| 2 | Mechanism underlying treatment of ischemic stroke using acupuncture:transmission and regulation显示文摘The inflammatory response after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion is an important cause of neurological damage and repair.After cerebral ischemia/reperfusion,microglia are activated,and a large number of circulating inflammatory cells infiltrate the affected area.This leads to the secretion of inflammatory mediators and an inflammatory cascade that eventually causes secondary brain damage,including neuron necrosis,blood-brain barrier destruction,cerebral edema,and an oxidative stress response.Activation of inflammatory signaling pathways plays a key role in the pathological process of ischemic stroke.Increasing evidence suggests that acupuncture can reduce the inflammatory response after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion and promote repair of the injured nervous system.Acupuncture can not only inhibit the activation and infiltration of inflammatory cells,but can also regulate the expression of inflammation-related cytokines,balance the effects of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory factors,and interfere with inflammatory signaling pathways.Therefore,it is important to study the transmission and regulatory mechanism of inflammatory signaling pathways after acupuncture treatment for cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury to provide a theoretical basis for clinical treatment of this type of injury using acupuncture.Our review summarizes the overall conditions of inflammatory cells,mediators,and pathways after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion,and discusses the possible synergistic intervention of acupuncture in the inflammatory signaling pathway network to provide a foundation to explore the multiple molecular mechanisms by which acupuncture promotes nerve function restoration. | Bing-Qian Cao Feng Tan Jie Zhan Peng-Hui Lai | 2021 | Neural Regeneration Research2021,16,5: | 43 |

| 4 | Mechanism of action of gypenosides on type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in rats显示文摘AIM:To explore the mechanism of action of gypenosides(GPs)on type 2 diabetes mellitus and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(T2DM-NAFLD)in rats.METHODS:Sixty rats were randomly divided into a healthy group,an untreated disease model group andGP-treatment groups.The study involved the evaluation of biochemical parameters,including serum aspartate transaminase(AST),alanine transferase(ALT),blood glucose(BG),triglycerides(TG)and total cholesterol(TC).Additionally,the protective effect of the treatments were confirmed histopathologically and the expression of TNF-αand NF-κB in the rat liver was analyzed using immunohistochemistry.The expression of proliferatoractivated receptor gamma(PPARγ)and cytochrome P450(CYP450)1A1 m RNA was determined by quantitative RTPCR.RESULTS:GP treatments at oral doses of 200,400,and800 mg/kg per day significantly decreased the levels of serum AST and ALT(P<0.05,P<0.01),especially at the dose of 800 mg/kg per day.To a similar extent,GP at800 mg/kg per day reduced the levels of BG(4.19±0.47,P<0.01),TG(80.08±10.05,P<0.01),TC(134.38±16.39,P<0.01)and serum insulin(42.01±5.04,P<0.01).The expression of TNF-αand NF-κB measured by immunohistochemistry was significantly reduced by GPs in a dose-dependent manner,and the expression of PPARγand CYP4501A1 m RNA,as measured using quantitative real-time PCR,were significantly down-regulated by GPs.Moreover,GPs decreased the infiltration of liver fats and reversed the histopathological changes in a dosedependent manner.CONCLUSION:This study suggests that GPs have a protective effect against T2DM-NAFLD by down-regulating the expression of TNF-αand NF-κB proteins,and PPARγand CYP4501A1 m RNAs. | Qin He Jin-Ke Li Fang Li Ru-Gui Li Guo-Qing Zhan Gang Li Wei-Xing Du Hua-Bing Tan | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,7: | 22 |
