| 1 | Perspectives on studies on soil carbon stocks and the carbon sequestration potential of China显示文摘Soil carbon stocks and sequestration have been given a lot of attention recently in the study of terrestrial ecosystems and global climate change.This review focuses on the progress made on the estimation of the soil carbon stocks of China,and the characterization of carbon dynamics of croplands with regard to climate change,and addresses issues on the mineralization of soil organic carbon in relation to greenhouse gas emissions.By integrating existing research data,China's total soil organic carbon(SOC) stock is estimated to be 90 Pg and its inorganic carbon(SIC) stock as 60 Pg,with SOC sequestration rates in the range of 20-25 Tg/a for the last two decades.An estimation of the biophysical potential of SOC sequestration has been generally agreed as being 2 Pg over the long term,of which only 1/3 could be attainable using contemporary agricultural technologies in all of China's croplands.Thus,it is critical to enhance SOC sequestration and mitigate climate change to improve agricultural and land use management in China.There have been many instances where SOC accumulation may not induce an increased amount of decomposition under a warming scenario but instead favor improved cropland productivity and ecosystem functioning.Furthermore,unchanged or even decreased net global warming potential(GWP) from croplands with enhanced SOC has been reported by a number of case studies using life cycle analysis.Future studies on soil carbon stocks and the sequestration potential of China are expected to focus on:(1) Carbon stocks and the sequestration capacity of the earths' surface systems at scales ranging from the plot to the watershed and(2) multiple interface processes and the synergies between carbon sequestration and ecosystem productivity and ecosystem functioning at scales from the molecular level to agro-ecosystems.Soil carbon science in China faces new challenges and opportunities to undertake integrated research applicable to many areas. | ZHENG JuFeng CHENG Kun PAN GenXing Pete SMITH LI LianQing ZHANG XuHui ZHENG JinWei HAN XiaoJun DU YanLing | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,35: | 24 |
| 2 | Optimized coagulation pretreatment alleviates ultrafiltration membrane fouling: The role of floc properties and slow-mixing speed on mechanisms of chitosan-assisted coagulation显示文摘To alleviate ultrafiltration(UF) membrane fouling, the pre-coagulation of poly-aluminum chloride(PACl) with the aid of chitosan(CTS) was conducted for synthetic humic acid–kaolin water treatment. Pre-coagulation of three molecular weights(MW) CTSs(50–190 kDa(CTSL), 190–310 kDa(CTSM) and 310–375 kDa(CTSH)) was optimized with slow-mixing speeds of 30, 60 and 90 r/min, respectively. The removal efficiency and floc properties as well as membrane fouling were analyzed, and were compared to results obtained by conventional coagulation with PACl. Results showed that variations in floc properties could be ascribed to the coagulation mechanisms of CTS_L/CTS_M/CTS_H at different slow-mixing speeds, resulting in reduced UF membrane fouling. Specifically, at the low speed of 30 r/min, all three CTS types produced flocs with similar properties, while CTSLresulted in the lowest removal efficiency and aggravated irreversible fouling. At the appropriate speed of 60 r/min, CTSMgenerated the most compact flocs with the combined effects of bridging and path mechanisms. The compact cake layer formed could alleviate irreversible fouling,which was beneficial for prolonging the operation of the UF membrane. At the high speed of90 r/min, CTSHformed fragile flocs and aggravated irreversible membrane fouling. | 3 | Identifying absorbable bioactive constituents of Yupingfeng Powder acting on COVID-19 through integration of UPLC-Q/TOF-MS and network pharmacology analysis显示文摘Objective:Yupingfeng Powder(YPF),a kind of preventative patent medicine,is chosen for treatment of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)due to its high frequency application in respiratory tract diseases,such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,asthma,respiratory tract infections,and pneumonia,with the advantage of reducing the relapse rate and the severity.However,the active components of YPF and the mechanisms of components affecting COVID-19 are unclear.This study aimed to determine active constituents and elucidate its potential mechanisms.Methods:Ultra performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time of flight mass spectrometry(UPLCQ/TOF-MS)and liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry(LC-QQQ-MS)were used to determine the components and absorbable constituents of YPF.Secondly,TCMSP,Drugbank,Swiss and Pharm Mapper were used to search the targets of absorbable bioactive constituents of YPF,and the targets of COVID-19 were identified based on Gene