Vulnerability to drought-induced cavitation in shoots of two typical shrubs in the southern Mu Us Sandy Land, China显示文摘Salix psammophila and Caragana korshinskii are two typical shrubs in the southern Mu Us Sandy Land of China which are threatened by increasing water deficits related to climate change and large-scale human activities(e.g. coal mining and oil exploitation). In this study, we assessed their vulnerability to xylem embolism and the related anatomical traits in two-year-old regenerated shoots of these two shrubs to understand how they cope with drought environment. We also evaluated the in situ hydraulic safety margins to hydraulic failure from measurements of annual predawn and midday leaf water potentials. The results showed that S. psammophila stems had a higher water transport capacity than C. korshinskii stems. The stem xylem water potentials at 12%, 50% and 88% loss of conductivity were –1.11, –1.63 and –2.15 MPa in S. psammophila, respectively, and –1.37, –2.64 and –3.91 MPa in C. korshinskii, respectively. This suggested that C. korshinskii was more resistant to cavitation than S. psammophila. Compared with S. psammophila, C. korshinskii had shorter maximum vessel length, lower vessel density, smaller conductive area and higher wood density, which may contribute to its more resistant xylem. The in situ hydraulic safety margins indicated that even during the driest periods, both shrubs lived well above the most critical embolism thresholds, and the hydraulic safety margin was wider in C. korshinskii than in S. psammophila, suggesting that the regenerated shoots of both shrubs could function normally and C. korshinskii had greater hydraulic protection. These results provide the basis for an in-depth understanding of the survival, growth and functional behavior of these two shrubs under harsh and dry desert environments.LI Yangyang CHEN Weiyue CHEN Jiacun SHI Hui 2016Journal of Arid Land2016,8,1:5
Mineral phase and structure changes during roasting of fine-grained carbonaceous gold ores and their effects on gold leaching efficiency显示文摘While roasting has been widely applied to reduce the negative effect of carbonaceous matters on gold extraction from fine-grained carbonaceous gold ores, the phase and structure changes of minerals during roasting and their in fluences on the leachi ng rate of gold have not been fully understood. This limits the extraction of carbonaceous gold deposits. The current work examines the oxidation process of a fine-grained carbonaceous gold ore during roasting using a range of techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), seanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectrometer (EDS) analysis and pore structure analysis together with gold leaching tests. The results show that during the process of oxidative roasting, the carbonaceous matters (organic carbon and graphitic carbon) and pyrite were completely decomposed at 600 ℃ with the carbonaceous components burned and pyrite oxidized into hematite. At 650 ℃, while dolomite was decomposed into calcia, magnesia, calcium sulfate etc., the calcine structure became loose and porous, leading to a high gold leaching rate from the roasted product. Above 750 ℃, the porous calcite structure started to collapse along with the agglomeration, leading to the secondary encapsulation of gold particles, which contributed to the sharp drop in the gold leaching rate of the roasted product. This study suggests optimum phase and structure changes of minerals during roasting to achieve maximum gold extraction from fine-grained carbonaceous gold deposits.Jianping Jin Yuexin Han Hui Li Yangyang Huai Yongjun Peng Xiaotian Gu Wei Yang 2019Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,5:4
Clinical practice guidelines for treating headache with Traditional Chinese Medicine: quality assessment with the appraisal of guidelines for research and evaluation Ⅱ instrument显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To critically appraise the methodological quality of clinical practice guidelines for headache produced over the last two decades, including those covering specific interventions using Traditional Chinese Medicine.METHODS: The guidelines on headache disorders were obtained by searching a number of databases, including Pub Med, EMBASE, Web of Science,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database, China Science and Technology Journal Database, and Wanfang database, three guideline-related