| 1 | Tobacco curly shoot virus isolated in Yunnan is a distinct species of Begomovirus显示文摘Virus isolate Y1 was obtained from tobacco showing curly shoot symptoms in Baoshan, Yunnan Province. Whitefly transmission test and virion morphology observa-tion showed that it is a begomovirus. In reactions with 14 monoclonal antibodies raised against begomoviruses, Y1 was readily differentiated from begomoviruses reported in China, Pakistan and India. The complete nucleotide sequence of DNA-A was determined, it contains 2746 nucleotides, with two ORFs in virion-sense DNA and four ORFs in comple-mentary-sense DNA. Comparisons with total DNA-A, inter-genie region and deduced amino acid sequences of individual ORFs showed that Y1 is a distinct Begomovirus species, for which the name Tobacco curly shoot virus (TCSV) is pro-posed. The total DNA-A of TCSV is most closely related to that of Tomato leaf curl virus from India (85% sequence identity). | 5 | Charge structures and cloud-to-ground lightning discharges characteristics in two supercell thunderstorms显示文摘The charge structures and temporal and spatial characteristics of cloud-to-ground (CG) light- ning discharges in two supercell thunderstorms have been analyzed based on the data of three-dimen- sional VHF radiation sources with high time and space resolution produced by lightning discharges. The results indicate that the charge structures in main part (convective region) of the thunderstorms were inverted tripole while a number of positive CG lightning discharges were occurring in the two thun- derstorms. The positive CG lightning discharges oc- curred in main part of the thunderstorms and origi- nated from the positive charge region located at the middle part of the thunderstorms. While a number of negative CG lightning discharges were occurring, the negative CG lightning discharges occurred in the anvil of the thunderstorm. The charge structure is inverted dipole in the region due to the slant of charge structure in main region toward anvil region. The negative charge region located at the upper part of anvil produced a lot of negative CG lightning dis- charges. No or less CG lighting was produced di- rectly by the charge region located at the lower part of the thunderstorm. | 7 | Alterations in phosphoproteome under salt stress in Thellungiella roots显示文摘High salinity stress is a major environmental factor that limits plant's distribution and productivity. An Arabidopsis-related halophyte,Thellungiella halophila,is an emerging model system used for plant abiotic stress tolerance research. Previous studies have suggested that protein phosphorylation has a crucial role in the high salinity response in plants. However,the phosphoproteome differential expression under high salinity stress in halophytes has not been well studied. In this report,phosphoproteome differential expression was analyzed under high salinity stress in Thellungiella roots. Twenty-six putative phosphoproteins were found to have changed expression pattern at the post-translational level. Twenty of these were identified by mass spectrometric analysis,including 18 upregulated and two downregulated phosphoproteins. These proteins were involved in a variety of cellular processes,such as signal transduction,ROS detoxification,energy pathway,protein synthesis and protein folding. While most of these salt-responsive putative phosphoproteins are known salt-stress-related proteins,some of them have not been previously reported. | 9 | Proteomic analysis of long-term salinity stress-responsive proteins in Thellungiella halophila leaves显示文摘Salinity is one of the most severe environmental factors that may impair crop productivity. A proteomic study based on two-dimensional gel electrophoresis is performed in order to analyze the long-term salinity stress response of Thellungiella halophila, an Arabidopsis-related halophyte. Four-week-old seedlings are exposed to long-term salinity treatment. The total crude proteins are extracted from leaf blades, separated by 2-DE, stained with Coomassie Brilliant Blue, and differentially displayed spots are identified by MALDI-TOF MS or QTOF MS/MS. Among 900 protein spots reproducibly detected on each gel, 30 spots exhibit significant change and some of them are identified. The identified proteins include not only some previously characterized stress-responsive proteins such as TIR-NBS-LRR class disease resistance protein, ferritin-1, and pathogenesis-related protein 5, but also some proteins related to energy pathway, metabolism, RNA processing and protein degradation, as well as proteins with unknown functions. | 10 | Uncommon EGFR mutations in a cohort of Chinese NSCLC patients and outcomes of first-line EGFR-TKIs and platinum-based chemotherapy显示文摘Objective: Data on the clinical activity of epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs) in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC) and uncommon EGFR mutations remain insufficient.This study aimed to investigate the effect of first-line EGFR-TKIs or platinum-based chemotherapy in NSCLC patients with uncommon EGFR mutations.Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 504 patients with EGFR-mutant NSCLC.The clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes were collected and compared between patients with common and uncommon EGFR-mutant NSCLC.Results: Seventy patients(13.9%) harboring uncommon EGFR mutations were included.Thirty of these patients received EGFR-TKIs and 40 received platinum-based chemotherapy as first-line therapy.The objective response rate(ORR) and median progression-free survival(m PFS) of patients treated with TKIs in the uncommon mutation group was significantly inferior to that in the common mutation group(ORR: 23.3% vs.51.8%,P=0.003; m PFS:7.1 vs.10.9 months,P<0.001).In the uncommon group,m PFS was similar between first-line EGFR-TKIs treatment and platinum-based chemotherapy(7.1 vs.6.1 months,P=0.893).In patients with EGFR G719 X or L861 Q mutations,the m PFS was longer in the first-line EGFR-TKIs treatment group than in the chemotherapy group,but the difference was not statistically significant(G719 X: 8.2 vs.5.8 months,P=0.061; L861 Q: 7.6 vs.4.1 months,P=0.872).Multivariate analyses identified adenocarcinoma(P=0.003) as the independent predictive factor for PFS in patients with uncommon EGFR mutations who were treated with first-line EGFR-TKIs.Conclusions: The current study demonstrated that the effect of first-line EGFR-TKIs was similar to that of platinum-based chemotherapy in patients with uncommon EGFR-mutant NSCLC.Adenocarcinoma was the independent predictive factor for PFS in uncommon EGFR-mutant NSCLC patients treated with first-line EGFRTKIs. | Jinpeng Shi Hui Yang Tao Jiang Xuefei Li Chao Zhao Limin Zhang Sha Zhao Xiaozhen Liu Yijun Jia Yan Wang Lei Xi Shijia Zhang Chunxia Su Shengxiang Ren Caicun Zhou | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2017,29,6: | 6 |

Research on atmospheric electricity has been actively conducted since the 1980 s in China. Lightning physics and its effects, as important branches of atmospheric electricity, have received more attention because of their significance both in scientific research and lightning protection applications. | 14 | The 5400 a BP extreme weakening event of the Asian summer monsoon and cultural evolution显示文摘We explored a time series of the Asian summer monsoon(ASM) variability during the transition period from the middle to the late Holocene in the marginal Asian monsoon region. We used an absolutely dated ^(230)Th record with only a ~20-year dating error, and oxygen isotope data with an 8-year average temporal resolution from the top 22-mm segment of stalagmite WXB07-4 from Wanxiang Cave, western Loess Plateau. The ASM intensity weakened gradually from 6420 to 4920 a BP, which was mainly characterized by three phases:(1) a strengthening phase with a higher precipitation amount between 6420 and 6170 a BP;(2) a smooth fluctuating interval during 6170–5700 a BP; and(3) a sudden extreme weakening period from 5700 to 4920 a BP. Interestingly, the extreme weakening interval of the ASM occurred during the period between 5700 and 4920 a BP, an abrupt change dated at 5430 a BP, which is known as the 5400 a BP, or 5.4 ka BP, event. The period included 290 years of gradual weakening, and 350 years of slow strengthening. This was synchronous with some cave records from the Asian monsoon region within dating errors. Comparing with Chinese archaeological archives over the past 7000 years, the early decline of the Yangshao Culture in the Yellow River Basin and the Hongshan Culture in the West Liao River Basin occurred during the period of gradual decrease of ASM precipitation. The dramatic decline in precipitation, caused by the extreme weakening of the ASM at 5400 a BP,may have been partly related to the decline of the Miaodigou Culture at the Yangguanzhai site in the Weihe River valley; the middle Yangshao Culture in western Henan in the Yellow River Basin; the early Dawenkou Culture on the lower reaches of the Yellow River; and the middle Hongshan Culture in the west of the Liaohe River valley. During the later period of the 5400 a BP event(5430–4920 a