| 5 | Tumor necrosis factor-α mediates JNK activation response to intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury显示文摘AIM:To investigate whether tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)mediates ischemia-reperfusion(I/R)-induced intestinal mucosal injury through c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK)activation.METHODS:In this study,intestinal I/R was induced by 60-min occlusion of the superior mesenteric artery in rats followed by 60-min reperfusion,and the rats were pretreated with a TNF-α inhibitor,pentoxifylline,or the TNF-α antibody infliximab.After surgery,part of the intestine was collected for histological analysis.The mucosal layer was harvested for RNA and protein extraction,which were used for further real-time polymerase chain reaction,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and Western blotting analyses.The TNF-α expression,intestinal mucosal injury,cell apoptosis,activation of apoptotic protein and JNK signaling pathway were analyzed.RESULTS:I/R significantly enhanced expression of mucosal TNF-α at both the mRNA and protein levels,induced severe mucosal injury and cell apoptosis,activated caspase-9/caspase-3,and activated the JNK signaling pathway.Pretreatment with pentoxifylline markedly downregulated TNF-α at both the mRNA and protein levels,whereas infliximab pretreatment did not affect the expression of TNF-α induced by I/R.However,pretreatment with pentoxifylline or infliximab dramatically suppressed I/R-induced mucosal injury and cell apoptosis and significantly inhibited the activation of caspase-9/3 and JNK signaling.CONCLUSION:The results indicate there was a TNFα-mediated JNK activation response to intestinal I/R injury. | Qi Yang Feng-Ping Zheng Ya-Shi Zhan Jin Tao Si-Wei Tan Hui-Ling Liu Bin Wu | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,30: | 9 |
| 6 | Hot Compress with Chinese Herbal Salt Packets Reducing PICC Catheter Complications: A Randomized Controlled Trial显示文摘Objective: To explore the preventive effect of applying hot compress with Chinese herbal salt packets(CHSP) to puncture vessels under aseptic conditions during peripherally inserted central catheter(PICC) on postoperative phlebitis. Methods: A total of 720 hospitalized patients undergoing first PICC were assigned to treatment and control groups(360 cases each group) according to a random number table. The control group received conventional catheterization and nursing care. The treatment group was first given hot compress with CHSP(which consisted of honeysuckle 30 g, Semen brassicae 30 g, Salvia miltiorrhiza 30 g, Angelica dahurica 30 g, Semen raphani 30 g, Evodia rutaecarpa 30 g, and coarse salt 20 g) on the punctured vessel under aseptic conditions for 5–10 min before conventional catheterization. The main efficacy indices were the vessel diameters before and during catheterization and the success rate of a single catheter, and the secondary efficacy indiex was the incidence of superficial phlebitis within 1 week after catheterization. Results: The vessel diameter during catheterization of the treatment group was remarkably increased compared with the control group [(7.96±0.42) mm vs.(4.39±0.54) mm, P<0.01]. The success rate of the single catheter of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group [94.00%(329/350) vs. 73.72%(244/329), P<0.01]. The incidence of superficial phlebitis within 1 week after catheterization in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P=0.007). There was no adverse event with CHSP. | 7 | Combination of olfactory test and substantia nigra transcranial sonopraphy in the differential diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease:a pilot study from China显示文摘Objectives:Both hyposmia and substania nigra(SN)hyperechogenicity on trascranial sonography(TCS)were risk markers for idiopathic Parkinson’s disease(PD),which was beneficial to the differential diagnosis of the disease.However,each of their single diagnostic value is often limited.The purpose of present study was to explore whether the combination of olfactory test and TCS of SN could enhance the differential diagnostic power in Chinese patients with PD.Methods:Thirty-seven patients with PD and twenty-six patients with essential tremor(ET)were evaluated on 16-item odor identification test from extended version of sniffin’sticks and TCS of SN.The frequency of hyposmia and SN hyperechogenicity in each group was compared.The sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value(PPV)and negative predictive value(NPV)of the two clinical biomarkers were analyzed.Results:The frequency of hyposmia in patients with PD was significantly higher than in patients with ET(62.2%VS.3.8%,P=0.000).The frequency of SN hyperechogenicity in patients with PD was significantly higher than in ET subjects(48.6%VS.15.4%,P=0.006).The combination of hyposmia and SN hyperechogenicity(if either one or both present)discriminated patients with PD from ET with a sensitivity of 78.4%and 29.7%,specificity of 80.8%and 100%,PPV of 85.3%and 100%,and NPV of 72.4%and 50.0%,respectively.Conclusions:Our preliminary data suggested that the combination of hyposmia and SN hyperechogenicity could improve the diagnostic potential for discriminating Chinese patients with PD from ET. | Wei Chen Yu-Yan Tan Yun-Yun Hu Wei-Wei Zhan Li Wu Yue Lou Xi Wang Yi Zhou Pei Huang Yuan Gao Qin Xiao Sheng-Di Chen | 2012 | Translational Neurodegeneration2012,1,1: | 6 |