databases [Guideline-International Network, National Guideline Clearinghouse, and Medlive], and the records of organizations that develop guidelines. The publication date was limited to the period from January 1996 to June 2015. The search terms 'headache', 'headache disorders', 'cephalalgia', 'migraine', 'tension-type headache', 'practice guideline', 'consensus ', 'statement', 'regulation', and 'recommendation' were used in the 'Me SH' and 'Free-text' fields. The guidelines were independently appraised by four researchers using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation Ⅱ instrument.RESULTS: A total of 23 guidelines published between 1998 and 2014 were reviewed. The overall consistency of the four appraisers was good [interclass correlation coefficient 0.84; 95% confidence interval(CI) 0.82-0.86]. The mean(standard deviation) scores for scope and purpose, stakeholder involvement, rigor of development, clarity of presentation, applicability, and editorial independence were 52.1(18.0), 39.5(17.1), 33.4(21.0), 49.8(21.9),23.8(19.3), and 24.2(23.7). Only two guidelines were recommended, 12 were recommended with modification, and nine were not recommended.CONCLUSION: Physical Traditional Chinese Medicine therapies were recommended to treat headache. The overall quality of headache guidelines was low in China, but evidence-based guidelines are gradually becoming mainstream. Guideline developers should carefully consider, in particular, three domains: rigor of development, applicability, and editorial independence.Luo Hao Li Hui Wang Yangyang Yao Sha Xu Wenjie 2018Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2018,38,3:3
Generation of rat blood vasculature and hematopoietic cells in rat-mouse chimeras by blastocyst complementation显示文摘Interspecies chimera through blastocyst complementation could be an alternative approach to create human organs in animals by using human pluripotent stem cells.A mismatch of the major histocompatibility complex of vascular endothelial cells between the human and host animal will cause graft rejection in the transplanted organs. Therefore,to achieve a transplantable organ in animals without rejection, creation of vascular endothelial cells derived from humans within the organ is necessary. In this study,to explore whether donor xeno-pluripotent stem cells can compensate for blood vasculature in host animals,we generated rat-mouse chimeras by injection of rat embryonic stem cells(rESCs)into mouse blastocysts with deficiency of Flk-1 protein, which is associated with endothelial and hematopoietic cell development. We found that rESCs could differentiate into vascular endothelial and hematopoietic cells in the rat-mouse chimeras. The whole yolk sac(YS)of Flk-1^EGFP/ECFP rat-mouse chimera was full of rat blood vasculature.Rat genes related to vascular endothelial cells, arteries, and veins, blood vessels formation process,as well as hematopoietic cells, were highly expressed in the YS.Our results suggested that rat vascular endothelial cells could undergo proliferation, migration, and self-assembly to form blood vasculature and that hematopoietic cells could differentiate into B cells,T cells, and myeloid cells in rat-mouse chimeras, which was able to rescue early embryonic lethality caused by Flk-1 deficiency in mouse.Xiaomin Wang Hui Shi Juanjuan Zhou Qingjian Zou Quanjun Zhang Shixue Gou Pengfei Chen Lisha Mou Nana Fan Yangyang Suo Zhen Ouyang Chengdan Lai Quanmei Yan Liangxue Lai 2020Journal of Genetics and Genomics2020,47,5:2

Implementation technology of Kirchhoff demigration显示文摘Demigration refers to directly applying a specific imaging technique to a migrated section. It is applied primarily to seismic data mapping. In a previous research study,a time-efficient implementation technology of demigration was expounded. In the present study, the Fast Marching Method( FMM) used for traveltime computation in the isochrone-stack demigration,is developed. Furthermore, other key techniques( such as selection of aperture and antialiasing filtering factor) are analyzed in detail. Besides, the detail implementation method and program flow are given, which is shown their good computational efficiency and high-quality demigration effect. This implementation technique is illustrated with both the V( z) model and Marmousi model. It provides a basic method for implementing demigration in the application of seismic data mapping.XU Yangyang SUN Jianguo SUN Hui SUN Huiqiu JIANG Panpan ZHAO Sihang 2015Global Geology2015,18,4:1
