| 1 | Simulation and Improvements of Oceanic Circulation and Sea Ice by the Coupled Climate System Model FGOALS-f3-L显示文摘This study documents simulated oceanic circulations and sea ice by the coupled climate system model FGOALS-f3-L developed at the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics,Institute of Atmospheric Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,under historical forcing from phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6).FGOALS-f3-L reproduces the fundamental features of global oceanic circulations,such as sea surface temperature(SST),sea surface salinity(SSS),mixed layer depth(MLD),vertical temperature and salinity,and meridional overturning circulations.There are notable improvements compared with the previous version,FGOALS-s2,such as a reduction in warm SST biases near the western and eastern boundaries of oceans and salty SSS biases in the tropical western Atlantic and eastern boundaries,and a mitigation of deep MLD biases at high latitudes.However,several obvious biases remain.The most significant biases include cold SST biases in the northwestern Pacific(over 4°C),freshwater SSS biases and deep MLD biases in the subtropics,and temperature and salinity biases in deep ocean at high latitudes.The simulated sea ice shows a reasonable distribution but stronger seasonal cycle than observed.The spatial patterns of sea ice are more realistic in FGOALS-f3-L than its previous version because the latitude–longitude grid is replaced with a tripolar grid in the ocean and sea ice model.The most significant biases are the overestimated sea ice and underestimated SSS in the Labrador Sea and Barents Sea,which are related to the shallower MLD and weaker vertical mixing. | Yuyang GUO Yongqiang YU Pengfei LIN Hailong LIU Bian HE Qing BAO Bo AN Shuwen ZHAO and Lijuan HUA | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,10: | 3 |
| 2 | Development of a new high resolution waveform migration location method and its applications to induced seismicity显示文摘Locating seismic events is a central task for earthquake monitoring.Compared to arrival-based location methods,waveformbased location methods do not require picking phase arrivals and are more suitable for locating seismic events with noisy waveforms.Among waveform-based location methods,one approach is to stack different attributes of P and S waveforms around arrival times corresponding to potential event locations and origin times,and the maximum stacking values are assumed to indicate the correct event location and origin time.In this study,to obtain a high-resolution location image,we improve the waveform-based location method by applying a hybrid multiplicative imaging condition to characteristic functions of seismic waveforms.In our new stacking method,stations are divided into groups;characteristic functions of seismic waveforms recorded at stations in the same group are summed,and then multiplied among groups.We find that this approach can largely eliminate the cumulative effects of noise in the summation process and thus improve the resolution of location images.We test the new method and compare it to three other stacking methods,using both synthetic and real datasets that are related to induced seismicity occurring in petroleum/gas production.The test results confirm that the new stacking method can provide higher-resolution location images than those derived from currently used methods. | SiYu Miao HaiJiang Zhang YuYang Tan Ye Lin | 2021 | Earth and Planetary Physics2021,5,6: | 3 |

| 8 | Structural evolution of layered oxide cathodes for spent Li-ion batteries:Degradation mechanism and repair strategy显示文摘Sustainable development has long been recognized as one of the most critical issues in today’s energy and environment-conscious society.It has never been more urgent to recycle and reuse the end-of-life cathode materials.Here,this work systematically investigates the structure-critical degradation mechanism of polycrystalline LiNi_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(1−x−y)O_(2)(NCM),combining experimental characterization and DFT simulations.Targeting the key degradation factors,a synergistic repair strategy based on deep mechanochemical activation and heat treatment was successfully proposed to direct regenerate the degradedNCMmaterial.Studies indicate the induction and promotion of synergistic repair technique on the reconstruction of particlemorphology,the recovery of the chemical composition and crystal structure,and the favorable transformation of the impurities phase in the failed materials.In particular,the synergistic repair process induces a gradient distribution of LiF and further enables partial fluorine doping into the NCM surface,forming abundant oxygen vacancies and increasing the content of highly reactive Ni2+.Benefiting from the comprehensive treatment for the multi-scale and multi-form degradation behaviors,the repaired material exhibits a capacity of 176.8 mA h g^(-1)at 0.1 C,which is comparable to the corresponding commercial material(172.8 mA h g^(-1)).The satisfactory capacity of the recovered cathode proves that it is an effective direct renovating strategy. | Shan Jin Jianquan Liang Deying Mu Tianning Lin Yuyang Tian Jian Zhang YueWang Meng Chen Qingmo Shi Changsong Dai | 2023 | SusMat2023,3,3: | 1 |
| 9 | Overview of the CMIP6 Historical Experiment Datasets with the Climate System Model CAS FGOALS-f3-L显示文摘The three-member historical simulations by the Chinese Academy of Sciences Flexible Global Ocean–Atmosphere–Land System model,version f3-L(CAS FGOALS-f3-L),which is contributing to phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6),are described in this study.The details of the CAS FGOALS-f3-L model,experiment settings and output datasets are briefly introduced.The datasets include monthly and daily outputs from the atmospheric,oceanic,land and sea-ice component models of CAS FGOALS-f3-L,and all these data have been published online in the Earth System Grid Federation(ESGF,http://gffzzcb5b41580d7f4a25spo6n90npukxc6up5.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/projects/cmip6/).The three ensembles are initialized from the 600th,650th and 700th model year of the preindustrial experiment(piControl)and forced by the same historical forcing provided by CMIP6 from 1850 to 2014.The performance of the coupled model is validated in comparison with some recent observed atmospheric and oceanic datasets.It is shown that CAS FGOALS-f3-L is able to reproduce the main features of the modern climate,including the climatology of air surface temperature and precipitation,the long-term changes in global mean surface air temperature,ocean heat content and sea surface steric height,and the horizontal and vertical distribution of temperature in the ocean and atmosphere.Meanwhile,like other state-of-the-art coupled GCMs,there are still some obvious biases in the historical simulations,which are also illustrated.This paper can help users to better understand the advantages and biases of the model and the datasets。 | Yuyang GUO Yongqiang YU Pengfei LIN Hailong LIU Bian HE Qing BAO Shuwen ZHAO and Xiaowei WANG | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,10: | 1 |