Cards and OMIM databases.STRING database was used to filter the possible inter-protein interactions.Thirdly,Gene Ontology(GO)enrichment analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathways analysis were performed to identify molecular function and systemic involvement of target genes.Results:A total of 61 components of YPF and 36 absorbable constituents were identified through UPLC-Q/TOF-MS.Wogonin,prim-O-glucosylcimifugin,5-O-methylvisamminol,astragalosideⅣand 5-Omethylvisamminol(hydroxylation)were vital constituents for the treatment of COVID-19,and RELA,TNF,IL-6,MAPK14 and MAPK8 ere recognized as key targets of YPF.The major metabolic reactions of the absorbed constituents of YPF were demethylation,hydroxylation,sulfation and glucuronidation.GO and KEGG pathway analysis further showed that the most important functions of YPF were T cell activation,response to molecule of bacterial origin,cytokine receptor binding,receptor ligand activity,cytokine activity,IL-17 signaling pathway,Chagas disease,lipid and atherosclerosis,etc.Conclusion:The approach of combining UPLC-Q/TOF-MS with network pharmacology is an effective tool to identify potentially bioactive constituents of YPF and its key targets on treatment of COVID-19. | Linyan Wang Zhongyan Du Yang Guan Bo Wang Yanling Pei Lizong Zhang Mingsun Fang | 2022 | Chinese Herbal Medicines2022,14,2: | 3 |
| 4 | Asymmetric Response of the South China Sea SST to El Nio and La Nia显示文摘The interannual variability of the sea surface temperature (SST) in the South China Sea (SCS) is investigated according to its relationship with El Nio/La Nia (EN/LN) using monthly products from ICOADS. The SCS SST bears two peaks associated with EN/LN and shows the asymmetric features. Coinciding with the mature phase of EN/LN, the first SST warming/cooling peaks in December(0)-February(1) (DJF(1)) and centers in the southern part. The major difference is in the amplitude associated with the strength of EN/LN. However, the SCS SST anomaly shows distinct difference after the mature phase of EN/LN. The EN SST warm-ing develops a mid-summer peak in June-August(1) (JJA(1)) and persists up to September-October(1), with the same amplitude of the first warming peak. Whereas the LN SST cooling peaks in May(1), it decays slowly until the end of the year, with amplitude much weaker. | 6 | Prevalence and risk factors of enteral nutrition intolerance in intensive care unit patients: a retrospective study显示文摘Background: Feeding intolerance (FI) among intensive care unit (ICU) patients undergoing early continuous enteral nutrition (EN) is related to poor outcomes. This study aimed to explore the prevalence and risk factors of FI in ICU patients.Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 1057 patients who received early continuous EN via a nasogastric tube between January 2014 and August 2019. The prevalence of FI during the first 7 days of ICU stay was calculated, and the risk factors were investigated using multivariate logistic regression analysis.Results: The prevalence of FI during the first 7 days of ICU stay was 10.95%. FI occurred in 159 of 1057 (15.04%) patients on ICU day 2, 114 of 977 (11.67%) patients on ICU day 3, and 86 of 715 (12.03%) patients on ICU day 7. Mechanical ventilation (MV) (odds ratio [OR]: 1.928, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.064–3.493,P = 0.03) was an independent risk factor for FI defined by a gastric residual volume (GRV) of 200 mL and/or vomiting, and acute renal failure (OR: 3.445, 95% CI: 1.115–10.707,P = 0.032) was an independent risk factor of FI defined by a GRV of 500 mL and/or vomiting. Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) was an independent predictor regardless of the FI defined by a GRV of 200 mL (OR: 2.064, 95% CI: 1.233–3.456,P = 0.006) or 500 mL (OR: 6.199, 95% CI: 2.108–18.228,P = 0.001) in the ICU patients.Conclusions: FI occurs frequently in early ICU days, especially in patients receiving MV and CRRT. | 8 | Solvothermal synthesis of CdS nanorods and photovoltaic characteristics of CdS/PVK composite system显示文摘Large quantities of CdS nanorods are successfully synthesized through Cd(CH3COO)2·2H2O reacting with Na2S·9H2O and EDA in aqueous solution. XRD result shows that the sample is of hexagonal structure. And TEM result shows that the morphologies of the resulting CdS are mainly in three-armed rod-like structure with a diameter of 10―15 nm and a length of 100 nm. The nanocomposites of CdS/PVK with different molar ratios are prepared by spin coating method on tin-doped indium oxide (ITO) substrate. A notable decrease of photoluminescence (PL) efficiency and a significant enhance-ment of surface photovoltage signal have been observed in CdS/PVK composites when the molar frac-tion of CdS increases. We interpret these results as the energy level matching between CdS and PVK in nanocomposites. This energy level matching facilitates fast