Conformal optical black hole for cavity显示文摘Whispering-gallery-mode(WGM)cavity is important for exploring physics of strong light-matter interaction.Yet it suffers from the notorious radiation loss universally due to the light tunneling effect through the curved boundary. In this work,we propose and demonstrate an optical black hole(OBH)cavity based on transformation optics. The radiation loss of all WGMs in the ideal OBH cavity is completely inhibited by an infinite wide potential barrier.Besides, the WGM field in the OBH cladding is revealed to follow 1/rdecay rule based on conformal mapping, which is fundamentally different from the conventional Hankel-function distributions in a homogeneous cavity.Experimentally,a truncated OBH cavity is achieved based on the effective medium theory, and both the Q-factor enhancement and tightly confined WGM fields are measured in the microwave spectra which agree well with the theoretical results. The circular OBH cavity is further applied to the arbitrary-shaped cavities including single-core and multi-core structures with high-Q factor via the conformal mapping. The OBH cavity design strategy can be generalized to resonant modes of various wave systems, such as acoustic and elastic waves, and finds applications in energy harvesting and optoelectronics.Qingtao Ba Yangyang Zhou Jue Li Wen Xiao Longfang Ye Yineng Liu Jin‑hui Chen Huanyang Chen 2022eLight2022,2,1:1
Statistical properties of kinetic-scale magnetic holes in terrestrial space显示文摘Kinetic-scale magnetic holes(KSMHs)are structures characterized by a significant magnetic depression with a length scale on the order of the proton gyroradius. These structures have been investigated in recent studies in near-Earth space, and found to be closely related to energy conversion and particle acceleration,wave-particle interactions, magnetic reconnection, and turbulence at the kineticscale. However, there are still several major issues of the KSMHs that need further study—including(a)the source of these structures(locally generated in near-Earth space,or carried by the solar wind),(b)the environmental conditions leading to their generation, and(c)their spatio-temporal characteristics. In this study,KSMHs in near-Earth space are investigated statistically using data from the Magnetospheric Multiscale mission.Approximately 200,000 events were observed from September 2015 to March 2020.Occurrence rates of such structures in the solar wind, magnetosheath, and magnetotail were obtained. We find that KSMHs occur in the magnetosheath at rates far above their occurrence in the solar wind. This indicates that most of the structures are generated locally in the magnetosheath, rather than advected with the solar wind. Moreover,KSMHs occur in the downstream region of the quasi-parallel shock at rates significantly higher than in the downstream region of the quasi-perpendicular shock, indicating a relationship with the turbulent plasma environment.Close to the magnetopause,we find that the depths of KSMHs decrease as their temporal-scale increases. We also find that the spatial-scales of the KSMHs near the subsolar magnetosheath are smaller than those in the flanks.Furthermore, their global distribution shows a significant dawn-dusk asymmetry(duskside dominating)in the magnetotail.ShuTao Yao ZongShun Yue QuanQi Shi Alexander William Degeling HuiShan Fu AnMin Tian Hui Zhang Andrew Vu RuiLong Guo ZhongHua Yao Ji Liu Qiu-Gang Zong XuZhi Zhou JingHuan Li WenYa Li HongQiao Hu YangYang Liu WeiJie Sun 2021Earth and Planetary Physics2021,5,1:1
Ultrasound-visualized nanocarriers with siRNA for targeted inhibition of M2-like TAM polarization to enhance photothermal therapy in NSCLC显示文摘Photothermal therapy(PTT)has received a lot of attention as a promising strategy for eliminating tumors quickly. However, the unavoidable inflammatory response during the treatment might result in a high concentration of M2-like tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs),increasing the risk of tumor recurrence and metastasis. To address this problem,gold-based nanocarriers(PGMP-small interfering RNA(siRNA)nanoparticles(NPs))containing STAT6siRNA,that inhibited M2-like TAM polarization, were designed and investigated for PTT and gene therapy of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).In an NSCLC model, the nanocarriers demonstrated excellent siRNA delivery ability and a high gene transfection rate of up to 