| 14 | Construction of cobalt vacancies in cobalt telluride to induce fast ionic/electronic diffusion kinetics for lithium-ion half/full batteries显示文摘Designing novel electrode materials with unique structures is of great significance for improving the performance of lithium ion batteries(LIBs).Herein,copper-doped Co_(1-x)Te@nitrogen-doped carbon hollow nanoboxes(Cu-Co_(1-x)Te@NC HNBs)have been fabricated by chemical etching of Cu Co-ZIF nanoboxes,followed by a successive high-temperature tellurization process.The as-synthesized Cu-Co_(1-x)Te@NC HNBs composite demonstrated faster ionic and electronic diffusion kinetics than the pristine Co Te@NC HNBs electrode.The existence of Co-vacancy promotes the reduction of Gibbs free energy change(ΔG_(H^(*)))and effectively improves the Li~+diffusion coefficient.XPS and theoretical calculations show that performance improvement is ascribed to the electronic interactions between Cu-Co_(1-x)Te and nitrogen-doped carbon(NC)that trigger the shift of the p-band towards facilitation of interfacial charge transfer,which in turn helps boost up the lithium storage property.Besides,the proposed Cu-doping-induced Co-vacancy strategy can also be extended to other conversion-type cobalt-based material(CoSe_(2))in addition to asobtained Cu-Co_(1-x)Se_(2)@NC HNBs anodes for long-life and high-capacity LIBs.More importantly,the fabricated LiCoO_(2)//Cu-Co_(1-x)Te@NC HNBs full cell exhibits a high energy density of 403 Wh kg^(-1)and a power density of 6000 W kg^(-1).We show that the energy/power density reported herein is higher than that of previously studied cobalt-based anodes,indicating the potential application of Cu-Co_(1-x)Te@NC HNBs as a superior electrode material for LIBs. | Lei Hu Lin Li Yuyang Zhang Xiaohong Tan Hao Yang Xiaoming Lin Yexiang Tong | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,32: | 0 |
| 15 | Datasets for the CMIP6 Scenario Model Intercomparison Project (ScenarioMIP) Simulations with the Coupled Model CAS FGOALS-f3-L显示文摘The datasets for the tier-1 Scenario Model Intercomparison Project(ScenarioMIP)experiments from the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System model,finite-volume version 3(CAS FGOALS-f3-L)are described in this study.ScenarioMIP is one of the core MIP experiments in phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6).Considering future CO2,CH4,N2O and other gases’concentrations,as well as land use,the design of ScenarioMIP involves eight pathways,including two tiers(tier-1 and tier-2)of priority.Tier-1 includes four combined Shared Socioeconomic Pathways(SSPs)with radiative forcing,i.e.,SSP1-2.6,SSP2-4.5,SSP3-7.0 and SSP5-8.5,in which the globally averaged radiative forcing at the top of the atmosphere around the year 2100 is approximately 2.6,4.5,7.0 and 8.5 W m−2,respectively.This study provides an introduction to the ScenarioMIP datasets of this model,such as their storage location,sizes,variables,etc.Preliminary analysis indicates that surface air temperatures will increase by about 1.89℃,3.07℃,4.06℃ and 5.17℃ by around 2100 under these four scenarios,respectively.Meanwhile,some other key climate variables,such as sea-ice extension,precipitation,heat content,and sea level rise,also show significant long-term trends associated with the radiative forcing increases.These datasets will help us understand how the climate will change under different anthropogenic and radiative forcings. | Shuwen ZHAO Yongqiang YU Pengfei LIN Hailong LIU Bian HE Qing BAO Yuyang GUO Lijuan HUA Kangjun CHEN Xiaowei WANG | 2021 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,2: | 0 |

| 20 | Rethink Left-Behind Experience: New Categories and Its Relationship with Aggression显示文摘Left-behind experience refers to the experience of children staying behind in their hometown under the care of only one parent or their relatives while one or both of their parents leave to work in other places.College students with left-behind experience showed higher aggression levels.To further explore the relationship between left-behind experience and aggression,the current study categorized left-behind experience using latent class analysis and explored its relationship with aggression.One thousand twenty-eight Chinese college students with left-behind experience were recruited,and their aggression levels were assessed.The results showed that there were four categories of left-behind experience:“starting from preschool,frequent contact”(35.5%),“less than 10 years in duration,limited contact”(27.0%),“starting from preschool,over 10 years in duration,limited contact”(10.9%),and“starting from school age,frequent contact”(26.6%).Overall,college students who reported frequent contact with their parents during the left-behind period showed lower levels of aggression than others did.Females were less aggressive than males in the“starting from preschool,frequent contact”left-behind situation,while males were less aggressive than females in the“starting from school age,frequent contact”situation.Thesefindings indicate that frequent contact with leaving parents contributes to decreasing aggression of college students with left-behind experience.Meanwhile,gender is an important factor in this relationship. | Chunyang Zhang Yijun Lin Yuyang Zhou Wei Xu | 2021 | International Journal of Mental Health Promotion2021,23,4: | 0 |
