long Hui Liu Jijun Cheng Lin Guo Rongyu Li Chao Meng Shan Yu Qingchuan Zhao Shun Lu Lili Wang Haitao Wang Danyi Wen | 2018 | Cancer Communications2018,38,1: | 20 |
| 4 | Real-world fuel efficiency and exhaust emissions of light-duty diesel vehicles and their correlation with road conditions显示文摘The real-world fuel efficiency and exhaust emission profiles of CO, HC and NOx for light-duty diesel vehicles were investigated. Using a portable emissions measurement system, 16 diesel taxies were tested on different roads in Macao and the data were normalized with the vehicle specific power bin method. The 11 Toyota Corolla diesel taxies have very good fuel economy of (5.9 ± 0.6) L/100 km, while other five diesel taxies showed relatively high values at (8.5 ± 1.7) L/100 km due to the variation in transmission systems and emission control strategies. Compared to similar Corolla gasoline models, the diesel cars confirmed an advantage of ca. 20% higher fuel efficiency. HC and CO emissions of all the 16 taxies are quite low, with the average at (0.05 ± 0.02) g/km and (0.38 ± 0.15) g/km, respectively. The average NOx emission factor of the 11 Corolla taxies is (0.56 ± 0.17) g/km, about three times higher than their gasoline counterparts. Two of the three Hyundai Sonata taxies, configured with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) + diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) emission control strategies, indicated significantly higher NO2 emissions and NO2/NOx ratios than other diesel taxies and consequently trigger a concern of possibly adverse impacts on ozone pollution in urban areas with this technology combination. A clear and similar pattern for fuel consumption and for each of the three gaseous pollutant emissions with various road conditions was identified. | 6 | Hybrids perfluorosulfonic acid ionomer and silicon oxide membrane for application in ion-exchange polymer-metal composite actuators显示文摘This paper reports a new technique to fabricate an ion-exchange polymer-metal composite (IPMC) actuator. This technique is based on a hybrid organic-inorganic composite membrane. In the fabrication course, silica oxide particles, prepared from hydrolysis of tetraethyl orthosilicate in situ with sol-gel reaction, co-crystallize with perfluorosulfonate acid (PFSA) ionomer. Attenuated total reflectance fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) analyses demonstrate that a highly water-saving hybrid membrane is formed. Measurements of mechanical properties reveal that elastic modulus and hardness of the hybrid membrane are about 2 times compared to a commercial PFSA membrane. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results show that the hybrid membrane has a high porosity. Inside the membrane pores, there exists a great quantity of micro scale channels in the range of 100―300 nm. After fabrication of IPMC actuator, an electric current sensor, a force sensor, and a high speed camera are assembled and used to evaluate IPMC performance. | 9 | miRNA-711-SP1-collagen-I pathway is involved in the anti-fibrotic effect of pioglitazone in myocardial infarction显示文摘Although microRNAs(miRNAs) have been intensively studied in cardiac fibrosis,their roles in drug-mediated anti-fibrotic therapy are still unknown.Previously,Pioglitazone attenuated cardiac fibrosis and increased miR-711 experimentally.We aimed to explore the role and mechanism of miR-711 in pioglitazone-treated myocardial infarction in rats.Our results showed that pioglitazone significantly reduced collagen-I levels and increased miR-711 expression in myocardial infarction heart.Pioglitazone increased the expression of miR-711 in cardiac fibroblasts,and overexpression of miR-711 suppressed collagen-I levels in angiotensin II(Ang II)-treated or untreated cells.Transfection with antagomir-711 correspondingly abolished the pioglitazone-induced reduction in collagen-I levels.Bioinformatics analysis identified SP1,which directly promotes collagen-I synthesis,as the putative target of miR-711.This was confirmed by luciferase assay and western blot analysis.Additionally,increased SP1 expression was attenuated by pioglitazone in myocardial infarction heart.Furthermore,transfection of antagomir-711 attenuated pioglitazone-reduced SP1 expression in cardiac fibroblasts with or without Ang II stimulation.We conclude that pioglitazone up-regulated miR-711 to reduce collagen-I levels in rats with myocardial infarction.The miR-711-SP1-collagen-I pathway may be involved in the anti-fibrotic effects of pioglitazone.Our findings may provide new strategies for miRNA-based anti-fibrotic drug research. | ZHAO Na YU HaiYi YU HaiTao SUN Min ZHANG YouYi XU Ming GAO Wei | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,5: | 9 |

| 13 | Function of note strings in Japanese Tit alarm calls to the Common Cuckoo:a playback experiment显示文摘Background: Birds produce alarm calls to convey information about threats. Some Passerine alarm calls consist of several note strings, but few studies have examined their function. Previous studies have shown that Japanese Tits(Parus minor) can alter the calling rate and number and combination of notes in response to predators. We previously found the combinations of note types in Japanese Tit alarm calls to be significantly different in response to the Sparrowhawk(Accipiter nisus) and Common Cuckoo(Cuculus canorus).Methods: Through playback experiments, we tested whether the note strings in Japanese Tit alarm calls to the Common Cuckoo have different functions in conveying information. The note strings of selected alarm calls were divided into the categories of C and D, and different calls were then constructed separately based on the two note string categories. Original alarm calls(C–D), C calls and D calls were played back to male Japanese Tits during the incubation period.Results: Male Japanese Tits had a significantly stronger response to C calls than to C–D calls, and they showed a significantly stronger response to both C and