90%in macrophages, thus inhibiting the polarization of about 87%of M2-like TAMs and effectively suppressing the invasion and metastasis of NSCLC.Meanwhile, the unique gold nanosphere structure offered improved PTT and contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging, thus contributing to the efficient elimination and real-time monitoring of the tumor tissues. These nanocarriers with combined gene and photothermal therapeutic capabilities improved the efficacy of single-modality treatment, and showed the potential to inhibit cancer cell recurrence and metastasis to ultimately cure NSCLC.Wenhao Lv Chen Xu Hao Wu Yangyang Zhu Ozioma Udochukwu Akakuru Hui Du Fang Nie Aiguo Wu Juan Li 2023Nano Research2023,16,1:0
African swine fever virus S273R protein antagonizes type I interferon production by interfering with TBK1 and IRF3 interaction显示文摘African swine fever(ASF)is originally reported in East Africa as an acute hemorrhagic fever.African swine fever virus(ASFV)is a giant and complex DNA virus with icosahedral structure and encodes a variety of virulence factors to resist host innate immune response.S273R protein(pS273R),as a SUMO-1 specific cysteine protease, can affect viral packaging by cutting polymeric proteins. In this study,we found that pS273R was an important antagonistic viral factor that suppressed cGAS-STING-mediated type I interferon(IFN-I)production.A detailed analysis showed that pS273R inhibited IFN-I production by interacting with interferon regulatory factor 3(IRF3).Subsequently,we showed that pS273R disrupted the association between TBK1 and IRF3,leading to the repressed IRF3 phosphorylation and dimerization.Deletion and point mutation analysis verified that pS273R impaired IFN-I production independent of its cysteine protease activity. These findings will help us further understand ASFV pathogenesis.Hui Li Xiaojie Zheng You Li Yingqi Zhu Yangyang Xu Zilong Yu Wen-Hai Feng 2023Virologica Sinica2023,38,6:0
Electro-chemo-mechanical design of polymer matrix in composited LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2) cathode endows solid-state batteries with superior performance显示文摘Nickel-rich LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)(NCM811) cathode material has been widely concerned due to its high voltage, high specific capacity and excellent rate performance, which is considered as one of the most promising cathode materials for the next generation of high-energy-density solid-state lithium batteries. However, serious electro-chemo-mechanical degradation of Nickel-rich cathode during cycling, especially at a high voltage(over 4.5 V),constrains their large-scale application. Here, using the multiphysical simulation,highly-conductive polymer matrix with spontaneous stress-buffering effect was uncovered theoretically for reinforcing the electrochemical performance of composited NCM81 1 cathode through the visualization of uniform concentration distribution of Li-ion coupled with improved stress field inside NCM811 cathode.Thereupon, polyacrylonitrile(PAN) and soft polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) were selected as the polymer matrix to fabricate the composited NCM811 cathode(PVDFPAN@NCM811) for improving the electrochemical performance of the solid-state NMC811|Li full cells, which can maintain high capacity over 146.2 mA h g^(-1)after 200 cycles at a high voltage of 4.5 V.Suggestively, designing a multifunctional polymer matrix with high ionic conductivity and mechanical property can buffer the stress and maintain the integrity of the structure, which can be regarded as the door-opening avenue to realize the high electrochemical performance of Ni-rich cathode for solidstate batteries.Haolong Jiang Xieyu Xu Qingpeng Guo Hui Wang Jiayi Zheng Yuhao Zhu Huize Jiang Olesya O.Kapitanova Valentyn S.Volkov Jialin Wang Yaqi Chen Yongjing Wang Yu Han Chunman Zheng Kai Xie Shizhao Xiong Yangyang Liu Xingxing Jiao 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,3:0
