1Augmented renal clearance in Chinese intensive care unit patients after traumatic brain injury: a cross-sectional study显示文摘To the Editor:Augmented renal clearance(ARC)refers to an enhanced elimination of circulating solutes,including drugs,by the kidneys at a rate statistically higher than normal.On the first day of intensive care unit(ICU)admission,ARC occurrence may predict continued creatinine clearance(CrCl)elevation for 1 day to several weeks.[1]ARC has a substantial adverse effect on renally cleared antibiotics'pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics.Treatment failure or worse outcomes are more frequent in ARC patients.Thus,a'one size fits all'approach to drug dosing in ARC patients is inappropriate;dosing requires adjustment for some variables.Zilong Dang Hong Guo Bin Li Maohua Zhen Jian Liu Yuhui Wei Hongyan Qin Zhimin Dou Lei Zhang Lei Zhu Yongqiang Cao Fengjiao Li Xinan Wu 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,,6:3
2Effect of arotinolol on right ventricular function in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy显示文摘Objective Dilated cardiomyopathy(DCM) is generally considered to be accompanied by both left and right ventricular dysfunction,but most studies only analyze the left ventricular function. In this study,we evaluated the effect of arotinolol on right ventricular function in patients with DCM. Methods Right ventricular ejection fraction(RVEF) and right ventricular diameter(RVD) were measured by two-dimensional echocardiography(2-DE) in 33 DCM patients;RVEF measured by first-pass radionuclide angiography(FPRA) was compared with that by 2-DE. Results The treatment with arotinolol for one year resulted in a reduction in the right ventricular diameter(baseline,23.0 ± 8.3 mm vs after one-year treatment,20.7 ± 5.4 mm;P=0.004 ) and an associated increase in ejection fraction(baseline,36.9 ± 10.3% vs after one-year treatment,45.8 ± 9.6%;P < 0.001 ) ;there is a high correlation between the 2-DE method and radionuclide ventriculographic method. The correlation coefficient is 0.933(P<0.001) . 4Characterization of germline development and identification of genes associated with germline specification in pineapple显示文摘Understanding germline specification in plants could be advantageous for agricultural applications.In recent decades,substantial efforts have been made to understand germline speci fication in several plant species,including Arabidopsis,rice,and maize.However,our knowledge of germline speci fication in many agronomically important plant species remains obscure.Here,we characterized the female germline speci fication and subsequent female gametophyte development in pineapple using callose staining,cytological,and whole-mount immunolocalization analyses.We also determined the male germline speci fication and gametophyte developmental timeline and observed male meiotic behavior using chromosome spreading assays.Furthermore,we identi fied 229 genes that are preferentially expressed at the megaspore mother cell(MMC)stage during ovule development and 478 genes that are preferentially expressed at the pollen mother cell(PMC)stage of anther development using comparative transcriptomic analysis.The biological functions,associated regulatory pathways and expression patterns of these genes were also analyzed.Our study provides a convenient cytological reference for exploring pineapple germline development and a molecular basis for the future functional analysis of germline speci fi cation in related plant species.Lihua Zhao Liping Liu Yanhui Liu Xianying Dou Hanyang Cai Mohammad Aslam Zhimin Hou Xingyue Jin Yi Li Lulu Wang Heming Zhao Xiaomei Wang Adrien Sicard Yuan Qin 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:0
5Bio-inspired chiral self-assemblies promoted neuronal differentiation of retinal progenitor cells through activation of metabolic pathway显示文摘Retinal degeneration is a main class of ocular diseases.So far,retinal progenitor cell(RPC)transplantation has been the most potential therapy for it,in which promoting RPCs neuronal differentiation remains an unmet challenge.To address this issue,innovatively designed L/D-phenylalanine based chiral nanofibers(LPG and DPG)are employed and it finds that chirality of fibers can efficiently regulate RPCs differentiation.qPCR,western blot,and immunofluorescence analysis show that right-handed helical DPG nanofibers significantly promote RPCs neuronal differentiation,whereas left-handed LPG nanofibers decrease this effect.These effects are mainly ascribed to the stereoselective interaction between chiral helical nanofibers and retinol-binding protein 4(RBP4,a key protein in the retinoic acid(RA)metabolic pathway).The findings of chirality-dependent neuronal differentiation provide new strategies for treatment of neurodegenerative diseases via optimizing differentiation of transplanted stem cells on chiral nanofibers.Na Sun Xiaoqiu Dou Zhimin Tang Dandan Zhang Ni Ni Jiajing Wang Huiqin Gao Yahan Ju Xiaochan Dai Changli Zhao Ping Gu Jing Ji Chuanliang Feng 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,4:0
