Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soils of Beijing and Tianjin region: Vertical distribution, correlation with TOC and transport mechanism显示文摘The contents and distribution of 20 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (HAHs) were investigated in 16 soil profiles of Beijing and Tianjin region. Transport of high molecular weight PAHs (HMWPAHs) and the correlation between total organic carbon (TOC) and their concentrations were also discussed. The results indicated that highly contaminated sites were located at urban or wastewater irrigation areas and pollutants mainly accumulated in topsoil (< 40 cm), with a sharp content decrease at the vertical boundary of 30-40 cm. Total PAHs/HAHs concentrations in soils from Tianjin were markedly greater than those from Beijing. Even the contents at bottoms of soil profiles in Tianjin were higher than those in topsoils of Beijing soil profile. HMWPAHs dominated the PAH profiles, exhibiting a uniform distribution of pyrogenic origin between topsoils and deep layers. Furthermore, the percentages of HMWPAHs remained relative constant with the depth of soil profiles, which were consistent with the distribution of particulate matter-associated PAHs in the local atmospheric environments. Therefore, HMWPAHs transport with particulates might be the predominant source found in soil profiles. | HE Fengpeng ZHANG Zhihuan WAN Yunyang LU Song WANG Liang BU Qingwei | 2009 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,5: | 34
Correlation of N-myc downstream-regulated gene 1 overexpression with progressive growth of colorectal neoplasm显示文摘AIM:To study the function of N-myc downstream-regulated gene 1 (NDRG1) in colorectal carcinogenesis and its correlation with tumor lymph node metastasis,METHODS:NDRG1 was detected at its protein level by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and image analysis (IA), and NDRG1 mRNA was detected by in situ hybridization (ISH) in formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded sections with a total of 190 specimens including 38 normal colorectal mucosae, 31 colorectal adenomas, 45 non-metastatic colorectal carcinomas (CRCs), 38 metastatic primary CRC and subsequently regional lymph nodes respectively. At the same time, the correlations of NDRG1 with sex, age of patients and histological types of colorectal carcinomas were observed.RESULTS: NDRG1 proteins were gradually increased in colorectal carcinogenesis (P<0.05 or P<0.01). There was a significant difference in the expression of NDRG1 between non-metastatic and metastatic CRCs (P<0.05), and the correlation was positive (P<0.01, rs=0.329). However, there was no obvious difference in the expression of NDRG1 between the primary sites of CRCs and that in the metastatic sites of corresponding regional lymph nodes, nor was there an apparent difference in sex, age, and histological types. The expression of NDRG1 mRNA was generally in concordance with that of NDRG1 protein.CONCLUSION: NDRG1 gene may play an important role in colorectal carcinogenesis. In addition, NDRG1 may be a putative tumor metastasis promoter gene and is regarded as one of the molecular biological markers that can forecast early metastasis of CRCs. NDRG1 gene in the metastatic sites of regional lymph nodes may preserve its expression characteristics in the primary sites of CRCs to some extent. The expression of NDRG1 is not affected by sex, age and histological types. The role of NDRG1 in tumor metastatic process can be demonstrated by in vivo and in vitro. | ZhenWang FangWang wei-QiWang QianGao Wan-LiWei YunYang Guo-YingWang | 2004 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2004,10,4: | 33
Status quo of soil petroleum contamination and evolution of bioremediation显示文摘Along with the rapid development of oil industries internationally, petroleum prospecting and exploitation activities are growing intensively.Especially in China, with the fastest economic growth in the world and shortage of petroleum resources,we are leading the practices of petroleum deep exploitation.Obviously, the risk of damage to the natural environment from these activities is high.Oil contamination in soils and groundwater is becoming a big issue along with pesticide pollution, which makes organic pollution prevention and control (OPPC) much more complex. In this paper, based on recent research on oil-contaminated soil at home and abroad,we make comments on the remediation technologies for polluted soil, emphasizing bioremediation techniques and degradation mechanisms in order to push forward research into bound organic pollution prevention and control (OPPC),especially in China. | Du Weidong Wan Yunyang Zhong Ningning Fei Jiajia ZhangZhihuan Chen Lijun Hao Jiming | 2011 | Petroleum Science2011,8,4: | 19
