2Saponin synthesis and cotton growth is antagonistically regulated by solar UV-B radiation显示文摘Background: Earlier we have reported that the exclusion of solar UV-B increased the growth and yield of cotton plants as compared with ambient UV-B. The UV-B radiation effects on the saponins and the impact of ambient and reduced UV-B on the accumulation of saponins has not been investigated yet. Thus a field experiment was conducted to study the influence of solar UV-B on the growth response and saponin synthesis in cotton(Gossypium hirsutum) var. Vikram plants by the exclusion of UV-B. The cotton plants were grown in specially designed iron chambers, wrapped with filters that excluded UV-B(<315 nm), or transmitted ambient UV-B.Results: Exclusion of ambient UV-B enhanced the growth of cotton plants in terms of plant height and leaf area.Greater plant height in UV-B excluded plants was due to elongated internode and more number of nodes.Enhancement in growth was accompanied by a decrease in the accumulation of saponins, which was quantified by the spectrophotometric, TLC and HPLC methods. Solvent extraction of saponins from the internodes and leaves were used for the bioassay of Amaranthus hypocotyl growth and expansion of cucumber cotyledons. Extracts obtained from the UV-B excluded plants(leaves and internodes) promoted the growth to a larger extent as compared with the extracts obtained from ambient grown plants.Conclusions: The result indicates that solar UV-B may possibly suppress the plant growth by regulating the synthesis of natural growth inhibitor's like saponin.DEHARIYA Priti KATARIA Sunita GURUPRASAD Kadur Narayan PANDEY Govind Prakash 2018Journal of Cotton Research2018,1,3:1

7A small molecule fibrokinase inhibitor in a model of fibropolycystic hepatorenal disease显示文摘AIM To evaluate the novel platelet-derived growth factor receptor and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor dual kinase inhibitor ANG3070 in a polycystic kidney disease-congenital hepatic fibrosis model.METHODS At 6 wk of age, PCK rats were randomized to vehicle or ANG3070 for 4 wk. At 10 wk, 24 h urine and left kidneys were collected and rats were continued on treatment for 4 wk. At 14 wk, 24 h urine was collected, rats were sacrificed, and liver and right kidneys were collected for histological evaluation. For Western blot studies, PCK rats were treated with vehicle or ANG3070 for 7 d and sacrificed approximately 30 min after the last treatments.RESULTS Compared to the wild-type cohort, the PCK kidney(Vehicle cohort) exhibited a marked increase in kidney and liver mass, hepato-renal cystic volume, hepato-renal fibrosis and hepato-renal injury biomarkers. Intervention with ANG3070 in PCK rats decreased kidney weight, reduced renal cystic volume and reduced total kidney hydroxyproline, indicating significantly reduced rental interstitial fibrosis compared to the PCK-Vehicle cohort. ANG3070 treatment also mitigated several markers of kidney injury, including urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, kidney injury molecule-1, cystatin C and interleukin-18 levels. In addition, this treatment attenuated key indices of renal dysfunction, including proteinuria, albuminuria and serum blood urea nitrogen and creatinine, and significantly improved renal function compared to the PCK-Vehicle cohort. ANG3070 treatment also significantly decreased liver enlargement, hepatic lesions, and liver fibrosis, and mitigated liver dysfunction compared to the PCK-Vehicle cohort.CONCLUSION These results suggest that ANG3070 has the potential to slow disease, and may serve as a bridge toward hepato-renal transplantation in patients with fibropolycystic disease.Prani Paka Brian Huang Bin Duan Jing-Song Li Ping Zhou Latha Paka Michael A Yamin Scott L Friedman Itzhak D Goldberg Prakash Narayan 2018World Journal of Nephrology2018,7,5:1