Reinforced interface endows the lithium anode with stable cycle at high-temperature of 80℃显示文摘Embracing ultrahigh theoretical capacity of 3860 mA h g^(-1)and the lowest reduction potential of-3.04 V(versus standard hydrogen electrode),lithium(Li) is considered as the 'holy grail' material for pursuing higher energy density,of which application has been challenged due to the unstable interface caused by the non-uniform electrodeposition as well as high chemical activity.Operating at higher temperature can be recommended to uniform electrodeposition of Li metal.Nevertheless, the intrinsic side-reaction between Li metal anode and electrolyte is inevitably aggravated and thus fosters the failure of Li metal anode rapidly with uneven electrodeposition. Here,a kind of temperature-tolerated ionic liquid(1-methyl-3-ethylimidazole bis(fluorosulfo nyl)imide/lithium bis(trifluoromethylsulfo nyl)imide,EF/LT)based electrolyte that matrixed with poly(vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene) was designed to maintain the interfacial stabilization of Li metal due to the weak interfacial reaction and uniform electrodeposition at high temperature of 80℃.It is the matter that the 660-h cycle with lower polarization is achieved with EF/LT-based electrolyte at temperature of 80 ℃ and the full cell embraces outstanding cyclic performance, without capacity fading within 100 cycles.Delighting,a door for practical application of Li metal anode for higher energy density as the carbon neutrality progresses in the blooming human society has been opened gradually.Yuhao Zhu Xieyu Xu Qingpeng Guo Yu Han Haolong Jiang Huize Jiang Hui Wang Pavel V.Evdokimov Olesya O.Kapitanova Valentyn S.Volkov Yongjing Wang Shizhao Xiong Chunman Zheng Kai Xie Xingxing Jiao Yangyang Liu 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,3:0
The relationship between sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and malnutrition cluster and long-term mortality in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis显示文摘Aim:Sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and malnutrition represent common debilitating conditions in the context of cirrhosis, linked to a variety of dismal outcomes. We aimed to clarify their overlap and cumulative impact on long-term mortality in hospitalized patients with cirrhosis. Methods:Consecutive patients with cirrhosis were prospectively recruited from January 2018 to December 2020.The diagnosis of sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and malnutrition was standardized according to the consensus definition and our well-documented criteria. The prevalence of the respective debilitating condition and the concurrence of this comorbidity were calculated. Results:In total,253 patients with cirrhosis aged 64 years with a female predominance(52.4%)were recruited.Sarcopenia was present in 20.9%(53/253),multidimensional frailty in 12.6%(32/253),and malnutrition in 44.7%(113/253)of the entire cohort.Approximately half of the patients had at least one debilitating condition(127/253).Sarcopenia and malnutrition co-existed in 33 nonfrail patients(13.0%)and multidimensional frailty and malnutrition in eight nonsarcopenic patients(3.2%).Fifteen(5.9%)subjects had all three debilitating conditions, namely malnutrition, sarcopenia, and frailty(MSF)group. The proportions of males, infections, and ascites were significantly higher in the MSF group.Patients in the MSF group had the highest levels of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and creatinine. The 2-year mortality rates in patients with three debilitating conditions, two conditions, one condition, and no conditions were 60.0%,23.8%,21.4%,and 13.5%,respectively.Multivariate Cox regression indicated the long-term mortality risk was approximately four-fold higher among patients in the MSF group compared to those with no conditions. Conclusions:A fraction of patients with cirrhosis exhibited comorbidities of sarcopenia, multidimensional frailty, and malnutrition, linked to a higher risk of long-term mortality.Gaoyue Guo Han Wang Wanting Yang Chaoqun Li Xingliang Zhao Xiaofei Fan Yangyang Hui Binxin Cui Xiaoyu Wang Xuqian Zhang Kui Jiang Chao Sun 2023Portal Hypertension & Cirrhosis2023,2,2:0

Sleep disturbances in patients with cirrhosis:Pursuing just right显示文摘Liver cirrhosis represents the end-stage of chronic liver disease and is related to high morbidity and mortality. To date, there is no standard curative method for liver cirrhosis, but there is treatment for common complications. Therefore, improving the health-related quality of life(HRQoL)of patients with cirrhosis has become a potential therapeutic intervention by limiting its symptoms and complications.Sleep is a complex and rhythmic physiological process and is crucial to human health.Sleep disturbances are commonly encountered in patients with cirrhosis and adversely affect their HRQoL.Recently, sleep disturbances in patients with cirrhosis have received growing attention owing to their reciprocal effects. To better understand the effect of sleep disturbances on patients with cirrhosis, this review provides a comprehensive summary of the epidemiology and underlying mechanisms of sleep disturbances in cirrhosis. We also elaborate on the mutual relationships between sleep disturbances and other complications, such as muscle cramps, malnutrition, frailty, sarcopenia,HRQoL,and hepatic encephalopathy,in the context of cirrhosis. Finally,we discuss the potential management to improve poor sleep quality in patients with cirrhosis.Yangyang Hui Xin Chen Chao Sun 2023Portal Hypertension & Cirrhosis2023,2,4:0
