| 1 | Endothelial progenitor cells in peripheral blood may serve as a biological marker to predict severe acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM To investigate the significance of endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs) in predicting severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).METHODS We recruited 71 patients with acute pancreatitis(AP) and excluded 11 of them; finally, cases of mild acute pancreatitis(MAP)(n = 30) and SAP(n = 30), and healthy volunteers(n = 20) were internalized to investigate levels of EPCs, C-reactive protein(CRP), tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α), fibrinogen(FIB)and white blood cells(WBC) in peripheral blood. RESULTS The levels of TNF-α, WBC, FIB and CRP were higher both in SAP and MAP cases than in healthy volunteers(P < 0.05, all). Interestingly, the level of EPCs was higher in SAP than MAP(1.63% ± 1.47% vs 6.61% ± 4.28%, P < 0.01), but there was no significant difference between the MAP cases and healthy volunteers(1.63% ± 1.47% vs 0.55% ± 0.54%, P > 0.05). Receiver operating characteristics curve(ROC) showed that EPCs, TNF-α, CRP and FIB were significantly associated with SAP, especially EPCs and CRP were optimal predictive markers of SAP. When the cut-off point for EPCs and CRP were 2.26% and 5.94 mg/d L, the sensitivities were 90.0% and 73.3%, and the specificities were 83.3% and 96.7%. Although, CRP had the highest specificity, and EPCs had the highest sensitivity and highest area under the curve value(0.93). | 2 | An Ultrasonic Backscatter Instrument for Cancellous Bone Evaluation in Neonates显示文摘Ultrasonic backscatter technique has shown promise as a noninvasive cancellous bone assessment tool. A novel ultrasonic backscatter bone diagnostic(UBBD) instrument and an in vivo application for neonatal bone evaluation are introduced in this study. The UBBD provides several advantages, including noninvasiveness, nonionizing radiation, portability, and simplicity. In this study, the backscatter signal could be measured within 5 s using the UBBD. Ultrasonic backscatter measurements were performed on 467 neonates(268 males and 199 females) at the left calcaneus. The backscatter signal was measured at a central frequency of 3.5 MHz. The delay(T_1) and duration(T_2) of the backscatter signal of interest(SOI) were varied, and the apparent integrated backscatter(AIB), frequency slope of apparent backscatter(FSAB), zero frequency intercept of apparent backscatter(FIAB), and spectral centroid shift(SCS) were calculated. The results showed that the SOI selection had a direct influence on cancellous bone evaluation. The AIB and FIAB were positively correlated with the gestational age(|R| up to 0.45, P < 0.001) when T_1 was short(< 8 μs), while negative correlations(|R| up to 0.56, P < 0.001) were commonly observed for T_1 > 10 μs. Moderate positive correlations(|R| up to 0.45, P < 0.001) were observed for FSAB and SCS with gestational age when T_1 was long(> 10 μs). The T_2 mainly introduced fluctuations in the observed correlation coefflcients. The moderate correlations observed with UBBD demonstrate the feasibility of using the backscatter signal to evaluate neonatal bone status. | 3 | The spectrum entropy estimation method for ultrasonic backscattering signal in cancellous bones显示文摘In the application of cancellous bone ultrasound diagnosis based on backscattering method,it is of great importance to estimate fast and accurately whether the valid backscattering signal exists in the received signal.We propose a fast estimation method based on spectrum entropy method.With 984 records of adult calcaneus clinical data,we estimate the validity of the backscatter signal using this method.The results of the proposed method and the results of experience-base judgement were compared and analyzed.And two key parameters,the signal range length and the segment number of the spectrum entropy,were analyzed.The results show when the signal range length is 13 us and the segment number is 15-20,this method can get the best result(accuracy>95%,sensitivity>99%,specificity>87%),while taking little calculation time(1.5 ms).Therefore,this spectrum entropy method can satisfy the accuracy and real-time requirements in the ultrasonic estimation for cancellous bone. | XU Feng XU Yiwen LIU Chengcheng TA De'an GUO Jianzhong | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Acoustics2017,36,3: | 2 |