8Structural and electrical properties of ferroelectric BiFeO_(3)/HfO_(2) gate stack for nonvolatile memory applications显示文摘Difficulties in the fabrication of direct interface of ferroelectric BiFeO_(3)/HfO_(2) on the gate of ferroelectric field effect transistor(FeFET)is well known.This paper reports the optimization and fabrication of ferroelectric/dielectric(BiFeO_(3)/HfO_(2))gate stack for the FeFET applications.RF magnetron sputtering has been used for the deposition of BiFeO_(3),HfO_(2) films and their stack.X-Ray diffraction(XRD)analysis of BiFeO_(3) shows the dominant perovskite phase of(104),(110)orientation at 2θ=32°at the annealing temperature of 500℃.XRD analysis also confirms the amorphous nature of the HfO2 film at annealing temperature of 400℃,500℃ and 600℃.Multiple angle analysis shows the variation ion the refractive index between 2.98–3.0214 for BiFeO_(3) and 2.74–2.9 for the HfO2 film with the annealing temperature.Metal/Ferroelectric/Silicon(MFS),Metal/Ferroelectric/Metal(MFM),Metal/Insulator/Silicon(MIS),and Metal/Ferroelectric/Insulator/Silicon(MFIS)structures have been fabricated to obtain the electric characteristic of the ferroelectric,dielectric and their stacks.Electrical characteristics of the MFIS structure show the memory improvement from 2.7 V for MFS structure to 4.65 V for MFIS structure with 8 nm of buffer dielectric layer.This structure also shows the breakdown voltage of 40 V with data retention capacity greater than 9×10^(9)iteration cycles.Nitish Yadav Kamal Prakash Pandey Pramod Narayan Tripathiy 2018Journal of Advanced Dielectrics2018,8,5:1

12Anti-steatotic and anti-fibrotic effects of the KCa3.1 channel inhibitor, Senicapoc, in non-alcoholic liver disease显示文摘AIM To evaluate a calcium activated potassium channel(KCa3.1) inhibitor attenuates liver disease in models of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).METHODS We have performed a series of in vitro and in vivo studies using the KCa3.1 channel inhibitor, Senicapoc. Efficacy studies of Senicapoc were conducted in toxin-, thioacetamide(TAA) and high fat diet(HFD)-induced models of liver fibrosis in rats. Efficacy and pharmacodynamic effects of Senicapoc was determined through biomarkers of apoptosis, inflammation, steatosis and fibrosis. RESULTS Upregulation of KCa3.1 expression was recorded in TAA-induced and high fat diet-induced liver disease. Treatment with Senicapoc decreased palmitic aciddriven Hep G2 cell death.(P < 0.05 vs control) supporting the finding that Senicapoc reduces lipiddriven apoptosis in Hep G2 cell cultures. In animals fed a HFD for 6 wk, co-treatment with Senicapoc,(1) reduced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) activity score(NAS)(0-8 scale),(2) decreased steatosis and(3) decreased hepatic lipid content(Oil Red O, P < 0.05 vs vehicle). Randomization of TAA animals and HFD fed animals to Senicapoc was associated with a decrease in liver fibrosis as evidenced by hydroxyproline and Masson's trichrome staining(P < 0.05 vs vehicle). 14Penoscrotal defect:a functional,esthetic,and psychological challenge显示文摘Aim:Penoscrotal defects may be caused by a variety of events.Reconstruction of the penoscrotal region is required not only for aesthetic appearance but also for functional and psychological reasons.Numerous techniques have been described for penoscrotal reconstruction reflecting the challenge and complexity of the region involved.This suggests that no single method is satisfactory for all types and degrees of tissue defects.This prospective study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital in India,over a period of 5 years.Methods:Eighteen patients with penoscrotal defects of varying etiology were included in the study and underwent different surgical techniques.Age of the patients ranged from 20 to 60 years.The etiology of penoscrotal defect was Fournier’s gangrene in 12 cases,trauma in 4 cases,and burn in 2 cases.The patients with Fournier’s gangrene were initially treated by debridement,drainage,and antibiotics.The penoscrotal defects were treated with local flap advancement with skin grafting(n=7),pedicled anterolateral thigh flap(n=4),gracilis muscle flap with split skin grafting(n=4),and medial thigh flap(n=3).Results:There was complete healing in 16 patients with minor complications in the form of partial skin graft loss(n=1)and wound dehiscence(n=1).Results were highly satisfactory in 6 patients,satisfactory in 8 patients,and not satisfactory in 4 patients.Scarring at the donor site was limited and acceptable.Conclusion:The vast arsenal of options for penoscrotal defect coverage ranges from skin grafting to flaps,and every case needs a customized approach with regard to its feasibility,outcome,and complication rate.Flaps should be the preferred choice over the skin grafts because of the superior functional and aesthetic results and better compliance.Durga Karki Pankaj Kumar Patel Ravi Prakash Narayan 2016Plastic and Aesthetic Research2016,3,1:0