Restoration of electrical microenvironment enhances bone regeneration under diabetic conditions by modulating macrophage polarization显示文摘Macrophage-mediated inflammation compromises bone repair in diabetic patients.Electrical signaling cues are known to regulate macrophage functions. However, the biological effects of electrical microenvironment from charged biomaterials on the immune response for regulating osteogenesis under diabetic conditions remain to be elucidated.Herein the endogeneous electrical microenvironment of native bone tissue was recapitulated by fabricating a ferroelectric BaTiO_(3)/poly(vinylidene fluoridetrifluoroethylene)(BTO/P(VDF-TrFE))nanocomposite membrane. In vitro, the polarized BaTiO_(3)/poly(vinylidene fluoridetrifluoroethylene)(BTO/P(VDF-TrFE))nanocomposite membranes inhibited high glucose-induced M1-type inflammation,by effecting changes in cell morphology,M1 marker expression and pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion in macrophages. This led to enhanced osteogenic differentiation of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BM-MSCs).In vivo, the biomimetic electrical microenvironment recapitulated by the polarized nanocomposite membranes switched macrophage phenotype from the pro-inflammatory(M1)into the pro-healing(M2)phenotype,which in turn enhanced bone regeneration in rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Mechanistic studies revealed that the biomimetic electrical microenvironment attenuated pro-inflammatory M1 macrophage polarization under hyperglycemic conditions by suppressing expression of AKT2 and IRF5 within the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, thereby inducing favorable osteo-immunomodulatory effects. Our study thus provides fundamental insights into the biological effects of restoring the electrical microenvironment conducive for osteogenesis under DM conditions, and offers an effective strategy to design functionalized biomaterials for bone regeneration therapy in diabetic patients. | Xiaohan Dai Boon Chin Heng Yunyang Bai Fuping You Xiaowen Sun Yiping Li Zhangui Tang Mingming Xu Xuehui Zhang Xuliang Deng | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,7: | 9
Precise fabrication of single-atom alloy co-catalyst with optimal charge state for enhanced photocatalysis显示文摘While the surface charge state of co-catalysts plays a critical role for boosting photocatalysis, studies on surface charge regulation via their precise structure control remain extremely rare.Herein,metal-organic framework(MOF)stabilized bimetallic Pd@Pt nanoparticles, which feature adjustable Pt coordination environment and a controlled structure from core-shell to single-atom alloy(SAA),have been fabricated.Significantly, apart from the formation of a Mott-Schottky junction in a conventional way,we elucidate that Pt surface charge regulation can be alternatively achieved by changing its coordination environment and the structure of the Pd@Pt co-catalyst,where the charge between Pd and Pt is redistributed. As a result, the optimized Pd10@Pt1/MOF composite, which involves an unprecedented SAA co-catalyst,exhibits exceptionally high photocatalytic hydrogen production activity, far surpassing its corresponding counterparts. | Yating Pan Yunyang Qian Xusheng Zheng Sheng-Qi Chu Yijun Yang Chunmei Ding Xi Wang Shu-Hong Yu Hai-Long Jiang | 2021 | National Science Review2021,8,1: | 4
Improved Model Predictive Direct Power Control of Grid Side Converter in Weak Grid Using Kalman Filter and DSOGI显示文摘When grid side converter(GSC)is connected to weak grid, the small signal instability can happen due to terminal characteristics of the GSC that are incompatible with the grid impedance. This issue is not of wide concern in previous studies of direct power control(DPC)of GSC.By small signal analysis,it is shown that the impedance characteristic of the conventional direct power control GSC is not compatible with the inductive grid impedance in weak grid due to its constant power load behavior. To solve the problem, instead of feeding the DPC controller with direct measured voltage and current,a Kalman filter(KF)is used to obtain filtered output current and a double second-order generalized integrator(DSOGI)is used to obtain filtered voltage at the point of common coupling(PCC).These strategies change the impedance characteristic of the GSC dramatically and make it suitable to operate in weak grid where SCR is 2,while the rapid power response is preserved. The proposed strategy is verified through simulation and controller hardware in loop(CHIL)tests. | Liang Chen Heng Nian Yunyang Xu | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Electrical Engineering2019,5,4: | 4