C–D calls than to D calls, suggesting that Japanese Tits discriminated between the C and D calls.Conclusions: Our study demonstrated that the C-and D-category note strings of Japanese Tit alarm calls to the Common Cuckoo have different functions, which supports the previous finding that different note strings in an alarm call can provide different information to receivers. | 14 | Analysis on the Performance of the SLIP Runner with Nonlinear Spring Leg显示文摘The spring-loaded inverted pendulum(SLIP) has been widely studied in both animals and robots.Generally,the majority of the relevant theoretical studies deal with elastic leg,the linear leg length-force relationship of which is obviously conflict with the biological observations.A planar spring-mass model with a nonlinear spring leg is presented to explore the intrinsic mechanism of legged locomotion with elastic component.The leg model is formulated via decoupling the stiffness coefficient and exponent of the leg compression in order that the unified stiffness can be scaled as convex,concave as well as linear profile.The apex return map of the SLIP runner is established to investigate dynamical behavior of the fixed point.The basin of attraction and Floquet Multiplier are introduced to evaluate the self-stability and initial state sensitivity of the SLIP model with different stiffness profiles.The numerical results show that larger stiffness exponent can increase top speed of stable running and also can enlarge the size of attraction domain of the fixed point.In addition,the parameter variation is conducted to detect the effect of parameter dependency,and demonstrates that on the fixed energy level and stiffness profile,the faster running speed with larger convergence rate of the stable fixed point under small local perturbation can be achieved via decreasing the angle of attack and increasing the stiffness coefficient.The perturbation recovery test is implemented to judge the ability of the model resisting large external disturbance.The result shows that the convex stiffness performs best in enhancing the robustness of SLIP runner negotiating irregular terrain.This research sheds light on the running performance of the SLIP runner with nonlinear leg spring from a theoretical perspective,and also guides the design and control of the bio-inspired legged robot. | YU Haitao LI Mantian CAI Hegao | 2013 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2013,26,5: | 7 |
| 15 | Mode-based equivalent multi-degree-of-freedom system for one-dimensional viscoelastic response analysis of layered soil deposit显示文摘Discrete models such as the lumped parameter model and the finite element model are widely used in the solution of soil amplification of earthquakes. However, neither of the models will accurately estimate the natural frequencies of soil deposit, nor simulate a damping of frequency independence. This research develops a new discrete model for onedimensional viscoelastic response analysis of layered soil deposit based on the mode equivalence method. The new discrete model is a one-dimensional equivalent multi-degree-of-freedom(MDOF) system characterized by a series of concentrated masses, springs and dashpots with a special configuration. The dynamic response of the equivalent MDOF system is analytically derived and the physical parameters are formulated in terms of modal properties. The equivalent MDOF system is verified through a comparison of amplification functions with the available theoretical solutions. The appropriate number of degrees of freedom(DOFs) in the equivalent MDOF system is estimated. A comparative study of the equivalent MDOF system with the existing discrete models is performed. | 16 | Synergistic effect of N- and F-codoping on the structure and photocatalytic performance of TiO_2显示文摘Three types of Ti O2 nanostructures were synthesized via a facile hydrolysis method at195 °C. Effects of the preparation method and doping with N and F on the crystal structure and photocatalytic performance of Ti O2 were investigated. The nanomaterials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller porosimetry, ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and fluorescent emission spectra. Their photo-catalytic activity was examined by the photodegradation of methylene blue in aqueous solution under both ultra-violet and visible light irradiation. The results show that nitrogen and fluorine co-doped anatase Ti O2 had the characteristics of a smaller crystalline size, broader light absorption spectrum and lower charge recombination than pure Ti O2. Most importantly, more efficient photocatalytic activity under both ultra-violet and visible light was observed. | 18 | Precipitation behaviors of X70 acicular ferrite pipeline steel显示文摘The morphology, structure, and chemical composition of precipitates in the final microstructure of Nb-V-Ti microalloyed X70 acicular ferrite pipeline steel were investigated using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Precipitates observed by TEM can be classified into two groups. The large precipitates are complex compounds that comprise square-shaped TiN precipitate as core with fine Nb-containing precipitate nucleated on pre-existing TiN precipitate as caps on one or more faces at high temperature. | 20 | Silicon-on-insulator-based microwave photonic filter with widely adjustable bandwidth显示文摘We demonstrate a silicon-based microwave photonic filter(MPF) with flattop passband and adjustable bandwidth. The proposed MPF is realized by using a 10 th-order microring resonator(MRR) and a photodetector,both of which are integrated on a photonic chip. The full width at half-maximum(FWHM) bandwidth of the optical filter achieved at the drop port of the 10 th-order MRR is 21.6 GHz. The ripple of the passband is less than 0.3 dB, while the rejection ratio is 32 dB. By adjusting the deviation of the optical carrier wavelength from the center wavelength of the optical bandpass filter, the bandwidth of the MPF can be greatly changed.