Lactobacillus plantarum AR113 attenuates liver injury in D-galactose-induced aging mice via the inhibition of oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum stress显示文摘Probiotics could effectively eliminate excess reactive oxygen species(ROS)generated during aging or lipid metabolism disorders, but their mechanism is unclear. The major purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanism of Lactiplantibacillus plantarun AR113 alleviating oxidative stress injury in the D-galactose induced aging mice. The result showed that pretreatment with L.plantarun AR113 significantly relieving H_(2)O_(2)induced cytotoxicity in HepG2 cells by maintain cell membrane integrity and increasing antioxidant enzyme activities. In D-galactose induced aging mice,L.plantarun AR113 could significantly attenuate liver damage and inflammatory infiltration by promoting endogenous glutathione(GSH)synthesis and activating the Nrf2/Keap1 signaling pathway in mice, and increasing the expression of regulated phaseⅡdetoxification enzymes and antioxidant enzymes.Further analysis shown that gavage of L.plantarun AR113 could significantly reduce the expression of G protein-coupled receptor 78(GPR78)and C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP)proteins, and promote the restoration of endoplasmic reticulum(ER)homeostasis, thereby activating cell anti-apoptotic pathways. These results were also confirmed in H_(2)O_(2)-treated HepG2 experiments. It indicated that L.plantarun AR113 could inhibit D-galactose-induced liver injury through dual inhibition of ER stress and oxidative stress.L.plantarun AR113 have good application potential in anti-aging and alleviating metabolic disorders.Yongjun Xia Yujie Gong Xiangna Lin Yijin Yang Xin Song Guangqiang Wang Zhiqiang Xiong Yangyang Qian Zhuan Liao Hui Zhang Lianzhong Ai 2024Food Science and Human Wellness2024,13,2:0
Sarcopenic obesity in liver disease: Handling both sides of the penny显示文摘Skeletal muscle and fat tissue show distinct pathophysiological roles and pivotal functions. The culmination of muscle wasting and fat accumulation represents an opposite terminal of each state.Specifically, this situation has been designated as sarcopenic obesity. However, sarcopenic obesity still lacks a unanimous definition, diagnostic criteria, and generalized modalities for assessment in the context of versatile liver diseases. Moreover, the underpinning mechanisms by which a combination of abnormal skeletal muscle and fat tissue leads to the progression of liver disease and impairs health‐related consequences are still elusive.Additionally, the interplay between skeletal muscle and fat,and the driving factors that shift different body compositions are not well understood. Therefore,in this review,we discuss skeletal muscle and fat components, with the purpose of conceptualization,as well as interpret their roles in liver diseases. We focus on the definitions, diagnostic criteria, and currently available measurements for sarcopenic obesity in the literature. We comprehensively discuss recent data and evidence regarding the potential role of sarcopenic obesity in the development and progression of numerous liver diseases and associated conditions, including nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, chronic viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver transplantation.Furthermore, explicit information related to the pathogenesis of sarcopenic obesity from basic research is also provided in this narrative review. Finally,we discuss, from the clinical perspective of view, how to manage sarcopenic obesity using nutritional, physical, and pharmacological methods.Yangyang Hui Binxin Cui Xiaoyu Wang Mingyu Sun Yifan Li Wanting Yang Gaoyue Guo Lihong Mao Zihan Yu Xiaofei Fan Chao Sun 2022Portal Hypertension & Cirrhosis2022,1,1:0
