Enhanced antibacterial behavior of a novel Cu-bearing high-entropy alloy显示文摘Contact infection of bacteria and viruses has been a critical threat to human health. The worldwideoutbreak of COVID-19 put forward urgent requirements for the research and development of the selfantibacterial materials, especially the antibacterial alloys. Based on the concept of high-entropy alloys, thepresent work designed and prepared a novel Co_(0.4)FeCr_(0.9)Cu_(0.3) antibacterial high-entropy alloy with superior antibacterial properties without intricate or rigorous annealing processes, which outperform the antibacterial stainless steels. The antibacterial tests presented a 99.97% antibacterial rate against Escherichiacoli and a 99.96% antibacterial rate against Staphylococcus aureus after 24 h. In contrast, the classic antibacterial copper-bearing stainless steel only performed the 71.50% and 80.84% antibacterial rate, respectively. The results of the reactive oxygen species analysis indicated that the copper ion release and theimmediate contact with copper-rich phase had a synergistic effect in enhancing antibacterial properties. Moreover, this alloy exhibited excellent corrosion resistance when compared with the classic antibacterialstainless steels, and the compression test indicated the yield strength of the alloy was 1015 MPa. Thesefindings generate fresh insights into guiding the designs of structure-function-integrated antibacterial alloys.Guangyu Ren Lili Huang Kunling Hu Tianxin Li Yiping Lu Dongxu Qiao Haitao Zhang Dake Xu Tongmin Wang Tingju Li Peter K.Liaw 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,22:6
Review on observational studies of western tropical Pacific Ocean circulation and climate显示文摘The Western Tropical Pacific(WTP) Ocean holds the largest area of warm water(>28℃) in the world ocean referred to as the Western Pacific Warm Pool(WPWP),which modulates the regional and global climate through strong atmospheric convection and its variability. The WTP is unique in terms of its complex 3-D ocean circulation system and intensive multiscale variability, making it crucial in the water and energy cycle of the global ocean.Great advances have been made in understanding the complexity of the WTP ocean circulation and associated climate impact by the international scientific community since the 1960 s through field experiments. In this study,we review the evolving insight to the 3-D structure and multi-scale variability of the ocean circulation in the WTP and their climatic impacts based on in-situ ocean observations in the past decades, with emphasis on the achievements since 2000.The challenges and open que stions remaining are reviewed as well as future plan for international study of the WTP ocean circulation and climate.HU Dunxin WANG Fan SPRINTALL Janet WU Lixin RISER Stephen CRAVATTE Sophie GORDON Arnold ZHANG Linlin CHEN Dake ZHOU Hui ANDO Kentaro WANG Jianing LEE Jae-Hak HU Shijian WANG Jing ZHANG Dongxiao FENG Junqiao LIU Lingling VILLANOY Cesar KALUWIN Chalapan QU Tangdong MA Yixin 2020Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,4:3
Association of long non-coding RNA HOTAIR and MALAT1 variants with cervical cancer risk in Han Chinese women显示文摘Long noncoding RNA(lncRNA) HOTAIR and MALAT1 are implicated in the development of multiple cancers. Genetic variants within HOTAIR and MALAT1 may affect the gene expression, thereby modifying genetic susceptibility to cervical cancer. A case-control study was designed, including 1 486 cervical cancer patients and 1 536 healthy controls. Based on RegulomeDB database, 11 SNPs were selected and genotyped by using Sequenom’s Mass ARRAY. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to calculate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(CI). We found that the A allele of rs35643724 in HOTAIR was associated with increased risk of cervical cancer, while the C allele of rs1787666 in MALAT1 was associated with decreased risk. Compared to individuals with 0–1 unfavorable allele, those with 3–4 unfavorable alleles showed18% increased odds of having cervical cancer. Our findings suggest that HOTAIR rs35643724 and MALAT1 rs1787666 might represent potential biomarkers for cervical cancer susceptibility.Meiqun Jia Lulu Ren Lingmin Hu Hongxia Ma Guangfu Jin Dake Li Ni Li Zhibin Hu Dong Hang 2019The Journal of Biomedical Research2019,33,5:2
Growth of single-walled carbon nanotubes from Ag15 cluster catalysts显示文摘Chirality-specific growth of single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWNTs) remains a challenge for their practical applications in electronics. Here, we explored the surface growth of SWNTs by utilizing the atomic-precise silver cluster complex [Ag_(15){1,3,5–(C:C)_3–C_6H_3}_2(Py[8])_3–(CF_3SO_3)_3](CF_3SO_3)_6(Py[8] is abbreviation for octamethylazacalix[8]pyridine) as a catalyst precursor. The diameters of most acquired SWNTs distributed in the range of 1.2–1.4 nm, which is suitable for making high performance field-effect transistors. The high quality of the obtained SWNTs was evidenced by Raman spectroscopy and electrical measurements. Successful growth of high quality SWNTs in this study foresees that rational design of metal-organic complexes as growth catalysts can open up a new avenue for the controllable synthesis of SWNTs.Dake Hu Xin He Lifei Sun Guanchen Xu Liying Jiao Liang Zhao 2016Science Bulletin2016,61,12:1
