Polaron Effect of a Two Electron Parabolic Quantum Dot显示文摘Polaron induced double electron in a quantum dot is investigated using the exact diagonalization techniques and the compact density-matrix approach. The dependence of nonlinear optical processes on the incident photon energies and the polaronic effect are brought out. The linear, third order non-linear optical absorption coefficients and the refractive index changes of singlet and triplet states as a function of photon energy are obtained with and without the inclusion of polaronic effect. It is found that the geometrical confinement and the effect of polaron have great influence on the optical properties of dots. | S.Saravana Kumar A.John Peter Chang Kyoo Yoo | 2013 | Communications in Theoretical Physics2013,59,6: | 5

Solution for fractional potential KdV and Benjamin equations using the novel technique显示文摘In this paper,we find the solutions for fractional potential Korteweg-de Vries(p-KdV)and Benjamin equations using q-homotopy analysis transform method(q-HATM).The considered method is the mixture of q-homotopy analysis method and Laplace transform, and the Caputo fractional operator is considered in the present investigation. The projected solution procedure manipulates and controls the obtained results in a large admissible domain.Further,it offers a simple algorithm to adjust the convergence province of the obtained solution. To validate the q-HATM is accurate and reliable, the numerical simulations have been conducted for both equations and the outcomes are revealed through the plots and tables.Comparison between the obtained solutions with the exact solutions exhibits that, the considered method is efficient and effective in solving nonlinear problems associated with science and technology. | P.Veeresha D.G.Prakasha N.Magesh A.John Christopher Deepak Umrao Sarwe | 2021 | Journal of Ocean Engineering and Science2021,6,3: | 2

Radiative life time of an exciton confined in a strained GaN/Ga_(1-x)Al_xN cylindrical dot:built-in electric field effects显示文摘The binding energy of an exciton in a wurtzite GaN/GaAlN strained cylindrical quantum dot is investigated theoretically. The strong built-in electric field due to the spontaneous and piezoelectric polarizations of a GaN/GaAlN quantum dot is included.Numerical calculations are performed using a variational procedure within the single band effective mass approximation.Valence-band anisotropy is included in our theoretical model by using different hole masses in different spatial directions. The exciton oscillator strength and the exciton lifetime for radiative recombination each as a function of dot radius have been computed. The result elucidates that the strong built-in electric field influences the oscillator strength and the recombination life time of the exciton. It is observed that the ground state exciton binding energy and the interband emission energy increase when the cylindrical quantum dot height or radius is decreased, and that the exciton binding energy, the oscillator strength and the radiative lifetime each as a function of structural parameters (height and radius) sensitively depend on the strong built-in electric field. The obtained results are useful for the design of some opto-photoelectronic devices. | Chang Woo Lee A.John Peter | 2011 | Chinese Physics B2011,20,7: | 0
Energy Gap Dependence on Mn Content in a Diluted Magnetic Quantum Dot显示文摘Positively charged donor exciton binding energy is computed as a function of quantum-dot size within the single band effective mass approximation for different Mn contents in Cd_(1)−x_(in)Mn_(xin)Te/Cd_(1−xout)outMn_(xout)outTe.The exciton bound polaron is computed for 0≤x≤0.08,on the Mn mole fraction. We determine the energy gap using the mean field approximation and incorporate the exchange interaction between the carrier and the magnetic impurity. The interband emission energy is studied with the height and radius of the cylindrical quantum dot.Valence-band anisotropy is included in our theoretical model using different hole masses in different spatial directions.Spin polaronic shifts as functions of quantum-dot radius and Mn concentration are estimated using the mean field theory. It is found that(i)the energy gap depends on the Mn mole fraction,(ii)it increases linearly with an increase in Mn content, and(iii)the effect is more pronounced for a narrow dot, showing the quantum size effects. Our results are in good agreement with other recently published reports. | P.Nalini A.John Peter | 2011 | Chinese Physics Letters2011,28,4: | 0
Finite Element Modeling in Drilling of Nimonic C-263 Alloy Using Deform-3D显示文摘The paper proposes a simulated 3D Finite Element Model(FEM)for drilling of Nickel based super alloy known as Nimonic C-263.The Lagrangian finite element model-based simulations were performed to determine the thrust force, temperature generation, effective stress, and effective strain. The simulations were performed according to the L27 orthogonal array.A perfect plastic work piece was assumed, and the shape is considered to be cylindrical. The spindle speed, feed rate, and point angle were considered as the input parameters. The work piece was modeled by Johnson-Cook(JC)material model and tungsten carbide(WC)was chosen as the drill bit and the body was assumed to be rigid. The demonstrative results of the thrust force and the temperature at drill bit cutting edge were substantiated with the simulated results and a percentage error was observed within 10%.Further,simulated results of effective stress and strain were also observed. | M.Nagaraj A.John Presin Kumar C.Ezilarasan Rishab Betala | 2019 | Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2019,,3: | 0
Electronic and optical properties of CdS/CdZnS nanocrystals显示文摘Cd1-x ZnxS nanocrystals are prepared by a co-precipitation method with different atomic fractions of Zn.The texture, structural transformation and optical properties with increasing x value in Cd1-x ZnxS are studied with scanning electron microscopy, electron diffraction patterning, and absorption spectra respectively.Quantum confinement in a strained CdS/Cd1-xZnxS related nanodot with various Zn content values is investigated theoretically.Binding energies on exciton bound CdS/CdxZn1-xS quantum dot are computed, with consideration of the internal electric field induced by the spontaneous and piezoelectric polarizations, and thereby the interband emission energy is calculated as a function of the dot radius. The optical band gap from the UV absorption spectrum is compared with the interband emission energy computed theoretically. Our results show that the average diameter of composite nanoparticles ranges from 3 nm to 6 nm.The X-ray diffraction pattern shows that all the peaks shift towards the higher diffracting angles with an increase in Zn content. The lattice constant gradually decreases as the Zn content increases. The strong absorption edge shifts towards the lower wavelength region and hence the band gap of the films increases as the Zn content increases. The values of the absorption edge are found to shift towards the shorter wave length region and hence the direct band gap energy varies from 2.5 eV for the CdS film and 3.5 eV for the ZnS film. Our numerical results are in good agreement with the experimental results. | A.John Peter Chang Woo Lee | 2012 | Chinese Physics B2012,21,8: | 0
Photo-Induced Electron Spin Polarization in a Narrow Band Gap Semiconductor Nanostructure显示文摘Photo-induced spin dependent electron transmission through a narrow gap InSb/InGa_(x)Sb_(1-x) semiconductor symmetric well is theoretically studied using transfer matrix formulism. The transparency of electron transmission is calculated as a function of electron energy for different concentrations of gallium.Enhanced spin-polarized photon assisted resonant tunnelling in the heterostructure due to Dresselhaus and Rashba spin-orbit coupling induced splitting of the resonant level and compressed spin-polarization are observed. Our results show that Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling is dominant for the photon effect and the computed polarization efficiency increases with the photon effect and the gallium concentration. | A.John Peter Chang Woo Lee | 2012 | Chinese Physics Letters2012,29,11: | 0

