1Generation of multi-channel chaotic signals with time delay signature concealment and ultrafast photonic decision making based on a globally-coupled semiconductor laser network显示文摘We propose and demonstrate experimentally and numerically a network of three globally coupled semiconductor lasers(SLs)that generate triple-channel chaotic signals with time delayed signature(TDS)concealment.The effects of the coupling strength and bias current on the concealment of the TDS are investigated.The generated chaotic signals are further applied to reinforcement learning,and a parallel scheme is proposed to solve the multiarmed bandit(MAB)problem.The influences of mutual correlation between signals from different channels,the sampling interval of signals,and the TDS concealment on the performance of decision making are analyzed.Comparisons between the proposed scheme and two existing schemes show that,with a simplified algorithm,the proposed scheme can perform as well as the previous schemes or even better.Moreover,we also consider the robustness of decision making performance against a dynamically changing environment and verify the scalability for MAB problems with different sizes.This proposed globally coupled SL network for a multi-channel chaotic source is simple in structure and easy to implement.The attempt to solve the MAB problem in parallel can provide potential values in the realm of the application of ultrafast photonics intelligence.Yanan Han Shuiying Xiang Yang Wang Yuanting Ma Bo Wang Aijun Wen Yue Hao 2020Photonics Research2020,8,11:6
2A Low-Power Low-Cost 780MHz CMOS FSK Receiver for Short-Range Wireless Communication显示文摘This paper presents a low-power low-cost780 MHz CMOS Frequency shift keying(FSK) receiver for short-range wireless communication. A current-reused Low power amplifier(LNA) and a single-balance passive mixer are employed to cut down the current consumption of the RF frontend in receiver. A 3rd-order active-RC complex filter with reconfigurable bandwidth is implemented and a novel automatic tuning circuit is used in the filter to eliminate the negative effect of the Process, voltage, temperature(PVT) variations. A novel replica-circuit master-slave automatic tuning circuit and a discrete-time differentiator are employed in demodulator to keep the demodulation performances from the PVT variations and the frequency offset of Intermediate frequency(IF). The receiver is fabricated in 0.18μm CMOS and occupies a chip area of about 0.97mm2. 7Abdominal Grey Color Variation along an Elevation Gradient in a Lizard显示文摘Color variation among populations is thought to be either due to genetic variation or phenotype plasticity.In this study,we found that an agamid lizard,Phrynocephalus theobaldi,inhabiting elevations greater than any other reptile,displayed a significantly darker spotted marking on the central ventral abdomen in higher populations than in lower populations.The grey spotted area only occurred in elevations>4200 m,and also increased with increased elevation.The ratio of the size of the dark colored area to the degree of skin luminance/reflectance was used to test whether the lizard has a larger and darker spotted area at higher elevations.This ratio was significantly positively associated with elevation rather than substrate color.The lizard did not display sexual difference in this phenotype.Temperature had a significant influence on the brightness of central abdomen,but temperature-related plasticity of this trait was much smaller than the magnitude of the difference between higher(>4200 m)and lower populations(<4200 m).Common garden experiments showed that genetic inheritance,rather than phenotype plasticity,played a dominant role in this variation.Our research addressed the darkness of a body region that is rarely analyzed because it is shielded from direct insolation.The idea that ventral color could be related to thermoregulation is shown to be worthy of further research.Zian WEI Jiasheng LI Tao WANG Minglu YANG Yuanting JIN 2023Asian Herpetological Research2023,14,2:0
8The Empirical Study of Board Structure and Firm Performance-Innovative Small Enterprises in China显示文摘This study took small enterprises listed from 2010 to 2015 as the empirical object.The board size,CEO duality,and ratio of independent directors were independent variables.The return on total assets,return on shareholders’equity and earnings per share were taken as the dependent variables,and three hypotheses were tested with SPSS.It is found that the board size was positively correlated with firm performance,but was not significant.There was no significant correlation between the ratio of independent directors and CEO duality on firm performance.This study suggests that optimizing the leadership structure of the board of directors can help improve the firm performance of enterprises.Liling Yang Yuanting Chen 2021Management Studies2021,9,3:0
9Toxicity effects of disinfection byproduct chloroacetic acid to Microcystis aeruginosa: Cytotoxicity and mechanisms显示文摘Chlorine-based disinfectants are widely used for disinfection in wastewater treatment.The mechanism of the effects of chlorinated disinfection by-products on cyanobacteria was unclear.Herein,the physiological effects of chloroacetic acid(CAA)on Microcystis aeruginosa(M.aeruginosa),including acute toxicity,oxidative stress,apoptosis,production of microcystin-LR(MC-LR),and the microcystin transportation-related gene mcyH transcript abundance have been investigated.CAA exposure resulted in a significant change in the cell ultrastructure,including thylakoid damage,disappearance of nucleoid,production of gas vacuoles,increase in starch granule,accumulation of lipid droplets,and disruption of cytoplasm membranes.Meanwhile,the apoptosis rate of M.aeruginosa increased with CAA concentration.The production of MC-LR was affected by CAA,and the transcript abundance of mcyH decreased.Our results suggested that CAA poses acute toxicity to M.aeruginosa,and it could cause oxidative damage,stimulate MC-LR production,and damage cell ultrastructure.This study may provide information about the minimum concentration of CAA in the water environment,which is safe for aquatic organisms,especially during the global coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic period.Jing Ye Jiawei Ni Fuxiang Tian Xiyan Ji Meifang Hou Yuanting Li Lei Yang Runxiang Wang Wenwu Xu Liang Meng 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,7:0