| 8 | The role of substantia nigra sonography in the differentiation of Parkinson’s disease and multiple system atrophy显示文摘Background:The differential diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease(PD)and multiple system atrophy(MSA)remains a challenge,especially in the early stage.Here,we assessed the value of transcranial sonography(TCS)to discriminate non-tremor dominant(non-TD)PD from MSA with predominant parkinsonism(MSA-P).Methods:Eighty-six MSA-P patients and 147 age and gender-matched non-TD PD patients who had appropriate temporal acoustic bone windows were included in this study.All the patients were followed up for at least 2 years to confirm the initial diagnosis.Patients with at least one substantia nigra(SN)echogenic size≥18 mm^(2) were classified as hyperechogenic,those with at least one SN echogenic size≥25 mm^(2) was defined as markedly hyperechogenic.Results:The frequency of SN hyperechogenicity in non-TD PD patients was significantly higher than that in MSA-P patients(74.1%vs.38.4%,p<0.001).SN hyperechogenicity discriminated non-TD PD from MSA-P with sensitivity of 74.1%,specificity of 61.6%,and positive predictive value of 76.8%.If marked SN hyperechogenicity was used as the cutoff value(≥25 mm^(2)),the sensitivity decreased to 46.3%,but the specificity and positive predictive value increased to 80.2 and 80.0%.Additionally,in those patients with SN hyperechogenicity,positive correlation between SN hyperechogenicity area and disease duration was found in non-TD PD rather than in MSA-P patients.In this context,among early-stage patients with disease duration≤3 years,the sensitivity,specificity and positive predictive value of SN hyperechogenicity further declined to 69.8%,52.2%,and 66.7%,respectively.Conclusions:TCS could help discriminate non-TD PD from MSA-P in a certain extent,but the limitation was also obvious with relatively low specificity,especially in the early stage. | Hai-Yan Zhou Pei Huang Qian Sun Juan-Juan Du Shi-Shuang Cui Yun-Yun Hu Wei-Wei Zhan Ying Wang Qin Xiao Jun Liu Yu-Yan Tan Sheng-Di Chen | 2018 | Translational Neurodegeneration2018,7,1: | 6 |

| 10 | Analysis of QTLs for yield-related traits in Yuanjiang common wild rice (Oryza rufipogon Griff.)显示文摘Using an accession of common wild rice (Oryza rufipogon Griff.) collected from Yuanjiang County, Yunnan Province, China, as the donor and an elite cultivar 93-11, widely used in two-line indica hybrid rice production in China, as the recurrent parent, an advanced backcross populations were developed. Through genotyping of 187 SSR markers and investigation of six yield-related traits of two gen- erations (BC4F2 and BC4F4), a total of 26 QTLs were detected by employing single point analysis and interval mapping in both genera-tions. Of the 26 QTLs, the alleles of 10 (38.5%) QTLs originating from O. rufipogon had shown a beneficial effect for yield-related traits in the 93-11 genetic background. In addition, five QTLs controlling yield and its components were newly identified, indicating that there are potentially novel alleles in Yuanjiang common wild rice. Three regions underling significant QTLs for several yield-related traits were detected on chromosome 1, 7 and 12. The QTL clusters were founded and corresponding agronomic traits of those QTLs showed highly significant correlation, suggesting the pleiotropism or tight linkage. | 11 | Dependence on forming parameters of an integral panel during the electromagnetic incremental forming process显示文摘Nowadays, more and more attentions are paid to electromagnetic incremental forming(EMIF), especially for a part with a large-scale size, e.g., an integral panel with stiffened ribs. In this work, the bending of a panel into a double-curvature profile via EMIF is carried out experimentally and evaluated by comparing the formed profile with the desired profile. During the process,discharges at four positions along different discharge paths are designed. The effects of forming parameters on the die-fittingness of the workpiece are discussed, for which two evaluation indices are used to judge forming results. The results show that a discharge voltage in an incremental mode is helpful to improve the fittingness and avoid the collision rebound against the die at the same time.Discharging at the diagonal positions with the ‘‘X' discharge path exhibits the minimal shape deviation and the best forming uniformity. On the