| 1 | The gut microbial metabolite, 3,4-dihydroxyphenylpropionic acid, alleviates hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury via mitigation of macrophage pro-inflammatory activity in mice显示文摘Hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury(HIRI) is a serious complication that occurs following shock and/or liver surgery. Gut microbiota and their metabolites are key upstream modulators of development of liver injury. Herein, we investigated the potential contribution of gut microbes to HIRI.Ischemia/reperfusion surgery was performed to establish a murine model of HIRI. 16 S r RNA gene sequencing and metabolomics were used for microbial analysis. Transcriptomics and proteomics analysis were employed to study the host cell responses. Our results establish HIRI was significantly increased when surgery occurred in the evening(ZT12, 20:00) when compared with the morning(ZT0, 08:00);however, antibiotic pretreatment reduced this diurnal variation. The abundance of a microbial metabolite3,4-dihydroxyphenylpropionic acid was significantly higher in ZT0 when compared with ZT12 in the gut and this compound significantly protected mice against HIRI. Furthermore, 3,4-dihydroxyphenylpropionic acid suppressed the macrophage pro-inflammatory response in vivo and in vitro. This metabolite inhibits histone deacetylase activity by reducing its phosphorylation. Histone deacetylase inhibition suppressed macrophage pro-inflammatory activation and diminished the diurnal variation of HIRI. Our findings revealed a novel protective microbial metabolite against HIRI in mice. | 2 | Carbon-based derivatives from metal-organic frameworks as cathode hosts for Li–S batteries显示文摘Lithium-sulfur batteries(Li–S batteries) are promising candidates for the next generation high-energy rechargeable Li batteries due to their high theoretical specific capacity(1672 m Ahg-1) and energy density(2500 Wh kg-1). The commercialization of Li–S batteries is impeded by several key challenges at cathode side, e.g. the insulating nature of sulfur and discharged products(Li2S 2 and Li2S), the solubility of long-chain polysulfides and volume variation of sulfur cathode upon cycling. Recently, the carbonbased derivatives from metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) has emerged talent in their utilization as cathode hosts for Li–S batteries. They are not only highly conductive and porous to enable the acceleration of Li +/e-transfer and accommodation of volumetric expansion of sulfur cathode during cycling, but also enriched by controllable chemical active sites to enable the adsorption of polysulfides and promotion of their conversion reaction kinetics. | 3 | Transcriptomic analyses identify albino-associated genes of a novel albino tea germplasm ‘Huabai 1’显示文摘Albinism in shoots of tea plants is a common phenotypic expression which gives the tea infusion a pleasant umami taste.A novel natural albino mutant tea germplasm containing high amino acids content was found and named as‘Huabai 1’.‘Huabai 1’has white jade tender shoots under low temperature and turns green with increased temperature.In order to understand the molecular mechanism of color change in leaf of‘Huabai 1’,transcriptome analysis was performed to identify albino-associated differentially expressed genes(DEGs).A total of 483 DEGs were identified from white shoots of‘Huabai 1’compared to its green shoots.There were 15 DEGs identified to be involved in phenylpropanoid biosynthesis,which account for the majority of characterized DEGs.The metabolites related to phenylpropanoid biosynthesis revealed similar expression pattern of DEGs.Furthermore,metabolic pathways such as ubiquonone,tyrosine,and flavonoid biosynthesis associated with phenylpropanoid biosynthesis could also contribute to the color change in‘Huabai 1’tender shoots.Protein–protein interaction analysis revealed a hub protein NEDD8(CSA009575)which interacted with many regulated genes in spliceosome,nitrogen metabolism,phenylpropanoid biosynthesis,and other pathways.In conclusion,the findings in this study indicate that the color change of‘Huabai 1’tender shoots is a combined effect of phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway and other metabolic pathways including flavonoid biosynthesis in tea plants.Chlorophyll biosynthesis-related genes LHCII and SGR may also play some roles in color change of‘Huabai 1’. | Qingping Ma Huan Li Zhongwei Zou Emmanuel Arkorful Qianru Lv Qiongqiong Zhou Xuan Chen Kang Sun Xinghui Li | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 7 |