13Phylogenetic Relationships among Chinese Rice Frogs within the Fejervarya limnocharis Species Complex (Amphibia: Dicroglossidae)显示文摘We present a molecular assessment of the widely-distributed ricefrog(Fejervarya limnocharis)which provides many newsamples that add to knowledge of their phylogeography within China and considersgenetic support forfive Chinese species withinthis complex.TwomtDNAfragments from 270 individuals and eight nuclearDNAloci(105 individuals)were sequenced from specimens sampled from across China.Data from nine specimens from China,Indonesia and Japan were also retrieved from previous studies.MtDNAwas informativeabout population divergence within China and indicated one major clade(with four subclades)from South China and the Zhoushan Archipelago,Zhejiang,China,and a second major clade(with eight subclades)from other parts of China.Recent demographic expansions(less than 50ka ago)were detected within three of these 12 subclades,potentially associa ted with lowered sea-levels after marine transgressions.Nota bly,most frogs from the previously unstudied Zhoushan Archipelago(eastern China)were found to be closely related to Japanese populations.BPPand STACEY species delimitation analyses of the multilocus data favoured five candidate species within the complex.Previous work had described Fejervaryamultistriata and F.kawamurai from the Chinese mainland although here we detected considerable genetic divergence within the latter and found that this may be indicative of two species.One of these corresponds to the Zhoushan Archipelago,Zhejiang,China and Japan,and the other from most parts of Chinese mainland.This study provides a large multilocus dataset that contributes to the systematics of this species complex.Kun YANG Yubin WO Gang SHAO Pinghu LIAO Haojie TONG Richard P.BROWN Yuanting JIN 2022Asian Herpetological Research2022,13,4:0
14Both IDO1 and TDO contribute to the malignancy of gliomas via the Kyn–AhR–AQP4 signaling pathway显示文摘Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1(IDO1),indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 2(IDO2),and tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase(TDO)initiate the first step of the kynurenine pathway(KP),leading to the transformation of L-tryptophan(Trp)into L-kynurenine(Kyn)and other downstream metabolites.Kyn is known as an endogenous ligand of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor(AhR).Activation of AhR through TDO-derived Kyn is a novel mechanism to support tumor growth in gliomas.However,the role of IDO1 and IDO2 in this mechanism is still unknown.Herein,by using clinical samples,we found that the expression and activity of IDO1 and/or TDO(IDO1/TDO)rather than IDO2 were positively correlated with the pathologic grades of gliomas.The expression of IDO1/TDO rather than IDO2 was positively correlated with the Ki67 index and overall survival.The expression of IDO1/TDO was positively correlated with the expression of aquaporin 4(AQP4),implying the potential involvement of IDO1/TDO in glioma cell motility.Mechanistically,we found that IDO1/TDO accounted for the release of Kyn,which activated AhR to promote cell motility via the Kyn–AhR–AQP4 signaling pathway in U87MG glioma cells.RY103,an IDO1/TDO dual inhibitor,could block the IDO1/TDO–Kyn–AhR–AQP4 signaling pathway and exert anti-glioma effects in GL261 orthotopic glioma mice.Together,our results showed that the IDO1/TDO–Kyn–AhR–AQP4 signaling pathway is a new mechanism underlying the malignancy of gliomas,and suggest that both IDO1 and TDO might be valuable therapeutic targets for gliomas.Lisha Du Zikang Xing Bangbao Tao Tianqi Li Dan Yang Weirui Li Yuanting Zheng Chunxiang Kuang Qing Yang 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:0
15The Efficacy of Plant-Based Ionizers in Removing Aerosol for COVID-19 Mitigation显示文摘Small-sized droplets/aerosol transmission is one of the factors responsible for the spread of COVID-19,in addition to large droplets and surface contamination(fomites).While large droplets and surface contamination can be relatively easier to deal with(i.e.,using mask and proper hygiene measures),aerosol presents a different challenge due to their ability to remain airborne for a long time.This calls for mitigation solutions that can rapidly eliminate the airborne aerosol.Pre-COVID-19,air ionizers have been touted as effective tools to eliminate small particulates.In this work,we sought to evaluate the efficacy of a novel plant-based ionizer in eliminating aerosol.It was found that factors such as the ion concentration,humidity,and ventilation can drastically affect the efficacy of aerosol removal.The aerosol removal rate was quantified in terms of ACH(air changes per hour)and CADR-(clean air delivery rate-)equivalent unit,with ACH as high as 12 and CADR as high as 141 ft^(3)/minute being achieved by a plant-based ionizer in a small isolated room.This work provides an important and timely guidance on the effective deployment of ionizers in minimizing the risk of COVID-19 spread via airborne aerosol,especially in a poorly-ventilated environment.Ady Suwardi Chin Chun Ooi Dan Daniel Chee Kiang Ivan Tan Hongying Li Ou Yang Zhong Liang Yuanting Karen Tang Jing Yee Chee Anton Sadovoy Shu-Ye Jiang Srinivasan Ramachandran Enyi Ye Chang Wei Kang Wun Chet Davy Cheong Keng Hui Lim Xian Jun Loh 2021Research2021,,1:0