Determination of HCH and DDT in soils following Wenchuan 5.12 Violent Earthquake in China显示文摘A large number of disinfectants and insecticides were used on a large scale after the Wenchuan 5.12 Violent Earthquake. The disinfectants and insecticides, including HCH (hexachlorocyclohexane) and DDT (dichlorodiphenyltrichoroethane) as representative OCPs, could lead to serious environmental problems. In order to disclose the residues of HCH and DDT in soils following the Wenchuan 5.12 Violent Earthquake, surface soils in Dujiangyan City and Beichuan County were sampled in 2009. The samples were analyzed by GC/MS after pre- treatment by ultrasonic solvent extraction. It has been found that the concentra-tions of γ-HCH, β-HCH and 4,4'-DDT in soils of Beichuan County were 94–102.4, 14.1–36.1 and 2.9–4.3 times high their concentrations in those of the Wolong Nature Reserve, and the concentrations in soils of Dujiangyan City were 52.4–61.6, 8.8 –45.3 and 5.4–6.2 times high their concentrations in soils of the Wolong Nature Reserve, respectively. According to the isomers of HCHs and metabolites of DDTs, it could be concluded that these areas may have additional inputs of lindane and 4,4'-DDT. | CUI Weiwei ZHANG Qiangbin ZHU Xianlei WAN Yunyang ZHANG Zhihuan FAN Zhihua WANG Tieguan | 2011 | Chinese Journal Of Geochemistry2011,30,1: | 2
Influence of mild hypothermia on vascular endothelial growth factor and infarct volume in brain tissues after cerebral ischemia in rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: It has been demonstrated that mild hypothermia has obvious protective effect on both whole and local cerebral ischemia. However, the definite mechanism is still unclear for the brain protection of mild hypothermia on cerebral edema, inhibiting inflammatory reaction, stabilizing blood brain barrier, etc. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of mild hypothermia on the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and the infarct volume after cerebral ischemia in rats, and analyze the brain protective mechanism of mild hypothermia. DESIGN: A randomized grouping and controlled animal trial. SETTING: Department of Neurology, People's Hospital of Yunyang Medical College. MATERIALS: Twenty adult male SD rats of clean degree, weighing (250±30) g, were provided by the animal experimental center, School of Medicine, Wuhan University. The kits for SP immunohistochemistry were purchased from Beijing Zhongshan Golden Bridge Biotechnology Co., Ltd. METHODS: The experiments were carried out in the laboratory of Department of Neurology, Renmen Hospital of Wuhan University from May to July 2005. ① The 20 rats were divided randomly into normal temperature group (n =10) and mild hypothermia group (n =10). Models of permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion were established with modified nylon suture embolization. The rats were assessed with the Longa standards: 0 point for without nerve dysfunction; 1 for mild neurological deficit (fore claws could no extend completely); 2 for moderate neurological deficit (circling towards the affected side); 3 for severe neurological deficit (tilting towards the affected side); 4 for coma and unconscious; 1-3 points represented that models were successfully established. The rats of the normal temperature group were fed at room temperature, and those in the mild hypothermia group were induced by hypothermia from 2 hours postoperatively, and the rectal temperature was kept at 34-35 ℃ for 72 hours. ② Measurement of infarct volume: All the rats were anesthetized by intraperitoneal injection overdose sodium pentobarbital 7 days postoperatively, and then the heads were cut down to harvest brain. The brain tissues were placed into -20 ℃ refrigerator for 20 minutes, coronal sections of 2 mm were prepared. The infarct sites were not stained, whereas normal brain tissues were stained as red. The infarct volumes were calculated by using MPLAS-500 multimedia color pathological image&word analytical system. ③ Counting positive cells of vascular endothelial growth factor protein: The brains were harvested by cutting heads, then coronal sections of 2 mm were prepared. Routine dehydration, hyalinization, wax immersion and embedding were performed, then the detected with SP immunohistochemistry, the kits were purchased from Beijing Zhongshan Golden Bridge Biotechnology Co., Ltd. The cells whose cytoplasm was yellow-brown were positive ones, a single sample as a unit, peri-ischemic site and ischemic core were selected, and the corresponding sites in controlateral hemisphere were taken as controls. Five visual fields were selected from each site to be observed under microscope, the cells were counted, and the average number of positive cells was calculated in each group. The numbers of positive cells were determined with the image analytical apparatus. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Number of the positive cells of vascular endothelial growth factor protein; Infarct volume of rat brain tissue. RESULTS: All the 20 rats were involved in the analysis of results. ① Number of positive cells of vascular endothelial growth factor protein in brain tissue: It was obviously lower in the mild hypothermia group than in the normal temperature group [(24.02±5.05), (36.07±2.69) cells/high power visual field, P < 0.01]. ② Comparison of infarct volume of brain tissue: After MCAO, it was obviously smaller in the mild hypothermia group than in the normal temperature group [(153.25±23.14), (253.45±36.21) mm3, P < 0.01]. CONCLUSION: Mild hypothermia can inhibit the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor and decrease the volume of cerebral infarction. The inhibition of mild hypothermia on the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor may be one of the brain protective mechanisms. | Fei Ye1, Gangming Xi1, Biyong Qin1, Shifeng Wang1, Chengyan Li2 1Department of Neurology, People’s Hospital of Yunyang Medical College, Shiyan 442000, Hubei Province, China 2Department of Neurology, Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University, Wuhan 430060, Hubei Province, China | 2006 | Neural Regeneration Research2006,1,9: | 2
Evaluating the energy impact potential of energy efficiency measures for retrofit applications:A case study with U.S.medium office buildings显示文摘Quantifying the energy savings of various energy efficiency measures(EEMs)for an energy retrofit project often necessitates an energy audit and detailed whole building energy modeling to evaluate the EEMs;however, this is often cost-prohibitive for small and medium buildings. In order to provide a defined guideline for projects with assumed common baseline characteristics, this paper applies a sensitivity analysis method to evaluate the impact of individual EEMs and groups these into packages to produce deep energy savings for a sample prototype medium office building across 15 climate zones in the United States. We start with one baseline model for each climate zone and nine candidate EEMs with a range of efficiency levels for each EEM.Three energy performance indicators(EPIs)are defined, which are annual electricity use intensity, annual natural gas use intensity, and annual energy cost. Then,a Standard Regression Coefficient(SRC)sensitivity analysis method is applied to determine the sensitivity of each EEM with respect to the three EPIs,and the relative sensitivity of all EEMs are calculated to evaluate their energy impacts. For the selected range of efficiency levels, the results indicate that the EEMs with higher energy impacts(i.e.,higher sensitivity)in most climate zones are high-performance windows, reduced interior lighting power, and reduced interior plug and process loads. However, the sensitivity of the EEMs also vary by climate zone and EPI;for example, improved opaque envelope insulation and efficiency of cooling and heating systems are found to have a high energy impact in cold and hot climates. | Yunyang Ye Kathryn Hinkelman Yingli Lou Wangda Zuo Gang Wang Jian Zhang | 2021 | Building Simulation2021,14,5: | 2
Li4-xSbxSn1-xS4 solid solutions for air-stable solid electrolytes显示文摘The sulfide solid electrolytes have the characteristics of high ionic conductivity and low grain boundary resistance, which make them suitable for bulk-type all-solid-state batteries. However, most of them suffer from poor stability in air. Here, we explore the air stable sulfide solid electrolytes in Li4-xSbxSn1-xS4 system. The solid solutions of Li4-xSbxSn1-xS4(0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5) can be formed in Li4-xSbxSn1-xS4 system. Li3.8 Sb0.2 Sn0.8 S4 achieves the highest ionic conductivity of 3.5 × 10-4 S cm-1 in this system, which is 5 times as that of Li4 Sn S4 and 3 orders of magnitude higher than that of Li3 Sb S4, respectively. Li3.8 Sb0.2 Sn0.8 S4 crystallizes into the same structure with high ionic conductivity phase of β-Li3 PS4. Moreover, Li3.8 Sb0.2 Sn0.8 S4 owns good stability in humid air. Matching with LiCoO2 and Li4 Ti5 O12,Li3.8 Sb0.2 Sn0.8 S4 exhibits the potential to be applied in all-solid-state batteries. | Zhuoran Zhang Jianxing Zhang Yulong Sun Huanhuan Jia Linfeng Peng Yunyang Zhang Jia Xie | 2020 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,2: | 2