| 9 | Spatial patterns of Picea crassifolia driven by environmental heterogeneity and intraspecifi c interactions显示文摘Research on the spatial patterns of tree populations is critical for understanding the structure and dynamic processes of forests.However,little is known about how the underlying drivers shape these patterns and species interactions in forest systems.In this study,spatial point pattern analysis investigated the combined eff ects of intraspecifi c interactions and environmental heterogeneity on the spatial structure and internal maintenance mechanisms of Picea crassifolia in the Qilian Mountain National Nature Reserve,China.Data were obtained from a 10.2-ha dynamic monitoring plot(DMP)and sixteen 0.04-ha elevation gradient plots(EGPs).Under complete spatial randomness,both mature trees and saplings in the DMP demonstratedlarge-scale aggregation with negative correlations.In EGPs,saplings were clustered in small mesoscales,mature trees were randomly distributed,and the interactions of saplingstrees at all elevations were not correlated.By eliminating the interference of environmental heterogeneity through the inhomogeneous Poisson process,saplings in the DMP and EGPs were clustered in small scales and trees randomly distributed.Intraspecifi c associations were negatively correlated,in the DMP and at low elevations,and no correlations in high elevations of EGPs.In the vertical scale,saplings showed a small-scale aggregation pattern with increase in elevation,and the aggregation degree fi rst decreased and then increased.The interactions of saplings-trees and saplings–saplings showed inhibitions at small scales,with the degree of inhibition gradually decreasing.Spatial patterns and associations of adults–adults did not change signifi-cantly.The results revealed that intraspecifi c interactions and environmental heterogeneity regulated the spatial patterns of P.crassifolia at small and large scales,respectively.Environmental heterogeneity might be the most decisive factor aff ecting the spatial patterns of saplings,while trees were more aff ected by intraspecifi c interactions.Moreover,competition between trees in this area could be more common than facilitation for the growth and development of individuals. | Changxing Zhao Weijun Zhao Ming Jin Jiqiang Zhou Feng Ta Lei Wang Wenbo Mou Longju Lei Jinrong Liu Junlin Du Xinglin Zhang | 2023 | Journal of Forestry Research2023,34,4: | 1 |

| 16 | Highly dispersed NiMo@rGO nanocomposite catalysts fabricated by a two-step hydrothermal method for hydrogen evolution显示文摘Exploring and designing a high-performance non-noble metal catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)are crucial for the large-scale application of H2 by water electrolysis.Here,novel catalysts with NiMo nanoparticles decorated on reduced graphene oxide(NiMo@r GO)synthesized by a two-step hydrothermal method were reported.Physical characterization results showed that the prepared NiMo@r GO-1 had an irregular lamellar structure,and the NiMo nanoparticles were uniformly dispersed on the rGO.NiMo@rGO-1 exhibited outstanding HER performance in an alkaline environment and required only 93 and 180 mV overpotential for HER in 1.0 M KOH solution to obtain current densities of-10 and-50 mA·cm^(-2),respectively.Stability tests showed that NiMo@rGO-1 had a certain operating stability for32 h.Under the same condition,the performance of NiMo@rGO-1 can be comparable with that of commercial Pt/C catalysts at high current density.The synergistic effect between NiMo particles and lamellate graphene can remarkably promote charge transfer in electrocatalytic reactions.As a result,NiMo@rGO-1 presented the advantages of high intrinsic activity,large specific surface area,and small electrical impedance.The lamellar graphene played a role in dispersion to prevent the aggregation of nanoparticles.The prepared NiMo@rGO-1 can be used in anion exchange membrane water electrolysis to produce hydrogen.This study provides a simple preparation method for efficient and low-cost water electrolysis to produce hydrogen in the future. | Duanhao Cao Xiaofeng Ma Yipeng Zhang La Ta Yakun Yang Chao Xu Feng Ye Jianguo Liu | 2023 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2023,30,12: | 0 |