A study of PFBR auxiliary neutron source strength activation and its variability with respect to the neutron spectrum and 123Sb capture cross section显示文摘In fast reactors, the inherent neutron source strength is often insufficient for monitoring the reactor start-up operation with ex-core detectors. To increase the subcritical neutron flux, an auxiliary neutron source subassembly(SSA) is generally used to overcome this problem. In this study, the estimated neutron source strength and detector count rate of an antimony-beryllium-based SSA are obtained using the deterministic transport code DORT and Monte Carlo calculations. Because the antimony activation rate is a critical parameter, its sensitivity to the capture cross section and neutron flux spectrum is studied. The reaction cross section sensitivity is studied by considering data from different evaluated nuclear data files. It is observed that, because of the variation in the cross sections from different evaluated nuclear data files, the values of the saturation gamma(> 1.67 MeV) activity and neutron strength predicted by ORIGEN2 lie within ±2%.The obtained antimony activation rate and sensitivity to the neutron flux are partially validated by irradiating samples of antimony in the KAMINI reactor. The average onegroup capture cross sections of bare and cadmium-covered 123Sb samples obtained by the ratio method are 4.0 and 1.78 b, respectively. The results of the calculation predicting the activated neutron source strength as a function of operating time and sensitivity to the neutron spectrum in the irradiation region are also presented. | G.Pandikumar D.Sunil Kumar M.M.Shanthi Bagchi Subhrojit A.John Arul D.Venkata Subramanian Rajeev Ranjan Prasad | 2019 | Nuclear Science and Techniques2019,30,8: | 0
Dielectric confinement on exciton binding energy and nonlinear optical properties in a strained Zn_(1-x_(in))Mg_(x(in))Se/Zn_(1-x(out))Mg_(x(out))Se quantum well显示文摘The band offsets for a Zn_(1-Xin)Mg_(Xin)Se/Zn_(1-Xout)Mg_(1-Xout)Se quantum well heterostructure are determined using the model solid theory. The heavy hole exciton binding energies are investigated with various Mg alloy contents. The effect of mismatch between the dielectric constants between the well and the barrier is taken into account. The dependence of the excitonic transition energies on the geometrical confinement and the Mg alloy is discussed.Non-linear optical properties are determined using the compact density matrix approach. The linear, third order non-linear optical absorption coefficient values and the refractive index changes of the exciton are calculated for different concentrations of magnesium. The results show that the occurred blue shifts of the resonant peak due to the Mg incorporation give the information about the variation of two energy levels in the quantum well width. | J.Abraham Hudson Mark A.John Peter | 2012 | Journal of Semiconductors2012,33,9: | 0
Magneto-polaron induced intersubband optical transition in a wide band gap Ⅱ–Ⅵ semiconductor quantum dot显示文摘Effects of LO-phonon contribution on the electronic and the optical properties are investigated in a Cd0:8Zn0:2Se/ZnSe quantum dot in the presence of magnetic field strength. The magneto-polaron induced hydrogenic binding energy as a function of dot radius in the wide band gap quantum dot is calculated. The oscillator strength and the spontaneous lifetime are studied taking into account the spatial confinement, magnetic field strength and the phonon contribution. Numerical calculations are carried out using variational formulism within the single band effective mass approximation. The optical properties are computed with the compact density matrix method. The magneto-polaron induced optical gain as a function of photon energy is observed. The results show that the optical telecommunication wavelength in the fiber optic communications can be achieved using CdSe/ZnSe semiconductors and it can be tuned with the proper applications of external perturbations. | P.Christina Lily Jasmine A.John Peter | 2015 | Journal of Semiconductors2015,36,3: | 0