| 5 | Free-volume evolution of glassy Zr_(65)Al_(7.5)Ni_(10)Cu_(17.5) during inhomogeneous deformation显示文摘Free-volume evolutions of the as-cast and pre-annealed Zr65Al7.5Ni10Cu17.5 metallic glasses during cold-rolling were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry. As deformation degree increases, free volume in the glasses always increases first and then saturates above a critical strain, while the structure remains completely amorphous. The glass with less initial free volume possesses a higher increase rate of free-volume content during deformation, and as a result the free-volume contents of all the glasses approach each other at higher strains. | 6 | Microstructure of Cu_(60)Zr_(20)Ti_(20) bulk metallic glass rolled at different strain rates显示文摘The structural evolution of Cu60Zr20Ti20 bulk metallic glass during rolling at different strain rates and cryogenic temperature was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD),differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). It is revealed that the deformation-induced transformation is strongly dependent on the strain rate. At the lowest experimental strain rate of 1.0×10-4 s-1,no phase transformation occurs until the highest deformation degree reaches 95%. In a strain rate range of 5.0×10-4-5.0×10-2 s-1,phase separation oc-curs in a high deformation degree. As the strain rate reaches 5.0×10-1 s-1,phase separation and nanocrystallization concur. | 7 | Alteration of P2X3 expression in dorsal root ganglia after sciatic nerve ligation显示文摘BACKGROUND:The expressions of P2X3 receptor in dorsal root ganglia(DRG)after different peripheral nerve injuries are diverse.It indicates the different roles of P2X3 in different models-caused neuropathologic pains.OBJECTIVE:To observe the expressions of P2X3 in corresponding DRG after sciatic nerve ligation in rats.DESIGN:Controlled observation experiment.SETTING:Department of Morphology,Hunan Traditional Chinese Medical College;Department of Human Anatomy and Neurobiology,Xiangya Medical College,Central South University.MATERIALS:Thirty-five healthy adult SD rats of clean grade an d either gender,weighing(200±20)g,were involved.According to the random digits table,the involved rats were randomized into 3 groups:normal group(n =5),sham-operated group(n =5)and experimental group(n =25).The experimental group were subdivided into 3,7,14,21,28 days groups according to different surviving time after operation,5 rats at each time point.Polyclonal rabbit anti-P2X3 antibody(ABCAM company);biotinylated goat anti-rabbit IgG(Zhongshanjingqiao Biotechnical Co.,Ltd.,Beijing);Motic fluorescence microscope(Motic,Germany).METHODS:The experiments were carried out in the Department of Human Anatomy and Neurobiology,Xiangya Medical College,Central South University from June to December 2006.① Rats of experimental group were created into models by ligation of right sciatic nerve according to the method of Seltzer et al.Left sciatic nerve was used as self-control.As for rats in the sham-operated group,ligation of sciatic nerve was omitted,but other procedures were the same as those in the experimental group.Rats of normal group were untouched.② Rats of the normal group and sham-operated group survived for 14 days separately,and those of experimental group survived for corresponding time.After being deeply anesthetized by intraperitoneal injection of over-dose sodium pentobarbital,the rats of experimental group were transcardially perfused.L4-6 corresponding DRG connected to sciatic nerve were taken for preparing transverse sections serially.③P2X3 expression in L4-6 DRG was detected by immunohistochemistry,immunofluorescence and image analysis techniques.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:P2X3 expression in L4-6 DRG of rats in each group.RESULTS:Thirty-five SD rats were involved in the final analysis.① P2X3 expression in DRG:In normal DRG of rats,there were abundant P2X3 immuno-positive small-and medium-sized primary sensory neurons,especially the small ones,which mostly received the input from C fibers.There were only a few large neurons expressing P2X3.The immuno-positive products mostly were located in the cytoplasm and processes.The expression of P2X3 had a slight but significant decrease in ipsilateral L4-6 DRG 3 days after sciatic nerve ligation,and a decreasing tendency was observed with the elongation of time.At 28 days,the expression had not returned to base line,and still maintained at a low level.