Daily power demand prediction for buildings at a large scale using a hybrid of physics-based model and generative adversarial network显示文摘Power demand prediction for buildings at a large scale is required for power grid operation. The bottom-up prediction method using physics-based models is popular, but has some limitations such as a heavy workload on model creation and long computing time.Top-down methods based on data driven models are fast, but less accurate.Considering the similarity of power demand patterns of single buildings and the superiority of generative adversarial network(GAN),this paper proposes a new method(E-GAN),which combines a physics-based model(EnergyPlus)and a data-driven model(GAN),to predict the daily power demand for buildings at a large scale. The new E-GAN method selects a small number of typical buildings and utilizes EnergyPlus models to predict their power demands.Utilizing the prediction for those typical buildings, the GAN then is adopted to forecast the power demands of a large number of buildings. To verify the proposed method, the E-GAN is used to predict 24-hour power demands for a set of residential buildings. The results show that(1)4.3%of physics-based models in each building category are required to ensure the prediction accuracy;(2)compared with the physics-based model, the E-GAN can predict power demand accurately with only 5%error(measured by mean absolute percentage error,MAPE)while using only approximately 9%of the computing time;and(3)compared with data-driven models(e.g.,support vector regression, extreme learning machine, and polynomial regression model),E-GAN demonstrates at least 60%reduction in prediction error measured by MAPE. | Chenlu Tian Yunyang Ye Yingli Lou Wangda Zuo Guiqing Zhang Chengdong Li | 2022 | Building Simulation2022,15,9: | 2
Ultra-strong phosphorescence with 48% quantum yield from grinding treated thermal annealed carbon dots and boric acid composite显示文摘Metal-free room-temperature phosphorescence(RTP)materials are of great significance for many applications;however, they usually exhibit low efficiency and weak intensity. This article reports a new strategy for the preparation of a high-efficiency and strong RTP materials from crystalline thermal-annealed carbon dots(CDs)and boric acid(BA)composite(g-t-CD@BA)through grinding-induced amorphous to crystallization transition.Amorphous thermal-annealed CDs and BA composite(t-CD@BA)is prepared following a thermal melting and super-cooling route, where the CDs are fully dispersed in molten BA liquid and uniformly frozen in an amorphous thermal annealed BA matrix after super-cooling to room temperature.Upon grinding treatment, the fracture and fragmentation caused by grinding promote the transformation of the high-energy amorphous state to the lower energy crystalline counterparts. As a result, the CDs are uniformly in situ embedded in the BA crystal matrix. This method affords maximum uniform embedding of the CDs in the BA crystals, decreases nonradiative decay, and promotes intersystem crossing by restraining the free vibration of the CDs,thus producing strong RTP materials with the highest reported phosphorescence quantum yield(48%).Remarkably,RTP from g-t-CD@BA powder is strong enough to illuminate items with a delay time exceeding 9 s. | Qijun Li Zhenxiao Zhao Shuai Meng Yuchen Li Yunyang Zhao Bohan Zhang Zikang Tang Jing Tan Songnan Qu | 2022 | SmartMat2022,3,2: | 2
Radio frequency energy regulates the multi-scale structure, digestive and physicochemical properties of rice starch显示文摘Radio frequency (RF) heating as an emerging technology was applied to regulate the structural, digestive and physicochemical properties of rice starch. In vitro digestibility results showed that RF treatment enhanced the resistant starch content and reduced the rapidly digestible starch content of rice starch, resulting in higher resistant to enzyme hydrolysis.Microstructure analysis indicated that RF treatment caused the granular surface erosions and morphology changes with increasing treatment time.RF treatment did not alter the A-type crystal form of starch, but disrupted the relative crystallinity,short-range molecular order, and lamellar structure in different degrees. Moreover, the DSC results suggested that starch orders with a higher thermal stability formed after RF treatment, thereby reducing the accessibility of starch granules to the enzyme.Furthermore, rapid viscosity analysis revealed that RF treatment significantly reduced the peak viscosity and breakdown of indica and japonica rice starch, while increased them in waxy rice starch. The rheological properties of rice starch were also changed after RF treatment. This work provides a theoretical basis for the application of RF technology in starch modification. | Zhenna Zhang Mengqing Zhang Bin Zhang Yunyang Wang Wei Zhao | 2022 | Food Bioscience2022,47,3: | 2