BP), a small amplitude increase and a subsequent sharp decrease of ASM precipitation may have also been linked to the contemporaneous prosperity and disappearance of the late Yangshao and Hongshan cultures; the disappearance of the late Yangshao Culture represented by the Yangguanzhai site in the Guanzhong basin on the Weihe River; the fourth phase of the late Yangshao Culture on the upstream Dadiwan site; the beginning of the middle Dawenkou Culture, the formation of its late stage,and the rise of the Longshan culture; and the rise of the Qujialing and Liangzhu cultures on the lower Yangtze River. | 15 | Water-induced softening behavior of clay-rich sandstone in Lanzhou Water Supply Project,China显示文摘The strength of clay-rich sandstone decreases significantly when in contact with water due to softening effects.This scenario can pose a severe threat to the stability of water diversion tunnels during construction and operation periods.To address the issues related to water-induced softening in clay-rich sandstone zones in a water diversion tunnel of Lanzhou Water Supply Project,the microscopic and micromechanical variations of rocks due to increasing water content in two different zones i.e.zones A and B,were determined by various testing methods,such as X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),thin section microscopy,micro-indentation test,sonic velocity test,and slake durability test.The microscopic analysis confirms the presence of montmorillonite mineral which is the dominant problematic geomaterial in engineering application.The integrity and durability of clay-rich sandstone were determined with sonic velocity and slake durability tests to calibrate the results obtained by the micro-indentation test.It shows that the elastic modulus and hardness of clay-rich sandstone decrease with the increase of saturation time,up to 144 h,which is more significant and rapid during early stage of saturation.After 144 h of saturation,the elastic modulus decreases by 89% and 97%,and the hardness decreases by 89% and 99% for zones A and B sandstones,respectively.The results of slake durability and sonic velocity indicate that zone A sandsto ne remains 56.19% durability after 144 h of saturation,while zone B sandstone loses its durability merely after 72 h of saturation.The clay-rich sandstone starts to dissolve in water when the saturation time exceeds 144 h.The significant decreases in strength and durability of clay-rich sandstone due to water-induced softening are serious threats to tunnel stability.The improvements in the strength of surrounding rock mass by grouting and permeability by installation of drainage galleries can reduce the damage caused by water-induced softening. | Muhammad Usman Azhar Hui Zhou Fanjie Yang Adnan Younis Xinjing Lu Houguo Fang Yijun Geng | 2020 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2020,12,3: | 3 |
| 16 | Nonlinear photoresponse of metallic graphene-like VSe2 ultrathin nanosheets for pulse laser generation显示文摘Vanadium diselenide(VSe2), a typical metallic behaviour material among transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs) family, exhibits excellent photoelectric characteristics with a zero band gap, missing applicaiotn in pulse generation. In this work, a high-quality VSe2 saturable absorber(SA) was synthesized through a liquid-phase exfoliation method. The saturable absorption of obtained VSe2-SA was characterized systematically. The measured modulation depth was 9.9%, and the saturated intensity was 533.8 μJ/cm2. By incorporating this optical modulator into a ytterbium-doped fiber laser cavity, a stable passively Q-switched laser could be achieved. The pulse had the central wavelength of 1064.03 nm. As the pump power was increased, the repetition rate increased from 24.3 k Hz to 35.6 k Hz, and the pulse duration decreased from7.21 μs to 5.27 μs. The output power had the maximum value of 28.55 m W. | 19 | Oil spill detection on the ocean surface using hybrid polarimetric SAR imagery显示文摘Hybrid-polarimetric SAR(synthetic aperture radar) is a new SAR mode, with relatively simple architecture, low cost, and wide swath, which will be carried by several Earth-observing systems from now to the near future. Here, we show how the second Stokes parameter of hybrid-polarimetric SAR can be employed to detect oil on the ocean surface using the classic well-known Otsu threshold methodology, in relation to contributions from different polarizations and dampening effects on backscatter intensity, neglecting the specific scattering mechanisms and oil types for an oil-covered surface.