contrary, discharging at the parallel positions with the ‘‘Z' discharge path obtains the worst forming quality. Overlap of the coil at different positions should be given during EMIF; however, a lower overlap rate of the coil helps improve the forming quality. However, during the construction and operation of 5G, telecom operators face many challenges, such as insufficient frequency resources, low efficiency of network management, information opacity, risks of data interoperability, and network privacy vulnerabilities. As 5G is generally deployed in heterogeneous networks with massive ubiquitous devices, it is quite necessary to provide secure and decentralized solutions. Blockchain is a distributed system maintained by multiple parties with inherit features including decentralization,traceability and tamperproof. These features collectively contribute to a new application ecosystem where transactions are secure and trustworthy. Therefore,blockchain is expected to integrate with 5G networks to build safer and more reliable mobile network infrastructures. This paper firstly discusses the merits of blockchain technology and the benefits of integrating it with 5G networks. Then a variety of applications of blockchain technology in telecom network operation are reviewed, including spectrum sharing, international roaming settlement, network operation management, number selection management and supply chain management. | 14 | Combined effects of topography and bottom friction on shoaling internal solitary waves in the South China Sea显示文摘A numerical study to a generalized Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation is adopted to model the propagation and disintegration of large-amplitude internal solitary waves (ISWs) in the South China Sea (SCS). Based on theoretical analysis and in situ measurements, the drag coefficient of the Chezy friction is regarded as inversely proportional to the initial amplitude of an ISW, rather than a constant as assumed in the previous studies. Numerical simulations of ISWs propagating from a deep basin to a continental shelf are performed with the generalized KdV model. It is found that the depression waves are disintegrated into several solitons on the continental shelf due to the variable topography. | 16 | A Nomogram Model for Predicting Type-2 Myocardial Infarction Induced by Acute Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding显示文摘Objective To examine the independent risk factors of type-2 myocardial infarction(T2MI)elicited by acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding(AUGIB),and to establish a nomogram model for the prediction of AUGIB-induced T2MI.Methods A nomogram model was established on the basis of a retrospective study that involved 533 patients who suffered from AUGIB in the Department of Critical Care Medicine(CCM)or Emergency Intensive Care Unit(EICU)of Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University,Wuhan,China,from January 2017 to December 2020.The predictive accuracy and discriminative power of the nomogram were initially evaluated by internal validation,which involved drawing the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve,calculating the area under the curve(AUC),plotting the calibration curve derived from 1000 resampled bootstrap data sets,and computing the root mean square error(RMSE).The predictive ability of the nomogram was further validated through the prospective and multicenter study conducted by the investigators,which enrolled 240 AUGIB patients[including 88 cases from Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University,73 cases from Qilu Hospital of Shandong University(Qingdao),and 79 cases from Northern Jiangsu People’s Hospital)],who were admitted to the Department of CCM or EICU,from February 2021 to July 2021.Results Among the 533 patients in the training cohort,78(14.6%)patients were assigned to the T2MI group and 455(85.4%)patients were assigned to the non-T2MI group.The multivariate analysis revealed that age>65,hemorrhagic shock,cerebral stroke,heart failure,chronic kidney disease,increased blood urea nitrogen,decreased hematocrit,and elevated D-Dimer were independent risk factors for AUGIB-induced T2MI.All these factors were incorporated into the nomogram model.The AUC for the nomogram for predicting T2MI was 0.829(95%CI,0.783-0.875)in the internal validation cohort and 0.848(95%CI,0.794-0.902)in the external validation cohort.The calibration curve for the risk of T2MI exhibited good consistency between the prediction by the nomogram and the actual clinical observation in both the internal validation(RMSE=0.016)and external validation(RMSE=0.020).Conclusion The nomogram was proven to be a useful tool for the risk stratification of T2MI in AUGIB patients,and is helpful for the early identification of AUGIB patients who are prone to T2MI for early intervention,especially in emergency departments and intensive care units. | Gui-jun JIANG Ru-kai GAO Min WANG Tu-xiu XIE Li-ying ZHAN Jie WEI Sheng-nan SUN Pei-yu JI Ding-yu TAN Jing-jun LYU | 2022 | Current Medical Science2022,42,2: | 2 |