In vitro Transcriptome Analysis of Two Chinese Isolates of Streptococcus suis Serotype 2显示文摘The Streptococcus suis serotype 2(S. suis 2) isolates 05ZYH33 and 98HAH33 have caused severe human infections in China. Using a strand-specific RNA-seq analysis, we compared the in vitro transcriptomes of these two Chinese isolates with that of a reference strain(P1/7). In the89 K genomic island that is specific to these Chinese isolates, a toxin–antitoxin system showed relatively high levels of transcription among the S. suis. The known virulence factors with high transcriptional activity in these two highly-pathogenic strains are mainly involved in adhesion, biofilm formation, hemolysis and the synthesis and transport of the outer membrane protein. Furthermore, our analysis of novel transcripts identified over 50 protein-coding genes with one of them encoding a toxin protein. We also predicted over 30 small RNAs(s RNAs) in each strain, and most of them are involved in riboswitches. We found that six s RNA candidates that are related to bacterial virulence, including csp A and rli38, are specific to Chinese isolates. These results provide insight into the factors responsible for the difference in virulence among the different S. suis 2 isolates.Dake Zhang Nan Du Sufang Ma Qingtao Hu Guangwen Lu Wei Chen Changqing Zeng 2014Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2014,12,6:1
Fast growth of large single-crystalline WS_(2) monolayers via chemical vapor deposition显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D)tungsten disulfide(WS2)has emerged as a promising ultrathin semiconductor for building high-performance nanoelectronic devices. The controllable synthesis of WS2 monolayers(1L)with both large size and high quality remains as a challenge. Here,we developed a new approach for the chemical vapor deposition(CVD)growth of WS2 monolayers by using K2WS4 as the growth precursor. The simple chemistry involved in our approach allowed for improved controllability and a fast growth rate of~30μm·min−1.We achieved the reliable growth of 1L WS2 flakes with side lengths of up to~500μm and the obtained WS2 flakes were 2D single crystals with low density of defects over a large area as evidenced by various spectroscopic and microscopic characterizations. In addition, the large 1L WS2 single crystals we obtained showed higher electrical performance than their counterparts grown with previous approaches, demonstrating the potential of our approach in producing high quality and large 2D semiconductors for future nanoelectronics.Shengxue Zhou Lina Liu Shuang Cui Xiaofan Ping Dake Hu Liying Jiao 2021Nano Research2021,14,6:1

Mixed diversity of shifting IOD and El Nino dominates the location of Maritime Continent autumn drought显示文摘The Maritime Continent is a huge heat source region over the Indo-Pacific warm pool and it plays a key role in global weather/climate variations. The locations of Maritime Continent autumn droughts, linked to frequent rampant forest wildfires, are closely related to the mixed diversity of El Nino and Indian Ocean Dipole events.Chundi Hu Tao Lian Ho-Nam Cheung Shaobo Qiao Zhenning Li Kaiqiang Deng Song Yang Dake Chen 2020National Science Review2020,7,7:0
Common Postzygotic Mutational Signatures in Healthy Adult Tissues Related to Embryonic Hypoxia显示文摘Postzygotic mutations are acquired in normal tissues throughout an individual’s lifetime and hold clues for identifying mutagenic factors. Here,we investigated postzygotic mutation spectra of healthy individuals using optimized ultra-deep exome sequencing of the time-series samples from the same volunteer as well as the samples from different individuals. In blood, sperm, and muscle cells,we resolved three common types of mutational signatures.Signatures A and B represent clocklike mutational processes, and the polymorphisms of epigenetic regulation genes influence the proportion of signature B in mutation profiles.Notably, signature C,characterized by C>T transitions at GpCpN sites, tends to be a feature of diverse normal tissues.Mutations of this type are likely to occur early during embryonic development, supported by their relatively high allelic frequencies, presence in multiple tissues, and decrease in occurrence with age.Almost none of the public datasets for tumors feature this signature, except for 19.6%of samples of clear cell renal cell carcinoma with increased activation of the hypoxia-inducible factor 1(HIF-1)signaling pathway. Moreover, the accumulation of signature C in the mutation profile was accelerated in a human embryonic stem cell line with drug-induced activation of HIF-1α.Thus,embryonic hypoxia may explain this novel signature across multiple normal tissues. Our study suggests that hypoxic condition in an early stage of embryonic development is a crucial factor inducing C>T transitions at GpCpN sites;and individuals’genetic background may also influence their postzygotic mutation profiles.Yaqiang Hong Dake Zhang Xiangtian Zhou Aili Chen Amir Abliz Jian Bai Liang Wang Qingtao Hu Kenan Gong Xiaonan Guan Mengfei Liu Xinchang Zheng Shujuan Lai Hongzhu Qu Fuxin Zhao Shuang Hao Zhen Wu Hong Cai Shaoyan Hu Yue Ma Junting Zhang Yang Ke Qian-Fei Wang Wei Chen Changqing Zeng 2022Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2022,20,1:0