interfacial charge transfer then increases the separation efficiency of electron-hole pairs and the carrier generation efficiency. | 12 | Estimating submarine groundwater discharge at a subtropical river estuary along the Beibu Gulf,China显示文摘In certain regions,submarine groundwater discharge(SGD)into the ocean plays a significant role in coastal material fluxes and their biogeochemical cycle;therefore,the impact of SGD on the ecosystem cannot be ignored.In this study,SGD was estimated using naturally occurring radium isotopes(^(223)Ra and ^(224)Ra)in a subtropical estuary along the Beibu Gulf,China.The results showed that the Ra activities of submarine groundwater were approximately 10 times higher than those of surface water.By assuming a steady state and using an Ra mass balance model,the SGD flux in May 2018 was estimated to be 5.98×10^(6) m^(3)/d and 3.60×10^(6) m^(3)/d based on 224Ra and 223Ra,respectively.At the same time,the activities of Ra isotopes fluctuated within a tidal cycle;that is,a lower activity was observed at high tide and a higher activity was seen at low tide.Based on these variations,the average tidal pumping fluxes of SGD were 1.15×10^(6) m^(3)/d and 2.44×10^(6) m^(3)/d with 224Ra and 223Ra,respectively.Tidaldriven SGD accounts for 24%-51%of the total SGD.Therefore,tidal pumping is an important driving force of the SGD in the Dafengjiang River(DFJR)Estuary.Furthermore,the SGD of the DFJR Estuary in the coastal zone contributes significantly to the seawater composition of the Beibu Gulf and the material exchange between land and sea. | Xilong Wang Kaijun Su Juan Du Linwei Li Yanling Lao Guizhen Ning Li Bin | 2021 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2021,40,9: | 1 |

| 17 | Distinguishing the main components of submarine groundwater and estimating the corresponding fluxes based on radium tracing method—taking the Maowei Sea for example显示文摘Submarine groundwater discharge(SGD)is an important part in the land-sea interactions,which mainly contains three components:submarine fresh groundwater discharge(SFGD),tidal flat recirculated saline groundwater discharge(tidal flat RSGD)and subtidal recirculated saline groundwater discharge(subtidal RSGD).In order to make a more accurate assessment of the impact of SGD on coastal ecological environment,it is necessary to distinguish the main components of SGD.In this study,the Maowei Sea,located in the northern part of the Beibu Gulf,was selected as the study area.Based on the radium(Ra)tracing method,we present a new analytical method for distinguishing the three main components of SGD in this area combined with field data.The average daily flow along the coastline of the Maowei Sea of tidal flat RSGD was slightly higher than that of SFGD,and both two were on the magnitude of 1×10^(5)m^(3)/d.The average daily flow for the subtidal RSGD of the entire subtidal zone of the Maowei Sea reached to the magnitude of 1×10^(6)-1×10^(7)m^(3)/d.The long-term variation trend of terrestrial SGD is a valuable information for the study of the influence of terrigenous material on the coastal ecological environment.Based on the results of four sampling periods,it is found that the fluxes of SFGD and tidal flat RSGD in the Maowei Sea had good linear correlation with the net precipitation.As an example,January 2015 to August 2022 were selected as the study periods,and the variation trends of SFGD and tidal flat RSGD were calculated by linear function with net precipitation as the independent variable.The results showed that the flux of tidal flat RSGD was slightly higher than that of SFGD,and the difference between the two is larger in flood season while smaller in dry season.In general,in the coastal range of China,the total SGD flux in the Maowei Sea area is at a high level,and the SFGD flux is at a medium level. | Linwei Li Jinzhou Du Xilong Wang Yanling Lao | 2023 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,8: | 0 |

The results indicate that the surface photovoltage response of nanotubes extends to the visible light region, and the intensity of surface photovoltage is enhanced after modification with CdSe QDs. The field-induced surface photovoltage spectroscopy (FISPS) shows that sodium titanate nanotubes have different photovoltaic response before and after modification. That is, the surface photovoltaic re-sponse of pure sodium titanate nanotubes increases with the enhancement of positive applied bias and decreases with the enhancement of negative applied bias. Meanwhile, the surface photovoltaic re-sponse of CdSe modified sodium titanate nanotubes is different from that of the pure sodium titanate nanotubes. The whole spectrum increases with the enhancement of applied bias at the first stage. However, when the applied bias reaches a certain value, the surface photovoltage response keeps in-creasing in some spectrum regions, while decreasing in other spectrum regions.