② P2X3 immuno-positive gray scale in DRG:P2X3 immuno-positive gray scale in ipsilateral side L4-6 DRG was 117.74±2.38,129.12± 4.86,133.56±3.79,148.75±6.90 and 150.49±5.15,respectively at 3,7,14,21 and 28 days after sciatic nerve ligation,which was significantly higher than that in the normal group and sham-operated group(105.11±3.52,104.22±5.41,F =78.861,P < 0.05),also significantly higher than that in the contralateral side(105.53±5.85,108.54±3.70,104.07±4.16,106.55±2.02,106.29±5.19,t =3.48-13.95,P < 0.05);There were no significant differences when comparing sham-operated group or contralateral side at each time point with normal group(P > 0.05)CONCLUSION:P2X3 is significantly down regulated in L4-6 DRG after sciatic nerve ligation.It may exert certain effects in neuropathic pain. | Guoxing Zhou Lesi Xie Qiben Wang Qingping Yu Xiaofu Liu Qiumei Liu Wei Peng Zhicheng Zeng | 2007 | Neural Regeneration Research2007,2,4: | 3 |
| 8 | The Response of Vegetation Biomass to Soil Properties along Degradation Gradients of Alpine Meadow at Zoige Plateau显示文摘Alpine grassland of the Tibetan Plateau has undergone severe degradation, even desertification. However, several questions remain to be answered, especially the response mechanisms of vegetation biomass to soil properties. In this study, an experiment on degradation gradients was conducted in an alpine meadow at the Zoige Plateau in 2017. Both vegetation characteristics and soil properties were observed during the peak season of plant growth. The classification and regression tree model(CART) and structural equation modelling(SEM) were applied to screen the main factors that govern the vegetation dynamics and explore the interaction of these screened factors. Both aboveground biomass(AGB) and belowground biomass(BGB) experienced a remarkable decrease along the degradation gradients. All soil properties experienced significant variations along the degradation gradients at the 0.05 significance level. Soil physical and chemical properties explained 54.78% of the variation in vegetation biomass along the degradation gradients. AGB was mainly influenced by soil water content(SWC), soil bulk density(SBD), soil organic carbon(SOC), soil total nitrogen(STN), and pH. Soil available nitrogen(SAN), SOC and p H, had significant influence on BGB. Most soil properties had positive effects on AGB and BGB, while SBD and p H had a slightly negative effect on AGB and BGB. The correlations of SWC with AGB and BGB were relatively less significant than those of other soil properties. Our results highlighted that the soil properties played important roles in regulating vegetation dynamics along the degradation gradients and that SWC is not the main factor limiting plant growth in the humid Zoige region. | 17 | Creep-Fatigue Interaction in an Fe-25Ni-15Cr Based Alloy显示文摘The interaction between high temperature creep and low cycle fatigue in an Fe-25Ni-15Cr basedalloy GH132 has been studied under three different loading schedules: (a) continuous cycliccreep, (b) prior creep followed by fatigue, and (c) prior fatigue followed by creep. It is found thatthe interaction appears nearly linear for all the three schedules. The behaviour of interactionin GH132 alloy is different from that previously observed in a GH30 alloy (Nimonic 75 type),in which although the interaction at schedules (a) and (c) was linear, a pronounced negativeinteraction occurred at the schedule (b), i.e., prior creep followed by fatigue. This differenceis found to be associated with the difference in the evolution of microstructure. | 19 | Fundamental characteristics of gas hydrate-bearing sediments in the Shenhu area, South China Sea显示文摘The basic physical properties of marine natural gas hydrate deposits are important to the understanding of seabed growth conditions, occurrence regularity, and occurrence environment of natural gas hydrates. A comprehensive analysis of the core samples of drilling pressure-holding hydrate deposits at a depth of 1310 m in the Shenhu area of the South China Sea was conducted. The experimental results indicate that the particle size in the hydrate sediment samples are mainly distributed in the range from 7.81 µm to 21.72 µm, and the average particle size decreases as the depth of the burial increases. The X-ray CT analytical images and surface characteristics SEM scan images suggest that the sediment is mostly silty clay.