| 17 | Realization of high performance for PM6:Y6 based organic photovoltaic cells显示文摘With advances in material science and a more in-depth understanding of device engineering,the power conversion efficiency(PCE)of solution-processed organic photovoltaic(OPV)cells have significantly boosted in the past few years.In 2019,a high PCE of 15.7%was achieved in the OPV cells adopting a wide bandgap polymer PM6 and a new emerging non-fullerene acceptor Y6.Such outstanding performance has attracted lots of research attention,driving considerable efforts to improve or take advantage of the high-performance PM6:Y6-based system.In this review,we first concentrate on the structural characteristics of PM6 and Y6 with the focus on understanding why their combination for OPV application can obtain such high efficiency.We also update the recent progress in highly efficient PM6:Y6-based OPV cells via various optimizing strategies.Then we summarize the other applications of the PM6:Y6-based system in semi-transparent,flexible or lay e-by-layer devices.The prospects for future OPV studies will be suggested in the end. | Runnan Yu Guangzheng Wu Zhan’ao Tan | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,10: | 2 |
| 18 | Phosphate limitation increases coenzyme Q10 production in industrial Rhodobacter sphaeroides HY01显示文摘Coenzyme Q10(CoQ10)is an important component of the respiratory chain in humans and some bacteria.As a high-value-added nutraceutical antioxidant,CoQ10 has excellent capacity to prevent cardiovascular disease.The content of CoQ10 in the industrial Rhodobacter sphaeroides HY01 is hundreds of folds higher than normal physiological levels.In this study,we found that overexpression or optimization of the synthetic pathway failed CoQ10 overproduction in the HY01 strain.Moreover,under phosphate-limited conditions(decreased phosphate or in the absence of inorganic phosphate addition),CoQ10 production increased significantly by 12%to220 mg/L,biomass decreased by 12%,and the CoQ10 productivity of unit cells increased by 27%.In subsequent fed-batch fermentation,CoQ10 production reached 272 mg/L in the shake-flask fermentation and 1.95 g/L in a 100-L bioreactor under phosphate limitation.Furthermore,to understand the mechanism associated with CoQ10 overproduction under phosphate-limited conditions,the comparatve transcriptome analysis was performed.These results indicated that phosphate limitation combined with glucose fed-batch fermentation represented an effective strategy for CoQ10 production in the HY01.Phosphate limitation induced a pleiotropic effect on cell metabolism,and that improved CoQ10 biosynthesis efficiency was possibly related to the disturbance of energy metabolism and redox potential. | Lu Zhang Leshi Liu Ke-Feng Wang Lan Xu Liming Zhou Weishan Wang Chuan Li Zheng Xu Tong Shi Haihong Chen Yuanhang Li Hui Xu XiuLiang Yang Zhichun Zhu Biqin Chen Dan Li Guanghuang Zhan Si-Liang Zhang Li-Xin Zhang Gao-Yi Tan | 2019 | Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2019,4,4: | 2 |
| 19 | Printable SnO2 cathode interlayer with up to 500 nm thickness-tolerance for high-performance and large-area organic solar cells显示文摘The printable electrode interlayer with excellent thickness tolerance is crucial for mass production of organic solar cells(OSCs)by solution-based print techniques. Herein, high-quality printable SnO2 films are simply fabricated by spin-coating or bladecoating the chemical precipitated SnO2 colloid precursor with post thermal annealing treatment. The SnO2 films possess outstanding optical and electrical properties, especially extreme thickness-insensitivity. The interfacial electron trap density of SnO2 cathode interlayers(CILs) are very low and show negligible increase as the thicknesses increase from 10 to 160 nm,resulting in slight change of the power conversion efficiencies(PCEs) of the PM6:Y6 based OSCs from 16.10% to 13.07%. For blade-coated SnO2 CIL, the PCE remains high up to 12.08% even the thickness of SnO2 CIL is high up to 530 nm. More strikingly, the large-area OSCs of 100 mm2 with printed SnO2 CILs obtain a high efficiency of 12.74%.
